Well, this is my very first review... so bear with me! So let's start!... Story: The story in my opinion was different from the regular shoujo/fantasy/romance setups. It was captivating from beginning to end... in fact... I didn't want it to EVER end. Everything was executed perfectly without any rushing nor dragging. When you can finish up a manga or anime and have that content feeling of satisfactory closure, but yet want more... you know the author did their job. Art: What can I say... Matsuri Hino's art is freakin' incredible. Completely beautiful, soft, magical, and SEXY! She's the true definition of a Shoujo Mangaka. If Icould ever have her commissioned to paint me something, I would die happy... 'nuff said!

Characters: I LOOOOVED the character development of Airi and Aram. Especially Aram. Neither of them were bland nor boring and you see the growth of the relationship at a strong and steady pace. Their relationship was the most endearing part of the story.

Enjoyment: I couldn't put it down. I just had to see what was gonna come next. That said... no need to go into how much I enjoyed it.

So, obviously overall... I gave it a 10. This manga is a real winner. In my humble opinion... the epitome of true shoujo romance. I pray for the day that this will be adapted to an anime... cause I would definitely watch it!

MeruPuri is one of my favorite manga. Personally I loved it from the first chapter and I finished in one day. The story is the usual "girl meets boy and boy meets girl" and they have to go through adventures to be together. Actually it has little stories in it and together they make all the story. Though the main problem is the age difference xD The art is great as expected from Hino Matsuri and anyone who has read Vampire Knight or Wanted know this . The thing that catches my eye when reading it is the eyes... always the eyes... She is one of myfavorite mangaka.

The characters are developing steadily and there isn't any sudden change in them but they show in depth their feelings and thoughts and reactions until they finally realize their own heart . Though don't forget that this is "girl meets boy and boy meet girl" so what they finally decide isn't hard to guess.

And, of course, you will enjoy it thoroughly. It has so many funny, sad, upsetting, angry, frustrating moments that you won't stop changing feelings.

Overall, it deserves a 8 because it combines a love story with magic and adventures in a small story and that's my favorite kind.

Meru Puri is a love story about Aram and Airi. Airi meets Aram when he comes out of het mirror^^heh. The arts are beautiful, the story is sweet And exiting, because Airi is a heroine. Aram is the kind of boy all girls want to have. if you like shoujo and fantasy, you really have to read this manga! Sometimes it is a little pervert, but it is really funny. My favourite manga! Airi walks to school one morning and loses her mirror. Suddenly a boy comes out of the mirror! A strange boy, who gets bigger in the dark and can only shrink when kissed byhis beloved. (Un?)fortunately he chose Airi as his beloved, so she has to kiss him, otherwise he will stay big forever. It is the start of a romantic relation with some troubles...Aram, the boy, is a prince from a magical kingdom and has a fiancee.

I'm going to try and keep this sweet and simple. Reading this story, I had no expectations. The story was alright. Knowing this was shoujo, I tried to think optimistically throughout the story and not get annoyed to a point I wanted to stop. The story was very predictable, and then again I say to myself-it's a shoujo. A 4 or 7 year old of course doesn't act as mature as Aram acted most of the time. I got confused about their ages especially. I'm going to guess that they're three years apart, even though the ages keep changing throughout the story. The only part Isignificantly enjoyed were the parts were Aram's reactions to his favorite anime, the Rangers.

The art was beautifully drawn, although I compliment all art.

The characters, once again, were unrealistic and in the back of my mind I couldn't image a seven year old being that committed to one woman. Let alone, think about women at that age. Airi annoyed be a bit, but she did have a bit of a backbone-so props for her.

In my opinion, overall, I would only read this if I was really bored. The story was absolutely cute in the beginning, but it just didn't workout for me in the end.

