Reviews for Negative-kun to Positive-kun

Why the heck do I give 10s so easily. But this manga deserves it anyway. Story - Negative-kun to Positive-kun is a really lighthearted shounen-ai with cuteness every here and there. The story is very easy to read, very easy to understand, and will give you this weird warm, fuzzy feeling. It basically tells the tale of two boys, a couple, and how they live their (mostly) school life together. Doesn't have much of a real plot nor depth, but very refreshing. When the other BL mangas are just like sex sex sex sex, it's really rare to find a story which doesn't include any sexat all but still unbelievably pleasing.

Art - Hideyoshico's art is pretty much unique, and her art has this weird ~sparkliness~ to it. Not the best in my opinion, but it dazzles. Literally.

Character - The two main characters are total opposites, but that's what makes them connect to each other so well. Negative-kun, the one with brains, is someone really gloomy and constantly complains about little misfortunes in his life. Positive-kun the dumbo is quite hyperactive, shines brightly just like a sun, and always sees life in a positive perspective. They suit each other so well. Even though there are times when Positive-kun feels down. Negative-kun stays and be cheerful and smile in his place. It's just so sweet and I can't help squealing over these dudes.

Enjoyment - I enjoyed this manga so much, too much in fact. My life is plenty depressing already and I need stuffs to make me feel comfortable. This is the one. I friggin love this. I want everybody seeking warm stories with no complicated plots whatsoever to read this and fall in love with this just like I do.

Story (7/10): It's rather straightforward and funny, but somehow touching at parts. Art (7/10): I liked the art. Admittedly, it did feel a bit messy at times, but overall, it adds to the airy feel of this manga. Character (9/10): Although their personalities sound cliched (negative and positive, how many times has that been done?), the main characters were beautifully written. The way their personalities made their relationship work and mutually beneficial was wonderful. (I applaud the author for this. It's no easy feat writing a story of two very different people in a healthy relationship.) The minor characters were fleshed out and alwayshad a purpose too - never there just to be there, but instead to spur on the story, offer insight into Fujiwara and Tachibana's relationship, or elicit a laugh.

Enjoyment (10/10): Very funny, light read. No scenes made me feel uncomfortable and I always understood what was going on. The manga never lost my interest, not even for a chapter.

Overall (8/10): Worth the read. Especially if you're looking for a laugh or for a manga that's not so serious but still contains a good relationship.

Having two characters be polar opposites can seem like a bit of a cliche or an easy way out, but this manga owns it and does it so well! While it plays off of this trope, the characters still have their own personalities outside of just being 'positive' or 'negative', and they have the most adorable chemistry! The thing that stood out for me the most about this manga (compared to other shounen ai) was the fact their relationship was already pre-established, meaning there's no story of how they got together, and that the story really just follows their day to day life as acouple.

It's light, it's cute, and it's so refreshing to see a fluffy, truly wholesome shounen ai in a sea of yaoi garbage. I'll definitely be reading this again and again!

Rating breakdown goes as follows-- Story: 6 Fair / Art: 5 Mediocre / Character: 6 Fair / Enjoyment: 7 Good / Overall: 7 Good This focuses on the relationship between the two. It's short and sweet; it isn't dragged out. The boys are polar opposites (Positive-kun, Shin, is outgoing yet stupid and Negative-kun, Jun, is not outgoing but intelligent) however, they do make it work. The story doesn't go into too much detail but that's what makes it great. Everything in this story is average but if you like a cutesie story with some comical relief then this is it. If you've read Kimi ni Todoke,Shin is like how Sawako describes Kazehaya - he is quite refreshing!

Note that it's an already established relationship.

There are nine chapters and a side/half "9.5" chapter (almost completely unrelated to the story, but note it does contain "yaoi-ideas" (a girl imagining who does what in the relationship)) but in total it is a fluffy light read. It brings a smile to your face and before you know it, the story has finished!
