Reviews for Velvet Kiss
Back to MangaVelvet Kiss is arguably Harumi Chihiro's best work. By far, the marriage between plot and ecchi/hentai always is a good one to read and observe. Especially if done well. Between the constant sex scenes and themes rampant throughout this work, there is a tender love growing between the two main characters that can be observed as the chapters fly pass. This love, while not clear at first, begins to slowly reveal itself and is very satisfying to see, if not being one of the main reasons to read this. Harumi Chihiro's art is aesthetically pleasing to the eye in more ways than one, and inVelvet Kiss this is no exception. Although the amount of sex she drew in Velvet Kiss was somewhat excessive, it is understandable at the same time as it is somewhat true to say that the sex drives the plot.
In and of itself, the sex that Kanoko experiences at the beginning of this work reveals how shallowly she lives her life at first, until she meets the male MC, a somewhat lucky salaryman named Nitta. As the work goes on, she begins to have feelings for only one man, Nitta, and only with him can she have pleasure. If one reads between the lines, one can see where the direction of the rest of the book is going.
Needless to say the character development is also pretty exceptional on Kanoko's part. She changes from a girl without a care for life to a girl with conviction and power, and yet still retaining a somewhat tender side for the man she loves. The transition is so well rendered and made and is well worth the read.
On the other hand Nitta doesn't change very much--he remains your atypical male tsundere. Strangely enough he doesn't chase after his feelings aggressively, like some male MC's do, instead he acts through his gained wisdom from work and life in general and the way he applies his wisdom and skill is nothing short of satisfying.
Most people don't care for H manga. Undoubtedly, I'd say once most people read this they will change their mind. Some H manga, such as many of Harumi Chihiro's works, are well written and carry a bold and fulfilling plot while boasting beautiful art to boot.
Again, definitely worth the read, especially in one sitting.
5 out of 5 stars for Harumi Chihiro's Velvet Kiss.
This is my first ever review I don't consider this kind of manga as an H manga, rather I put them on the smut category. Velvet kiss is an H-manga that focuses more on the story ( that's why I consider this as smut), like Virgin na Kankei, though this one is more of the dark theme and kinda gives off a mystery theme too. Story - 9 This story is about your everyday salaryman who got tricked(?) to an enormous debt and got another way to pay it, by befriending with a certain cute, beautiful, pretty, moe (sorry she is just too beautiful) expressionless girl. The story goeson on how Nitta (the main character) is being played around/ordered like a slave on the first volume while giving very little information on what really is happening and leaves a lot more questions for the readers (like why is she so expresionless, what happened between her and her stepmother, what does her stepmother really wants blah blah), especially at volume 3.
Im at the latest translated chapter, which is chapter 17, and I've read the raws (though I can't understand Kanji) of the 3rd volume, and I can quite say that the story really got me, especially the cliffhanger of the 3rd volume (I won't say what it is though)
Art - 10
Its Harumi Chihiro, just that makes this a 10. And I don't care about genitals on this manga because I only consider this as smut, not as H manga
Character - 9
I LOVE KUDERE!
Kanoko is a kudere and quite the sadist (cool - dere, mostly expresionless girls, or those that really don't smile and gives off a "cool" aura), though while the story is progressing, she is showing more expressions, but that 3rd volume, seriously :|
Nitta, well, your normal salary man, he is an upright person and has been doing a good job at his work, until that loan hit him
Yoriko, the stepmother of Kanoko, this milf is behind all of this, or so it seems
There has been only a little information given atm, but character development and interactions are great, especially for Kanoko and the people connected around Nitta
Enjoyment - 8
The plot is great, the art is awesome, the characters are so great (Kanoko
You know, I read this manga after I bust a nut, I finished reading this manga after I bust a nut in like hours before I finished it. My point is, my horniness isn't going to be factor on how I will judge/rate this manga, my horniness wouldn't cloud my judgement and post nut clarity would also help me out on reviewing me this manga. I ain't gonna praise it or rate it high because I'm blinded by my horniness, and because it has many s*x scenes, as a man it is automatically good when you're horny,no. I'm observing and reviewing this without that shit so I'll try to be not biased about it, just because they showed naked girls.
