Reviews for Dreaming Freedom
Back to MangaDreaming freedom or Free in Dreams is a very nice manhwa that is really unbearable in the first chapters. Warning! It contains bullying and it's being shown constantly in the beginning of the story. It made me want to drop, but trust me it is very nice actually! The story is about Jeongmin, a highschool girl that is being abused by her ex-bestfriend from middle school. This ex bestfriend turns the whole class against the MC and wants to see her suffer. Because of the suffering and hate she gets from school, she starts the lucid dreams, where she meets Siyun! From this point on, Siyun is avery mysterious character that wants to help the MC and starts to like her. But why is Siyun always in pajamas and refuses to talk about himself? why was he attracted by her in the first place? They have a lot in common and the story is getting really interesting after their meeting.
The art is getting better and better as well, you will be able to notice how big is the difference from the art of chapter 1 to the art of chapter 30+.
Overall, i recommend this psychological manhwa to the people that like this genre and want to see a beautiful story well drawn and written.
On MAL it does not have the "romance" genre, but i want to mention that it really is a romance manhwa.
The story itself is intriguing like you really wanna know what will happen next and you really can't skip an episode The art style is JUST SOOOO GOOOODDDDDD the shadings are just too good. antagonists and protagonists were just too predictable it was too obvious that when they do something so the side characters were a little boring but that's alright since the story flows around the main characters mostly !!!!!!!!!! (little spoiler) !!!!!!!!!! it was pretty good till the last chapters I fear Siyun now. like he was chill at first but now all I think is he is trying to manipulateJeongmin. I really like to see drama if you like drama/toxic relationships/revenge stuff I really recommend this but if you can't bear these kinds of things you'll probably rage too much!
(siyun is the biggest red flag)
Art style: 7/10 Honestly the art isn't for me, The ears are kinda too big and the body seems stiff. But the visuals are lovely, specially the eyes, the details in their eyes are so pretty and seductive lol. The art style was also the reason I got interested in it, (in a TikTok edit) Characters: 5/10 Jeongmin Choi, the lead and the MC of this manhwa that I used to love. She's honestly alright tho I don't really have any complains to her, is she interesting for me? No. But I'm glad she got her revenge I guess, I'm happy for her getting the life she wanted. Jeongmin's Father:did I miss a chapter?? It seems like this guy is already dead.
Juhyeon Ha, She's annoying at first but oddly enough I could empathize with her more than Jeongmin, She was misunderstood and was raised carelessly. Her actions were bad yes, but no one was there for her. I really hope Jeongmin and Juhyeon become friends again, but Jeongmin seems to be very occupied with her love life.
Siyon Baek, Guess he is kinda the standard? Well he is attractive gotta say, he tries his best not to get too possessive. But I don't know he's kind of a creep? He's uncomfortable sometimes. And boy do I wonder where did his instinct of killing someone came from, where his possessive personality originated. He is honestly the coolest one because he has power but sadly it's being forgotten.
Jaehyuk Jo, please get this guy out of the story, I AM BEGGING PLEASE. He is so frustrating, probably the worst character I've ever read, and if he was made for that well, they did a great job. My patience is being challenged every time this jerk spouts a single word in his word. I dropped this series mostly because of this guy, congratulations to him.
The other characters are just narcissists and hypocrites that is boring to talk about. Their names are forgettable too.
Plot : 4/10
I'm sorry but I'll be honest here, the more the story progress the more the title doesn't connect with the story at all. The lucid dreaming is barely seen now after Jeongmin got her revenge and Baek came out of the hospital.
It's only revolving on the romance between Jeongmin and Siyun Baek, it's getting boring and annoying to the fact I couldn't even careless anymore. It became sexual when they're just in highschool too. It's uncomfortable. It's cringe. It's not about DREAMING anymore. That was the whole point tho right? It's supposed to be about lucid dreaming. Also WHERE IS JUHYEON??
I will be rooting for Jeongmin and Juhyeon even I dropped it now because they disserve to be understood man. But here we are in Siyun's apartment.
But don't get my review into you tho, we are different at the end, if you like yanderes, and annoying trashes everywhere that'll eventually will get what they disserve (?) Then this will be fun to read. Since the first chapters was very interesting and addicting too, it's fun for me until then.
The definition of "matching each other's freak" If you're not into 2 red flags loving each other to the point of obsession this is not for you. Their love is definitely not sweet or sane for the most part of the story and there is a lot of themes like bullying (not between the ml and fl) self-harm and other heavy themes. The story is spaced out well enough that you won't think anything is happening so fast but it is not such a slow burn that you will get bored either. Truly a must read if you're looking for something crazy(literally)
i like this manhwa because of the storyline and especially the starting plot, but i felt like by the end it got extremely dragged. i think that there were many non-important aspects that were added that ruins the story. An amazing story is not defined by the lenght of it. if you like the toxic type of relationship dynamic, this story will definetly suit your taste. It explores the flawed minds and personalities of the main couple. This shows how hard is to keep a relationship alive when you're too attached to one another. I love the art style. It is the main reason why istarted reading this manhwa and i see it as perfect and definetly fitting for the story.
