Reviews for Akaiito
Back to MangaAt this point, there are only four chapters available online so it may not be enough to leave a proper review, but I think that more people should give this manga a try as it is good. Story(7): This story is about six (or seven?) teenagers. Two girls and the rest boys. The girls are best friends and they meet those two guys who are also best friends. Then there's a guy one of the girls had a crush on and her brother who has a crush on her best friend. Anyway, I found this manga good because it's a little different from the usual shoujo.I mean, the story focuses on both girls' stories, not just one.
Art(8): It's good. Typical shoujo, but good. The boys are handsome and the girls cute.
Characters(7): First of all, the characters are not a total cliche. Yes, there is the bad boy but he is interesed in a girl and he shows it. He's not acting like a jerk and then the girl miraculously falls in love with him. There's also the outgoing type of girl who would normally be extremly popular, but she isn't. She's normal. Then there's the girl's best friend who is a bit shy, but not the blush-every-type-he-says-a-word type. The story is more real because the characters are more real.
Enjoyment(8): Like I said, it's different and good. I can't wait for the next chapters to be published.
Overall(8): Give it a try. Totally.
Feedback is always welcome. =)
Hmm...how should i say this... This manga is a...confusing manga to review. The story starts off with this comedic hyped up prologue that consists of the intro of 7 characters. Immediately I thought it will be a comedic vingette revolving around the 7 because the summary mentions the "red strings of fate" that connects them. The second prologue chapter dives deeper with this concept, giving a sneak peak of what the manga was like. I was actually pretty hyped up about reading the manga, it seemed interesting and unique since I like manga that focuses on a range of characters instead of just the coupleprotagonists. However that came crashing down when I realize it wasn't actually like that. I guess the mangaka changed her mind or something because the actual manga turned out to be totally different. It turned out to be more like your typical rom-com shoujo manga with two protagonists and their best friends who adds to the story when only when convenient and nothing to do with a connecting string of fate. Basically, of the 7, 2 are main, 2 are semi-main, but really do not add much to story at all (i guess they are actually side characters then?), 1 pops up during the beginning and middle as a love rival, and then randomly appears at the end just to tie the characters up to the finale, 1 hardly even appears, only showing up around 5 times maybe for brief moments, and the last character of the supposed 7 didnt even make an appearance at all.
The characters are all right, its hard to find characters that break out of the shoujo characters archetypes. This manga's characters does a pretty ok job at trying to break out of them. For one, the main guy has light hair instead if dark lol. He would most resemble the "flashy-playboy-turned-loyal" type, however he wasnt a playboy at all really. Although he teases the main girl a lot, like how most of the main males act, he is way more chill than most, being happy-go-lucky rather than sadistic. The main girl would be the tsundere type and although she cried a bunch, its an upgrade from the submissive crybaby type that dominates the heroine role of shoujo manga. The others didn't make much appearance to really judge but they are alright, following an archetype with some differences.
The art was pretty good. I liked the character designs well enough and the proportions and facial expressions makes sense.
In all, to be honest, I was disappointed and kinda felt cheated because the manga wasnt what it was suppose to be like at all. Not so say what the manga actually was is bad, because it's not. Its a pretty decent rom-com shoujo and I would still recommend even though its not like the summary description. I guess its fine if you skip the prologue chapters?
After reading 13 chapters and taking a look at the raws, I'm actually a bit disappointed in this manga. It started out so well; seven girls and boys are connected by the red string of fate and start out their high school life filled with lots of love and drama. The downside after 26 chapters is simply, that the main character, a girl named Chihiro, who is dubbed in earlier chapters as the ice queen, becomes quite pathetic and a blushing mess. And here I thought too, that the story would actually not just be about her and her significant other, but would also include her best friend.Granted she did have two chapters as well, but not as nearly as much coverage as Chihiro, even though that would certainly make the manga much more interesting.
I would love it, if the mangaka would actually provide us with a bit more insight into the other characters, not just the girls, the boys as well. For example how Chihiros brother came to be in love with Rina etc.
I'm not sure, but I think at least one other main character has not been introduced yet (delinquent boy). Maybe the story will actually set off afterwards and take some interesting turns.
As for the art, I like it, nothing too fancy but the style is consistent and the characters are easily kept apart. Though the constant blushing of the female characters might be tedious after some time.
The characters are so far pretty one-dimensional.
The mangaka uses the steorotypical character designs of shoujo manga and also her previous works. Of course there's a mean ex-girlfriend and a pushy main guy, who likes to tease the main girl and sometimes won't take a 'No' seriously, for example when the girl does not want to get kissed.
Eventually, I do not like the manga that much, but I also don't hate it. It provides me with some superficial angsty reading stuff, which is so far, fine. However I do hold out hope, that the manga might at least surprise me with some interesting turns of events. Otherwise it won't be any better than most mediocre shoujo manga.
Ok.... so I read the "completed" manga but it was so lackluster. Like most of the reviews say, it started off interesting (which it did) but was not what you initially expected. I would have loved to see the characters develop differently but it felt like the mangaka rushed the rest of it after a few chapters and solely focused on developing only one couple instead of a few of them. I also thought it was as confusing as everyone else said. There was way too much going on but it was not written properly on paper. This manga had so much potential to bean interesting story but the ball dropped and this seems to be the result, a subpar manga.
As of now, only 11 chapters are eng subbed, but I'll try to write this review to the best of my abilities. Story: Can't exactly say how the story will go later, but I'm actually loving the plot as of now. We're just starting to find out the main characters' feelings for each other and the environments and secondary characters also start to develop and flourish. And plus, the romance moves at a good pace with there being physical tension early on :D Art: Loving the art as well; everyone just looks so dashing (talking about the guys specifically) while the girls are a bit onthe cute side.
Character: I actually found the heroine to be a bit realistic for once, when compared to other shoujo mangas, she's dubbed as the "ice princess" by many people and she can definitely stand up for herself (most of the times). The main guy is sort of a player (what else is new?) but he definitely has his charming sides as well. Overall, I do like this combo, although it's not too unique nor refreshing but it's still nice to see.
Enjoyment: Thoroughly enjoyed the first 11 chapters thus far but not exactly sure why; could be the plot, could be the characters, or both! If you love romance and shoujo just as much as I do then I definitely recommend you to check this out! (Although it seems that this manga is a bit under the radar?)
Overall: I know that there are at least 25 chapters out already, but only 11 chapters been officially subbed. I have read bits and pieces from different sites after the 11th chapter and I have to say that there's just more good stuff coming up so don't drop it yet because it'll probably be awhile for the new chapters to be subbed and officially released.
