This manga has a story. It doesn't have plot advancements, climaxes, or build-ups though, no, and it's exactly what makes Akebi-chan no Sailor fuku a Slice-of-life at its purest form. It doesn't contain plots that makes people follow, you can randomly pick a chapter and read. Doesn't really affect the experience. The art is amazing, I don't have to elaborate. Cinematographic factors are very, very well directed, and even slo-mo could be frequently found, in inanimate objects like manga pages. The character-focus shots are amazing, the panel view movement is very highly technical. The author gave it his best to perform all the cinematographic techniques ona high level. And the art is very coherent with the story, I CANNOT find any flaws. It deserves a 10.

Characters are amazing. They're the purest characters with sometimes a tint of darkness to them, but it doesn't corrode even a bit of their purity. They're wholesome, enjoyable, memorable and impressively expressed. Each and everyone of them have very distinct characteristics, and easily recognizable personalities. It far exceeds the expectations I had and this is such a model way of creating characters. Developments aren't necessary, there are a few of those, just for the flow of the events, and it surely served the purposes. The characters are very much still who they are and they are absolutely brilliant.

I F*CKING LOVE THIS MANGA. Says enough for the 10 on the enjoyment scale.

Overall I give it a 10/10. This manga is so underrated, and for me it's up there, one of the mangas that are the peak of the genre. It really is "slices of life", and it's so beautiful, pure and heartwarming. I would have given it 11/10, hell, 100/10 if possible.

Story: 6/10. There really is no story. This is slice of life in its purest form. If you are looking for an engaging and plot driven manga, you should drop this right now because it is not what you’re looking for. I don’t think this lack of story is bad. In fact I really enjoy the looseness of the manga and how sweet it is without the restraint of a bigger meaning looming over it. It’s just girls having fun. Nice to read and fits the relaxing feeling of the manga. Art: 10/10. Where do I even begin? I’ve read many manga with amazing artand this one just blows me away. I was sure Toilet Bound Hanako Kun was the most detailed and gorgeous art I’ve ever seen. I was so wrong. There are many dynamic poses in this manga. This worried me at first because of how doll-like the characters looked, I was sure it would be awkward. Once again, I was so wrong. This author is a master at art. Every pose is fluid and dynamic. You can count the strands of hair on the girls head and yet this doesn’t make them look uncanny valley. You can truly see these as people. Amazing. Honestly, if you just want to look at phenomenal art I recommend this. It’s so good you don’t have to even pay attention to the plot or characters to enjoy yourself. There’s many, many pages where the main character is just making poses of what she’s doing, like a stop motion. For other artists, I would have seen this as Boeing and “get it over with!” but not this one. Sometimes I will spend minutes just staring at these pages in awe! The author can flex their drawing skills all they want and it will never be annoying to me because they truly are unbelievably talented. Now, there’s also lots of fan service. I, personally, am not a fan of this especially considering these are supposed to be seventh graders. It’s the biggest turn off of the manga in my opinion and I almost dropped it cause of this. While reading, I look at it towards the eye of “girls looking at other girls beauty” since it seems some of the girls have crushes on each other (and also for my sanity). But still, if fan service is something you absolutely despise, I wouldn’t recommend this as lots of panels are just that.

Characters: 7/10. The characters are very cute. They all have little quirks that make them enjoyable to read about. You can believe these are real girls. Something noticeable is they do lack flaws. But this is slice of life that’s not really focused on characters but in the fun these characters have, so ill excuse it. They’re fun to read about and that’s enough. You could definitely pick out one character and have her be your favorite!

Enjoyment: 8/10. This is just so fun to read. Wether it be because of the award winning-looking art, the feeling of childhood nostalgia, the overwhelming amount of love and friendship or just watching cute girls do cute things. I really love it. It reminds me so much of my early childhood. However, It’s absolutely not for everyone. I can already see the “this is boring and a waste of time” comments coming when this series gets more popular, wether it be on this profile or the profile of the upcoming anime. Which, yeah. It has no deeper meaning and sometimes there’s 4 pages of a girl jumping. But if that’s fun for you then I recommend this! It certainly was for me.

