Reviews for Yamaguchi-kun Isn't So Bad
Back to MangaI absolutely love this series so far. I know it's a shoujo, but I honestly think it can capture a lot of people who are even remotely interested in the romance genre. There are no love triangles or misunderstanding/denial of feelings. They just really care about each other! It's light-hearted and has surprisingly good comedy. The love is so gentle and pure, and to top it all off the art is amazing! Unfortunately, the release of each chapter is kind of erratic, but for now, I am assuming it's monthly (about 47 pages per chapter). Please give this series a shot!
If there is one word I could use to describe this manga it would be "forgettable". I don't mean forgettable in a bad way, but forgettable in the sense it has nothing unique. The author seems to be afraid to deviate from the standard cookie-cutter characters and plot. Spoilers below, so better to skip the next two paragraphs. Firstly, the two protagonists. Asuka is just your standard male protagonist that just has the unfortunate luck of looking like a Yakuza. Plot twist, he's actually a really nice guy that's focused on his studies. Something we've seen in other mangas before that have captured this way better. Satsuki isa shy girl that is the only one that sees that he's actually a nice guy and his appearance doesn't reflect his personality.
As for the plot. It's nothing to write home about. In the 14 chapters I've read, it feels like it's a race to tick all the classic romcom issues. They show one of the protagonists getting jealous, the conflict where the class finds out they're dating, the festival where they end up having some alone time, sharing food from their bento, shyness when asking the other to hang out during a schooltrip.
When we reach the stage where he confesses to her, it left me feeling unsatisfied. There were no conflicts, not character growth between them first meeting and dating. There is nothing about either character that gives them any sort of depth. Their love bloomed for no apparent reason and it felt like another checkmark to tick.
Would I recommend this manga? Sure, it's a rather inoffensive manga that follows the standard issues we read in almost every other romcom. It's great for people new to the shoujo/romcom genre or someone that has nothing better to do. However, if you're experienced to this genre, your time would be much better invested reading any of the other hundreds of romcoms out there.
Exceptionally cute manga about a girl who wants to befriend a male. This makes me squeal. As of now, the manga doesn't seem anywhere near close, but it seems like the mangaka is planning for something short and cute. AND I'M ALL FOR IT. In my opinion, a bit unusual for a shoujo, really. A cute story that progresses smoothly and timely, with realistic characters and cute people. You think you are seeing a lot of cute? Wait until you read it and rush to the pharmacy for insulin shots. Satsuki is such a sweet protagonist, who supports our male lead boldly knowing that just because he looksscary doesn't mean he is scary. A person who stands up for others despite being a little, for the lack of a better term, 'weak' herself. So lovable.
Yamaguchi-kun is the cutest being ever. He gives me real husband vibes. Protective, studious, athletic, a lone wolf because everyone is scared away from him, but truly a nice, kind person. My heart is melting. I love him so much.
Go read this already, for heaven's sake. 'Cause Yamaguchi-kun isn't bad at all.
It's so heartwarming to me and it's so cute please more people will read this manga. The story is easy to understand and cute so I rated it 9. The art is very cute and beautiful and of course very easy to read so I rated the art 9. The characters are very well constructed relative to the manga I miss that there is not too much information but the manga only in episode 13 so I have more expectations that's why I rank the characters 8. Finally I really enjoyed reading the manga and waiting for episode 14 to come out to read itat top speed and hope more people read it
So cute!! I really hope the next chapter gets released soon. The story is so good that I binged in straight through! Yamaguchi-kun is really so sweet and I love his easily embarrassed he gets. He's such a soft boy even though he looks so menacing and scary. Also, Satsuki is adorable and I love how, even though she gets nervous, she doesn't back down for too long. Some manga will have the main character running away for like five chapters in a row, dragging out the conflict, but Satsuki really does try her best to confront the issue, even if she runs away at first. Overallthe manga is super cute and I really hope more chapters come out.
cute manga which will make your heart flutter!! literally my fav manga atm bc it's so cute but not cringy?? and the characters are both amazing, fl and ml. misunderstandings are rarely there or get cleared quickly since both communicate well which i love. the flow of the manga is also good- not too slow and also not too fast. it's really a natural relationship development and "friends to lovers" which i rlly like. although the characters are already good imo they still want to develop which is cute. the interactions between the two really makes me kicking my feet LMAO i love this manga sm andi hope it won't finish soon!
i recommend it to everyone who likes light-hearted romance manga which will literally brighten up ur day !! <3
Prelim review but I got caught up in one sitting and couldn't get enough of these two!! I'm also unsure when this will be updated again - honestly there's enough content in the chapters I recommend reading them even though it's not completed. The story is nothing new - it is very similar to Ima Koi (it even starts the same way) and if you enjoyed You Got Me, Sempai! You will probably like this one. That being said, I liked the relationship between the MCs enough that even though the premise wasn't super unique, I still enjoyed it. It's pretty straight forward, with minimal misunderstandingsand no love rivals as of yet. Since it's a shoujo, I was worried it would take forever for them to be together / have a ton of "meh" in the middle but it didn't. I was pleasantly surprised!! It is super cute and heartwarming.
I like the MCs - super cute, good communicators (though very shy at times at the start) I like how FL wasn't afraid to get to know ML despite his bad reputation, and her desire to help him make friends / show the school he isn't as the rumors say.
There's not much conflict yet, but I think the MCs have a good dynamic and a healthy relationship. It would be nice if the author shows them finish school, maybe living together etc.
