I'll take this as a privilege for being the first to review this manga. Even though there's only chapter 1 available, I guess I'll be biased because I've already read all the English translations of the BL Drama CD (Deadlock, Deadheat & Deadshot) and listened to it. Though I haven't read the actual novel.. but it's still the same anyway. And I'm sure this manga will get alot of ATTENTION once the later chapters will be released. Story: 10/10 Of course.. I bet Deadlock will remind you of Under Grand Hotel of Sadahiro Mika-sensei because of the same setting. Prison. But no. It's not really the same. Imean the plot. Though there are some circumstances that will really remind you of UGH.

Yuuto Lennix was a DEA investigator and was framed up for murdering his partner, Paul. Thus he was sent to Schelger Prison. But an FBI investigator offered him a deal. If he were to find a certain man (a criminal who is hiding in the prison - ironic isn't? XD) then he will get an immediate release.

Then there he will meet Dick Burnford. Dick is Yuuto's cellmate. If you're familiar with Under Grand Hotel, then you could say that Dick is like an alternative version of Swordfish. Well not in personality.. but more on.. because other prisoners were afraid of him and he was like one of the respected person there. Something like that.

But the story doesn't only center on the prison.. I don't want to spoil the story but it was really thrilling with lots of action and of course romance on it.

Art: 10/10

Takashina Yuu-sensei really gave justice on the art. SUCH BEAUTIFUL ART! You can already tell just by reading chapter 1 of the manga. Another reason why I also read and listened to the drama cd.

Character: 10/10

I just love all the characters. I dunno if it's just me being biased or not but I love how the characters evolved and interact with each other. Dick and Yuuto are definitely my most faves.

Enjoyment: 10/10

I really enjoyed.. well I super enjoyed the Drama CD (with the English translations) though of course.. chapter 1 of the manga was really nice, too for a starter. You will really want to read more.

Overall: 10/10

This manga is such a revelation. Again.. I dunno if I'm being biased or not.. but I really love this more than UGH. But don't get me wrong.. I loved UGH as well.. since the story was such a masterpiece.. but Deadlock.. everything is so perfect about it! XD The story, characters, art, etc...

Chapter 1 is really worth reading but I suggest to read the novel or if you can't find the novel.. then read and listen to the Drama CD instead. :D

From the chapters released so far you can see they pretty much stick to the novel, so story-wise I don't think there are going to be any surprises. The story is similar to "Under Grand Hotel" in terms of setting and even some events but this trend stops when it comes to it's characters. Deadlock's main couple's chemistry just pales in comparison to what Swordfish and Sen have going on and by no means Dick should be looked upon as the new Swordfish. Still, there is some kind of plot going on and it even managed to get sidetracked one time. The thing that pretty much saves thismanga (and turns my initial rating of 6 into a 7) is it's art. I mean all the guys are just gorgeous: they manage to look hot in prison clothes, they have pretty wavy hear and eyes that shine like gems. Schelger Prison must be a special place reserved for runway male models.

I read the first and the second chapters in English, but there weren't any other chapters avaiable. I bought the manga in German (I'm actually german) because these two chapters impressed me so much (the story and the beautiful art), that I really wanted to go on reading. I must say also, that the 3rd and 4th chapters were as good or maybe better than the 1st and the 2nd. I know that many of you will think that Deadlock is only a copy of „Under grand hotel“, but this really isn't true. Of course, it's the same setting and also a similar ideafor the story, but it really is different. I read the beginning of „Under grang hotel“, but I wasn't truly enthusiastic, so I dropped it. Because of this experience I was susoicious if the manga would really be good, but I was disabused.

The story is great, it's about Yuuto Lenix, a former DEA investigator, who was arrested by a false accusation of killing his own partner. The FBI agents gave him a special deal, to look for a particular criminal hiding in the same prison. In the prison he meets other prisoners (especially his cellmate Dick Burnford) and his relationships with them are as interesting as the main Plot.

The art is fantastic and beautiful, the best I ever saw in a manga. The drawings are realistic and accurate. I think there isn't more to say about it.

I really enjoyed reading the first volume and I hope for more. I would count this to my favourites and give 10/10 points.

It's a real shame that I could only find four translated chapters online, because from what I've read the story is quite amazing (I personally haven't read another like it, though I do know of the 'Under Grand Hotel' which is said to be slightly similar). I swear that each chapter is better than the last, chapters three and four were great! I found it really enjoyable to read and the artwork was appealing. I love the characters. Especially Yuuto, Dick and Nathan... Can't really give a reason as to why I like them but I just do, It also helps that they aren't bad lookingeither~ ;)