This was one of the first mangas I've read of Matsuri Hino when I was 13 (apart from Vampire Knight) and, at the time, it made it into my top "best mangas I've ever read". Now that I am 21 years old, I can see all the problematic stuff this manga has (the fact that Aram IS STILL A KID, even though his appearance says otherwise), or all the misogyny that is showed from characters such as Jeile or Razalude (even though it's showed with "humoristic purposes"). But being aware of those aspects does not mean that I did not enjoy rereading it, nostalgia factor involved.It is a good shoujo manga? Well, yes. The romance is showed beautifully, with an art that has a strong fairy-tale aesthetic. But, does it shows a healthy relationship? More or less. This is a manga from the 2000's, and healthy romance was not the norm back then.

So, would I recommend MeruPuri? Yes, if you keep in mind the toxic aspects, like the fact that Aram is a 7 year old kid that falls in love with a 17 year old teenager.

Welcome to my first review! Mind me, I just finished this series a few minutes ago. I had so much hope for this series because of the author, Matsuri Hino. I loved her art and the storyline in Vampire Knight. Though, reading this story, I found myself kind of disgusted by the storyline itself. I loved the art, the concept, but it includes love between a child and a teenager, not my thing. The story follows teenager, Airi, she's your usual hopeless romantic who hopes for a simple life in her future. She meets a boy, Aram, three years younger than her, and grows aromantic relationship with him, which may not sound bad until you find out that he is a literal child.. I don't like this at all and I find it creepy- I honestly found myself favoring the characters that weren't the main two so much more. There are aspects of magic, fantasy, and so much more, I found it so overall enjoyable to read besides the main aspect of the romance being borderline illegal. I don't like feeling like I have to vomit after reading each chapter so I can't recommend Merupuri unless you're willing to ignore it. The story was easy enough to follow, the art was outstanding, I loved the fantasy themes, it is just the age gap that doesn't sit right with me.

The storyline is pretty easy to follow from the start and comfortably introduces the weirdness through comedy. It progresses at a good pace and the feelings of each character come through patiently, leaving you wanting more. The different possible arcs in the series are interesting and make up most of the bulk of the first volumes. Towards the last two volumes, role-reversal is used to show how Airi comes to see things at anew. She is played on more as a heroine rather than a victim. The series definitely plays on the fairy tale aspect of it in a comedic way, making the whole idea of magica necessary, which makes for an enjoyable read. Now go read it if you haven't already! ^--^

I love short stories, and this one is perfect. With a cute and very funny story, MeruPuri is simply captivating. The art is absolutely beautiful, but that was expected coming from Hino Matsuri-sensei (same author of "Vampire Knight" and "Toraware no Minoue"). The characters and places are very well drawn and detailed. There are few characters, but they're all very likeable. Even the supposed villain is beautiful and incredibly sweet. So, through lots of romance and comedy, a bit of adventure and some delicious UST, MeruPuri is very fun to read! For the ones looking some light reading to spend a couple hours and have some good laughs,"aww"s and blushes; I highly recommend this. No drama, no complications and the only thing you'll be wishing and not getting is the smut beween these sexy characters.

10 out of 10 because MeruPuri totally rocks.

This series is hilarious, heartbreaking, ... and I was going to keep going with the 'h' theme but I can't think of any more. :P This is a rare manga series where I love everyone, even the 'villains'. I love how Airi tries to keep her sanity even when she is surrounded by all these magical boys and their drama. Aram is adorable; I can identify with how Airi feels when he goes back to being young after being old-- like a perv! This series is only four volumes long; the story wraps itself up nicely, but it would have been awesome if there wasmore. :D I definitely recommend MeruPuri to anyone who is into magical &/or romance manga.

