Reviews for The Crimson Lady
Back to MangaThis psychological manhwa follows a woman stuck in a novel who turns to murder after repeatedly dying tragically. Story: 8/10 The unique serial killer concept gives a dark twist on reincarnation plots. The looping timeline and motives create an intriguing mystery. Pacing and reveals are excellent so far. Art: 9/10 Visuals are highly polished and atmospheric. The gothic style suits the eerie tone. Character expressions capture the disturbing mood perfectly. Characters: 8/10 The unhinged yet calculating MC makes for a fresh lead. The stoic male lead contrasts interestingly with her madness. Even side characters have hidden depths.Enjoyment: 9/10
This totally engrossed me with its macabre tone and unpredictable twists. Eager to see the MC unravel more secrets and schemes.
Fans of unconventional heroines and dark, psychological plots will find this a gripping read. A thriller that breathes life into the reincarnation genre.
This is one of the most disturbing and well written psychological horror-ish story I've ever read. Resetting Lady name is very fitting because she goes back time every time she dies and she dies in one year always. This is a family curse that is transferred from mother to daughter so only way to break it is having a child which is impossible for the main character because she is infertile. While she's in her 117th life she truly loses all sanity and starts murdering people. However the bodies are cleaned up and evidence disappears. This is how we find out the father was aware of thecurse and was cleaning up the evidence from the start.
Unlike many characters that turn back time sane this fml truly loses her mind and even reason with each death. She doesn't think death is the end so she actually enjoys murdering people. She is what you can call "unhinged" in many ways and one of the most well written character I've read so far.
Even though you read spoilers you still won't be able to guess how the story unfolds because it is never what you would expect and always keeps you on the edge of your seat while holding your breath. Truly an amazing read and deserves more recognition.
I opened it as a joke, because I like priests. And it was a VERY bad idea. Let me clarify that I haven't read the entire novel and just skimmed through it to get the general picture, which is missing from the manhwa (for example, explanations about inheritance) Let's start with the fact that the drawing is beautiful, but the character designs don't always suit the characters. For example, Isella looks pretty cute, and the incestuous freak Dyulan is literally the same as the handsome Raymond. But that's not the worst thing. Caron. The character is disgusting. She is toned down in the manhwa compared to the novel(the whole plot of her abuse of a child was removed), but her vile character is still there. For some reason, people are sure that Caron became like this after the restarts, but no, she was like this since childhood. Oh, I forgot, she's a Killer. Not really, lol. She kills 2.5 people in the manhwa and 3.5 in the novel, and these people are 2 women (one of whom she sees for the first time) and a child. Yes, she's truly an interesting character!
Same thing with the dogs. She didn't hate Dullan, she did it just for fun. And yes, Dullan was her nanny (it's not noticeable in the manhwa, but there's an 8-year age difference between them), fulfilling all her whims as a child, so she just acted like a scumbag, lol. Later, she also developed solipsism, which is also downplayed in the manhwa, but still noticeable. And even the information that the people around her are alive (and she believes in this info) doesn't change Caron, lol.
South Koreans are looky people, but this manhwa (like Secret Alliance) is on some level of insanity at it. Caron and Raymond will be like crazy lovers, but in fact, for a season and a half, they constantly talk only about each other's appearance, fluffing their tails no less than peacocks. There's a spoiler here, but Raymond also gets married in the worlds in which Caron dies. Yeah, crazy love, lol. This manhwa also has problems with the depiction of sex scenes, so I don't know what will happen next, but according to the novel, the beginning of season 3 will be a solid March for these two cats. It was disgusting to watch.
Dulan is my reason not to give it 1, but he is also the main pain. Perhaps the author of the manhwa really loves him madly and is jealous of his happiness, but this is still TOO MUCH. Dulan's backstory literally made me hysterical. Partial spoilers follow, so that you have the full picture. You can skip to the next paragraph if necessary. Dulan took care of Caron since her childhood and initially did not feel any attraction to her and was no less amazed by the engagement. Then he was gnawed by dogs, during which his parents simply gave up on him. In this darkness, Katerina suddenly turned to him, for whom Dulan was the first to listen and understand her. Dullan decides to fulfill her request and help Caron find love (the plan to find love is generally brilliant, because the women in Caron's family have disgusting taste, and Raymond became at least some semblance of love standards only because Dullan did everything to bring them together). But Katerina dies, which means that the last person who was kind to Dulan leaves. And yes, he is going crazy. Dullan is not a yandere, he is worse. He is just a lonely person who agrees to ANY society. He enjoys it more when Caron insults him and pulls his hair than when people simply avoid him. After each death of Caron, Dullan simply ended his life. He was burdened with guilt, but at least in the idea that Caron would go to the past, where he would wait for her, Dulan could be saved from loneliness. At the same time, he does not prevent Caron and Raymond from finding that very happiness. On the contrary, he helps them when he sees that they finally began to treat each other not like rubber dolls. But Caron will hate Dullan until the very end, even when she understands that he was simply fulfilling the request of HER mother. And yes, Dullan is ultimately the main villain and is PUNISHED, TWICE. Firstly, Raymond tortured him to death (and not in one day), secondly, together with Caron, they forced Dulan to remember the past.
The story is rotten in a bad way. I feel like both readers and authors are simply gaslighting me by swapping black and white. No, there is no gray here, it's just gaslighting. If you want to read something about interesting abuse between two handsome (and even with bullying a curly brunette), I recommend Lady Devil
