Reviews for The Unrivaled Reincarnated Sage of Another World: The Strongest in Another World Through Game Knowledges
Back to MangaSo a pretty 'generic' isekai game manga as people would call it, however I find it simple to enjoy due to a few reasons. First off, the main character is wary and cautious, and doesn't stick his head out in the new and unfamaliar world. He doesn't go super saiyan and wipe his enemies out in one blow, but savours the time spent with the enemy (and then defeating them). To me, it's the process that matters to reach the endpoint (of a battle), not the endpoint itself, that I enjoy. So I have a confession to make, I do like overpowered main characters, andhe does fit the bill. I have some expectations for it to fulfill my entertainment needs, so I suppose I can only keep reading. I hope you guys don't take it too seriously and critique it to the point where I wonder what you actually find enjoyment in, critiquing or reading manga, so remember that it's a simple isekai manga and not some revolutionary ones like One Piece. Thank you for reading.
Aggressively mediocre. This is another generic video game isekai story that feels like it was written by an AI with the following prompts: ISEKAI VR ADVENTURER_GUILD CHURCH_BAD MAGIC FANTASY OVERPOWERED VIDEO_GAME Just reading those keywords above will let you know about 90% of the plot before you even read it. The manga does nothing to remix the genre and just repeats what has been done a million times ad-nauseum. The protagonist never suffers any major setbacks, knows everything about the game world, cute girls are drawn to him (and of course he teaches them how to be powerful), he collects things to craft, and the peoplepopulating the world are in awe at how smart he is.
On the plus side the reader doesn't have to suffer through him doing all of this when he is a child, the MC starts his reincarnation as an adult more or less.
[More info about my review style can be found on my profile] ▶Summary and recommendation: ----------------------------------------------------------------- "Scraping the bottom of the barrel" is a fitting phrase for this manga. Did you end up here because you ran out of good isekais to read? This is a typical wish fulfilment fantasy isekai, but a very poorly executed one. I only reccommend it to those desperate due to running out of good isekai to read. ▶Story: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The start of the manga is a gentle lore dump of poorly thought out systems and motivations for the adventure the protagonist goes on. The setting might as well be a direct copy of themyriad other isekais with adventurer's guilds, 1 to 1 conversion ratio between gold and Japanese yen, skill systems, leveling up and monster loot. There is one original thought put into the world building and that is the fact that the native human inhabitants of this world are extremely underdeveloped in the art of combat. Sadly no thought went into how it should all realistically fit together
▶Characters: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The protagonist is dense, and slow on the uptake and a bit misogynystic. He has the memories of a boy who lived in this world for over a decade yet is constantly in disbelief over how society works in this world. "No way the people of this world is his weak" he says for the 20th time after being shown proof over and over again that they are indeed this weak.
It takes a while, but eventually an impractically dressed girl shows up to be the main character's companion. It is unclear if it is going to become a harem or if there will be any romance as of chapter 24.
▶Artwork: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The art is generic and does little to stand out. It services the story well as the story never tries anything spectacular, but suffers when trying to portray combat. It does not flow well and it can be hard to track what is happening during fights.
Typical isekai nonsense. Overpowered MC uses his game knowledge to become a god. Rules governing the world are whatever the MC makes up that day. MC is as interesting as a plank of wood. MC after realizing he is the most powerful existence in the universe still pretends to be an idiot. MC pulls out whatever random skill is needed for any situation, and if he doesn't have the skill then he quite literally uses cheat codes. MC has to join the guild at rank F but the receptionist can't believe it trope. No suspense. No drama. No mystery. No comedy.
This is a very generic game isekai story and the power system is quite frankly ass but I still enjoyed reading this. There are no annoying female characters that instantly fall in love with the MC, there is a female side character but she kinda does her own thing instead of only existing to simp for the MC which is very refreshing. The MC is overpowered but also kinda weak at the same time? It's like his power level scales with his opponent, he could for example beat some kind of heaven destroying lightning dragon in one of the earliest volumes but then struggle against opponentsthat seemed way weaker in volume 10, but the fights are still well drawn and interesting.
The selling point this story has for me is that there isn't a love interest yet, there is 0 romance so far and no character is hinted to be in love with the MC yet. The story is heavily focused on the MCs growth, world development and antagonists so far instead of romance.
