Welcome back to another full hour class with Idiots from the F class. I shall be your mentor today for this review! At the end of this lesson, you will be able to; -Learn how to Cross-dress -Blackmail people into submission -Back-stab your best friend -Find other uses for women undergarments (For example a head accessory for all you skin head types. -Score between 6-8 marks on "Classics" subject -Hack a state of the art machine -Join the KKK, erm.. I mean the FFF-Confess to another girl using your friends voice

-Blow up your school

Period 1: Story

For every educational institute there will always be a class which even though is not a very well publicize fact, "The Last Class" and Fumizuki Academy made no exception. The academy's harsh policy of bullying the "stupid" in order to encourage them to succeed in education (using their own standards of measurements) doesn't mean the academy does not provide alternative solution for the "Idiots" to escape their ill fate.

Who would imagine Fumizuki Academy, a well known academy for developing the "Summoned" Beast Battle system would have a school festival like all those other normal schools. The OVA provides the same plot device like in the original series. F class trying their best to get better facilities for themselves, Akhisa working hard for Himeji's sake, Yuuji running away from his inevitable marriage with Shouko, Muttsurini taking more pervertic shots and yet not having to deal with the wrath of his female peers (lucky bastard) and so on and so on... Expect more nonsensical story courtesy of the "Idiots"

Period 2: Art and Music

Improvement in the "Summon" battle animation but to not such a major extent. BGM are recycled from the original series however new opening and ending songs are introduced. (Though by the same artist)

Now, a little not known fact, the ending theme for this OVA, "Getsuyou wa Kirai" or english translation "I Hate Monday" was responsible for inspiring Rebecca Black's "Friday" In both song they constantly repeated the day name in the lyrics. Only difference is Rebecca Black loves Friday and the Baka cast hates Monday. Alright, you know I'm just kidding right...

And who doesn't get bored of Akhisa's insufferable screams of misery? Yes, the seiyuus have not lost their passion and emotions from the first season.

Period 3: Philosophy

A wise old man once said, "The bigger the size of your harem, the higher the number of cockblocking you're bound to get"

Ok, maybe it wasn't a wise man but a horny old man. What's the difference anyways?

However this concept does not apply to Baka To Test. Even though Akhisa

has only the minimum requirement to have his own "Harem" he is constantly harass by his fellow FFF members.

Period 4: Overall

In a nutshell, the 2 OVAs are practically just the sum of all the stupidity and humor brought upon us in the first season. If you have watch the 1st season over a hundred times (like me... sigh why did I have to do that....) you might not find the jokes as humorous as it used to be. Nevertheless the OVA was sticking according to the manga and thus was the preparation for what's in store for us in season 2. If you're a fan of the first season and not don't get bored easily by recycled jokes, then you might as well attend this full hour class of Idiocracy.

Great minds think alike. Fools seldom differs. Idiots will always be idiots...

The OVA series follow right after the first season. It encompasses the school festival and as far as I can see a extra event that offers no sort of critical plot advancement… But how many of us enjoyed it for only that aspect now? If your looking for a good laugh these OVAs will supply. The first episode covers the classroom event, of which class F fails yet again to decide on time. However, due to a need to prove themselves worthy of himeji, exactly why to be excluded, they set off to make as much sales to graduate from cardboard boxes. A Voyeur shining episode, with some cross dressing to add on. Alas this isn't a summary, but a review. All in all, the first episode felt to me like an average episode for this show.

However, the second episode understands the importance to the summoned battles and provides us with a whole tournament! Yes, we get to see plenty of battles, and of course the underhanded tactics our F class friends must employ to stand up to the rest of the teams. I am usually jaded when it comes to jokes, which one might find odd or not seeing how I still love these types of shows, but this episode was seriously hilarious.

The OVA wisely implements the unique characteristics of almost every single character in the show at least one point. With the advent of a new season, at least at the time of the review, it allowed me to get excited for what is just around the corner!

Too many times are the same jokes recycled and reused. Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu: Matsuri is the OVA extension that was released before the premiere of the second season. It continues on from (around) the end of the first season and follows the main characters at a festival held at their school. Although occasionally witty and interesting, this OVA series loses its charm quickly. Nothing in this OVA series is new - it recycles the same kind of plot format as the first season. Some may argue that this is fine, but in this case it does not do much justice to the series as awhole.

The characters are the same as the first season - all with their own unique individual personalities. But also as with the first season, there's not much development at all. As you'll clearly see, none of the characters advance in their relationships with other.

