Reviews for The Rib of Adam
Back to MangaWhy is no one mentioning the trigger warning at the start of chapter 1!! It literally has a child SA scene! This can be triggering for some so just be warned, it shows a poor kid get r@p3d and honestly for what! The author could have stopped it at almost but instead they decided to add that. I dropped it because I just couldn't get past it, It doesn't even help the plot so I'm not sure what is the point of adding that. It's hard to continue a story and feel emotions other than disgust and disbelief, I started reading it because it saidit was cute but what is cute about that start?!!! Even if the kid isn't related to the MC or the ML it is still a horrible way to start a manga ESPECIALLY a romance smut manga!! It kills the mood not to mention might trigger some who have experience that horrific thing.
Considering the fact that this is but a short indie BL story, the manga is quite enjoyable. I personally liked the fact that a mental issue is addressed, but there are multiple warnings not to take the events of the manga as a realistic depiction of it. It really puts you at ease from the start, so you can enjoy reading without any uncomfortable feelings. The plot is centred on a complicated relationship between two amusement park workers, one of which has multiple different personalities. If you take this condition as a metaphor, you might even enjoy it a self-search/self-recovery story. The art is very smooth andrefined, kind of makes you feel like you're experiencing a dream, so does the dynamic narrative style. The main character is a bit shallow, but does not go below the average level of BL protagonist. It is well compensated by a variety of well-thought personalities in his split-personality love interest, though.
All in all, although short, this yaoi is quite decent and easy to read. And well, since it's short, you can easily finish it even if it's boring and at least enjoy the art.
i personally like psychological themes the best in anime-manga or almost any other form of media. therefore that was what drew me to this manga as well. the main character is kinda boring to be frank, but well he's not even meant to be the main attraction of the series. - that is to no one's surprise the significant other. who has DID - which is stated to not be an absolutely correct depiction of the real life disorder, however - as unprofessional as i am in the field - i still find it a bit problematic how it's handled and ... SPOILER WARNING: ...later treated in thestory. really felt to me like the easy way out - and that's what makes it a little mediocre in my eyes.
still i did enjoy reading this manga a fair amout even though it doesn't really offer you anything special other than this one theme of having this specific mental disorder.
A wholesome manga with a very dark background, a little psychological twist and much much love and affection ! Despite the story being short, its very well written with a good backstory, character build up and affection. The story is interesting enough that it makes you keep going. I love how the characters are build up, both main characters but also side characters. What i feel is missing tho, is that there isn't really any clear transaction from when they goes from friends to lovers. It kinda just happen, cause one of the main characters were pushing for intercourse. There weren't any real conversationslike "let's become a couple" it was more like "i'll never leave you" but then again so can you say to a dear friend, so i guess they are now friends-with-benefits? I don't know... Also i find it a little dissapointed how the end suddenly cut off. I mean for some people they might have thought it was a nice ending, and a bonus with the side story, but i would have wanted a more... something... ending. I don't know. Maybe i just want more of this manga xD
Overall its wholesome manga with a lot of emotions. I recommend reading it, despite the dark past of the main character.
***THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS*** This is just a very short review... Like really short review.. So I just finished like a minute ago and all I can say is ... F* THIS, F* YUUMA... Why did I even read this? This made my heart broke in a thousand ways... Story 5/10 I did enjoy it at first but once it got to the complicated part, they didn't profound more on it. It feels like everything was too rushed and the author has just decided that, that would be ending of it which myself didn't really like. I feel like it more focuses on the sex part of thestory than the actual story and drama itself. I finished this story with a broken heart, wishing I was there to comfort Kazuha and love him.
Art 10/10
I read this because I saw how handsome Kazuha was. I really like the art so much. They made all the characters pretty and handsome. No complaints.
Character 5/10
Other than accepting yourself and moving on. There is no actual development in each character. Both the MC and ML after all the drama, still stayed the same until the end...
Enjoyment 3/10
Don't Ask.
Overall 7/10.
and after reading it all I can say is KAZUHA DESERVED BETTER .
He was the one who suffered all those years, he was the one who first fell in love with Yuuma, he just wanted to be loved and to love, but even in the end all he got is more pain and suffering... He wasn't even allowed to feel happy.
Rei and Yuuma got their happy ending
but what about Kazuha? MY POOR BABY KAZUHA....
Other than my dramatic review because I just literally bawled my eyes out because Kazuha deserved better.
But reminding everyone that this is just my own view of the story and you who is completely different person than me might have different views from me, so check it out ^^
