Reviews for Yakuza Lover
Back to MangaI read volume 1 + 2 and I must say that I find it quite enjoyable! The story is not extremely strong (hence the 7 for story and characters) but I do like protective sexy male leads. And it is ecchi (not hentai) and very steamy. Personally, I like romance with steamy scenes, but it has to be clear that it does not revolve around sex alone. That is my personal taste and it is subjective, of course! I will start reading volume 3 soon and I pre-ordered the 4th volume. Without giving away spoilers, I did feel that some things were rushed in thestory, but don´t let that stop you from reading this manga :)
This work is very refreshing for this genre. The plot is nothing really special or unique, the premise is very simple and goes almost straight to the point. Regardless of that, the dynamic between the main characters is something I very rarely have seen done in other shoujos and enjoyed throughly, particularly refering to the smut scenes. The art style can be a bit unusual at times, because of some overly detailed panels that can seem uncanny, but it is improved later on. Very recommended if what you are looking for is a story with steamy smut scenes and a lot of fluffy romance.
Overall 4/10: To put it simply the writing and characters are probably taken from a middleschooler's diary in the early 2000s! The manga topics and tags don't match the final product at all. The best thing about it is the cover photo! I honestly wouldn't complain if it was a 12 chapters manga or so but for a 40 something chapters you have to at least do the minimum. Story 1/10: Yakuza Lover is a literal title because there is really nothing to the story other than the love making between the FL and her Yakuza lover. The story is dull. There is no build up, no plot, nothing toactually look for.
Characters 2/10:
We have feisty girl who turns sweet when with her lover, and the Yakuza man that is a stick figure with tattoos and of course he's the most stereotypical beautiful Yakuza guy you can think of. The introduction is poor and the characters are shallower than the Roe river.
Art 6/10:
The art is good, and special care is definitely put for emotional scenes.
I definitely DO NOT recommend this. Cringy, bland, and doesn't even qualify as a time killer.
