Do you wanna read a manga with horrible isekai writing just to laugh at how bad it is? This is for you then! It's better to view this manga as a troll or joke to enjoy it more. Story: 6/10 The story really does apply to its name. Let's start off in the first few chapters. Our mc's life is absolute shit to the point where his family kicked him out when they got the chance. But little do you know that this is the turning point for him! Our mc obtains a portal into another world. Slowly but surely his life becomes heaven. Personally, the pacing isfaster than anything else, but that's what makes it so good because it's just bad.

I'd call it a joke manga of isekai, but a joke where you want to stay. Just so you can make fun of it for longer. It's every bad isekai trope written out. OP main character, yup. Harem? most likely.

Art: 7/10

To its core, it's basic art.

Character: 6/10

While the story is a joke, I at least like our protagonist. The protagonist is quite innocent, helping others and it ends up helping him out. Once again the stereotype for a hero. He has the basic assholes around him of course which are his family.

They aren't that flushed out but then again it's just the beginning of the manga so I have hope.

Enjoyment: 9/10

I suggest reading this where you can see comments. Because oh dear god it's fucking hilarious. I can't tell if the manga is serious but I end up laughing at how op the mc is. Truly it is a masterpiece in the sense that I can just laugh at the tropes.

Overall: 6/10

While I enjoy reading it for the lovely tropes. It lives up to its name for Isekai de cheat. I would have to say that this isn't the best or worst isekai. It's truly in the middle. I would give it a 5 but because of the comments and being able to laugh, I bumped up the overall grade.

If I were to rate the isekai alone it would be a four or three. So if you read this just enjoy it for its so bad trope writing that it just becomes

Isekai stories are escapist narratives, and in that vein, most of them are power fantasies (I guess KonoSuba might be the slight exception). I usually don't have a problem with power fantasies that wear their heart on their sleeve - we need stories like that once in a while after all, but Isekai de Cheat Skill... is apparently where I draw the line. Its attempts at conjuring power fantasy go beyond being blatant, it is almost fully transparent. But that is not what makes it truly egregious. What makes this such a bafflingly poor read is its self-important aspirations to discuss ideas about self-worth despitenot depicting any realistic notion of how an individual goes about attaining self-worth. His improvement cannot be attributed much to himself, after all, he got them through some ridiculously easy Isekai-leveling-power fantasy system, so what conversation is there regarding self-worth? - in contrast, Mushouku Tensei, while too an escapist power fantasy, depicted the main character putting considerable effort into attaining his level of power and skill. You can argue that his betterment was the result of his efforts rather than the power fantasy aspect of the narrative.

The only thing that can be said to be the main character's is his good-hearted nature, and I bet the narrative will conclude on this point of the main character as some attempt to idealise him. But even that aspect did not have enough attention and development, letting it appear rather superficial within the story. I have to say that the art is pretty good, and the whole improvement in another world sort of thing is interesting and can be done competently as seen in something like Solo Leveling, but this... this was just way too lazily done. The main character didn't put in like a decent amount of effort to get his level of success and the fact that he gets brainlessly idealised for his lazily attained improvement in the 'real world' makes it all the more difficult to stomach. That's not only a bad mentality, it's bad writing. All in all, this was just rather painful to read.

This is another typical isekai OP-MC type story where our MC, Yuuya Tenjou, transforms for a short, chubby kid with social anxiety and an inferiority complex to a tall, attractive man with social anxiety and an inferiority complex. So unlike your normal isekai story, Yuuya can travel between the real world and the isekai world, meaning his good fortune is better than most MCs. Of course, we already have signs of a harem forming for Yuuya, but that's to be expected in a story like this. Unlike many manga readers, I like these types of OP-MC Isekai harem trash, so of course, my MAL score reflects onthat fact.

This story has potential to be a pretty good entry to this genre (it's not gonna win any prizes unlike few other manga of its genre) so I rate it 7/10.