This manga is good too. I just keep wonder why they don't want to make the anime? I love the spirit of Airi when she is fighting for her love. And also when she keep her pain because of Aram lost all his memories about her. Even I don't think that this such of perfect love really exist, I love this manga after all. It's quite good for girls (i don't think boys love this kind of story too, XD)

First off I just wanna say, this series was rather short (there's four books in all), but, please, do NOT let that stop you from reading this series! The overall story was AWESOME. Though in the beginning, it kind of creeped me out, but as it progressed through each chapter, I began to get more and more submerged into the story. 10/10 The art in this story was magnificent. I love Matsuri Hino's style of art. 10/10 The characters were also great. Quite interesting. 9/10 I thoroughly enjoyed the story. I wish Hino would add more to it, though. *gloom* 10/10 Overall, the story, art, and characters were wonderful.The story is definately nothing like some of her other works ("Vampire Knight" and "Wanted" to name a couple), so if you didn't like either of these, don't let that stop you from reading this one.

My first review ! ^^ Pls. tell me if there is any mistake here~ thank you :) Also, there might be some spoilers. (?) Story: 10/10 Very original! Makes me wonder what will happen next. Age gap? What's that? lol. Even though Airi is already 16 and Aram is still 7, they still continued loving each other. I like it when shoujo mangas end with characters at ease with each other. Art: 10/10 Cute, simple and beautiful. The expressions are so Kawaii~ The clothes Aram, Jeile and later Airi are really big and has too much designs. But, I like Hino-san's style of drawing. An example of a goodart in shoujo mangas.

Character: 8/10

To be honest, Airi's looks was a little plain. Also, I get confused with Aram and Jeile alot. Airi also reminds me of Rima of Vampire Knight, another one of Matsuri Hino's creations. Aram's messy hair ftw. xD And also, why are every guy in Meru Puri good looking? Is this heaven? xD

I'll miss reading this :( I enjoyed it alot, especially the funny moments and of course, the romantic Airi and Aram moments. In sad moments when Aram 'hurts' Airi, I tried not to show some tears, since my mom might think I'm crazy! Their kisses and moments are so touching, it's really beautiful. Though there are quite some little 'perverted' moments, it's some moments when Aram shows his love for Airi, right?

Overall, 10 out of 10! :) Matsuri Hino-san, thank you for sharing your fantastic story to us! This might become one of my all-time favorite mangas, since this is so heart-touching, like Hana To Akuma. Anyway, thanks for reading my review :)

I just finished this series and I must say it's one of the best romance shoujo mangas out there! The characters are drawn perfectly...down to the very lace. The art is fantastic as usual coming from Hino Matsuri and for a magical story, the plot can be considered unique and slightly unusual. Good news is that for once the female protagonist does not annoy me... The only things that bothered me are Aram and Airi's age difference and Lei and the Queen's suspicious relationship. The ending is also slightly too long, taking up about 3/4 of a volume, so long that I almost rushed through theunnecessary, but fun to read, side stories. Besides that, MeruPuri is certainly a worthwhile manga series that only lasts 4 volumes. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a heart-touching and sweet story combined with multiple drool-worthy bishies who, fortunately, tend to strip often.

In my opinion, although the characters personalities are different from the ones in Vampire Knight, their appearances are definitely strikingly similar. Like how Aram looks like Haruka (Kaname's father), Jeile looks like Kaname, and how Lei reminds me of Ichiru (and also Ichiru's obsession with an older, intimidating woman). Well, most authors would have repetitive characters, very much like how Meg Cabot, the author of The Princess Diaries, always has a set of characters that correspond in most of her books.

I read a preview of this years ago when it was sent to me by Viz. Finally got around to reading the whole thing. It still wasn't very good. I'm unsure if it's poor translation or what, but it seems like pages of story were removed in several places. Characters skip over important emotional and plot moments for no reason. For instance, after Airi nearly falls to her death off a cliff and gets rescued by Aram, after Raz is disappeared, Airi is immediately apparently over whatever happened between her and Raz, and we only learn after THAT scene is skipped straight to wherever they're staying,that Aram is not feeling well as a result of the altercation. This happens multiple times and it leaves a relatively fast-paced story feel even more like a horse race.

