One thing you have to know about this manga is that it is just pure. The story of how an elderly man and a cat find the joys of life together just warms your heart. Both of them go through various struggles- Fukumaru coming in terms that he is loved and the gentleman dealing with the passing of his wife. And this is revealed gradually though the chapters. So once we have a very light hearted one and other times the themes are heavier but it always ends in the man and the cat helping each other. So the result is a adorable slice oflife story a lot of pet owners can relate to.

I have never owned a cat before but this manga made me feel like i had. This series will pull all of your heart strings. I fell in love with this captivating story from day 1. The character development throughout this story is amazing I instantly fell in love with both the main characters. I have recommended this series to all of my friends and they all think im gay. I really hope im not the only person who loves this manga. The manga starts with a fairly good art style but you could see that it could use some minor improvements. The latest chapterthat came out the beginning of chapter 2 nocked my socks off. The art style changed my perceptions on life.

This series has a very strong plot drive. The story takes place with two main character a cat and an old man. not going to lie the story has put me in some very close to crying moments.

♡♡♡ BIG 10/10!!!♡♡♡

I think I've cried more times reading this manga than reading any other thing. Not even a sad story has made me cry so constantly. Perhaps with the exception of one chapter or another, the tears have been a constant. Whether it's from laughter at the typical struggles of a cat owner (I have 4 cats trust me everything here is incredibly accurate) or of sadness from learning more about our adorable and handsome number one cat dad life or just from the pure wholesomeness... The tears will always come. It's simulteanously the best and most heartbreaking thing to see Fukumaru getting called a "good boy" anda "cute kitty" and see him tear up because no one has ever said this to him. Seeing both owner and cat loving each other and living happy makes me incredibly happy!

So if you want something lighthearted, relaxing, emotive and full of adorable moments this it. Get your free serotonin today!!

Story - 10 Art - 10 Character - 10 Enjoyment - 10 Overall - 10 Plot - a widowed man buys a cat. This is their life together. It's a very simple idea, but wow. It's executed SO WELL. The themes of found family, friendship, love and caring for each other are done so well, as are those of loneliness, hopelessness and abandonment. It's definitely a series to read if you love cats. If you like music, it's probably a series you'd enjoy as many of the main characters are either professional players or teach at music schools. It's a hugely emotive series, be it of laughter or sadness, andnever feels overdone or contrived. It's a slice of life series that I desperately want to know what happens next.

Reread - A MILLION TIMES YES!!!

Buy - I own vol 1-5 in physical copies in English, as well as 1-3 in physical Japanese editions (and I'll collect the rest on my next visit to Japan).

This heartwarming manga is a must-read for any animal lover and anyone looking for a heartwarming story that will tug at your heartstrings. The story follows a middle-aged man named Kanda, who is going through a difficult time in his life. He's recently lost his job, his wife has left him, and he's struggling to find purpose in his life. One day, he comes across a stray cat and decides to take him in. The cat, whom he names Fukumaru, is an adorable and loving companion who helps Kanda get through some of his toughest moments. What sets this manga apart is how the relationship betweenKanda and Fukumaru is portrayed. It's a beautiful depiction of the bond between a man and his pet, with both characters learning and growing from each other. The way the mangaka portrays Fukumaru's personality is so endearing and cute that you can't help but fall in love with him. The cat's love for Kanda is palpable and heartwarming, and it's impossible not to root for these two.

The art style is simple yet charming, with a great attention to detail in the way the cat's movements and expressions are drawn. The illustrations are just as heartwarming as the story itself, and they perfectly capture the warmth and joy of Kanda and Fukumaru's relationship.

The story is full of emotional moments that will make you laugh, cry, and feel all the feels. It's a beautiful and touching story about the power of love and how animals can have a profound impact on our lives. You don't have to be a cat lover to enjoy this manga - anyone who has ever loved a pet will be able to relate to and appreciate the story.

Overall, "A Man & His Cat" is a heartwarming manga that will leave you with a warm and fuzzy feeling in your heart. It's a beautiful story about the bond between a man and his cat, and it's impossible not to fall in love with these characters. If you're looking for a manga that will lift your spirits and leave you feeling good, this is definitely one to check out.

The best part? Its not just fluff, there are real characters and story beats hidden underneath it all. I am excited to see where the story goes and where the author goes from here

TLDR: READ IT TO BE HAPPY AGAIN!

I hate this manga so much, every chapter kept squeezing my heart and tears were not stopping. I have never owned a cat before but reading this manga made me desperately want a cat. This is the first ever manga that made me cry multiple times in a row- IT'S SO SWEET AND HEARTWARMING LIKE GODDAMN JUST LET ME READ WITHOUT HAVING TEARS IN MY EYES FOR GOD SAKE! It also goes in-depth on loneliness but not in a dramatic way. Even though we never get to see the full backstory of the Ojisama, I still cry for him even though I only know a small portionof his backstory. The fact that this manga made me cry harder than other emotional mangas is wild.

Easily one of the best mangas that I've ever read, I love it so much and I wish this manga had more chapters. I need more

Easily 9.5/10

It’s too mundane for me Which is insane — I am one who reads pretty varied manga, I’d like to say at least. Bar a few genre’s like ecchi there aren't many types of manga I wouldn’t give a fair shot. However, this manga bored me. Don’t get me wrong at all, I can definitely see the demographic of people this is made for, an lonely old man adopting a big rotund baby speaking cat, it’s the set up for one of those wholesome youtube stories you’d see on “restoring faith in humanity”, but it’s all just so uneventful. In the short few chapters I readI often found myself wandering off the pages, physically and mentally, checking for everything else to do before coming back to try and read more. The plot isn’t really engaging and I wouldn’t be surprised if there were a million more manga exactly like it that there wouldn’t be much point in reading after you’d finished just one of its kind.

Maybe one day I’ll come back and try getting further into the story, but for now I don’t mind shelving this one in hopes to coming back around one day to knock it off the list.

So I have decided to read this because it’s been recommended a lot and I understand that Akidearest was talking about it in a “Monthly Otaku” video a long time ago. It’s very wholesome ngl like I love cats myself even if they are menacing creatures and the old man in this has got style literally. I wouldn’t call it my personal best because all it’s about is a cat and a widower bonding that’s basically it.. I was even surprised as well that this got a Jdrama adaption recently and the cat in that looks wtf bro XD Overall I would definitely recommend everyoneto take a read at this if you love cats and just want wholesomeness added to your own hectic lives!
