Reviews for Trapped
Back to MangaI was surprised to see no reviews of this on here! I am a big fan of the vamp romance genre and was so excited to find another title to try. At first, I was a little put off by the art style to be completely honest...but it grows on you and improves leaps and bounds as the story goes on. Looking back, I wouldn't even consider the style to be bad by any means, just different! & I ended up really really loving the uniqueness of it, and the creator's ability to portray emotions in the characters. This is obviously just a prelim review, it'snot finished yet but here are my thoughts thus far~
**Note: The actual romance takes awhile to occur. I heard of many people dropping the series because they were impatient, but I really suggest sticking it through! Give it time!
The story does have complexity and depth, making it more than just a romance. I was genuinely intrigued while reading through it and I look forward to new updates.
CHARACTERS
I want to jump right to the characters because they really stand out for me. Firstly, our female lead is strong, capable, and very independent. She's not one to fall to her knees and let the ML (or anyone) walk all over her. She's a fighter, and sticks to her guns always. I'd consider her pretty closed off to the world and introverted. She has some "tsundere" tendencies which I don't typically like, but it fits her character and the story well.
Yoonsoo (male lead) really impressed me. I love when there's a character so easy to despise at first (I really thought he was unable to redeem himself) and they're written so well that throughout the story you find yourself opening up to them and appreciating their growth and why they do the things that they do. AND throwing in little twists here and there that make you question whether or not you should even like them at all. It keeps things interesting! He's a complex character, and isn't a perfect lead in any way. It's refreshing having this sort of "in between" lead versus other stories where it seems characters are written as hero or villains. The same can be said about the female lead. She's an ex-convict and has her own fair share of iffy moments, which I appreciate.
I do like the supporting characters as well and find them interesting.
ART
I won't repeat what I said before but I really did end up loving the art style. There were so many swoon worthy panels I felt spoiled while reading it.
I would definitely recommend this story for those who love vamp romance. It's a slow burn but worth the wait & the in between is very enjoyable. I never felt like I was skipping things to get to the main bits. Unless major things change or the ending is crap I don't expect my feelings to change. It would be cool to see this story animated!
i was heavily invested in the story up until... chapter 100 i think? whenever chae-a han's memories were erased. the plot got messy after that. i completely understand the author's intention w this story, but its not executed well. there are far too many backstories given even up until the recent chapters and it just... ruins the flow of the read. i really love chae-a han's character. i adore her. she's strong, independent, and has been through far too much. her character is also pretty strong imo. shes very well written. i also find the vampire experimentation to be very interesting. its a good addition tothe story. i think the scientific aspect of the story deserves to be more thorough; its obviously not the focus of the story, but if you're adding in experimentation of any kind it needs to have a stronger background to it.
overall- i wouldnt recommend this story to anyone unless they are a vampire enthusiast, even then i wouldnt be too sure.
This is quite different from most vampire romance plots out there. It is much less predictable than you might expect and really well build throughout. The writer did an amazing job at building the story and presenting it, considering the chain of events, with little to no gaps in the logic. It's got a bit of a mystery-thriller-psychological feel to it, which makes the story very dark and heavy at times. Absolutely loved how realistic the character's emotions and personalities were. It was shown through their dialogues, actions, and body language, their limits emphasized and very well built backstories that were carefully thought out. The art stylewas really matching and supporting that heavy feel this webtoon carries.
If you appreciate a good consistent plot with focus on character development, as well as a bit of romance, this is definitely a webtoon you'll get hooked on.
This webtoon is hands down the most addictive and captivating one I've ever read. TOTALLY RECOMMEND IT, PLEASE DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS MASTERPIECE. Honestly, if you love romance, psychological drama, and thrillers, please read this. 🙏🏼 I usually don’t write reviews, but this one? I had to. this story made me feel things I haven’t experienced from any other series After binge-reading it, I honestly felt like my life had changed 🫠. Yunsu and Chae-a? I’m obsessed. the tension and chemistry between them is on another level—💯💯💯 every single time. I literally sacrificed sleep just to find out what happened next, and it was worth everyminute
What stands out the most is how it was made & written. everything from the plot to the characters feels intentional, and the way the title ties into it all is so good. It's not your typical fluffy romance—this one stays with you.
I WILL NEVER FORGET THIS. Thank you, Haemuri, for this masterpiece 😭 will definitely read this again and again.
If you like vampire obsessive ML then you might like this one, The female lead is actually a strong character and isn't an annoying person that only relies on the male lead. The story itself is not the best but not the worst sometimes it very interesting and other times it boring, this is an enemy's to lovers story. I deeply recommend reading it. The male lead falls first and is obsessed with her. they have a love-hate relationship which is more complex than others, the story is a bit slow paced but thats what makes it better. It builds up the tension between theML and FL so well. one of the best thriller manhwas out there
overall
plot 9/10
characters 10/10, very well written
art 8/10 it gets better as the story goes on
romance 9/10
Ahh where should I start, Trapped is truly one of a kind, one of the best enemies to lovers trope execution ever. Not to mention, the art is amazing as well!! That being said, the dynamic shifts a bit around chapter 100-110 where multiple other aspects at play are involved more in the storyline and portrayed. The main leads are very well written and Yunsu was perfectly suited for the yandere role. While many might consider "Father" to be the more evil character, personally I feel Chae-ah's family are more evil as there is atleast a justification for the actions of "Father" which while do notmake what he did any less evil atleast provide us insight into why he did what he was doing.
The supporting cast was also stellar. The tension between all the characters throughout was pretty intense and kept me wanting for more. If anyone is into romance, with a little bit of thriller/dark aspect, this is a must read!!!