First of all, if you're looking for a good drama series, don't pick this up, it is a bad forced drama. 2nd if you're feeling horny and don't want h*ntai manga shit, go pick this up, almost every chapter has s*x on it, it's like breathing to the characters. The author is horny as fuck when he/she was making this manga. I'd say 40-50 % of the manga shows a girl and boy having s*x, how lazy is that? every chapter the s*x scenes takes up like 4-5 pages minimum and sometimes it goes 6-7 pages, all of that to make the manga longer, without the s*x scenes, I bet It will be around 18-20 chapters long. Most of the times the s*x is just a filler, it doesn't help with the progression of the story, I get it if MC and the other girl (not the FMC) have s*x, that will establish the feelings of MC for the other girl, but most the times the s*x is there just to fill up the manga pages.
The drama is shit, you got a horny tsundere spoiled brat girl and a pushy weak ass beta MC (not as beta as the others, he man-up and smash the girl), you know this is what I don't understand about japanese people, when someone blackmail you, secretly play along with them while you gather evidence, or you could just fuck them off. There's a lot of problems here, blackmailing, pedophilia (middle aged man, teen girl having sex, I don't care if the girl started it, as an adult male, you're the one who's supposed to stop this behavior), technically reverse rape (teen girl "forced" our MC doing it, if it was the other way around it would be called rape, so it's fair to say that this is reverse rape case) and so many others.
The story without the sex isn't really enticing enough, most of the girls are all sl*ts, the only proper girls are the MC's workmates, I was rooting for the glasses girl workmate, but the MC got in loved with another useless girl, then he got NTR'd then calls back the main girl again (which is in teens btw) & uses her as rebound, a safety net, then everything that went wrong with them got solved through s*x, come on how can I take the story seriously now? suddenly all their conflicting personalities got solved through s*x? so that they can force the MC and heroine to reconcile? I also believe that the author got lazy with the other girl "saeki" if I remember correctly, the fastest way for her to get out of the picture was to NTR the MC, looks like the author heard that this series wouldn't be around any longer that's why he/she take the NTR route for fastest way to get saeki out of the picture and gave kanako and MC the reconciliation sex. The drama with her step-mom/aunt, it's all BS for me and that's what I was talking about the forced drama. I believe the author didn't intend to make the step-mother the villain, I think it was Yuki-san (the other rich boy who seems interested in our FMC kanoko) but since the series is nearing its end, the author needed something for FMC and MC to unite, that's why the author make her an enemy, which I think is BS.
Let me start by telling you that this manga obviously is catering to the male demographic, and it'd be very easy to write it off as some h-manga with a story, and if you tend to judge a story off of it's most basic content without looking further, than you probably will, but if you can gather your maturity and analyze the story as more than "OMG SEX!!!!", then you'll actually find this a really great story. I was hesistant to read it at first, I asked myself "is this just another h-manga" as soon as I saw the cover. Then I saw that ithad 32 chapters which was unusual, and that it was on an ipad app for regular non h-manga, so I thought i'd give it a shot and ended up reading the whole thing in 1 go.
The story involves a lot of sex but unlike an h-manga the sex actually added to the plot instead of making you ashamed that they think this is what it takes to get you to read it. Even in regular anime and manga you'll see dumb scenes of girls randomly chasing guys or all going after him and it's just downright embarrasing because the series would've been fine without it but some genius thought it'd make it better, you won't find that here. Yes she has sex with him in the first chapter, but as you find out it's not just for some random reason. Kanoko, a girl our main character is forced to befriend to pay off a debt, is a rich girl that has been through really rough times. She doesn't feel connected to her real family so she hangs out with her rich friends that engulf themselves in a world of lust and soon that's become the only way she knows how to build a relationship. Shin is our main character, he's an average salaryman that must be friends with Kanoko because he's fallen into debt, we later learn this is to give Kanoko a way to feel close to someone since she's so detached from her family. Shin gets Kanoko to slowly adapt to a real relationship even though it starts out as quote "fucked up". That's only half of the story, they face many challenges as Kanoko's old world tries to drag her back in while a scheming aunt goes power hungry.
