Reviews for Chillin' in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers
Back to MangaA quick, spoiler-free review: Story: 5 The plot takes a while to make itself known, and there are a lot of things that are hard to believe or unexplained, especially during the beginning. I don't know if there's more to it that got cut out, but the story feels flimsy at times. There are also some problems transitioning between drama and lightheartedness. Despite that, there are some less conventional things that happened that boosted my rating. Art: 8 The art is consistently very well done for characters, objects, and locations. Very few things are unsatisfactorily drawn, and the illustrator clearly knows what they're doing.Characters: 6
The characters aren't as fleshed-out as they should be, and a few important things seem to be missing, making several actions and changes seem forced. Despite that, the main cast are generally likeable, and I was able to follow along with less complaints after the first few chapters.
Enjoyment & Overall: 7
Despite the sometimes flimsy plot and characters, I generally enjoyed the story and character interactions, and the art held up when the rest didn't. I'd recommend this if you're looking for some fun fantasy slice-of-life you don't want to think a lot about.
I will keep this review pretty brief, as it's my first one. Firstly, I greatly enjoyed this story, mainly because it's really... chill. MC marries a demon that he defeats, gathers some... students? Idk what to refer to them as, and resolves some conflicts that I won't spoil. The story was an 8 for me, nothing too special really, but nothing too bad either. The art was a 7, typical isekai manga art quality Character was also an 8, don't have much to say about this one, ngl I thoroughly enjoyed reading these 18 chapters. I am a pretty big fan of generic isekais, but I enjoyed thisone a lot more than most because MC actually chooses a girl instead of being an indecisive pussy. Note: This isn't really a spoiler because it happens in like the 3rd or 4th chapter
Overall, I gave this a 10, but since the only thing that was a 10 was my enjoyment, I reduced it to an overall 9 because I realized that not everyone may have the same tastes as me.
Well, from my adventure of trying to read as many isekais as possible, I would say that this one surprised me in some points, although it is still very weak in others. We all already know how much this absurd amount of isekais has been presenting in the last few years ... Repetitive, forced and uncreative stories. An art more or less, and sometimes below average. A weak and unsalted comedy attempt. But, I can say that this one still managed to prevail in some points, even though many already usual ... 1 - Story [4/10] - It seems that in the first 5 chapters, theauthor does not seem to want to make a normal development, so in the fifth chapter you already have a whole history development forced on without many explanations. The protagonist's harem is already formed in the third chapter, a record time indeed. Some bows are so fast, it's funny. Some moments of trying to give the story a color, or some kind of climax from chapter 10 on, were completely forced and executed in ways that sounded funny in the end. If you want a story well done, here you will not have of course ...
2 - Art [7/10] - Art is consistent and good at times, but nothing too incredible. However, it is not bad, it is above average.
3 - Character [7/10] - The best point of the work is in fact its characters, or rather, the way their comical scenes work. I would say that their personalities are remarkable at times, and sometimes very funny. The protagonist is not all that stuff, basically he is very cliché, but that does not mean that he is weak in making good decisions. And lastly, the main cast is very active in the work, although some have even run out of speaking time in some chapters.
4 - Enjoyment [6/10] - Romance and comedy saves sometimes, but dialogues are often boring, and the climax is nonexistent, sometimes arriving to be comical ... Do not expect a very detailed story, in the In fact, the proposal is very unsalted, and I believe that at some point the author gives up on creating a complex story and gives himself up to the slice of life.
Overall [6/10] - That basic isekai, which uses the same ingredients used in other works, but nothing really incredible. Despite this, it has its quality, which ends up being an above average work, in the isekai aspect.
As a self proclaimed Trash-Isekai expert, I was surprised by this. I have not read the Light novel, this review is for the Manga only: The story starts very generic, the Isekai form is "summoned as a Hero from another world". It's not reincarnation and MC keeps his original body. He unlocks all his skills at lvl 2 but he's only lvl 1 when he arrives, so the King just disposes of him instead of kindly sending him back to his own world. By the way, here is the first "twist" - this MC is not from Japan, but from a different fantasy world! I have read my fairshare of Isekai, but from one fantasy world to another seems to be very rare.
In his World demi-humans are usually slaves, the new World doesn't have such a concept.