Hi! I'm new to writing reviews, so bear with me as you read this. I want to have a bigger presence on this site, so I figured writing reviews about stuff I'm reading would be the best way to be seen. Dreaming Freedom is quite an interesting webtoon that I found myself hooked to, surprisingly. Themes of bullying, obsession, regret all play a huge role in the life of our FL, Jeongmin. Her life is constantly in stress, with the existence of her abusive father, childhood bully, and overall shitty situations that she finds herself in. Lucid dreams are her escape, in which the main storystems off of. She enacts her revenge through means of another lucid dreamer, our ML, Siyun. Through their meetings in their dreams, and saving each other through lucid dreaming and eventually meeting each other, it creates a strong bond between the two, creating a strong psychological obsession for each other. The story fully dramatizes obsession, on both characters, and the effects of bullying.
The art has improved a whole lot since the first couple of chapters, Jeongmin and Siyun are truly stunning in their character design. Nothing new, but it's enjoyable.
I'd totally read this if you want a story where you see broken people heal. Where I am right now, they haven't fully gotten to that stage, but it's a story where you want the characters to change for the better. It's a interesting romance for sure.
7/10 because it's good, but it's not a masterpiece of a webtoon. It's a fun read, rather. I would highly consider reading.
I have never read such an anxiety inducing plot, yet I loved it so much! I definitely wouldn't recommend it to everyone, but if you have read work like "Trapped" and enjoyed it, this should definitely be your next read. However, there are quite a few sensitive themes for those who don't read much psychological genre. Story: 9 It does take a few chapters to really get into it as it does contain a lot of bullying and starts quite slow. However, this dragged out opening also helps us empathise with the FL later on, making the latter portion and her motivation so much more effective. I dothink the story drags a little bit in the later chapters as their never seems to be an end to certain plot threads, but when the plot threads do close, they so in such a satisfying way.

There are a lot of red flag men in manhwa such as this, but that's okay because we like the colour red...
This is the first time I have truly feared for a FL and have actually been scared of the ML. I respect this as too often authors gloss over this trope as 'misunderstood so we can forgive him so easily for everything', or something along those lines. This story doesn't shy away from it's characters. This manhwa really goes deep with the toxic relationship themes, exploring physical abuse, manipulation, jealousy, separation anxiety, and much more. Many people struggle with softer forms of these in real life so it makes the characters seem so much more human. The other characters are really interesting too, all fleshed out with their own strong personalities and motivations. Like real people they can be quite unpredictable with their own strengths and weaknesses, making this manhwa so much more real.
I think that the characters, depth also depend upon the FL and how much she opens herself up to other characters, as we are reading this story mostly through her eyes. Reading until the end really pays off.
Art: 8
The art style get better and better throughout, keeping things interesting with various angles of a subject and colours appropriate to the themes and mood of a particular chapter. Some proportions are off, but its nothing too major or noticeable.
Overall: 9
This story deeply irritates me, its characters irritate me, the story was unnecessarily extended to such an extent that ML became extremely irritating, FL is so easily manipulated that it's infuriating. The most impressive thing about all this is that none of the problems would exist if any of these characters went to a single therapy session and a little more self-love. Seriously, stop solving your problems with the purest "trust me, I'll get better" and dragging out the same situation, going back and forth to the same problem without any solution, only to resolve everything in a lame time skip, out of the reader'ssight.
i really like the premise & genre of this story, where someone hated so much they would kill just to be satisfied. yet, they can’t do anything cos law, moral, and whatnot so they did it in lucid dreams. i also like how this manhwa explores mental health problems and what it’ll do to someone and their environment. it shows the flawed minds and personalities of the main couple, how hard it is to keep a relationship alive when you're too attached to one another. the manhwa actually starts up really good up to the point where there’s the brown haired boy jaehyeok (?) cos it’s theturning point where the author changed genres from drama-thriller to romance. by the end the manhwa leans too much into the romance aspect of the story, so it felt like i’m reading wattpad love drama at that point… but i forced myself to read it JUST til the end notes to answer my questions.
turns out i was right. it wasn’t supposed to be romance. it’s supposed to be a tragic story where mc spirals into depression to the point where she can’t differentiate dreams from reality. also, the author is requested to drag the story for merch and shit so that’s why it’s dragged like that
i’m honestly just disappointed cos such peak synopsis is turned into rom-com garbage. DON’T THROW TOMATOES AT ME THO, HEAR ME OUT. i like romance. i like happy endings (even tho i prefer tragic ones). but the climax is done. yet every time something resolves, a new “love drama” came up. like atp just end the manhwa bro 😭🙏
so yea if you’re into the type of relationship where the mcs are so obsessed to the point where “i rather die than not loving you”, this story definitely suit you. and, the artstyle is good even tho i hate the small head big body thing
if you like the toxic type of relationship dynamic, this story will definetly suit your taste. It explores the
I love the art style. It is the main reason why i started reading this manhwa and i see it as perfect and definetly fitting for the story.
When I started reading Dreaming Freedom, the first thing I noticed was the art. The shading is really good, but the facial anatomy isn't as good. Most of the characters have huge foreheads, especially the main character. The eyes can become comically big sometimes and in some scenes, the characters end up looking like a pug with how squished their faces look. I could have ignored the iffy art if the story was good, but all the characters are bland and hollow. About ten chapters in I noticed that all the characters acted really weird, I couldn't put my finger on what was wrong untilEunju Seo and Hyejin Kim ended up alone. I realized that it's the way the supporting characters are written, it feels like the characters do a lot of things not because they want to, but because they have to so that the story will move in the direction that the author wants. Every character has a bad temper and gets annoyed really easily, even if it doesn't match up with their previous characterization. Because of this, the manhwa comes off as overly edgy.
