Reviews for Namida Usagi: Seifuku no Kataomoi
Back to MangaNAMIDA USAGI - SEIFUKU NO KATAOMOI was amazing! i loved it! the love was so pure and cute! it wasnt like others where the guy harasses her or assaults her. also they were so cute together! there wasnt any love rivals which i was thankful for because every love manga usually has them and it gets tiring and old after a while. i really cried while reading this. it was so sad towards the end. i really hope this manga isnt finished because i want to know what happens!!!
Story: 10 Momoka, is forced to change her seats in class and finds herself sitting next to a strange guy, Narumi who she has never spoken to before. The school rumor is that he is cursed, and that any girl who sits near him will never find love, Momoka belives this and is scared of him but soon finds out the true Narumi eventually new feelings are taking a hold on her. Is it friendship or... love? Enjoyment: 10 There was never a dull chapter in this manga, each page would keep you laughing or feeling some sort of emotion. Characters: 10 I loved the characters! Thecharacters would developed quickly and you'd get to know about them more as the manga goes on.
Art: 9 The artwork was drawn really detailed. I loved how the facial exspressions of the characters were drawn, they were hilarious!
Overall: 10 Namida Usagi - Seifuku no Kataomoiamida Usagi - Seifuku no Kataomoi Kataomoi is such a great manga and is definitly a must read! I love everything about it!
Namida Usagi in short you could say is a kind of bad copy of Ao Haru Ride. SIMILARITIES WITH SPOILERS In both stories the main characters meet and fall in love in middle school, but their romance doesn't begin because the male protagonist suddenly moves away. The two protagonists meet again in the same high school but something is changed in the male protagonist and for this reason they are unable to start their relationship. Despite it's clear that they both are still in love, they will have to overcome numerous obstacles before getting together. One of the obstacles they have in common is that the male protagonistat first rejects the female protagonist's confession because, even if he loves her, at that moment of her confession he is chained in a toxic relationship with a childhood friend of his.
Ao Haru Ride is better written (both the story and the characters) than Namida Usagi.
In a certain sense Ao Haru Ride is what the reader would have expected to read in Namida Usagi.
ART
The drawings of this manga seem like a bad imitation of Arina Tanemura's drawings (this was to be expected because the author of this manga was an assistant of Arina Tanemura in the past)
5/10
CHARACTERS
The characters are flat and stereotyped. They often say or do ridiculous things.
I expect something like this if I read a manga like Sensei Kushu which tries to make a deliberate comedy out of these facts or dialogues, but in this manga they take themselves seriously and this makes them quite cringe.
In fact, reading this manga is often embrassing.
An honorable mention goes to the protagonist's best friend and her boyfriend, who are the stupidest and most insufferable supporting characters I've ever found in a shoujo manga.
5/10
STORY
The first volumes (especially the first) are nice, but the further the story goes the more boring and embarrassing it becomes.
I recommend you read the first volumes and then stop reading when the two main protagonists get together.
The subsequent volumes lengthen the plot without having substance.

CONCLUSION
In conclusion, I recommend this manga ONLY to those who are VERY YOUNG (this fact mostly due to the immaturity of the dialogues and actions of the main and non-main characters) and who have LITTLE EXPERIENCE reading shoujo manga.
It's not the best shoujo manga you'll find around, but if you're new to it and if you are looking for a nice romantic light read, this shoujo manga will probably be right for you.
However, if I can be honest, I recommend you read Ao Haru Ride instead of Namida Usagi (or read both) since Ao Haru Ride, if it were focused on photography, would objectively be the improved version of this shoujo manga.
*Review might contain spoilers* Story 6/10 To be honest, when I started this manga I thought I was going to rate it lower, then at some point higher, but then it is a 6 for me. It is a nice slice of life, wholesome manga, that manages to keep you engaged despite some cliché and make-you-roll-your-eyes-moments. However, there are some things that seem to happen just to stretch the manga and at that point dont even add any value to the story at all. For example: Satsuki had NO bussiness encouraging Amano once again to confess to Momoka when Satsuki is 1.supposed to be Momoka’s friend (meaning, supposed to not want to create problems for Momoka) and 2.Momoka was in a happy, healthy and stable relationship. Granted, Satsuki probably didnt know Amano had confessed a long time ago, but still, this plot was so unnecessary for the reader. Same goes for Amano still having feelings for his “best friend’s” girl and confessing to her again in the grandiose gesture while fully aware of my point 2 above. I also felt like things were thrown in there and not given proper closure, for example, did Narumi ever learn Hikori was in love with him?? She also seemed to have gotten zero consequences for allowing the rumor of Narumi being her boyfriend to spread.
Other than those two major flaws, Namida Usagi is a nice read and has a very nice pace and flow. I liked how close the group of friends was and how easily conflicts were resolved, instead of being dragged on. I have to praise Narumi and Momoka for being able to have such a steady relatinship from such a young age, with their family member engaging and being present and encouraging for them. Not always you see such healthy and honest relationships develop.
PS- did you notice all guys in the manga were in love with Momoka at some point?
Art 7/10
I enjoyed the pastel color pannels used in this manga. It is only me or Momoka reminds you of Sakura card captor too??
Characters 7/10
My top 3 favorite are Kairi, Akutsu and Yunagi (of course!). Why? Kairi was the embodiment of what a bestfriend should be: empathetic, loyal, always supportive while also respectfully pushing you out of your comfort zone. Akutsu to me was the boldest, funniest and silliest of all, but deep down you could tell he is a kind hearted person. Yunagi? She was just too cute and smart and fresh for her age.
Now, things worthy of mention from other characters:
-Momoka: she is just too kind and good natured to be real. I disliked how often she cried but most of all, how easily she felt insecure and distrusted Narumi when the guy time and time again found her in the most suspicious of situations and not once did he not trust or defend her and asked her version of the story.
-Narumi: he is literary THE boyfriend all girls, especially unexperienced girls, should have: mature, thoughtful, passionate, kind and definitely has a lot of patience because at times I felt like kicking Amano’s or even Momoka’s butt for how they treated him.
-Amano: I felt he was there just for a plot, never really added much than supporting Momoka with Narumi while deep down wanting her for himself or being Narumi’s “rival”. But as far as rivals go, I liked Kuon 10 times better than Amano.
-Satsuki: I liked she was used to represent a group of people, those who at times feel left out in a group or with other interests, however, she lost so many points with me after encouraging Amano to confess to Momoka, who did she think she was helping?
Enjoyment 6/10
I feel bad because I did enjoy reading this manga a lot more than what this grading might lead you to believe. However, grading it any higher doesnt feel right because the story isnt that good or life changing or even original.