The overall story seems to be that if you are sexy, and keep following someone around, and getting into their personal space, and get them to sort of become your maid, and order them around, and act territorial, and attempt to interfere in that person's friendships, then that person will fall in love with you. One moment Airi is very aware that Aram is a seven-year-old. The next, she is spontaneously head over heels in love with him because he can transform into someone who looks her age and is hot. Yeah, they're both still minors since she's 15, but it's just... odd.

Even beyond them, the character dynamics are all over the place. The opening of the story makes it seem like the story is about a jealous brother attempting to remove the other brother from the line of succession. Maybe an "I should be King, not you" situation. That goes nowhere. It turns into a kind of joke that's only really solved at the end in a rather disturbing, off-handed fashion. A lot of shoujo will do that with this kind of stuff, but I haven't read one before where it was this poorly handled.

Lei seems to have a weird attraction to Aram as a child, sort of as a stuffed animal, sort of as... I honestly have no idea. Then he turns possessive. Then he will literally BRAINWASH Aram to... to protect him? Then Lei reveals this undercover sort of affair with the Queen for no apparent reason other than that literally EVERYONE in this story falls in love with their person of affection on first sight and plot points are dropped randomly, with little to no emphasis. What happened to Raz? Oh, this guy who was important in Astale's history just left and he probably has descendants and Nakaoji may or may not know. What's the Queen up to? Well... she's possibly evil? What's the King up to? Not much, apparently he can retire. Why is the King letting all his subjects cross this forbidden boundary crossing? Cause. Why does Aram need to learn about our world? Cause. What was Jeile's punishment, and what does the chain do? Who cares, cause we don't get to find out.

The jokes are typically "this thing is cute, look how cute, isn't cat-fighting cute?". The frequent brainwashing, assault, implied sexual assault... Isn't it great when all women see each other as enemies, rather than people who might be stuck in an unfortunate situation? Airi makes no female friends until about the end of the story. Her first female friend is shown being judgmental because Airi's standards are too high. Later, when Airi reveals her crush, that friends says they're rivals. This is the generic catfighting bs I always hate in these stories. And then of course she has one guy friend who isn't making fun of her for having high standards or spreading rumors about her love or sex life, and he's a potential suitor, like basically everyone around her but Lei, which means that all the guys around her either want to get in her skirt or otherwise manipulate her. It's actually pretty terrible, particularly given her isolation at home.

And then of course there's the way the nobles in this fantasyland we know next to nothing about treat everyone who isn't another prince or the King or Queen like dirt. I get it, class system and all that... And Big Brother citizens... What an amazing fantasyland I'm so curious about it! It doesn't have to be a perfect utopia, but Airi's world seems to only exist to have Airi in it. Certainly the school system has no value whatsoever (plot-wise, other than giving characters an excuse to be around Airi for five seconds before we move to people walking around somewhere else), she has no visible support system, since we never see her family, and the only named student who isn't from Astele is a sort of crush she has for a minute or five. And the rest of the time, Astele is interfering with her school life in one way or another. So you've got one world we don't care about because everything is either about Aram or Airi surviving the hijinks created by the magic foreigners, and another world that sucks a lot and isn't that interesting. So there's nowhere in this story universe that we want to stay. And a cast of by and large sameface male characters with different hairstyles who are by and large pretty screwed up and have no comprehension of boundaries.

I'm also unsure if it's the translation or the actual dialogue, but the dialogue is at turns either ridiculously drawn out and dry, or petulant and stupid.

This was earlyish in Hino Matsuri's career, and I've never read/watched "Vampire Knight", so I like to think her art improved since this. All the men (except the King) between the ages of 15-20s look the same: generic skinny with some abs maybe. Everyone has giant eyes on tiny skinny faces that drown out all other expression without actually showing any expression, like the big eye concept is SUPPOSED to, the women are all 'sexy' sticks. Backgrounds are usually good when they are used, or voids when not. Detailed outfits look like a glitter machine and a ribbon machine went crazy, with no rhyme or reason for actual outfits that even look good in the slightest.