Art and sound is still on point, as with the first season. You can see the detail that the studio put into its art and audio.

All in all, Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu: Matsuri is not bad - it just doesn't do anything new.

tl;dr

Story: 4

Art: 6

Sound: 6

Character: 4

Enjoyment: 7

Overall: 4

Pros:

- Humorous

- There is a clearly depicted plotline

Cons:

- The design of the plot is nothing different from the first season

- Little character development

- Jokes/actions are recycled from the first season

I believe matsuri captures the essence of what baka to test to shokanjuu, comedy is about: Summon wars, comedy and mild sex appeal. Also, please watch the first season or a lot of the story will go over your head.down grading its rank to a six or seven. 1. The story is rather old F class just trying to better it's crappy situation having only art boards as desks, but it soon turns interesting with blackmail, fear and Chinese cafes. The comedy sort of touched me and it is mainly the absurdity of it all that gets me rolling 2. The art is roughly the sameas the last it suits the story well enough, Having many cartoonesque re-imaginations in shokanjuu or summon beings.

3.Sound is okay the opening and ending give the same tone a festival kind of thing I'm not really great at explaining music.

4. I love the characters the FFF, ("heretics") and the idiot akihsa getting owned in multiple ways, my favorite character tsuchiya doing the ninja thing, and yuiji being super devious. There is no character development in the ova because it is an ova, but if you loved the characters from season 1 they all play some role in this.

5. Personally I got what I wanted from the ovas a summoned battle, comedy and well fun. I think people will enjoy it if they liked the first season.

6. Well that's it whatever tell me how I did.

Well, I’m not sure what to say about this except that it’s similar to the TV version of the show. The comedy is the same as well as all the mess ups and luck that the group has at times weather good or bad. It’s only two episodes for crying out loud and trying to find a way to talk about it without spoilers is not that easy. We still have the same jokes that are an on going gag like one of the male students dressing female and we even get a chance to see Yoshii’s sister sort of have a cameo with hercooking. It’s pretty short so not much there except a good watch.

The animation is stunning, bright and beautiful. The colors are almost brightened as a pastel most of the time, exactly the same as the first. It matches perfectly and could have easily been put in with the rest of the series instead of being an OVA but of course good shows like this seem to always have a OVA involved.

Same voice actors so again, done really well and matches all the good things the first one had in store. We did see some ‘new’ people in the show but they didn’t stand out at all. They just fit nicely in like a jigsaw puzzle without any real complaints. I guess the one thing I didn’t like was all the super loud yelling at times but that’s my own preference. It fit the characters and situation.

Part 1 English Part 2 Bahasa Indonesia -------------------------------------- Well, well, well, what do we have here? It's Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu: Matsuri, or as I like to call it, 'Stupid Test Summoning Festival'. And let me tell you, this anime is like a clown car that just keeps getting more ridiculous. The concept is simple - students battle each other with avatars summoned from their test scores. It's like if Pokemon and standardized testing had a love child. The humor is absurd and over-the-top, and the characters are all as thick as two short planks. It's like watching a train wreck in slow motion, but somehow, you can't lookaway.

But let's be real here, this anime is about as subtle as a sledgehammer to the face. The jokes are hit or miss, and the animation is nothing to write home about.

Overall, I'd give a score of 6/10. It's a silly and nonsensical anime that's perfect for when you want to turn your brain off and just enjoy the stupidity.

--------------------------------------

Well, well, well, apa yang kita punya di sini?

(MAJOR SPOILERS, READ AT RISK) When I wrote my review for the second season of Baka to Test, I completely forgot a few important details that I left out. Thus, I figure since this OVA series is more of a gap between the seasons, I feel I can just fill in the gaps that I left out in my other reviews right here since this OVA series is technically canon since it was referenced in the main series (which I was completely lost about when I saw the flashbacks) and some of it played a crucial role in the story. With that out of the way, let's begin. Again, this review will be pretty spoiler heavy. This is the last warning I will give you.

I talked about the characters a little bit last time, but well I covered the whole ordeal about the second season falling more into a generic harem, I completely forgot to do my

usual heavy elaborations on the characters. So, I figured I'd squeeze all of that in this review. Please enjoy the bonus content I have to offer, though it's not as good as the

other reviews since I did not proofread this one as much. Everything you see was all typed at once and I really just want this to double as a character review and my overall

thoughts on the anime. Also, though mainly because I did not want my second review to be so long, I am unable to edit my older reviews, so this is the best I can manage.

