Reviews for From Overshadowed to Overpowered: Second Reincarnation of a Talentless Sage
Back to MangaStory and character development is pretty good. Alternative Synopses: So this story is about a guy who reincarnated into his own blood line 400 year into the future. He was one of the strongest mage to exist but after his reincarnation, he found the world magic have degraded and more over his family member more of less act like assholes. I really enjoyed the story due to the way MC shutdown arrogant fools and also his desire to become stronger. Most of the Isekai MC just no purpose or their purpose is just to kill the demon king. MC in this story just wantto learn and become stronger because he loves magic. He have an actual goal in his life which he works HARD for. He may be overpowered in magic but he still work hard for other skills.
Moreover art is great, specially MC's mom LOL
This is the single worst manga I've seen in a long time, if not even ever. It's rich coming from me, who is a big fan of stories with such premise - "Powerful sorcerer reincarnates in the younger body with his powers intact". It's really simple, fun concept, and you can't possibly screw up such a basic story... Or can you? To be fair, I must start with the only good thing - the art looks very nice. Action scenes are pretty and distinct, wide pages could be even called beautiful. But... I can't even call the story bad because there is none. Things just happen withoutany reason or consequence. Pacing is beyond chaotic, and there is not even a spec of originality. Author does not shy away from doing something irreversible to the characters just to perform a so-called "Ass pull" returning things to the previous state in the very next chapter. Characters themselves are just hollow shells brought to life by their uncontrollable desire to gasp at/being scared of MC's power. Their designs suffer from the very bad case of "Good guys are pretty, bad guys are ugly" syndrome. What makes it even worse is overly detailed and far too exaggerated facial expressions of "evil guys being evil towards MC" which is a common thing I've seen in Chinese manga. With all this, author's attempts to create dramatic situations are just laughable.
I'm writing this review from the perspective of a person who equally values plot or adventure in a fantasy manga such as this. If one is absent, having another is plenty for my abundant enjoyment. Here both are absent, yet I had some fun laughing at how bad this collection of tropes is, and I want to recommend it as a rare "one of a kind" failure. Out there might be more things as bad if not worse, but this is a first for me. As you can see, this trainwreck of a manga sparked in me some passion to pick it apart, so try for yourself, maybe it's not so bad? Just kidding, it's dreadful.
i unfortunately read this manga twice... the first time i read it was late at night and i was bearly awake i just wanted distraction and i thought then that it was bad. the second time i read it was not too long ago and i regret reading 19 chapter... im usually very much into stereotypicale isekai i kinda find joy in how repetitive it is but this was on a whole diffrent level. the idea behind the story could have been good if the story itself wasnt sooo bad! the drawing are not my favorite kinda style so im not the best to juged that thing in particular. iguess i think it just doesnt deserved my time and like i said ealier i whish i didnt waste my time on it twice even unfortunatly.
there are way better isekai then this one and im not picky so ya.
6.8/10 Initially promising, the manga is revealed to be rattled with plot holes, one-dimensional characters, and annoying cliches. Instead of capitalizing on the somewhat unique and strong foundation and concept at the time, the author follows a basic plot line that has been countless of times, quickly losing the viewer’s retention and attention. There were some neat twists and engaging moments during the initial plot, character introduction, especially “chapter one”— quoted due to each chapter being split into decimals, with each decimal having roughly thirteen pages — however, the author didn’t know how to expand but rather attempted to and failed miserably, creating absurd amount ofcontradictions and plot holes while trying to hide it with solid world-building. The characters were not only contradictory, but they became cliche, generic, and all of the sorts; instead of adding or filling in unique characters, the typical “bad guys” were added to drive the plot, which isn’t an enjoyable read.
The only edge this manga has over the countless of isekais is the solid world building, however, that only retains the viewers for so long before they become tired of the cliche developments and characters.
