Reviews for Kanojo wa Uso wo Aishisugiteru
Back to MangaI don't know about anyone else, but I have read up to ch 11 so far and i am honestly hooked. The storyline for this is absolutely unpredictable - well 90% of the time.. ^^. I cannot wait to see how the story progresses I like the fact that Aoki-sensei always shows the point of view (inner thoughts) of both Aki and Riko. From the music side of things, like NANA (before the anime and LA), it really makes you think what the music sounds like as well.. I really really hope that an OVA or anime comes out from this (not really a big fan ofLAs).
Sorry if isn't helpful. When I read more, perhaps I will update this :) also it's hard to make a review without any spoilers
As mentioned, only read 11 chapters but already overall 9.. I'd give 9.5 if i could, the only thing I don't like is Riko's hair, but maybe Aoki wanted a reason for Aki to give a nickname for Riko ^^ XD and also, I don't think any of Aoki-sensei's previous work had a main female character with short hair before..
Having finished reading chapter 24 not 5 minutes ago & reading it in a matter of two days, I'm giving a freshly read Review, try to bear with me. The thing I loved most about this manga & was very addicting was the way the storyline felt unique yet still an almost typical shoujo manga where the guy is older & the girl is younger, he's her first real love, complications of lies & truth are involved with a sideline of comedy. Overall, I'd give the storyline a 9 out of 10! Riko is the typical shoujo manga girl who falls in love after one day orso but being it her first love makes it all the more real, her naivety & inexperience is typical yet the way she feels protective of Aki & puts on a bravado face shows makes her seem youthful yet not as stupid as she's called by her childhood friend Yuu-chan.
Aki is probably the typical older manga guy who has a past he does want to remember yet can't leave behind, his talent & demanding yet kind nature persona is the unique part of him. The way he appreciates Riko & understands that she is a treasure worth keeping makes him the perfect character to read about.
Overall, I'd give the characteristics a 8 out of 10!
The art is fairly very good, not confusing or hard to make out yet not drastically amazing, easy to follow with the right amount of comedy art added too.
Overall, I'd give the art a 8 out of 10!
Overall of the entire manga, there wasn't a boring point that I found while reading, it keeps you glued to your chair & screen wanting more while being unable to wait for the next chapter's release! 9 out of 10!
{Personal note, this manga is now one of my most favorite manga ever!}
i can't believe how underrated this manga is. i know people are already sick of commoner-celebrity love story but you guys should give this a try. at first i was hesitant to read this too. this kind of tandem isn't my type at all. but i was hooked after reading just a few pages. A plain girl dating a member of a popular band. however there's a twist. no one knows him and people only know him by his name for composing music for his bandmates. a 5 member band with only four members performing. there are absolutely cliche elements in the manga. Since well, i guessit's hard to come up with an entirely different and original plot and stories nowadays. but that doesnt mean it has no new elements on it. i started reading this manga many years ago but the release is so slow, the excitement and mini heart attacks are killing me that i decided to put this on hold.
aki, the male protagonist. a genius compositor with inferiority complex. but (he is not the weak though he was depressed at the beginning due to some circumstances.) he thinks of his skill as ordinary and not good enough when in fact he is a genius. he has this "cool guy" feels. you know the usually smart, handsome, quite and serious guys that you see in like 90% of shoujo manga but what i really like is that he also has this cute, sweet, and clumsy side that is laid out so funnily.
riko, stubborn and fearless. she is strong that she never trembles because of fear but of excitement. i love how she is not the crybaby type of heroine. i mean she had a fair share of tears in the manga but it is not annoying. i personally think her cries are reasonable and relatable. not the type of heroine that waits to be saved by her prince.
im no good with words. my words will never be able to give justice how amazing i think this manga is. i really recommend this. i'm just surprised by how underrated this is considering that two countries had adapted this into live action (japan & SK)
