"Mada Mada Dane" ("You still have lots more to work on") Story: 9 The story of the Princes of Tennis is still far from over. Shin Tennis no Ouji-sama is a sequel to that, and this time, they're up against highschoolers. The original cast is back along with some fine new additions, other seemingly minor characters from way back in Prince of Tennis and new players they’ll meet (and battle) at Camp—new obstacles to face and players they would have to defeat. What’s refreshing to see is the unity among the middle-schoolers and not just according to what school they came from, but as a whole. (PS. I'monly giving it a nine since I'm just halfway in the story and still have a lot of expectations)

Art: 9

The art is as beautiful as always, makes me wish that there is an anime for this already since I can’t wait to see these awesome shots in motion. I’m amazed with the background since it’s incredibly detailed on some panels (although not quite on par with Kuroshitsuji. I know, I have a high standard) and the matches are easy to understand. Despite being black-and-white (it’s a manga, duh) the characters all have uniquely defining features that makes it easy to differentiate them.

Character: 10

All the characters improved in this series, they’ve experienced new things, sufferings and that helped them grow. (I especially like the one about Akaya Kirihara) More exposure are given to other players that didn’t show much in Prince of Tennis (Krauzer for example) and have introduced interesting new characters (Oni, Irie etc.). The character growth is what I’m probably looking forward to the most in this series.

Enjoyment: 9

All in all, I can say that I am thoroughly enjoying Shin Tennis no Ouji-sama. It’s the same old characters but with a new story and I can’t say I didn’t miss them (yes, Atobe too). The characters would keep you laughing and the twists and the matches would keep you hangin' on till the end and just make you want more and more.

As Tenipuri's loyal fans, of course this one is A MUST-READ manga I have to follow. Mochiron da! Like I always accepted from Konomi-sensei' style work this adventure sequel of our oujisama-tachi is awesome as the prequel.. but with fresh stories and plots. They all are now facing special training from high-school level! Our hero-guys from all tenipuri's school that we've known very well appear again with its each main members. Seigaku, Rikkaidai, Rudolph, Hyotei, Yamabuki, Shitenhouji, Higa,NagoyaSeitoku. They're all chosen as 30 special middle-school tennis players that participate in U-17 (high school level's train). Ryouma who's still studying in USA also has been called, sohe came back to japan again and reunited again. Some of low-level high school players were beaten by Ryoma and our young in friendly-match. but then they have to face unique trainings by facing their own friends, teams, and themselves. Good job, Konomi-sensei!

May i take the job of writing an updated review for this manga that appears almost dead in MAL but still lives on tenipuri fans. Story: First with 9 / Now 6 As we expect, Konomi did an awesome work when introducing ourselves to what was the beggining a new journey for the mid-schoolers, but as i did say, the awesome work was done at the beggining, but the farthest the manga gets, the worse the story becomes. It came from building up all characters and it's abilities to ridiculously powers-up that comes out from nowhere. New characters are not well developed as there are many, andall bad things that now come with the manga i believe is because the story went to a road that is even unknown for Konomi.

Art : 9

Still pretty good, awesome, it manages to catch the aura and the sensation that i believe the author wants us to feel. For me it's like watching the anime on the manga (Lol), they manage to draw perfectly all players and their abilities.

Character: 6

As i said, the story started awesome, and it became something that i can't understand. Ryoma instead of growing up, it became someone i wanna punch, can't believe they became the main character from being "cool" to be someone who doesn't have clear it's toughts in almost the whole series, seriously a big disappointment for me. As for the rest of the characters of Japan, the new ones are pretty well developed, but for the lastest episodes, one must read and judge.

Enjoyment: 9

I still got the same hype that i had when i watched the anime, the excitement caused by the matches causes you to want to read more and more, this is the main cause that i still follow this manga.

Overall: 8

One must read the manga to understand some changes on it. If you have liked POT the anime or the manga, i recommend reading this manga, but for me it gets bad gradually.

May i be frustrated on how the things turned to be at NPOT now, but i will still say, the further it goes, the worse it comes. Yours to decide.

new prince of tennis is the sequel to the first but to me falls short of its prequel. story: 5/10 i dont give the story a good score because it has no plot at this point. i understand the fact of japan trying to put together this all star team of tennis players but right now there is a bunch of prelims that are too piecey. im not exactly sure who is the main character for the fact that its call NEW prince of tennis so it sort of suggests ryoma may not be the main protagonist and the lack of ryoma's appearance makes me believethat he isnt. the transition from POT to NPOT is awful for those who want to know what im saying read the last chapter of POT and the 1st chapter of NPOT and you'll see what i mean. nothing is really entertaining so far with the story i give it as high as a 5 because i am hoping that it turns around.

art: 10/10

art is fantastic characters are still some of the best i've seen in any manga or comic book.

Character: 8/10

characters are drawn to perfection but with a continuation from POT so far the characters other than ryoma, tezuka and fuji still have no depth. we still know nothing about all the characters.

enjoyment 4/10

there is too much going on at the same time to really know whats going on. the fact i tend to fall in love with the main characters in every manga/comic i read the lack of ryoma and the lack of a possible different main character(i still believe the NEW in the title suggests it may not be ryoma) leaves me at times not wanting to read. plus there hasnt been a legit math between the players its more like some here some there because it seems takeshi is trying to touch on everyone at the same time so ive found myself reading one chapter 2 or 3 time to understand what happened

overall: 7/10

the characters are here, the new characters look good. i give it a 7 because i love prince of tennis and i think that once all the extra stuff is over it will be great like the 1st one

The New Prince of Tennis is a comedy masterpiece, and all of you are wrong. In the original Prince of Tennis, the manga gets a bad rap for losing control of its identity and puttering out. In my opinion, it changed genres at around the 200 chapter mark, turning from a sports shounen into a tennis comedy. Superpowers begins to appear, and it became almost impossible for me to take the story seriously. The transformation from middling sports shounen to incredible comedy could not have been a better change for the story. The contrast between the increasingly superhuman "tennis" feats and how straight the storyplayed it sent my sides into space dozens of times in the short 180 chapter comedy that Prince of Tennis became.

While the original Prince of Tennis slowly became untethered from reality, the New Prince of Tennis comes out of the gate swinging. Superpowers and wacky characters are abound, with tennis less about how you hit the ball, and more about how stupid you can hit it. Within fifty chapters you will see characters running away from giant eagles, multiple men being crucified by tennis balls, and absurd training regimes that make no sense. The mangaka was clearly just having fun with the story at this point, and the manga is all the better for it.

Once the story's tournament properly kicks off, is when any restraints the mangaka had left disappeared. The plot will at points, violently whiplash between incredibly hype shounen moments, and the most ridiculous things ever put to manga. You'll witness a man literally grow into a giant, you'll see a man balancing on top of his racket during a match, another character somehow gains the ability to create black holes as tennis defense, and it just never stops. I don't think I've ever laughed as much or as often as I have reading the New Prince of Tennis. It is genuinely one of the funniest manga ever made, and everyone else who thinks otherwise is wrong.

As for the art, it looks great, as you could expect for a manga as long as Prince of Tennis. As the manga goes on, the detail put into some of the panels and spreads really help to sell the shift in the story from comedic to epic, and vice versa. The contrast between the serious looking art, and the absurd feats in the matches are also a delight to the eyes.

I know its a hard sell, but should you be willing to read all of the original Prince of Tennis, you will be rewarded with a comedic masterpiece unlike any other in manga.