One more thing, though. I was going to avoid writing a review for this OVA series, but something kind of came into light well I was watching it. And that was me wondering

why Akira and Hazuki both did not play as major of a role in the second season as they did in the first. It's nothing to write a lot of paragraphs about, but it did make

me a little curious. And yes, I am also aware I watched the OVA out of order as this review came after I finished the second season. I also wanted to briefly mention this

mainly because Akira does appear in the opening and closing songs, which I find to be rather funny since I would probably place her as a minor character by this point in

the series. She only played one major role in the entirety of the second season and that was the last we ever saw of her. Funnily enough, she had more development in the

special episodes than she did in the main series. Most notably with Hazuki.

Maybe the reason why they phased Akira out was because the whole incest thing might have become awkward with the show's style. And in that regard, I can maybe understand it.

Well this anime is quite sexual, Akira was just a character grabbed out of an actual hentai as all she wants to do is bang Akihisa. I am actually pretty surprised I never

talked about her much in my other reviews, because I actually have quite a bit to say about her. Surely, a good amount of you probably agree that she brought a rather

peculiar flow onto the anime, topping it off with the fact that she prohibits Akihisa from interacting with any other girls. It's a bit similar to the dark drama events

of the second season where Minami and Mizuki got really upset over the same stuff.

I think in Akira's case, however, it's far worse since her reasons for refraining him from other women are purely selfish reasons as she openly admits quite a few times that

she doesn't mind Akihisa thinking "lewd thoughts" about her and even says it's okay for him to read incest magazines. Yeah, I am not kidding, it gets that bad with her. She

has a sense of weirdness that I want to say is befitting of the anime, but maybe even the creators agreed that she was too much since she does quickly become a minor

character in the second season, only appearing in the fan service episodes. Which, you know, makes perfect sense since she is designed to look more sexually appealing than

every other girl, even Mizuki. I do find it rather sad that there's no guy of equal age attracted to Akira, though, as that might've made her character more significant in

the story if her own life was covered in the anime. Perhaps, the writing simply didn't allow for such interactions since the anime does center on the whole summoning thing.

Also, speaking of characters, I completely scoffed off something when I was writing about this anime and that was how Mizuki underwent a usually dark development.

And I don't just mean the dark drama that unfolded between her and Akihisa; rather, I mean how her character suddenly became very simlar to Minami. And I mean this in

only the most scariest way imaginable as well. To explain it more simply, whenever the viewer sees a situation where Akihisa accidentally undergoes an inadvertently

awkward sexual situation (or simply hearing that he was hanging out with another girl, whether or not it is true), Minami gets really angry. This is rather expected of her

character since she's quite obviously in love with him and it's horribly one-sided.

However, they got a litle creative with this later on and, when Mizuki overhears these facts, she immediately turns into another Minami. Albeit, she still retains her

sweet tone and, as such, brings forth a rather sadistic aura around her as her eyes are rather soulless and she surprisingly comes off as scarier than Minami with her smile.

This wasactually pretty comical the first few times it happened, but it got to the point where it kind of goes against Mizuki's whole character of being the nicer of the two

girls. Sadly, though, this is not uncommon of any romance anime to do this. I just figured, with the pace that Baka to Test was going, I would've expected them to actually

break that boundary and actually have Mizuki be more on Akihisa's side this time around. So, overall, I was just disappointed that her character fell into the generic

"enraged jealousy" situation. I forgive her a little as she openly admits that she's flawed quite a bit in the second season, but those are still some noticeably glaring

flaws in contrast to how she was in the first season and I thought her development, aside from her being more blunt with Akihisa about her feelings, was a bit strange. That

is about all I want to say about her, really. She's simlar to a certain other pink-haired girl that I hated upon quite a bit for similar reasons, but Mizuki is not nearly as

bad as her.

Oh, and before I forget, I feel like they did switch around character roles in this anime. Most notably, with Akira and Aiko. As I said, Akira played a more major role in the

fisrt season, serving as a recurring character. Aiko, on the other hand, was a minor character and did not have much time onscreen. That is, until recently. In the second

season, she played a much more major role as she served as being the most sane of the girls in the anime, never getting jealous of anyone and having similar skills to that

of Muttsurini. In other words, a pairing that most people agreed made perfect sense. She even taunts the poor guy whenever possible and puts him into so many comas. The

overall sassiness and appeal of Aiko easily made her my favorite girl in the anime very fast, as she's barely annoying and her level of teasing and comedy is pretty balanced.

