A short review of this manga, hopefully this review will lead to more people reading this as I like it quite a lot. Do you like isekai cheat? Do you also like camping? Well I have a manga recommendation for you. This manga is your usual iyashikei/isekai manga, but with the basics of the genre done right. The story and characters are light and sweet, very enjoyable to read for the weary mind. The art style is cute, consistent and improves my immersion. For me, I took my sweet time looking at the art style as I dig it, both character design and backgrounds. I really enjoyedthis manga, because it has some of the characteristics from my favorite iyashikei, Yuru Camp. If you resonate with this review, please give it a read!

If you're a sucker for these cooking, exploring, Isekai slop, I highly recommend this one! It has a simple premise, FMC gets summoned into another world with a portable RV that can provide all the amenities one will not find in a fantasy setting. Basically, it's a comfort manga and those who eat this subgenre up will automatically like it. The visuals are pretty good with its mouthwatering and insightful dishes, while the plot is simple enough and is definitely going somewhere considering its low number of chapters. The only reason I rated this manga so low is it has nothing special going on, and the amountof content you can read off this series is too low to impact its readers. A 6 out of 10 doesn't mean it's bad, in fact this manga is very comforting for me, but as it is now, it lacks enough content for me to rate it higher.

In cooking terms, the balance of the flavors does get a bit one note at certain points, but the mouthfeel is good, and the overall taste is delightful. The premise itself is refreshing; slow life + road trip isekai are somewhat of a rarity for shoujo / josei series, especially stories circulating around adventurers instead of nobility and all the court politics. The cooking element of the story is more common, but the story still handles it well. The art is very clean and dynamic and expressive. Characters are good looking without being generic and stiff. Emotions are pouring freely, and the renderings of food feel verytantalizing.

I do find the pacing really glacial at times. And it'd be okay if the story spends those glacial pacing with character interactions, or worldbuilding, or moments about ordinary yet meaningful conversations, about subtle gestures and nuanced perspective on humanity. but that doesn't happen here. Instead the narrative practically INDULGES in lines after lines of monologue where Rin, the MC, basically talks to herself, or rather to -us-; reacting to things and explaining things and panicking over things that no one else in her world fully understands.

For the first few chapters it's enjoyable in a "We're in an RPG World?!?!??!?!?!", especially if we consider the 'survival' skill Rin has, but as the narrative continues, this staggers the pacing to a halt. I feel like the story can trim about 25-30% of the inner ramblings and it wouldn't change a thing.

Because of this, Rin's new teammates actually doesn't get a lot of showtime despite the slow pacing. Aside from Rin and Vil, the ML, they remain rather flat and two-dimensional. Add Rin's sometimes BOMBASTIC reactions, and the story can feel a bit too much like a slapstick and not in a good way.

But....

Everything else is good, really.

As far as ratios are concerned, if we disregard the ABUNDANCE of self-conversation, the story is 35% cooking, 35% adventuring, and the rest more about building a found family kind of dynamic. And I like both the tone and the dynamics here. The main party may be underdeveloped, but they all still look very distinct in both personality and character. They are all competent, yet friendly, and the niche they're filling is actually a bit different from most fantasy titles. The developing bond feels warm and lovely.

There's hints of romance, but it's a cozy slow burn more than anything. Right now the narrative takes more care to build the basic relationship between Rin, the MC, and Vil, the ML, and I appreciate the patience.

Both main characters also feels pretty rare in this genre. Rin is an active and laidback modern girl and her personality is a mixture of the gung-ho, can-do optimism of a shonen hero and a typical sense of self-depreciation you'll see in shoujo protagonist. Some of her reactions may sometimes cross the wrong line between hilarious and melodramatic, but they're all drawn really well, and she's ultimately a very enjoyable protagonist.

Meanwhile Vil, the ML, is more of a rough-yet-kind warrior type that usually would be the 2nd ML in most RoFan / OI stories. But he's caring and protective in a manner that doesn't feel patronizing, and he's a lot more expressive and emotional than many MLs (even though a lot of it does get aimed more towards food). I really like him so far.

The cheat skills.... it's pretty refreshing that power fantasy quota is quite high but also surprisingly grounded. For one, so far Rin only remains in the backline. Her first 'main' cheat skill is a 'survival' sense that not only warns her of food and danger, but also tempers her emotions so that she easily crippled by fear. It's a useful yet grounded skill and I think the only other story I've seen with this is [The Perks of Being an S-Class Heroine].

Now for the second... instead of being isekai-ed by Truck-kun, what if you bring Truck-kun this time? A magical RV that will never run out of fuel and ingredients, is larger from inside, and is invisible from the outside? It feel so magical and yet, at the same time, so realistic. Just add autodriving, and that would just be the perfect thing to travel the world with. GIMME.

All in all, I do feel like the good triumphs over the bad. I hope to see more of this.