The characters were great, they had a lot more depth to them than most of the characters in anime/manga with overused personalities that do illogical things for no reason. Shin isn't some pervert that is super happy he gets to hang out with a cute girl. He's very pissed off about it and feels trapped because he has to work off his debt by being a slave to some girl. Then we see he may have his feelings but his decisions are also influenced by his personality, he protects Kanoko when she gets herself into bad situations and isn't afraid to tell her off. Eventually he starts seeing being with Kanoko as something he wants to do instead of something he's forced to do, but it's not some quick decision, he constantly wants to be free of his duty so he can have a life and fights it, but eventually being with her becomes his life. Kanoko as I explained only knows 1 way to have relationships with people, I think in society we judge people way too quickly and would label her off as a spoiled slut after seeing the first chapter, but this manga won't let you do that because it goes into depth about what's happend to her and you can understand why she's turned out that way. She doesn't have a good understanding about the world but slowly comes to love it as they go out. There are other characters like a reporter that'll do anything to get a scoop in hopes of resolving her personal vendeta with the Kikuchiya's and a two faced character that i won't reveal but will inform you influences half of the entire plot.
I really enjoyed this manga, like I said I finished it in 1 go and without a doubt will read it again. It did something that I feel we've written off as something that would never happen, it takes the mature content of an h-manga but instead of giving it a loose plot with sex thrown in, it uses sex as a contributer to the story, it's not just random smut but a mature story. Therefore I wouldn't call this an h-manga but instead a hybrid that takes parts from multiple genres and combines them to make a beautiful story with a proper ending. I'm very happy that I read this and it makes me proud that someone took the time to write a story for guys that actually deals with everything in a mature manner and felt we would enjoy it because we aren't just a mindless group of perverts only looking for boobs with no concern for the story. If you can analyze the whole story and deal with the mature themes than you should definitely read this.
I gave this manga a 10 because I believe it does what most anime and manga should be doing, no not adding sex scenes, but actually thinking of their audience as more than a bunch of mindless people that will love a series because they put 1 thing they stereotype them to like in and making the rest of the story half-assed.
Not your ordinary H manga, I must say. Story - 7 Velvet Kiss starts off with the life of a normal "sarariman" (salaryman, jap term for businessmen) who one day finds himself with a huge debt, he was given an option to repay this by keeping a certain woman named Kanoko company. The whole story starts just like any other H mange, however the plot thickens and deepens the further the story goes, which along with the beautiful H content, will keep you wanting for more. For an H manga, it has an interesting story although keep in mind that this is a Hentai manga, therefore onecould not expect much.
Art - 10
Harumi Chihiro's art has always been awesome, and it even gets better on Velvet Kiss. The character designs are gorgeous and the H scenes have some sort of elegance and simple beauty. The nether parts aren't illustrated though, which may disappoint others, however this does not mean you can't give it a 10.
Character - 8
Kanoko - the main heroine in the story. At first, she is introduced as a rich woman who's just obsessed with sex, as you progress further, you will notice that her strange personality even gets stranger, as tidbits of information about her are dropped here and there.
Shin - your ordinary businessmen who got involved in some deep shit. He's gentle, although he hates being toyed by Kanoko, most of the time he just keeps his mouth shut and vents his anger via... ummm.. making love with Kano.
Enjoyment - 9
It satisfies my desire for H, it has a decent plot, nice character designs and outstanding art. It deserves a 9. However I can't give it a 10, due to some parts being bland and the lack of other woman Shin screws with, IT'S AN H MANGA AFTERALL :D:D:D. As far as I've read, Shin has only done 2 women afaik, the one of the first chapter, and Kano.
Overall - 8
Provides vanilla H content that is more than satisfying, plot that won't bore you, beautiful art. What is not to like?