She is just a very lovable character and her hair is also both a prety unique color and style for an anime girl, as it makes her look tomboyish and she does wear a more

Though, when she's dressed as a girl, I'd go so far as to say she has the most sexual appeal of all the other girls simply because her personality also adds onto it. As in,

whenever possible, she actually teases the boys with her sexuality a lot. Funnily enough, though, she never receives punishment for this and the boys do.

The gap with every other girl and Aiko is pretty present in the fan service I mentioned a while ago. Though, before I go onto that, I actually have a bit to say about that

and this will be my final part of the bonus content. In this episode, as you would expect, all the characters wear swimsuits and it's fan service galore. Comically enough,

Hideyoshi is actually censored when he goes out of the changing room with only his shorts on, so this actually made me question his real gender in the anime since they went

so far as to censor him. Despite knowing it was a joke at first, this took it to a completely different level, even though I should've thought about that when he had his

own room in the bath.

But, yeah, later on, the girls complain about being hit on (trying to get a reaction out of the guys) and the guys don't care. This is where I get to the part of the episode

that I hate the most because the humor in it (with a few notable exceptions) is rather strange and not really all that funny. Anyway, as you would expect, the guys then ask

the girls if they would get upset if girls hit on them. Darkly enough, they all say they aren't attractive enough for that and this brings forth an unusual aura to the episode

that gets pretty dark later on. But, to continue, the guys become angry with the girls and decide to hit on other girls to prove to them they are attractive.

Comically enough, Muttsurini is hit on by a ton of girls. Presumably, because his character actually doesn't look all that bad as far as design goes. It's hilarious, however,

because he is actually the only true pervert in their group and goes to quite the extremes to get lewd photos. And yet, receives minimal punishment for it. So, after that,

Akihisa and Yuuji basically go around and the usual comedy of their failed attempts to hit on girls pursues. Though, one of them was actually successful until they made good

use of Akihisa's character and he ended the line of complements to the girl in one of the most hilarious ways imaginable. Just watch it for yourself and you will see why.

As the episode comes to a close, the guys see two girls that, at first glance, look like Minami and Shouko. They then grab their hands and the idea here is that the girls

have forgiven the guys for saying they're unappealing. However, as the credits go on, the music gets more distorted and, suddenly, Shouko is really angry with Yuuji, well

Minami is actually just Muttsurini in disguise to lure Akihisa out into a trap. And, despite how comically clever this was (even going so far as to get the credits involved

into believing it was a happy ending), it was the angry of the girls that left the ending unsettling, to say the least. They were all incredibly upset that the guys, who

left in the first place because they were basically called ugly, were trying to prove that they were not. This is, unarguably, the dumbest comedy the anime has ever written

as, even if you were not taking the episode seriously, you feel like you should be since you do remember it had that whole fight scene where the guys were upset over being

called ugly and how serious that got. It's actually prety hard to take the episode as only a comedy when they made that moment that made it into a bit of a mix. Though, as

I said earlier, Aiko actually managed to shed some laughter onto that whole punishment scene. During the ending, all the girls were saying what they were going to do to the

guys and then Aiko, frightened, was actually telling them that the girls were crazy and to run away. Honestly, Aiko alone made that whole ending way better to me than it would

have not been, had she not been there. Basically summed up my thoughts perfectly and, again, this is a good reminder to how she is actually the most sane girl in the anime.

But, yeah, the guys were horribly punished for having pride in themselves at the ending. I actually can't think of why this episode would even be made because it makes the

other dark things I mentioned about the anime look like nothing. The comedy, well written pretty well, did not fit in with how the guys were treated and I feel like it made

the anime really dark, especially when you consider how rough their punishment was for simply standing up for themselves. I would've forgiven the situatino more if it wasn't for

the fact that the girls were so selfish of their own desires that they not only insisted the guys be jealous that they were being hit on, but to go so far as to call them

too unappealing to be hit on themselves. It's just too much for me and, if I could rate individual episodes, that one would have a very low rating.

So, yeah, that about covers up my remaning thoughts on Baka to Test and everything I left out. This got pretty long, actually, but I feel all of my points were made here. Despite

all of what has been said here, don't be fooled into thinking the whole anime is bad. The majority of it, especially the first season, is pretty good. I just mainly felt mixed

about the second season more than the first due to the risks it took, the peculiar dark humor and that fan service episode that feels poorly written. Please, if you need a new

series, for sure give the first season of Baka to Test a go. And if you loved what you saw, the second season is not all that bad. It will just leave a different taste on you

by the end of it all.

