Take On Me is a Hentai, Romantic, Comedy with a pretty interesting story about a relationship between a fairly odd couple. Even though the story may get a bit messy at times, it does come through in the end. The story consists of 2 decent length volumes about a short, timid boy (Tomonori Tsuda) who ends up in a perverted relationship with a tall amazon (Hikaru Ohno). It basically follows their experiences as they grow attached to one another. Even though this is a Rom/Com, the comedy doesn’t play much of a role but at least the romance is done fairly well. However theincreasingly perverted nature of the manga does get in the way of the romance. But the plus side is that the story and the developments are pretty good. Nonetheless the story in volume 2 is pretty disjointed as some chapters either have no relevance at all, to the actual story development or just don’t seem to flow well, until the latter half.

The main characters in this manga are fairly appealing in their own way but have one thing in common; they are all “extreme perverts”. Apart from the main 2, the remaining characters do get their own moments but sometimes it doesn’t seem like enough.

For a h-manga I must say that the artwork is the only thing that’s perfect. The characters are drawn so well that you’ll notice each of their defining features and the background environments are fairly detailed as well. With this being a h-manga, of course the sex scenes count towards this score, with the panels being drawn well and arranged in an easy to read manner is such a huge bonus.

Overall Take on Me did feel like your average h-manga with each chapter building up to a sex scene however because this follows a single story there’s a good deal of character development involved. There’s quite a lot of content for the perverted reader to enjoy, like a large number of fetishes and a few whacky moments. Nevertheless this can only satisfy a certain readers taste but this is definitely a must read for those who are into this type of thing.

For being the hentai manga that it is, Take On Me is shockingly good. Good enough even to read casually; as a healthy amount of well written character dialogue, fun characters and pretty damn good art, Take On Me could have perhaps succeeded even without the unbelievable amount of sex. That's the one clincher, however; there is sex, and the issue here may not necessarily be the amount, but what exactly they are doing. When I say this is fetish-heavy I mean it's jam packed with vividly illustrated and even more vividly described sexual acts that cover a large group of people's no-no-my-god-what-are-they-doing list. Thatsaid, as a flip side, if you happen to be someone like myself who actually has a more, let's say "interesting" taste in their pornography anyways, this is pretty refreshing. It's rare that I find something that caters to my interests, but doesn't cross the line with monsters and blood and whatnot. As far as hentai, this is right up there with Shoujo Sect in terms of quality and enjoyability, and I daresay the best hentai manga there really is out there.

I'll shitlist this so that you don't have to! It has forced cuckoldry snuck in RIGHT AT THE END. Avoid like the black plague if you came here expecting the kinky romance that it sold itself as for the first 10 chapters. The art is pretty passable for such an old doujin, but the characters are 1-dimensional. The main heroine was pretty likable until she insisted on a MFM threesome. The story is simplistic. A villain is a villain because they're a villain. The main villain gets raped by the next villain etc. Basic twin trap boys, basic old loli virgin. Not much to seehere.

Do not remove this review, it is actually helpful and people will read it unlike most reviews.

For the most part, this is a really well done erotic story. I do want to be upfront to anyone interested in this manga that it does include fetishes, mainly peeing, and it does have a thing about non-consented actions. There's even a whole chapter on a non-consented action happening to one of the characters. If that sounds like it's too much, this isn't for you. That's okay. At least you know. Now, for a series that's mainly about sex, I love that nearly every sex scene is different. The author really expresses the body in different positions in a very energetic manner. I love the main characters: Oono, her sister, and Tsuda. They're adorable together and the first few chapters of them getting it on are some of the best. I love all their dynamics and even some of the side characters give interesting flavors to certain chapters.

I will say that the series did go too far three times for me and all three times it was out of left field; it either didn't need to be in it or it went against what the character would have done.

That said, I did enjoy the ending. Pretty typical, but it milked it. The choreography was well done and most of the new characters and events that happened I enjoyed too. It's just that this won't be for everyone.

The following review it's in Spanish and English (translated with the support of DeepL). The version read is the English Translation by “Mangaerotica” The most recognized work of Sesshuu Takemura, and one of the most recognized in English for having been promptly translated during the 2000s. It may not seem particularly “outstanding” now in drawing or theme compared to similar works, however, at the time of its translation it did stand out from other contemporary works in both fields, which is why it was given this special recognition. Starting from its theme, there is an interesting dynamic, the protagonist couple is a tall athletic girl and a shortstudious boy, their only common characteristic is their perversion, which will lead them to a relationship of exploration of fetishes and interests. The approach is effective and developed enough, both reaffirming their feelings, and being open towards what they want to experience, and since it's a hentai manga, it has that freedom to explicitly present what would be impossible in a traditional way.

Nor is it a treatise on sexuality or similar, it simply has a theme that encompasses all its characters, that “perverted sexual” interest as an opportunity to present different fetishes and situations. Constituting another plus point, given the subject matter, there is effort by Sesshu in the variety of approach, and then translating it to the drawing. Thanks to its little more than two decades of publication, you can easily find it uncensored, which favors the drawing (and enjoyment).

Apart from the sexual scenes, there are other different situations presented, where Takemura shows his skill and potential that he would have had in a “traditional” manga, including a few panels in the best Spokon style and others reminiscent of a romantic comedy. But where his dedication stands out the most is in the sequences dedicated to sex, in the design of his female characters, the illustrations are great, the act of the moment with its different expressions, and even when he includes more characters, the sense of what is happening isn't lost.

There is no major shortcoming except for having dedicated a little more narrative to the main couple in terms of trust and exploration of their interests, instead, during the second part more characters are introduced with no greater value than to present new fetishes and other possibilities. Although it in turn aligns with the main intention of the manga, I still find it a pity that it would not have taken advantage of the story's foundations to have enriched its thematic ideas.

Anyway if devotes a great sequence to gather all those points mentioned in a nice declaration of love that, again, wouldn't have that same impact in a traditional manga due to having to limit itself. In the freedom that allows it to be pornographic, it reminds us that attraction to another in a couple also has a sexual component of exploration, understanding and enjoyment.