Work is a pain in the ass, isn't it? Japan is a very workaholic society; I don't think I'd be exaggerating if I said they have one of the worst cases of overworked laborers in the world. Little vacation time, underpaid workers, and long hours, work in Japan literally "takes over ones life", more-so than any other nation in the world. Velvet Kiss shows this realistically. We see the characters juggle their love lives with work, which ultimately, is impossible in such a job-oriented society. I read in awe as Harumi Chihiro effortlessly told a story that flawlessly depicts this--a middle-class, average guy, through luck, encountersa crazy-ass rich beauty. Sex-friends at first, their hearts and emotions slowly grow closer together as the chapters fly by... they slowly become more than friends, and into something more....
Okay~ Honestly, this is the very first H Manga that I totally enjoyed~ I have always thought H manga are only read because of the H scenes. With a little plot and many H scenes and you're good to go~ But I guess Velvet Kiss proved me wrong. Despite the many H scenes, Velvet Kiss still managed to put off a good plot. The H are just there because it's just something a warm-blooded human being does everyday. It's natural (although the orgies are kinda bit fucked up). It has a real substance, the characters are well played, and the art is really good. I even found myselffalling in love with Nitta-san~♥
It has gotten me really hooked the very first time I read it. I thought it was just some lame H manga with good H scenes but then no, I found myself feeling all the emotions the characters felt. I didn't just read every single page~ I felt all of it (now, this is a bit weird since it's an H Manga. lol)
Anyway, I won't write this review too long. BOTTOM LINE: Velvet Kiss is a very good read. two thumbs up for me :)
It's a depressing porno. Myanimelist says I have to make this review longer, but I really cant summarize it any better than that. Each 25 page chapter is about 50% sex scenes between characters I unironically loathe, and the other 50% are characters being developed so that youll hate them and can then watch them have sex. I will admit the art is pretty good, but again, its all basically illustrated porno; even if thats your thing, I think that if its not a pornographic manga, including scenes that are their entirely for titilation is just distracting. And the sad part is, there is actuallythe makings of an alright drama/romance beneath all the smut, but its impossible to maintain any kind of tension in a story that is 50% sex scenes. Theres nothing wrong with sex scenes in a dramatic presentation (anyone whos ever watched HBO will hopefulyl agree) but it should not be the primary focus.
Pros
-Well drawn boobies
Cons
-Characters
-Depressing story
- Sex scenes at the expense of everything
It’s not the first time. Still, I’m somewhat surprised by the fact that borderline H-mangas often have the most interesting love stories. Are these innocent stories? No, not at all, and that’s the beauty of it. This is not a story to escape reality. It will drag you down into the mud. Nevertheless, I believe this one is still digestible for everyone. Who cares about fake, pretentious, empty, self-insert characters in stories that end with hot steaming handholding? Not me, that’s for sure. This is a love story about a flesh-and-blood couple with problematic personalities and real, meaningful struggles. Even though they come from the darkerside of life and have done morally questionable things, they are still relatable despite they are not perfect. Or to be precise, they are relatable exactly because they are imperfect and impure.
A few words about Kanoko. I really liked her character. Her actions were the most interesting to me. It was fascinating to see how her absolutely abysmal childhood led to hypersexuality. To be more precise, her surroundings never taught her how to handle relationships in a healthy way, so she had no experience in managing them. Her only tool was her sexuality, and she tried to connect with people through it. It was also intriguing to see that this shallow approach to sex didn’t work on a guy who had lived a normal life compared to her. Additionally, her character development was perfectly written. It was heartwarming to see how she slowly opened up and became a healthier person in the process.
I know many of you start your academic studies the moment you see a plot, but if that’s your goal, read something else for that purpose, then come back and read this with a clear mind. This one is not that good of a research material. What you’ll find here instead is a really good, though somewhat messed-up, story with amazing characters and excellent character development.
well i dont know how to even explain the Manga, also im very late to this since this Manga came out in 2009 and now its 9/11/2021 (EU) this Manga is very hard to understand and to be honest i still dont understand what this Manga was about haha. Well it has alot of sex and some coloured pages on the start (which some are sex pages mostly) the reason i dont like this Manga is the poor story i dont understand it at all read all the chapters yet all i know is sex and someone needing to pay debt. To be honest theonly reason i fully read this was be cause of the hot scenes. anyways if youre horny read it for fun
Velvet kiss. I hate my friends. I lost a bet and they made me read this as my part of the deal. Then, let's get on with the review. Story- 7 So, the main character gets blackmailed into a massive debt, which he has no chance of ever paying back. So, what happens to him? He's roped into "befriending" a girl. Except, this girl has a few quirks. Art- 8 The art fits the genre of seinen. It's... graphic, but lucky me, the *Ahem* guy parts are censored. And that's all I'm going to say about the art.Characters- 7
Some of the characters are just... odd.