This anime is very fun to watch just like the series. Even including the match where a lot of things happen. My favorite character is Hideyoshi Kinoshita. He is a nice person and he is good in cosplaying as a woman. However, he can be a bit embarrassed and not some violent. He reminds me of Makoto Kikuichi from Idolmaster. Now I love to sing this song in the spoiler but please don't get offended by the spoiler. It makes me happy. -SPOILER ALERT "I'm just a sweet transvestite from Transylvania". Haha! -END OF SPOILER- Anyway, I find this anime very fun to watch. Normally slice oflife comedy is my best genre in anime because I find that I can watch more often when the anime is funny because it helps to relief stress and make me happy. I am not offending Hideyoshi and Makoto Kikuichi when I sing this song.

Basically, this show also says that grades do not distinguish a person's character. Who knows that people who have low grades tend to be better in some field than the ones with high grades. Therefore, I believe that everyone is unique in different way and have their purpose in life.

So this deserves a perfect score of 10. YES YES YES!!!!!

This is your typical OVA in-between seasons filler. Expect fan-service, no character development, and probably something with water be it beach, pool or hot spring. Anything to get the characters clothes off. The comedy is about as good as it was in the main show. I remember chuckling a few times here and there. There really isn't a whole lot to say about it. It's just a couple of shorts with the characters you've come to know and love from Baka and Test doing what you'd expect them to do. Nothing special really stood out so I'm feeling like just giving it my default average gradeof mediocrity. 7/10 for being better than watching paint dry, but not something I'd choose to watch again if given the option. Honestly it's getting harder and harder to write reviews for these one off episodes that exist as there own entries. I may have to rethink my "write a review for everything on my list" plan.

A sequel to the first season and a great OVA. Watching these two slightly longer episodes was fun and it felt like I was watching a short movie instead. The story of the OVA is about a school festival where class F tries to earn money to improve their classroom to impress Himeji's father to stop him from worrying about his daughter being in class F. Naturally not everything goes according to plan. The comedy, characters and animation are are all the same as or similar to the first season. Overall this is a great OVA sequel and definitely worth watching if you liked the firstseason. If you didn't like the first season then this is more of the same, or slightly better and probably won't change your mind on the show.

Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu: Matsuri (2011) My only regret with the series and all its OVA and Specials is that I waited this long to see it. The 2 OVA's are hilarious. They have plenty of raw humour in them and gives for an enjoyable time watching. The same premise as before with the hilarity based around the situations in this more unusual school setting. I am slightly saddened at the Miharu character's role getting less and less as time goes on. The art is great for the show and suits really well.Sound is as expected in that it ticks the right boxes.

Characters I love the Minami interactions and Hazuki role you get. Shouko is the best and I love watching her character for how entertaining she is.

The OVA's are really enjoyable and must be seen before moving onto Season 2.

I watched this after watching the second season (wrong order, I know, I know) so my perception of it was a little different from what it should've been, I guess. The story, first off, made no sense whatsoever. But then again, what part of this show does? Despite the obvious plotholes and randomness going on, the anime picks up the slack with humor, running gags, and fun subplots. As in the other seasons, the art in this is pretty decent. There's nothing bad to say about it at all. For sound, some parts could be better, but overall, it wasn't too bad. To be, some ofthe characters appeared to be a little out of character. I'm not sure why, really, they just seemed a little muted form their original selves, but since it's an OVA, I supposed it can be forgiven.

If you decide to watch this, settle down for an hour of stupidity that's honestly pretty worth it.

I would recommend this if you: liked the show at all, like running gags, like cross-dressing characters, like stupid villains and plots, think it's funny when anime characters continuously screw the hell up

I would NOT recommend this if you: want an actual plot, any semblance of common sense

Have a great day everyone!

Here we go. Probably the best part of the Baka and Test series. The OVA's. Usually, I like the series better than the OVA's, but in this case, it's the other way around. The OVA series takes place between Season 1 and Season 2. They are funny, and you will probably enjoy them more than the series. I couldn't stop laughing when I watched them. Especially the dub. The dub is good, except for a few character's voice I don't like. Bu the way that they act out, is really oustanding. I didn't groan while watching them. Overall, they are great, and you should givethem a watch. There are 2 in total.
