Boku no Hatsukoi wo Kimi ni Sasagu (I’ll Give You My First Love) is a refreshing Shoujo, Romance, Drama, Slice of Life about the promised love that may not be fulfilled. A bittersweet tale that will likely end in heartache. If only it wasn't so melodramatic about everything... Well here's an interesting manga that follows the story of two childhood friends; Takuma & Mayu who’ve known each other since they were 8 yrs old. They are close. So close in fact that they want to remain together forever, but Takuma may not be able to keep that promise, due to his heart condition. Knowing that, itis easy for anyone to become wary of this manga, seeing how it has all the usual trappings to become a tragic romance. Nonetheless the story is just too great to pass up on. The beginning of the story certainly progresses rapidly, skipping years at a time, but the pacing slows down nicely once they reach middle school. It is from that point on that the shoujo romance really kicks in and what's interesting is how it mostly tells the story from the guy's perspective, instead of the girl's and how his thoughts and conflicting feelings are all portrayed in a way that gives off the same feel as a diary/memoir, preparing the reader for what’s to come. However I did have some issues with how melodramatic certain moments were and how unnecessary all the spoilerific, foreshadowing was. It's these little annoyances and some others, in the latter half, that prevent the story from being as intriguing it should have been.

With the story mostly focusing on Takuma & Mayu, they really had to be great characters, to leave an impression on the reader and they certainly left an impression but I can't exactly say great. I mean sure, I started of initially being captivated by the pair and how realistically portrayed they were. Seeing their personal struggles in life really gripped me. However as the story progresses they suffer from some inconsistencies, in both plot and personality. There’s also quite a lot of supporting characters and they all managed to contribute to the overall story, in some way. But too often that contribution results in some truly interesting side characters being used, merely as devices to drive the plot forward.

Now we come to the aspect of a manga, that I have become more and more critical of over the years... the artwork. Compared to most shoujo manga out there, the artwork is quite remarkable, with the characters having nicely defined looks and appealing styles. Unfortunately I've seen it all before, since it has all the typical shoujo characteristics. This mangaka really lacks that truly defines her work but she's certainly put more effort than most.

Overall BokuKimi undoubtedly gives off the impression of a tragic romance; however the very touching story makes the reader think more about the present moment and not about what may happen in the end. But there's no telling what will happen, because there's always this sense of hope, as the reader strives on to see how it all comes together. The romance is endearing, which eventually culminates into something truly passionate and engaging. The bits of comedy tend to pivot between jarring and entertaining. So there you have it. BokuKimi in a nutshell. Personally I enjoyed finally reaching the end of this touching story, however I wish I could have fully enjoyed my time getting there. If only it wasn't so melodramatic.

“There is a time limit on my life..” Love, Laughter, sadness, tragedy….life. I don’t read sad…anything. I prefer fluffy and funny (I’m a sap). But I had to read this one but I didn’t want read all the volumes and to be disappointed. So I did what any person in my shoes would do, I watched the movie first. Wow, that didn’t go as I planned at all. Further research proved that both end differently and having already gotten hit by one train, what was one more? Summary: Mayu met Takuma for the first time in the hospital. Her dad was doctor there and she was always playingaround, pretending to be one herself. They were 8 at the time, they became best friends in a short time. She was fun and accepted him, saw past his heart condition. He was her friend. That summer they make a promise to each other, a promise they won’t be able to keep.

Characters:

Unlike most manga this one is one of it’s kind in plot alone but the characters are what give it that extra push over to amazing. I’m not kidding either. Takuma tells the story, which makes the movie different since it’s from Mayu’s perspective.

Takuma as a kid is cute and… pure you could say. As the story progresses you see him morph, change into the person he needs to. Making choices he feels he needs to make. He was strong and weak at the same time. He was strong through his weakness, if that makes any sense.

Mayu , she’s the person you want by your side always. I mean he noticed when he was 8, how great she was. She was determined and in love. To save him, to protect him. Those two qualities have indefinite possibilities when combined. In the first chapter she overhears something she shouldn’t and it changes her.

They did an exceptional at making you feel what they feel.

[going any further in summary or in characters will give spoilers and you don’t want those…really you don’t]

The other thing I liked, apart from what I stated above, was the time line in the manga. I hate reading anything and feeling like the days drag on and the whole book/manga finished and only 2 weeks went by. That’s not the case with this one. It shows cause and effect in a timely matter, you could say.