Overall, it's not a great fish out of water/sexy born yesterday story (not that the latter ever really are). If you want a good fish out of water story about friendships and character development and magic and interdimensional travel, particularly with an emphasis on female friendships and some love triangles, read "Ultra Maniac". You want a funny reverse harem story, watch "Ouran High School Host Club". You want a great fish out of water/sexy born yesterday with the same dynamic (woman from our world, guy is the fish), watch "George of the Jungle". Skip this.

Personally for me, Meru Puri's plot is very similar to most fantasy series. A person from a completely different realm is sent to the human world, and falls in love with a human. What makes it different from most is the fact that there are certain twists in every episode that makes you want to read on to the next and never leave your computer screen. Matsuri Hino proved to me that he is a great writer, and has a wild imagination. For me Meru Puri is something that every girl should put on their "must read" list, because I am quite sure everyone will likeit as much as I do.

This manga was amazing(: The story was such an enjoying short story. It probably would've been one of those sotires that ended up getting boring if it was too long. But...when it was over, i still wished it was longer ha :P The art was just soooo purdy :3 the boys werent just smexii....they were also beautiful x3 hah The personalities of the characters were great. The main character had such a fun personality ^-^ she was a optimistic girl who kinda reminded me of tohru from fruits basket...but also reminded me of thre pessimistic from heart no kuni no alice. I enjoyed this storyso muuuuch :D hehee read it >D

I'm not much of a Shoujo person but I found this to be quite enjoyable. It's not the best, most gripping tale of all time, but I found it cute and different than what i typically read. The art was very good. I very much liked the characters and the overall humor of this manga. I didn't have that much of a problem with the 8 year age gap. One of the problems i did have with this manga was the maturity level of Aram, a 7-year-old boy. I don't think anybody was that mature in their speech and actions, and aware enough to knowhow to act romantic towards a lady, at age 7. Even with the spell he still had the mind of a 7 year old. I'm ok with some logical inaccuracies in fiction but I thought that was pushing it a little.

But overall it was a sweet story about an ordinary girl and a magical prince that fall in love and live happily ever after :)

Okay. This romance is a little weird with a 7 yr old boy and a 15/16 year old girl. This boy is a prince and she is someone with an ancestor who was considered a traitor in this prices territory in the magical kingdom of Astell. This prince's older brother put a spell on him so he turn around this girl age in the darkness and the kiss of the woman he loves will turn him back to normal. With her ancestor being a "traitor" and all it is hard for her and the prince to love. The "magic", "ancestor" part of the story wasn't allthat serious but it centered on romance. Overall it is a good manga.

A blast from the past. I was able to grab the complete series and I loved it. As a sucker for romance shoujo, I can honestly say this one had me about half the time. While it was good, I was a bit confused because of the entire marriage. Without giving spoilers, it was a cute yet confusing issue for me. But the plot was good enough that you really could forget about it until it popped up again. so Matsuri Hino did a great job with that! The heart-throbbing moments, the drama, the childish antics, and the betrayal. All totally worth it.

I really liked this manga. It's a hidden jem that I found in a used bookstore. There being 4 valumes makes it easy to read without spending a lot on Mony on it.my only concern is that the main character who is a child who looks around 10 falls in love with a highschooler and honestly that's creepy. But it's interesting. If you come across this series it's a good read if you like romance. Story: it's good for a romance, and it's unique compared to the other shojo manga I read. Some parts made my heart leap and I couldn't stop reading it. Evenso it is really creepy how a 15 year old girl falls in love with I believe a 7-10 year old. There is also some incest in there too. But if you are not bothered by that your probably fine.

Art: the art is a topical big eye sparkly background shojo manga. But I'm bias about that art stile if it's well done. And it is.

Characters: honestly besides the main girl and the older prince the personalities are a little bland.

Enjoyment: it's not for everyone but I enjoyed it.