Anyways, as the title says he gets OP as fuck and uses the power to... just stay hidden and keep a peaceful life. Well, at least that's what he wants - but the demon king and the human king want to use him in their meaningless war.
Another strong point for the Manga in particular is the art. It's clearly above average, it's not Murata (one punch man) level, but it's definetly a 8/10, maybe even 9/10.
The MC also gets bonus points for not being a dense piece of shit. He didn't realize all his stats were OP from the start, but got the grasp pretty fast. Since he's not from Japan but from a Fantasy world he doesn't have a hard time to adapt. He allready knows things like magic and dragons exist. He also wasn't a Loser in his other world, but a merchant with a lot of subordinates. This makes it a little harder to use the Isekai as escapeism, though.
This is not a parody, but it's stil very entertaining.
A Downside I noticed: Sometimes it feels like there was some skipped plot. You don't really notice when the MC realizes he's OP, sometimes plot advances too fast and you get the feeling that some conversation or explanation was skipped. But that's stil fine, I rate this 7/10 - good isekai, above average for sure.
I feel like this would work very well as an Anime. You can't have enough Isekai Anime.
This is a sad combination of an unremarkable story and bad execution. There is no real story here. Outside of the initial premise most of the stuff just happens and has barly any connection to things before or after. It's also not interesting in the moment as the MC will solve everything anyway due to him being way to overpowered even for this kind of story. Most of the problems also lack proper exploration and the solution rarely has an effect on the status quo. The only really remarkable thing is the lack of a harem in spite of the MC sharing a house with mutibleattractive women.
The characters are also disappointingly flat. Most blend togehter as generic "good guys" only having one trait or interest to set them apart. The romance aspect is also extremly superficial and there are no attempts to deepen the connection between the characters.
All in all I can't recommend this manga to anybody.
This one is like a wine. It becomes better further the plot goes. Plot: 6 Something different is that our MC is already from fantasy word, so no truck-kun in this one. That is kinda refreshing. Other things were not that innovative but done well. Aftere first "average" setting, there are some surprises later in the story. Characters: 8 I find them and their interractions most valuable part of this manga. They are written to behave naturally and also there are many "gray" characters, which motivations are not commendable, yet understandable. Art: 9 Very well drawn. I personally enjoyed style of this manga, You can see that this one wasmade by experienced mangaka with talent.
Overall: 7,5-8
Yeah, especially in comparison to many isekai, this one has relaxing, soothing aspect + is rather enjoyable to read. I fell like it deserves to be considered above average at least.
This manga is a cut above, in my opinion. As other reviewers have noted, the plot is a slow burn as the consequences of the MC's refusal to take sides in the human vs demon conflict begins to create ripples in the world, setting the course of history moving in a new and better direction. The art style is appealing, and can get quite detailed during action scenes (of which there are plenty of good ones). One thing I particularly appreciate -- the author also doesn't force all the female characters to pine endlessly after the MC, and actually gives them character development (how novel!).Indeed, unexpected romances bud which will warm your heart. Any ecchi elements are kept to a minimum as well, so this is a pretty guilt-free read. Enjoy!
First manga review.. Story : 6/10 Beginning of the story, a typical isekai anime. The whole story tend to focus on the SoL and romance side than the magic or fight stuff and a bit of comedy to lighten up the mood of the story. Adding the side-villain character, not that important. A bit of fan-service but not that much. So everything is in balance if you like SoL fantasy-ish story. Art : 8/10 Really surprisingly good. I mean you can't compare it with the big shot manga. For an isekai manga this one of the good art isekai manga I've ever seen. The detail ofthe character, the stage, the environment, the mobs, even the magic itself.
Character : 7/10
Not that big of a deal but all of them likeable. Even for the side-villain.
Overall : 7/10
One of my favorite fantasy manga. Really light if you just want to relax. Really recommended.
An isekai'ish (MC is from another game world) power fantasy with a "harem" (MC only sleep and flirt with his wife - Fenrys, but he collects a lot of girls as freeloaders in his house). Fenrys is The Best girl (I think she carries the whole anime btw, as it feels more of a slog than a manga adaptation). How author actually show her loyalty and love to the MC is a top tier writing. Sadly, I cant say many great words about story itself - it is just decent. It is written about the overused theme of fixing race discrimination with nothing that stands out,no interesting twists, nothing to write home about. It is just there, a backdrop for the Fenrys character.