Overall: 7/10. It’s in its purest form: good. It’s not ground breaking, but it’s fun. If you enjoy slice of life this is a must read. If you’re a fan of art this is MORE then a must read. If you get bored easily when there is no plot I advise you step very far away, you’re probably just gonna leave feeling empty and disappointed. Anyways that’s my review! Hope it’s helpful.

I happen to stumble upon this manga and let me just say, I'm glad I did. The story's premise is about Akebi, as she opens a new chapter in her life as a middle school student. Since she was young, Akebi has always wanted to wear a sailor uniform, but the problem is, the school she was gonna attend has since replaced the old sailor uniform with a blazer uniform. However due to her charisma, and the fact that her mother made that uniform on her own, the principal gave her special consideration and let her wear her the sailor uniform, hence the titleof the manga.

Story: 8/10

As a slice of life anime, you can't really expect anything to happen out of the ordinary, what it has to offer to you is the daily life of Akebi on her journey to become popular and make lots of new friends, this is the goal of MC. I gave it an 8 because I find it very fun to read, the encounters of the characters are wholesome and very cute <3. It's neither challenging nor confusing to read and you can skim through the panels without reading and you'll probably still understand what's happening.

Art: 10/10

The backgrounds are simple yet beautiful, I like the hand-drawn style it has. I also really love the character design, the style is cute yet elegant. Having a distinct style of drawing is important because that is what you will be known for, but no matter the style, the fundamentals/anatomy should always be considered, otherwise it would look creepy or uncanny. I gave it a 10 simply because the art was beautiful, the character design is an actual representation of how teens should look in real life. The outfits are really nice as well.

Character: 7/10

I gave it a 7 because I haven't read a lot of chapters yet, but from what I've seen there is a lot of room for character development, it's only been a week of school for them anyway, there will be more encounters with the other characters. For now, I'll just review them based on how I feel about them.

Akebi is the fun and outgoing type, she's always ready to try new things in life. From the start, her goal was to establish herself as a friendly and approachable person, so far she has made some friends. While she is the one to break the ice, she is still conscious about the things she ought to do, but sometimes she gets carried away and gets embarrassed, the other characters are charmed and finds her funny because of this. Other characters are pretty generic shy/friendly type, I have to read more in order to find out.

Enjoyment: 9/10

I am really digging it so far, especially the art. I feel like it's not at Yuru Camp, K-On, etc., level but I find its simplicity charming and entertaining. To be fair, I've only read a few chapters so my opinion might change. [honestly speaking, there has been no strong plot or whatsoever. I still like it tho lol]

Overall: I'm happy to give it an 8.5/10.

-There's a plot, but not really (how tf do i explain this) IMO, it will focus more on the character growth aspect rather than the plot itself.

-Beautiful yet subtle art style

-Fun and outgoing MC

Coincidentally, my only review on this profile is a review about Super Cub, which has the same artist as this manga.

And that's pretty much it. What else can I say? Go read it, it won't change your life, it won't be on your top 10 anime list, you might forget about it in a few years. But honestly, it will probably make you smile in the meantime, the world is on fire right now so at least you got to read a cute lil story.

[Edit:ts was written when i was 16 just to clarify, the manga is still not my cup of tea but i dont think like this anymore] Just painfully meh. First few chapters had already make me want to sleep. Literally just normal people doing normal things, basically just super boring. Main character has no interesting points. Just your average "cute girl goes to school" kinda thing "surrounded by normal friends" kinda thing. Looking at the cover, I thought that the story might take a dark turn or something interesting might happen but nope, just multiple chapters of the same ol' boring shit. At least romcoms haveparts where they make you go "DOKI DOKI" or sumn, but this manga just takes "slice of life" as a genre literally.

Overall: Not recommended if you are not interested in mangas with same thing over and over and over and over again.

(Clarification: I've only read the first few chapters, so i can't say for the rest of the manga, but I just can't continue with it. It is just too boring for me.)
