It's an innocent and refreshing story of childhood friendship, add the whole Nekota's-face-is-a-cat thing and it becomes really interesting. I also like how they don't go too fast to romance, considering that they are in elementary school, so far it's a PG story I would recommend to any age.

The story was unique for me. It was told continuously, with a few flashbacks here and there, but they didn't add confusion to the story. It didn't feel rushed for me because you can slowly see the growth of the characters as you continue with the story. It wasn't necessarily too simple or too complicated. You can understand everything and yet still be enthralled by the story. I stumbled upon this manga while looking for good mystery manga to read. Although it's mostly comedy, romance, and school life, the mystery of as to why only Amane sees Nekota's head as a cat head keeps youhooked on to the story. The fact that they didn't rush into the romance part all of a sudden and let it progress made it feel realistic. The ending felt satisfying, covering up everything and putting a good end to the story. It was worth reading the 44 chapters.

The art was pretty good. They were somewhat memorable and fit the comedy genre of the manga. The characters were easy to tell apart because they had their own unique looks. It felt as if they matched the characters' personalities.

The character development was actually good. Although, it did feel as if some characters were a bit left behind up to the point that I totally forgot about them until they reappeared. Their reactions, growth, and development were totally realistic. They were given time and weren't rushed. Seeing the development made me feel nostalgic about the similar times it happened to me back in middle school. I didn't dislike any characters because I felt they were all significant to the story and nothing would be the same if even one of them disappeared. They did leave a pretty big impression on me, so they won't be disappearing from my mind anytime soon.

I think even non-anime / manga fans will take a liking to the series. It discusses relatable topics - friendships, romance, school life, etc. It doesn't feel too distant because I've experienced it myself. I'd certainly want to reread it again, although it wouldn't really be complete without the mystery. I'd probably remember it because it was a really weird (in a good way) and different manga series than the ones I've read before.

I love this story! It's so fresh and original for an elementary school setting shoujo manga. The mood, in a way, is reminiscent of CCS and Kodocha for me. Feel-good, sweet, innocent elementary school romance. And I love how the mangaka decided to tease the readers that Mikiko isn't the only one who sees Nekota with a cat's head. It really does make us curious about Nekota and how we can't help ourselves but be curious. Looking forward more updates (and hopefully this gets licensed so I can get my own copies). I do hope that before the end of the series that somewhere, in somepoint, probably close to the ending, that we would finally see how Nekota really looks like as a normal human being. Even then, just the mystery of Mikiko being the only one seeing Nekota with a cat's head really does makes us curious even more.

This anime is so cute! The story is unique as well. You will never think the main character of the story sees a cat for a human. It's totally out of imagination. The art style is very well drawn. Even though 49 chapters may seem a lot, it's worth it. The ending is sooo worth the wait. When you read the manga, you want to keep on reading. The author has a wild imagination that we may never know what happens next. This manga, specifically, is soo innocent. Like it gives you that elementary school vibe. However, even though it does feel elementary school thestory line is too good to just abandon the manga because of its vibe.

Story: 10/10 Ok... the premise is a little bit weird BUT that's also partly why I love it so much. It's something a little bit different from your usual shoujo romance manga. The story is really fun and has some great comedic moments in it. There were no issues with pacing for me and the mystery never felt dragged out as we were given small hints along the way which were enough to keep me satisfied with not knowing for a little while longer. Art: 9/10 The art style is wonderful. It's playful and fun and I think it would definitely stand the test of time. My onlylittle nitpick would be that, when Nekota's face is finally revealed at the end, one of his eyes was always covered with his hair. I know it was probably just his hairstyle but it just bothered me a little bit since I really wanted to see his full face after all that build up. Other than that I have no issues.

Characters: 10/10

The characters were all very likeable in my opinion, especially Mikki. She is quite oblivious but fun and outgoing. Her personality kind of reminds me of Luffy from One Piece (weird comparison, I know) in the sense that they're both very simpleminded and just want to have fun. Nekota is almost Mikki's complete opposite in the sense that he's very calm and thinks things over. This makes them a really fun duo to watch as Mikki brings him more out of his shell while he influences her to become more thoughtful and considerate towards the people around her. The side characters are also very fun to watch so you'll never get a dull moment.

Enjoyment: 10/10

As you can imagine, I loved this series. One of my favourite types of romances to read are ones about young love (Middle school/Elementary school) as it's so much more relaxing. There's not as much intense drama as there usually is in high school and work romances which can sometimes become a bit too heavy for me.

Overall: 10/10

This is a really fun series so, if it interests you, I recommend you read the first few chapters to see if it's up your alley.

The story is about a 6th grader who is prone to moving schools every year moves to a special elementary school where the MMC has a cat fact. Not a cat like face. An actual cat face. Not a hot yokai who has trouble wearing clothes for some reason. Just a normal cat face on a human body. Only she can see this however, the rest including the MMC finds her reactions odd. Now she tries to figure out why she can see that. Now we have a romance story. Of course the romance doesn't start till volume 6 but i'll get to that. The character, main character, specifically is fucking braindead. She has a brick inside her head. This is harem MC type density right here. She isn't stupid when it comes to stuff like love but also just fucking dumb AF when it comes to shit like friendship or just basic human shit. She is so stupid right she doesn't understand what a period is.... Im sure there is a time when girls don't understand or don't know what periods are but holy shit the way she does is just infuriating. The MMC isn't really any better either. The cat face is meant to be comedic but the author pulls the shoujo serious/cool archtype so many times and its so hard to take that shit seriously because he has a stupid cat face. He is pretty much this perfect type guy but slightly more insecure because ugh Mommy issues. ALWAYS MOMMY ISSUES IN SHOUJO MANGA.

