"I think there's a lot of people who want to create but don't. It's like setting sail... That first boat you sail on can be a cruiser for some people, or a raft for others. The type of ship might not be the same depending on your age and circumstances, but regardless, anyone can set sail." If you're in art school or have some sort of creative hobby, an introvert or an overthinker with regrets, maybe even asexual or queer, I highly recommend you give this manga a shot because you can probably relate heavily. CGDCT strikes again, but this time it's Cute Granndma DoingCool Things. This series takes a unique heroine and places her in a situation any creative can sympathize with. I mean when's the last time you put yourself in the shoes of someone triple your age and thought "oh she just like me fr"? It's certainly new to me, as I couldn't stop flipping the pages to see how this granny will make her next choice. The author doesn't shine a light of pity on our 65 year old main character for too long, as she takes adventurous paths in life that older adults stereotypically don't.

Story 9/10 - easy to dive into + once I started, I couldn't put it down. Overall, a heartwarming slice of life with college themes.

Art 8/10 - I really enjoy this style. Grandma is endearing and refined, the young characters look distinctive and got that art student drip. Some panels even feature this captivating lighting that takes my breath away.

Characters 8/10 - Although most of my love goes towards the MCs, the supporting cast are also growing on me!

Bonus! Because the author studied film in college, usually the chapter's cover art has a movie reference that's interesting to learn about, even if you're not into pop of film culture.

This manga is too good to not have a review! Story. 8/10 Imagine you are an old woman. 65years you’ve spent on this earth. And your husband died a few weeks ago. Your kids are married and happy. What now? Umiko (the granny in our story) is waayyy cool. She is dope. Despite her age, she is young at heart. She loved everything about movies, a passion she enjoyed with her husband. Now she watches movie alone and it invigorates her. That’s the hallmark of a passion, it gives you new life. So she goes to watch a movie, and meets another movie lover— a college student namedKai. The age difference doesn’t matter; the love for movies matters.

And so she starts her journey to learn about film! It’s too late right? Well, it’s never too late to start doing something you love. That’s the happy feeling I get when I read this manga.

Art. 7/10

I like the art. Characters are drawn well, we can easily tell them apart.

It has a light easy on the eyes look.

Characters. 8/10

I like the two main protagonists so far. The other guys also seem to be nice. Another thing that contributes to the happy vibe of this manga is the fact that there are no “evil-plotters” over here.

Overall. 8/10

It is a slice of life, very enjoyable page Turner. A must read.

I’ll give a fair warning though, only a few chapters have been released so far. So you’ll have to wait up to get more of this goodness.

Have fun. Thank you for reading!

I felt this deserved a review. I picked this manga soley based on the cover art and that it features an elderly protagonist. It is a very refreshing story something "new" . I like how the story goes into emotions showing prety much all of the main charaters views on each other and taking time to go into bnackstory. Honeslty the manga goes a bit too far into the process of fuilm making for my liking as i have no intrest in that. ( I do rather enjoy myself a film enojoyer though). Themes - end of life regrets , sexuality and or lack of, romance, seeing the world through a digital lens, age gap and the awkwardness of fitting in.

it seems the physical books only are in french unfortunately. read scans up to vol 3. If anyone has an idea where to contiue reading or to purchase a translated copy please let me know!

Overall this was a lot deeper than I expected going into this. also Haru is defintely best girl
