The artwork in this manga (or any of Yamane Ayano's works) was simply amazing. In all fairness, she is one of the most talented artists in the manga industry to date. I love her style; the costumes are fabulous, the characters are flawless, and the backgrounds are breathtaking. And if all that wasn't enough, the storylines will hook you on the first page and won't let you go, even after you're done with the volume! You'll keep wanting more and more, and Ayano-sensei is perfectly willing to give it! ;) This series is a must read for any hard-core Yaoi lover, andyou will *never* regret the decision! The steamy passion and sexy characters will get your blood pumping. The humor will have you laughing to the point of tears. And the tender romance will set your heart to fluttering for days (or months ;) afterward. What's not to love? And there's even plenty of action for all you fantasy buffs (dragons, demons, and magic, oh my! ;D)

If I could, I would totally give this series a 500/10 stars! Alas, the counter only goes up to 10 *pout* But enjoy the volumes nonetheless! Happy Reading!

The artwork is some of the best and most consistent I've seen, the storyline is very entertaining and stronger than most of the fantasy genre of yaoi graphic novels without too many confusing side characters, add-in's, or plot twists that make so sense. A number of stories in one volume all interconnected, so you get lots of bang for your bucks. Definitely, definitely purchase this book if you are into yaoi with lots of action but not extremely graphic. It's exquisite in it's way, a wonderful addition to this theme, and I wouldn't part with this at all. I have Crimson Spell 2 alsoand can't wait until more come out. I am a Ayano Yamane fan :-)

I find this manga breathtaking. As most of Ayano Yamane's mangas, this one is drawn perfectly, to the last detail. Characters are strong-willed, absolutely gorgious. To tell you the truth, in my opinion, this is the only fantasy yaoi manga, that is fulfilled. I think that the idea, that author had in mind, is exactly the same as the one that is written and drawn. At least I get this feeling, because everything seems too perfect to be true. Hope it''ll stay so till the end.

I'm really not into fantasy BL, but I found that this manga totally turned the whole idea around! When mixing action and romance genres, things can get pretty difficult, yet Yamane Ayano's hard work on this piece was very apparent, as she managed to find the perfect blend while keeping her reader's attention upright! Not to mention the gorgeous art style~ Both her seme and uke are totally scrumptious, if you're into a pair of delicious men stirring things up without being, "Oh-my-god! Hearts-shojo-pretty-romance-lovey-dovey~♥♥" gay, then this is definitely in your reading range! The plot is actually quite original, one of the reasons I enjoyedit so much. A prince and a Magician with an obsession for all things rare and hard to capture go on an adventure to cure a curse...Doesn't sound like the summery for a yaoi manga, does it? But you'll actually be quite surprised! If I may not be to bold to say, the sex scenes are to die for!! Captivating bodies and smooth lines, the expressions and positions, you'll be sweating like an otaku who just found a stash of lolli manga~

I digress, The characters have a full palate of emotions and your bound to find a favorite with the variety provided! As the adventure continues, you'll surely find yourself entranced ~

So don't let this one slip away! It's for sure a read you'll recommend to all of your Boy Love friends!♥

While I like that there was a plot to this manga, I thought it could have been more coherent, and I hated the way that it normalizes rape. Rape does not equal love or romance or anything but rape! The art is truly gorgeous and worth looking at just for that purpose so long as you don't mind the more explicit scenes, some of which involve rape as a part of a bigger scheme of torture. Yes, I read the 5 volumes. But I wish I hadn't. Due to the heavy themes it wasn't really all that fun to readand I'm not sure I could really say that I enjoyed it. My recommendation is to know your limits and be forewarned that this manga just may try to break through all of them.

Not sure which "lovey dovey cute" manga you are reading, but the protagonist gets graphically raped by the love interest in the first chapter and it's not adressed - in fact it gives some slapdash explanation of "taking magic by raping into submission", of course not worded like this. This might be the grim and terrible time of 2000s BL where consent is an afterthought and everyone is blinded by the "pretty art and beautiful character design". BL blatantly showing rape and not handling it as such is a gripe I have had with the genre forever, it's getting better, but early BL is overrunwith this trope.

If you are fine with that, go ahead, for everyone else, skip it.