The art was good, and the drawings made what they were going through seem real and genuine.

This manga is hard to summarize, characters and plot are serious yet funny and you will laugh out loud but also cry. I’m a sucker for boys crying…

It has sorrow and pain but it also has laughter and life. It is by my definition a slice of life.

this is the most cry-making manga i ever read. the romance in it, and the sadness, will make anyone weep in tears. it has pure love in it, and the sad sweetnest of never being completley able to be happy. but don't think that it's just some super-sad manga - it also has parts that will make you smile like there is no bad in the world. this manga reflects so many emotions in it, that i'm sure anyone that will read it will fall in love with it.

'I can't kiss you,I can't hug you,I can't love you because I can't give you happiness' What would you do,if you loved someone so much but you have a limited period of time to do so? (Warning:If you do not like tragedic stories, please do not continue) Our main character,Takumi and Mayu, had been friends since their childhood days.Takumi, the main lead has a heart condition since his child days and so he was often hospitalised and he was not allowed to do vigorous exercises. The doctor incharge of him,was the father of Mayu. The two of them, soon fell in love. They even had their firstkiss when they were in a camp...It was perfect...Until...

Takumi suddenly went to a boarding school, where he would be separated from Mayu.Mayu then follows suit to pursue him.Takumi, who still loved Mayu pretended not to love her .He even dyed his hair.Mayu's resolve went even higher, and she tried to win Takumi back.Even after winning him back, there were still a lot of trouble ahead.

Takumi had very little time left because the doctors said that he might not be able to live up to 20,at most at 20 before he dies. So,at 16 with the time that is running through his fingers, what will the two couple, against the world of tragedic do?Will he go through the risk and do th surgery at 50% living and 50% dying?Or will he do nothing about it???Ido t like spoiling the whole story in the end so I will just say that the ending was beautiful. There are quite area things I didn't add in and therefore you should really read the manga to know.If you want to skip the childhood time, skip to chapter 12-15 to see the last few chapter and move to the main plot :D

In my opinion,I think that the story was both tragedic and beautiful. It had quite a lot of humour and a lot of crying.I for one, laughed like a mad dog and cried like a baby.My mom even called me mad.So I really recommend you to read it.For a better understanding and the missed out parts like their engagement.

Boku no Hatsukoi o Kimi ni Sasagu is the story about a boy who has a heart condition. Like a horrible heart condition. Like if he breathes too hard he will pass out. He has been told that he will die at the age of 20. so the series is about the ticking time bomb that the boy's heart is and his love interest who's doing everything in her power to make his life better. Now this series was pretty shit in the beginning .The problem wasn't really the story. The story itself is fine. Drama heavy and constant anxiety of how it can get worseare fun to read. But this series was just a mess. Explained BS characters that kept trying to get between the MMC and FMC. This was pretty much the constant drama that kept showing up it was annoying as it was infatuating. The series does not understand the meaning of pacing yourself at all.

There was some scenes i did like however like the scene in a flashback where the kid had to pee in diaper. He felt humilated and it was heart breaking. Like imagine being forced in a situation like this its disturbing as it as horrifying. I also enjoyed the kisses but not the romantic cuz there was no real build up or tension .Really more of the smutty ones and even then they weren't that good.

One of the big issue i had with this series is the art. I like shoujo art its good but not when the eyeballs are 1/4th the size of your face **EACH**. Its genially ridiculous and by far one of the worst artstyle's i've ever seen. Some of the art was good too look at and the double page spreads the author had the right idea (again with the kisses double pages). But man this was awful to look at.

BY far the worst thing about this series is the characters. Holy shit. These are some of the most brain dead stupid idiotic characters i have seen. This makes dense harem characters actually smart. Like how much of an idiot can one person be? So you see this guy asks this doctor due to his condition if he can have sex? Except that the doctor knows that the man is dating his daughter. WTF!!! Another moments is when the guy literally says that he did to the dad's face. I cannot understand the reasoning of any character in the series. The characters aren't unlikeable but they are brain dead. The only interesting and fun character was Kou and he was kind of a Richard for most of the series. regardless he definitely is part of the reason i enjoyed the latter half.

