Reviews for Futari de Koi wo Suru Riyuu
Back to MangaI just finished reading this manga and saw it had no reviews, so I thought I would leave one for anyone that is thinking about reading it or just wants a second opinion. STORY: The trope is pretty typical, school romance and first loves. In this manga we follow Andou, Urara which is a first year student (high school). One day she meets a guy that helps her out, which turns out to be Okinawa, Aiji. The story is quite different from other romance mangas I have read in terms of how it ends, who ends up with who and so on.. This made the storystick out and quite interesting. Unfortunately I spoiled the ending to myself, I won't spoil it for you.
CHARACTERS: The characters differ from each other quite a bit, and you see a clear difference between the guys in the way they act. I feel like the male characters are quite refreshing (as refreshing they can be in this particular genre) and I was happy to see that new characters were introduced over time. Other than that, the characters don't really have much depth (as in other genres where they have long and big backstories to why they turned out a certain way).
ART: The art is just simply fantastic! I enjoyed every single page of it. Besides, there is some really funny and cute panels in it. I was smiling a lot when I read it.
Overall, this is a great light hearted romance manga with many cute moments. To people that like romance manga or are new to it and want to try something else, I highly recommend reading this one.

The story follows Uraru Andou, a shy and kindhearted girl who falls in love at first sight with Aiji Okaniwa, after he rescues her during a scary incident on the subway. She’s captivated by his warmth and strength, and her heart is set on him. In an effort to get closer to Aiji, she begins spending time with his friend, Misono Jun. Now here’s where the magic happens. At first, Jun seems like the worst possible ally, rude, aloof, and rough around the edges. But underneath that is someone observant and emotionally complex. As he watches Uraru struggle with her unrequited feelings and sees her sincerity andquiet strength, something begins to shift in him. He starts to care. Deeply. He helps her heal when her heart breaks. He shows up when it matters. And slowly, through all the subtle, tender moments, he starts to fall in love with her.
Jun’s transformation from blunt and distant to protective and quietly devoted is one of the most emotionally rewarding parts of the story. He doesn’t just fall for Uraru, he grows for her. And when he confronts Aiji, his own best friend, for dating her while harboring feelings for someone else, it’s a powerful, unforgettable scene. He stands up for her in the way she always deserved.
Which brings me to the part that frustrated me, Aiji’s decision to date Uraru despite being emotionally entangled with Maaya Arisaka. That betrayal of her trust was hard to watch, and while it might’ve been realistic, it felt emotionally unfair. Maaya’s treatment of Aiji didn’t help either, cold, manipulative, and emotionally distant, her presence constantly overshadowed any chance of sincerity in Aiji’s actions.
And then there’s Obitoke Hajime. Sweet, selfless, and steady, his quiet love for Uraru broke my heart. He never forced his feelings on her, he just cared, patiently and sincerely. I truly believe he would’ve made a wonderful boyfriend, and it hurt to see someone so genuine go unnoticed.
But the biggest highlight of all? Uraru doesn’t end up with the guy she first loved, a rare and refreshing twist in the world of shoujo manga. She ends up with the person who earned her love, who stood beside her when she was at her lowest, and who fell for who she truly was. Watching that slow, natural romance blossom with Jun felt incredibly satisfying.
Futari de Koi wo Suru Riyuu is more than just a high school love story, it’s a bittersweet, emotionally layered tale about healing, growing, and learning to choose the kind of love that shows up, stays, and softens even the hardest hearts.
If you like cute stories centered on love triangles this is your tea. The love story between the protagonist and the second male choice is more interesting and well structured than the love story between the protagonist and the first male choice. If you loved reading Hirunaka no Ryuusei you will definitely love this manga. STORY : There are many tropes typical of shojo mangas, but unlike many others, reading this manga was pleasant and not too cliché. CHARACTERS : The protagonist is the typical shojo manga girl, and the male protagonists fall quite into the tropes of shojo mangas, however they made me engaged of their story. ART: I loved the drawing style of this manga. I especially liked the design of Aiji senpai.

I never write reviews but I just felt the need to pour out my overflowing love for this manga. I didn't read a lot of manga until recently and I've read my fair share of romance ones, but I've never read one that made me feel so many feelings in one sitting. I read this manga continuously for a few hrs until I finished it. It's officially the best romance manga ever for me and my absolute favourite one, well in the romance genre. There are officially 3 different guys in the manga the female lead, Urara, has to deal with and though the firstone I actually didn't like him and I'm sure many people would agree. Though even till the end, I still don't forgive him but the female mc is an absolute sweetheart. A lot of the times I found myself crying with her, smiling with her and calling out 'Andou-chan!'. She's the best! I love her so much, I want her to myself but well, I can make an exception for the ML Jun because he's just too cute!
I was rooting for them from very early on but the process and the scenes are amazing, well-thought-out and just gripping. He's not your typical ML. Not the cool, curt, popular and forceful ML. He's so cute, blushing so much, probably more than FL. He just wants to protect the girl he loves from getting hurt and doesn't want to make her feel any negative feelings, comforting her and cherishing her, which I'm a total sucker for.
All the characters were drawn well and I loved the main leads character drawings, both very beautiful and not your typical one plain, one cool and handsome or the opposite. They complement each other really well and Obi-Kun was also a great second male lead. He was the one who got FL out her daze from getting rejected and I loved how forward he was with his feelings and direct. He was the one to push ML Jun to make a move and one of the few 2nd MLs who have given me 2nd ML syndrome, which is rare. I hope he finds true love.
Overall, the pacing, plot and art were all so amazing and officially one of my favourite mangas, if not my fav! It's the perfect romance manga with all the things I love, with no negative feelings at the end, just happiness for the lovely couple! I know I'll have withdrawal after reading this manga and will have trouble finding another that has captivated me so much, but I'm sure one day I'll come back and read it again to experience all these feelings again.
