Reviews for Private Prince
Back to MangaPrivate Prince is a typical romance manga, sprinkled with timely comedic situations... Story (10) The story involves a prince (Will) transferring to a university in japan and a girl (Miyako) who has a dream of becoming a historian (actually it is rather an obsession!). Miyako is desperate, as her thesis involves the late princess of Etolia but she hadn't even started work due to lack of raw data. Fortunately Will happens to be the grand child of her, she goes to meet him but finds out that Will has a fetish for big boobs rather (she has rather big ones) and then he sets forth acondition which sets the life of Miyako to take a turn for the better and maybe for the worst.
The story has a good pace and one never gets annoyed as it progresses. There are no fillers which makes it a very good read. The hesitation of Miyako and the aggression of Will set forth many troublesome situations and also many romantic encounters including sex which are beautifully expressed and make an emotional impact on ones heart.
Art (9)
The art is outstanding and really delves the reader into the story of the manga. As private prince is a romantic one, the emotional scenes should be the focus, and they are fabulously rendered and drawn, drawing out the expressions of both the protagonists in a lovey manner. It is so captivating that I even resorted to my room, the whole 8 hrs I continuously red it.
Characters (10)
The main protagonists, Will and Miyako are the focus of the story and thus are wonderfully explained with their backgrounds and grown with care. The experiences of Miyako as she falls in love with Will, makes her more confident and the slowly maturing Will makes a really good combination. Apart from them, the supporting cast is also given a healthy dose of attention and their life affairs and their relationships are all given appropriate time. Which also impact on the protagonists' lives and thus make the experience even more richer.
Enjoyment (10)
The enjoyment factor is really the best part of the story. The deep story, excellent artwork and great characters bring about a real delightful experience. One can never get bored by the frequent troubles faced by the couple (rather by Miyako), the usual surrenders by Miyako due to her inferiority complex against the world of Will and then the encouraging Will who always gives her the confidence to make her able to stand by his side, really captivates the reader and even after the satisfying ending, one really is left for more of the same!
Overall (10)
Overall it is a must read for romance genre fans, I highly recommend it!
Story 8/10 The story is really great. Despite of containing all the motifs we are used to (affair with another lady which is fake, family problems, the characters ending up in stupid situations because instead of talking to each other they have sex ;-) it is ok. Mainly because of the setting - royal family, prince charming and an average girl. Art 10/10 EM has a cute and very precise style of her own; one may love it, the other hate it. I'm definitely in the first group. It's a tenner because of the fact that finally the characters don't look as in every other manga drawn bythis author.
Charas
7/10
They're cute, well drawn but sadly cliche. the girl is shy, clumsy and inexperienced and never ever does she think twice before getting into another fishy situation. the guy is perverted, good-looking and mean, but as the action develops we discover (suprise suprise) that he is in fact kind-hearted and a cool bishie.
Enjoyment
8/10
definitely fun to read. not too long. has a positive ending :-)

I recommend this to josei lovers, it's labelled shoujo but it has some josei in it:)
Miyako is a university student with a thesis about Princess Ritsuko, how she's lucky, thsbut she's OBSESSED with the topic!. Fortunately, The prince Wilfred arrives to the university, so is her opportunity to obtain more info for her thesis!. But she doesn't know that the prince have only angel face, and he LOVES HIGH BOOBS.
Highly enjoyable and fun read. We do see some pretty predictable scenarios but nothing goes stale. The story moves along quite nicely and doesn't dwell too long on character inadequacies. The art was great. The Prince reminds me of Tamaki from Ouran and our main girl, who is supposed to have a F-cup bra wasn't drawn to look like that. Her proportions fit. Can you imagine drawing F-cups? They'd take up the whole page! I did think there would be more smut but the sex scenes were tastefully presented.
What seemed at first to be a typical smut manga, where the seductive male lead seduces the female, turned out differently than I expected. Story: Private Prince focuses more on the troubles that Prince Wilfred and Miyako have to overcome before they can both truly love each other. It is deeper than most romance manga plots and had me hooked throughout the entire read. Expect a lot of drama while reading Private Prince. Art: Well, the art is pretty well done, but isn't too distinctive. It does get the job done though and the characters sometimes look pretty well done.Character:
Private Prince revolves around the characters Miyako and Prince Wilfred. Both characters are well fleshed out and are three diminsional.
Overall, Private Prince is a great manga, not the best, but nevertheless a good read.
