Reviews for Maiden Railways
Back to MangaI never give reviews so bear with me for this. I will be a bit spoilery for some of the stories, but not the vast majority. I picked this up on a whim as it seemed like a nice short and sweet anthology and it is all of that but I left with a warm feeling. The stories leave some to the imagination, but they ultimately are pretty mature looks at perhaps immature moments in our lifes. My favorite story was the one with the husband and the Model Trains. The romance was established already there, so it was more so a story of trust andacceptance. The wife ultimately gently sends the husband off to the place anyway after he had vowed not to return. She values his happiness more than he does in that moment because he is embarrassed and that is so sweet. The ghost ex story is very subtle as well but shows a very bittersweet story of a man who has to grow to become unattached from this old memory in order to move on with his new future.
So, if you like short romance manga, or maybe even slice of life manga give this a read! It is one vol and pretty quick so even if you walk away disappointed in the read, I think it can impart value interpersonal skills nonetheless. I will land on a 7 as there is discussion of some age gap dynamics maybe in this but it is hard to say, but cute art and cute stories! I wish we could continue some of them, maybe a vol 2 at another point?!