So, as stated above, the MC got a huuuuge debt shoved on him. He's a hardworking man, and he's forced to befriend a rich girl. Compared to other H-Manga, he's at least relevant to the plot.
Kano- this is one of the oddest characters I've ever seen.
She's a sheltered rich man's daughter... or not.
She can be summed up in one sentence.
"Do whatever feels good."
So, what does that mean?
Yep. Sex. Lots of sex.
Enjoyment- 4
I'll be the first to admit that I'm prejudiced against hentai manga.
But, looking at it professionally, it is indeed a good manga.
Overall- 7
As much as I hate to admit it, it's a decent manga.
The incessant amount of sex scenes is actually relevant to the plot, and I will admit that this manga wouldn't have been quite as good without them.
Again, I'm prejudiced against hentai and ecchi, but this wasn't a bad manga by any means.
Velvet sky for readers like me who haven't delved much into this genre hits you on the face with its unabashed use of sex. Too a reader unfamiliar with this genre one can be forgiven for initially thinking it's just another Hentai manga, however this cannot be further from the truth. The Mangaka uses the motif of sex beautifully to display various levels of the human psychy such a Loneliness, the lust for power, control among other things. The sex sure grabs your attention initially but one is hooked to the manga as one reads on because of the way it is written. The artis really good and the story and the character development though not out of this world does compliment the art well and does justice to this manga. I would recommend the readers to try and look beyond the sex and into wat the author does with sex in this manga but if your just looking for a quick thrill with the sex scenes in the manga, you wont be disappointed on that regard too. Over all a very decent read. Hope this review was helpful if so give it a thumbs up. Happy reading to you
Velvet Kiss has undoubtedly kept my attention for the past two days I have read it. To me, I found myself wanting to read more and more as the story progressed, asking myself, "just what will happen to Nitta and Kanoko?". So what what made this such a compelling manga to read from volume to volume? I will care to explain. Story - 10/10 Okay. Yes this is a H-manga, and it's full of sex scenes. But setting that aside, The story has caught my interests because of it's storytelling. As Nitta may have looked like a sex toy for Kano, the reality is both were pawns toa dark cynical plan. History has taught us that there has been countless times power was overthrown by another party by unethical means, and Velvet Kiss demonstrates it through extortion. Harumi, Chihiro threw this situation at her audience, and I tugged in. I kept asking myself questions, puzzled as to why Nitta had to end up in the situation to being with. The story itself was suspenseful and a bit of a thriller, but what made the story so capturing were the characters.
Characters - 10/10
This is the really selling point as to why I started getting involved with Velvet Kiss. I found myself enjoying both Nitta and Kano.
Nitta, a pretty normal yet sincere single man, gets thrown into a nasty situation. What seemed an easy-enough debt repayment plan (with casual sex on the side) turns his whole life in a complete disaster. His daily life is suffered by having to attend Kano's needs.
Kano, a daughter of a wealthy family, seems like your stereotype rich, stuck-up brat with too much time on her hands, but once I learned Kano's background, that was when I started to understand and relate to her. To not spoil the story, I will mention how lonely Kano truly is. I understand her situation because I have experienced her loss as well... it's heartbreaking. Kano may be rich but there is the lingering sense of sadness and anger she has bottled up inside her, and her coping mechanism is sex. I feel so sorry for her because she reminds me of someone I use to know
Velvet Kiss shows the boundaries between the middle-working class and wealthy class with both Nitta and Kano. Numerous times Nitta get feed up with Kano's shit and is baffled by their difference in standards. I always cheered Nitta on because I wanted his situation to get better, and I wished Kano to better herself.
