Reviews for Mahou no Iroha!
Back to MangaTypically when I read the summary for a manga and it involves time traveling I ROLL MY EYES and skip it, but having some free time, I give -Mahou no Iroha- a shot and I gave it a 10 overall Enjoyment-10 It is a spectacularly enjoyable funny read. Story-8 It's a 100% complete break from any cookie cutter plot that you can imagine, and I know this is going to be one of those mangas for me that I will hope never ends.Characters 7
The characters look standard but they're not, they realize things, sometimes slowly and other times quickly and you can feel them growing.
Art-7
I'm not a particularly wonderful judge of art but the characters are strongly personified, and the art works well to add to the humor.
I strongly recommend this,
From the same guy that did Ai Kora.
STORY: 7.75/10 I found the story pretty darn satisfying. Make no mistake, it's clearly geared towards the comedy side of things but it's supported by a rather appreciable plot line. I can be a bit bias in regard to works that incorporate time-travel, future/past/present type of things and the addition of "sudden daughter appearance(s)" just seals the deal. The fantasy/magical elements were done well and the comedy, though a bit silly at times, did its job. The ending like most manga, was decent. I don't recall any plot holes or anything but you can feel the sense of urgency or rush towards the end. ART: 6.5/10 Theart isn't outstanding; I think that's pretty evident. The mangaka Kazurou Inoue's designs here are pretty much similar to his other works such as [Ai Kora] and [Midori no Hibi], to name a few. While it isn't to my liking for drawers to use repeat designs- especially ones that are simple by nature, in the end it wasn't a big deal as the overall story made up for it. The character's personalities and expressions inked through the drawings were done well and the same could be said for the background and art movement fluidity.
CHARACTERS: 7/10
I couldn't help but make the comparison of our male lead to the one in [Ai Kora]. Both guys are usually very nonchalant, a bit pathetic, stick to themselves but when push comes to shove their sense of justice is unmatched. They fight for what they believe in and determined to protect their loved ones. Though this isn't all praise, as mentioned about repetition concerning the art. The rest of the supporting cast, despite getting pretty much equal screen time don't really develop all that much. I didn't particularly hate any characters, but none of them were that memorable.
ENJOYMENT/OVERALL: 7.5/10
One of the few times where I come in, glance at the genre tags and expect the norm but end up finish reading with a satisfied grin on my face. In the end, I found myself enjoying each and every chapter despite a somewhat wonky final chapter. As with all short manga works, one shouldn't come in expecting the world and if you allow yourself to simply enjoy the work that was made and presented-- you'll appreciate it too. I could see this manga being serialized longer but could become stale unless the mangaka puts some refinement into it.
This was a pleasant surprise. I thought that most the story was good. I wasn't that big on the end though. But all through out i was enjoying this. It is a very nonsensical story that gives me a good laugh. Gonna be talking about the girls in this ahead ~~Spoilers~~ Iroha : Main poster child of the manga. She's also the Main female character that is overall a fun character when on screen. Reika: Kind of a witch like character. She doesn't have much screen time so we don't get much to go off of her. Nanako: She is the female love interest. Not much happensand we don't get to see much of her actual personality. She is a nice character all in all though.
Emily: We are introduced to her very late. So not much with her happens. She also has little to no personality. But it makes sense as to why.
Saki : Is by far my favorite. She was originally a boy tell the age of 6 when her father turned her into a girl. She has from then on grown up as a chick. I really kind of wish we got to see more of her. It is really funny with her being chased by a ton of guys. Her personality and character designs are really nice too. I kind of wished we got a story on her or something. Cause i do really like her as a character. I may have liked it if the story focused more on her.
The End now is the only part i don't like. All the girls go back into the future and what not. I don't really like this. I like the idea of them staying with the MC more. Also doesn't make sense cause in doing so they can cease to ever exist. Then later we are brought 5 years into the future and the MC's life is kind of shit. Other stuff happens and the girls are back and what not.
The ending was the only sour part. But i do very much like this. I was also expecting this to have already gotten a Anime adaptation. It really seemed like it would've. Also i still think a story on Saki would be fun.