Another problem really is with the story. It doesn't really start till volume 6-7. Everything before that felt more like a prologue to the main story. Which in itself would be fine if it wasn't meh. The side romances was like the only decent thing about the first 6 volumes. Everything else was this friendship BS and it only was friendship because the heroine had a brick inside her head. There is also this incredibly annoying love triangle. It just on all accounts bad

There 2 main plot points in this series. The fact that the heroine doesn't want to make friends and stuff cuz she usually moves schools every year. The other being why does she see the fact Nekota has a cat face. Both of this plot points take a backseat for fuck all. It would be fine if the main plot took a back seat if the series was actually interesting and funny to begin with. But it wasn't so its just left with this mess.

The last 4 volumes was ok. In terms of the whole comedy and what not. Definitely an overall improvement than the first. But Honestly its not enough. You can't carry a series with concepts alone. the concept being the MMC having a cat face.

The last 4 volumes the FMC moves to middle school right. So 4 of the main supporting cast just take a backseat. Literally its just about these 4 characters now. Its so odd because the author only adds 1 character back rather than making new interesting characters. Its basically saying the author couldn't make better characters so she just cut them off instead.

Honestly the romance starts like the in the last 2 volumes which is actually the best part but that point its already too late. Its just disappointing because it could've been something. But you are just left with a hollow feeling instead. Also some of the side romance is left in the air which is upsetting but at the same time not. Not everyone needs a romantic conclusion. But than don't waste my fucking time on it.

TLDR: Damn I was more disappointed in this series than i expected. They were some good moments i swear. But they were far too little in the sea of mediocrity and bricks for brains. 4/10. Try again Author-san

Since I'm really into young love and extroverted female protagonist, I became a good fan of this manga. I will admit in the begging I did not like Amane but the story made me love her more and all the characters equally so that's another reason why I love this manga. I also like that the author still adds characters that left and come back for memorable moments that changed the story and they're not forgotten or just drop-ins. I'm really happy I read this and if you're into shoujo then you could get into this just like I did.

What do you get when you combine cotton candy and bubblegum with some comedy and a boy with a cat's head? Nekota no Koto ga Ki ni Natte Shikatanai of course! *This is a spoiler free review* This is a super cute comedy series centering around transfer student Mikki who tries to solve the mystery of Nekota's appearance and at the same time gets tangled up with the affairs of her other school mates as well. The story consists of two parts. The elementary school arc acts as an introduction to the cast and explores the concept of friendship in different ways. The second part starts whenit's time to move on to the middle school and the relationship between Mikki and Nekota is given more focus. Most of all this is a school comedy and a story about friendship, and a good one at that, but there's also underlying romance elements, extremely cute puppy love and even deeper bonds of the soul mates found.

The characters are a delightful bunch. Mikki is an entertaining main character with all her antics and straightforward and cheerful nature. Her obliviousness about everything can induce a bit of eye-rolling but she usually delivers the best comedy. This is also a coming-of-age story and through Mikki we can see the growing pains of a child slowly becoming a teenager. To balance her all-over-the-place nature we have the calm and mature Nekota who gets sucked into her tornado all the time whether he wanted it or not. Spun in some more kids and we have a tight and diverse cast of characters. Nothing new here, but they are all lovable and we get to see surprisingly much character development considering the length of the story.

The art is modern cutesy shoujo that's easy and nice to follow and the characters are well designed and distinct enough. The best part of the elementary school setting was that the characters get to use their own clothes instead of school uniforms; I just love to see how characters' styles reflect their personalities. And one noteworthy thing is Nekota's permanently grumpy cat face which still manages to be impressively expressive!

I really enjoyed this series because it was easy to read, terribly funny and the mystery of Nekota's head brought just enough suspension to the story. In the end it felt like everything was neatly wrapped up and it was easy to bid everybody farewell cheerfully. I'd recommend this if in need of something light and warm to read. The romance lovers won't be disappointed either.

TL;DR

This is a story to cheer you up, to make you curious and to enjoy the magic of friendship without raising your blood sugar level to the stars. And did I already mention how cute this is?

*Minor spoiler ahead* Just an average manga. I don't quite understand how the rating made it to the 8. The main girl is selfish and pushy, and unrealistically innocent. It is almost comical how much she "just wants to be friends with everyone", to the point of desperately clinging on to that ideal. I get that she's supposed to be young and innocent, but the level to which she doesn't know things and the absolute lack of self-awareness is laughable. It also just fell into the trope of love polygon, which is a very unoriginal way of portraying relationships. It dragged on right until the end.Best way to put it, I think, is that it portrays and addresses relatable issues in an unrelatable way.