Overall- 9/10
Velvet Kiss really caught my interest. I thoroughly enjoyed myself reading it because of suspense the story left me and characters I could relate to. Listen, sex should not always be about nudity and/or pervertedness, but it could very well be the struggle and coping mechanism for people. It is a real situation in life, and Harumi, Chihiro demonstrates this.
Hands down, this is probably the best and most favorite H-manga I have ever read.
-Xboxhomies
It's a really good H fix if you know what I mean.... Story: It's only been 2 chapters so I can say much about the story. It's about a guy with "bad" luck that gets laid a lot. I don't see that as bad luck but whatever. Art: Strong point because the art is super MOE but doesn't get to revealing by showing genitals and such. It's classy H if there ever was any. Character: Stock characters but realistic in a sense. I don't know about you but a girl that hot is gonna be a horny woman and that makes sense to me.Enjoyment:
I don't know what to say here but I bet some people do...
Overall:
Good read and I'll keep up with it and I hope others do too.
I was intrigued by the ratings that this manga get from the readers, because the synopsis I read didn't really get my attention at all. But when I saw the cover drawing of the manga, I decided to try to read a few chapters and continue if I like story. Obviously I liked the story as I read the first chapter, and finished the whole story for an estimate of 4 to 5 hours. VK is already completed and has only 32 chapters. For the Art style I give it a 8/10 rating. The drawing is awesome especially theeichhi scenes. The characters are also well drawn. Maybe a little more details on the backgrounds and some improvements light and shadow effects.
Story is 8/10. The plot is good, not just because it contains a lot of sexy scenes but I love how the story progresses. This is not an H-manga btw, I found some reviews categorizing it as an 'H' hentai manga but for me it isn't. It has plot, a really good one, and the genitals are not drawn. It's an eichhi manga with a good story that has a little angst, love and drama. But since I’m a fan of action and sci-fi genre I get bored reading it continuously that’s why I have to switch tabs and do some other stuff that’s why it took me 5 hours to finished it. And, the story is predicatable. Anyway, the intimate scenes are amazing (and maybe arousing? JK).
For the Characters, is 9/10. I love all the characters in this manga they have different personalities and views that I would like to rate it a perfect 10/10 but the author failed to show the minor characters involvement. I really want to know about Kano’s friends more (Especially Yuki! so hot, that horny brat) and the girlfriend of Shin.
Enjoyment is 8/10. Gawd. I really love it when Shin and Kano are in bed. Haha. But I’m annoyed when Shin’s doing it with others (well an eichhi is an eicchi *sigh*)
Overall 8/10. This manga belongs to my re-read list. If I’m bored and got nothing else to do I might read it again just for the sake of killing time. If you want an eicchi with a decent plot with a complete story, read this.
the story was just awesome....i'll give 9/10... just superb, A very good manga i read after a long time.....high quality drawings too.... but in the end, i was expecting them to get married, and as Nitta was a working man, i was expecting that he would take over the company, even not so, that was OK too, but when the manga said after 3 years? that was unnecessary, and Nitta should hav gone with her... DAMN...i was expecting too high...but still, this Manga is very good and very heartwarming & touching...!
Velvet Kiss with only 4 volumes and 32 chapters is a story of your average office working with luck always by his side. Winning a contract of famous firms, winning in the lottery, but what if you suddenly found out that you had an 80-million yen debt within 1 day? What will you do? Story : 9/10 The story was introduced nicely, introducing the protagonist, stating his background and suddenly revealing the main problem. The story was not so unique and it was quite predictable. And even thought it has only 32 chapters, everything fits perfectly. However, while reading this, you could feel that some of itwas rushed, suddenly jumping onto a scene which made me wonder how did that suddenly happen? About the genre, romance and ecchi / fanservice, it was really amazing, it's like I'm watching it. I was hooked onto it whenever they had its fanservice. And about the ending, it was outstanding, the problems were solved and both of them living their life, even though it skipped for 3 1/2 years it's still a good ending. It closely made me cry as the protagonist's feelings grew for the girl.
