Reviews for Beast & Feast
Back to MangaAfter having read a few hundred or more yaoi mangas, I have gotten quite tired of stereotypes, which is why I'm so strict with certain elements of the manga. The story starts out really well, a policeman with a normal build and almost too cute face meets old childhood friend who's turned into a beast of a yakuza, but the policeman is still good enough at judo to throw the bigger guy around or put him in a choke hold if he tries anything funny. Unfortunately, this power balance only lasts halfway through the manga, where the policeman turns into a naive little boy rather than aperson who's used to dangerous murder cases, and his now lover becomes the stereotypical hot, strong, and all-knowing (about dangers to his girl) shojo protector. What could have been a good story with interesting characters just totally flopped and fell down to the level of Hwang Mi-Ri manhwas, which are mediocre at best, even though they too usually start out rather promising.
Even so, the art is really good. The only thing I was slightly unhappy about was that the cuteness and tininess of the uke even extends down to his tool which is only one third the size of the beastly seme's. And those things are draw a little too pretty and candy-like. Not that I think this will matter to most female readers.
The enjoyment was good on average. First chapters were great enough that I was really disappointed at the end, but not so much that it ruined the good start for me. Those who like the strong seme x much weaker uke combination will probably get much more enjoyment than I did. And at least the uke didn't act too girly, something which is a delight despite other weaknesses.
This is one of my favorite yaoi mangas, its sweet and caring but also heart racing. If you want a easy read, or a cute love story this is the perfect manga. The characters are beautifully drawn, its really a piece of art. The character's personality is always okay but not all that great. But the story isn't all that long so there isn't any confusion in the characters. The story is easy to follow, its hard to stop reading; the relationship they develop is quite hypnotic and you find yourself talking to the characters. You almost want to be part of the characters, you feelwhat they feel and its great.
What a surprising read! I totally expected something else judging by the title of the manga, but it was pretty good. The manga keeps you interested from the first pages, you get right into the story without much dragging, and that makes things exciting. We know from the very start what we need about the characters and their relationship, and what follows is just a hot mess. Although I do have my complaints regarding what went down and even some aspects of the art, I did enjoy the manga, and I liked both of the characters a lot. Their relationship too. They really made things work despitesome bumps along the way.
And don't know about you guys, but I kind of like it when one of the main characters is a bit hungrier, although in this case they are both quite hungry.
Anyway, I’d give this manga a try. It is quite entertaining, not outstanding, but enough to make you want to read up until the very last page.
english version: i really liked this manga, the drawing line and the continuity of the story. the first chapter is horrible for a start. no need for kazuha to pass out and then fall into bed, it sounds so “i'm desperate to put a sex scene out of context”, and since they already liked each other why do the artist does that? but i'm lying if i say i didn't like the way the story unfolded. it's not something i'd say "wow, what a wonderful story!", she's the type that you can pass the time without having fits of rage or disgust. half term. mafiasare one of my favorite plots but it needs to be sustained, because it was six chapters of the same story instead of one shots of different couples. and finally, i thought it would be a tale more about a detective and a yakusa flirting, however everything revolves around his solid relationship with bouts of jealousy, homesickness, guilt and fear of loss. giving a different tone from this type of history.