This is a very basic isekai power fantasy with the slightest twist to make it stand out. Said twist here being that the MC can go between the two worlds. Yeah, that's the twist, not the whole overweight protag with low self-esteem finding confidence in the new world by leveling up and getting powerful and finding meaning and purpose. A lot of isekai do that whether explicitly or implicitly, hell that's the core theme of Mushoku Tensei and Faraway Paladin, well except for the overweight part. You could argue that the message is a lot more positive and healthy than most power fantasy isekai sincehere despite its genericness the emphasis is put not really on the power fantasy but on Yuuya, the protagonist, being rewarded for never letting his bullying and overall shitty life turn him into a bad person and staying at his core someone who will help others as it is ultimately an act of kindness at his expense that makes his life in the real world get better, even if over the toply so but hey this is an isekai. And honestly all the power to the story for it. If you're a down on your luck lonely person there is a certain catharsis in seeing him becoming a badass, his life getting better, people respecting and admiring him, all the while staying the same good and gentle person he always was. I would love to do that, but the power fantasy aspect inherently cheapens that.

Yuuya doesn't really resolve his low self-esteem because of his conscious effort to better himself it kinda just happens because people like him now. The betterment in his life is simply due to him being a good person and also non negligibly being lucky enough to have a door in his house that led to another house in another world filled the absolute peak of materials and weaponry.

Also, it just so happened that he encountered a powerful monster that he defeats accidentally because his weapons are just that op.

And also, it just so happens that levelling up turned him into a tall handsome hunk.

And then suddenly his life started to get better.

Remember Mushoku Tensei and Faraway Paladin? Well in those stories the protagonists also grapple with self-worth but to become powerful they had to put in considerable efforts. And even then, it doesn't magically resolve their problems, they also have to put in great efforts to become better people, grow and gain confidence. It's a constant deliberate effort and they often catch themselves falling back into their old habits. None of that happen with Yuuya, the moment he levelled up and turned into a hunk suddenly his life in the real world started to get better, people really liked him because he was handsome now, he didn't even really have to deal with his bully as a pretty rich girl he saved from hooligans when he had yet to become a hunk literally arranges for him to attend an elite school where everyone just like him because of his new specs, all in front of those bullies for that little bit of serves you right moment. For Pete's sake at one point he is even in the cover of a magazine as impromptu model because he is just that handsome. None of that is due to his effort, events out of his control favors him and now his life is better.

So basically, karma will solve your problems for you so just wait and be a good person. I know that that's not exactly what the story wants to be about but it handles its themes of self-worth and overcoming your insecurities so poorly that that's how it comes across. Ultimately, I could only see myself recommending it if someone just wanted a mindless feel-good power fantasy because honestly otherwise it's just a generic isekai. And those very aspects that may have made it a guilty pleasure slowly fade away to be just a generic power fantasy. So honestly it may very likely reach a point where I can't even recommend it for that.

I remember back when I was a University student, I would look forward to the releases of this title? Isekai De Cheat Skill is decent due the MC, he is enforced with a couple of good qualities between generosity and so. I actually like how this specific title incorporates involvement between the fantasy and real world. It's difficult to do this beyond a one time deal due to complications? Sadly the good points end there, after reading the manga twice, things look like it's just "being handed to the MC with no spare effort." There are a ton of events which happen so smoothly it is quiteuh illogical. There is no set standard over power scaling, pacing, clarity, the list goes on and on. Like a bunny who is level 4 but end boss level stats? Jesus

It's sort of a bummer, I used to really adore each release of Cheat Skill, sadly the more you re-read each chapter, it becomes more obvious of the flaws. On the bright side, this series is not horribly bad, the story just never reached that point.

Firstly imma have to address how isekai in general is a very bland bleak and washed genre. This is because every single one is generic and how the MC is always OP in the show. The plot of the anime lacks and therefore produces a mid-show. Secondly knowing of how used isekai is this manga is still a better than a lot in my opinion. This is because it uses a topic that is not seen commonly on how the MC is overweight and struggled to fit in society but in the generic anime way. It then obviously goes back to routine with the romanceand everything else but the reason i say its better than a lot is that it uses real-life situations and the mental effects of it as the MC is always self-conscious about himself and seeing how he is treated better just by the way he appears can reflect a little in real-life society. It hits different to people who are fat and loose it because it is always satisfying seeing the MC with his intense motivation to achieve their goals and to see their end result. It can definitely be changed like changing the personality of the MC after or making the anime on how fat he was more psychological but it is what it is.