Art : 9/10
When it comes to art, all I want for it is to be a little more realistic. And it did meet my expectations for it, I don't have any complains about the style they used drawing this. Also, the character designs fitted perfectly, the main protagonist to be an office worker, and the main heroines character design also, as a rich brat who got everything except for family and love. And even the heroines so called "friends", with their looks, they really got onto my nerves.
Character : 9/10
The characters were, nicely done. The main protagonist to be a smart one, and the heroine to be a rich kid without real friends and love of family. The supporting characters did their job well. Love grew from being a "friend" to a lover for the protagonist and heroine. The antagonists really really got on to my nerves, I felt really bad for the protagonists to be in the hands of the villain, so it's nicely done. The main protagonist and heroine will be unforgettable for what the story made them do, and also the antagonist / villain. I think the villain in this story will be on my most hated villain of all times.
Enjoyment : 10/10
Enjoyment? Of course I did enjoy this, a lot. My feelings were like riding in a roller coaster, at first you're excited, seeing the protagonist having its good times, then suddenly a bit of a pain in the chest as you see the main problems in this story. With its fanservice, it really fitted in well, it really made me excited while reading it. It really is like watching anime, but you get to use some of your imagination for it to work excellently. Re-reading it again? Of course yes, with only this short, you could finish it within one day. But the fact that I knew what happened to the story, it will be too stale to read because there'll be no mystery to unlock. This will be one of my most unforgettable manga of my life, having those kind of villain, it gives me the creeps. This manga is so enjoyable and exciting so I hope for you to read it.
- I've only read to the latest chapter so... yeah - I stumbled onto this manga... well accidentally because I am a suckah for romance/comdey mangas. So right of the bat there was a H sceme and I was like "Dude your 15, almost 16, this ain't nothing".... So I continued to read. The story itself was well written, there are parts which are hard to understand and plotholes, well there aren't 'many'. But the story is really well written. There isn't too much of a twist and the story can be seen as 'made as you go'. But it fitted well. There are a lot ofH scenes and talking, but the character developments and relationships make you want to scream your opinions out when reading it.
Sorry if it was a bad review, but I did put myself out there!
I never expected to actually find myself reading this but.. oh well :) Story - 8 It starts off innocently enough with a story about a normal salaryman who gets himself into a pinch with a huge debt on him and the only way he's going to get through this is to be "friends" with the daughter of the company that he owes a debt to. And so the story continues as the setting gets darker and the plot thickens, per say. xD Art - 10 Harumi Chihiro's works have always been well made. Unsurprisingly, it is the same for this manga.Character - 9
I like how the characters have a sense of belongingness and how they have their own backgrounds and that these backgrounds come together to create a surprisingly well made story.
Enjoyment - 9
Personally, I never expected myself to read this but after reading a few chapters, I got hooked until the end. The story makes you want to continue because of how the plot twists into something that makes the reader go "What happens next?" and "What will they do next?". Then again, that is why I enjoyed reading this manga.
Overall - 8
I have nothing more to say :)
Just writting this as I hope the author may see this? Please, do a continuation? Velvet Kiss is perfect as is, BUT, it leaves us wanting to see a
"true happy ending"
. Its tragic and sad as it terminated. I liked the series because of it sweetness, but it is also bittersweet, and realistic. The thing I didn't like about this series is that it is too brief (short). I read it all in less than 2 hours, it has lot of plot twists for a series this short, so it made me feel like in a roller coaster of emotions. I think therewas sufficient story to fill more chapters (and also give a most filling ending).
I think this series deserves at least a chapter 33, filling it to the end.
So, all in all, even the things I didn't like turned to be good things that turned this series to be a masterpiece, or almost it (where's chapter 33? ;-;). But my rating of it is 10 to show how much I loved reading this series, after all it is what matters.
Even if it didn't show a chapter 33, it leaved it blank, so everyone can imagine it how it could be, good or bad, tragic maybe.
Personally, here in my heart,
I imagined them with a happy ending, together, constructing a family, and being successful
.