Well, for me it's more or less. (I feel a little insecure about putting a mediocre note in the midst of these comments from 10 years ago only saying good things). Story: I really liked it at first, but then it got more and more boring and repetitive, and I know I sound kind of lazy to get bored with a 25-chapter manga, but it happens. However, something I can praise about the story is its more mature approach, I believe that it is not very common to see shoujo manga with a more erotic narrative, so I was very pleased in that regard. Art: I didn'tsee anything too much, it reminded me a lot of other mangas I had read, like Hapi Mari, I didn't get to see if they were by the same author or something (or if I'm crazy and these mangas don't even look alike).
Characters: Honestly, I found Wilfred quite irritating, actually, but it could also be the heartbreak I get from seeing a woman submissive to a man she doesn't "deserve".
Enjoyment: I liked it up to a certain point, although I found it quite boring after a part.

How this manga is so highly rated is a mystery to me. The ML is off the rip a douchebag, and the FL is your typical wet blanket damsel in distress. The ML acts shitty, traps her in a gross power-dynamic, and manages to MULTIPLE TIMES manipulate sex out of her and OF COURSE she's resistant but "secretly likes it". This manga left a sour taste in my mouth every. single. chapter. The art is no doubt pretty, but that wont cover up how horribly written every male character is. No matter how sad of a backstory you give the ML, I wont magically manage toforget how abusive he is to the FL.
I love shitty romance manga just as much as the next person, but this is just. gross.
It's exactly as the first (and only) "Not recommended" reviewer said, this manga is absolute garbage, and I'm actually very disappointed that this was ever recommended to me. I was looking for a proper romance story about a brooding and cold ML who starts off very aloof and harsh, but overtime he slowly opens up when he meets the timid and gentle FL, but that doesn't happen at all. What I get instead is in the first few chapters, the ML (Will) attempts to sexual assault the FL (Miyako), and the rest of the story is basically just that! Hell, the moment he first laideyes on her, he only noticed her breasts, commenting to his butler (or whatever tf he's supposed to be) that they looked like 'melons.'
I finally had enough after ch. 4 or 5, when Miyako was stressing herself out because she had assumed Will was homesick since his usual demeanor had changed. One thing led to another, and the prick, once again, forces himself onto Miyako, this time with the two of them sleeping together, not because Miyako herself is in love with that prick, but because she felt bad and wanted to comfort him. Turns out, there was nothing wrong with him AT ALL, and he successfully slept with Miyako, laughing it off by telling her she "secretly enjoyed it.", despite Miyako being visibly upset over basically being raped. The story actually gaslights the reader into believing that what Will did was okay by treating the scene like some wholesome and funny moment. The guy literally tells Miyako that, despite Miyako's protest, it was fine because she "secretly enjoyed it." And the worst part is, he was technically right. Eventually, she begins to fall in love with the prick simply because he had a tragic past or some shit (I hardly know because I didn't care to read any further).
After that, I reluctantly continue to read to see if Miyako at least attempts to confront Will for basically forcing himself on her, and while it seemed that she called him out on it, the story turns the blame on Miyako because she's "Just being stubborn and doesn't want to fall in love with Will because her heart was broken before", not because Will is a manipulative piece of shit. Are you joshing me...? She actually enjoys being tricked and harassed by some arrogant douche who only cares about her big chest and body, what a degenerate. What a pathetic waste of a shoujo manga.
Do not waste your time with this disgusting excuse for a shoujo romance. The power imbalance between the ML and FL is frustrating and gross to read through. I'm all for the Arrogant Guy x Bashful Girl dynamic if it's done right, and this story is definitely not it. The FL never grows a backbone to stand up and reject the ML simply because he has information that she needs for her stupid college thesis paper, and the ML is such an insufferable asshole that I don't even have the energy to list everything I loathe about him.
I'm giving it, at most, a 2/10 because at least the art is rather pretty to look at, but don't bother with this disaster of a story, it definitely ruined my day, lol.
I haven't enjoyed a manga this much in a long time. I typically don't enjoy sexually comedic or dramatic manga, but this one uses it to its advantage with the comedic timing. I seriously have not laughed out loud while reading a manga, or any comic for that matter, in forever. The characters are enjoyable yet not without flaw. I wish the girl was a bit less insecure with their relationship, but maybe that's just me. The art was a great modern style, typical for most of today's manga, but beautifully done. The story was somewhat believable, if you believe that a boob obsessed princeexists and finds his soulmate in a nerdy Japanese woman. The interactions between the characters are natural and the choices they need to make parallel real life problems.