I did somewhat enjoy volume 7-9 cuz it seemed to have finally calmed down, characters generally become more endearing and fun. Author decided to pace herself and honestly if this was the end that might mean the series might've ended on a strong turn. Sadly though Japenese creators don't know how to write endings so they decided to leave one of the most important side plot points open and give a rushed ending.

There is also the issue of most of the characters looking like they are 25 when they are actually 12 so when the 2nd half starts which is set 5 years later everyone looks 0.3% older physically. It is ridiculous. It feels like the author was too lazy to create separate character designs so they just stuck with one for 5 years during puberty.

TLDR: This series is not good. It had a good strong core concept. and though its brisks along its a huge mess. Poor performances in art characters, dialogue and even romance. This was a mess all around and you should do yourself a favour and keep away from this horrible series. 1/10

If you're fore a story that will capture you're whole heart, then this is the one. This story will make you smile, laugh, feel warm around your heart, and maybe as it did for me make you cry. This love that Mayu and Takuma has is simply beautiful.. He struggles with the thought "I am not allowed to me with Mayu, because if i can't make it until my twentieths year then i will only give her pain" Meanwhile Mayu is totally confused and does not get why Takuma is avoiding her, even though she knows that he loves her. This story will make you fallin love with all of the characters, and you will be dying to know what happens next, what will he/she do now or will he make it. In every chapter, let's say it's not a story that you will easily put aside or forget.

I suck at writing reviews and can't go in depth but I will just list what I felt while I was reading this manga. I haven't finished reading this manga , however, I give it a rating of (1x10^ Trillion)(1x10^Trillion) out of 10. It is absolutely mesmerizing ! I LOVE THISSS MAANGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !! Sorry I really needed to get that of my chest. This was an extremely beautiful story. I have honestly never read anything so beautifully crafted in my entire life. I felt really close to the character's and could feel their pain and sorrow, as well as their ill-fated love. My heart in particular reaches outto Takuma. It takes a courageous man to bring himself pain by telling the girl that he truly and deeply loves that he doesn't. His personality is also soooooooooo sweeeeeeeet

Simply the best manga I've ever read. Takuma is a boy who was born with a cardiovascular disease, his life expectancy is less than 20 years. Since he was a child, he has had a close relationship with his cardiologist's daughter, Mayu, whom he promised to marry when he turned 20 years old. However, as time passes, Takuma becomes increasingly confused about whether he should fulfill his promise knowing about his fate. Let me warn you that it is a very dramatic manga, especially because it deals with issues related to life and death, but, in fact, it could be much more dramatic than it actually is.Despite its sad theme, the narrative's humor is very good, I had a lot of fun even though it's a story from almost 20 years ago. An observation that needs to be made in relation to this manga is precisely because it deals with problematic themes in a non-ideal way, I chose to ignore moments like these, after all, as it was written years ago in Japan it is not to be expected a ultra-awareness of problematic topics. Changing the subject, I really liked the characters, without exception, they all have an incredible presence and the absence of any of them is missed. Regarding the ending, well, it broke me in half, I'm torn apart, if the objective of this story was to make me die from crying, they managed it very well, and it wasn't just at the end, I found myself crying many times, especially in Kou's part. I just wish Mayu and Takuma could have a movie romance like they always dreamed of, but we all know that's not a realistic reality. For at least a week I found myself thinking randomly during the day about this manga, its characters, its ending, etc. I was definitely marked by it, and I'm sad that I hadn't read it sooner.

Note: I wrote this while I was almost asleep, sorry if it doesn't make sense.

Read many romance stuff so going into this wasn't new. Begins with telling of the two main characters childhood. However as the story progresses on how the main female lead learns whats to happen to her friend, she becomes sadden and makes the resolve to be with him for all his life and hopes what she learned doesn't happen. While it does sound like any other shojo manga, the story engrosses you in feeling the main males lead and his struggles to gain his own happiness or give it up for the happiness of another. The main female lead struggles to fight for her happinessand support the one she cares for while encountering obstacles. The two live life at the same time capturing the reader, specifically me because i'm a sucker for romance, in feeling for what they're going through. Normally most romance stories i read all sorta are the same, but this provided a new enjoyment that I normally don't see often.
