SPOILER ALERT A brilliant story, and the system which the murderer uses in amazing, the story itself is good then too, and the plot isn't what you think it is. A cool story, with a second story in it, a piece of Mouri and Ran's past, I gained alot of respect for Mouri through this (and the first) movie. I see this character in a (almost) new light. Same ol' characters, just as usual good, we get a look at a piece of Mouri's and Ran past, which made me see Mouri in a new light, a better light, the new introduced characters, the old villian, thevictims and the murderer are great, all are different, yet the same in a way, and without knowing it (most of them) bear a relationship with each other. Magnificent!

It all begins with Ran having a nightmare, where her father shoots her mother. This actually happened, he only grazed her. Now, 10 years later, Ran tries to find out, why did he shoot the kidnapper, if he knows, he could've killed his own wife? This is the sidestory for this movie.

The real story is how a murderer takes out (or tries to take out) 13 people which are related to Det.Mouri, by playing a smart death-system via cards and numbers. As soon as injuries become murders, our... police team, Mouri and Conan get angered and try to find out who the murderer is, and why he's doing it. It all folds together in the end, with most of the (chosen) victims in one place, this is where the mainplot folds out. At the ending of the movie itself, the reasoning from the past (where Mouri shot his wife) comes to place, when it's happening again, (this time of course with Ran and Conan).

The art's good, so is the animation, sometimes the animation is really smooth and lovely, sometimes it's just normal animation. But they did a good job.

hi i think i decided to review all of detective movie after rewatching it. let's get on to the review Story: 7 this time the story is about attempt at serial killing of 13 people that are related to kogoro mouri. the build up is pretty good although a bit draggy in the beginning but an improvement compared to the first movie Art: 7 pretty fluid in movement there is no really major improvement when compared to the first movie overall pretty fitting for a movieSound: 6

yeah.. the standard detective conan music. if you like the music from the tv series you bound to like this one too

Character: 6

thankfully there is more character on this one. frankly its way too eazy to guess the culprit in the first because of how there is only a few character in there, the second have more character and more diverse personalities oh and the character from tv series is coming back.

Enjoyment: 7

as usual detective conan is an enjoyable movie if you have nothing to do at home

Overall: 7

if you are itching for some detective mystery series then go ahead and watch this one

After the success of The Time-Bombed Skyscraper, the movie staff made plans to make the next movie bigger and better by having it center on serial attacks on the people close to Mouri Kogoro. Figuring out who's going to be the next target is very fun. Not only that, but aspects from Kogoro's past come to light that forces Ran to question her father's character(although, people may find the truth behind it easy to figure out). All of these things make The Fourteenth Target such a treat to watch. That said, I feel like a lot of the choices the main characters make are prettydumb(e.g. was it really a good idea to use an elevator in a building that's falling apart?!). A lot of trouble could've easily been avoided if they were just a little smarter(which they're supposed to be). While the first half was very fun, people might get a little bored in the second half with very little action taking place. Despite these gripes, I still had a very good time watching The Fourteenth Target and would definitely say it is a very fun Detective Conan movie.

Story - 7 A good premise with a lot of mystery and tension. Unfortunately there are way too many chunks of slow pacing, coupled with awkward expositions, that made the movie feel like it was dragging for time. Personally I disliked the lack of viewer involvement in solving this case, especially since the action part failed to fill the void. Art - 5 Definitely higher in quality compared to the TV series, but a noticeable drop from the previous movie and at times unfaithful to the style. For example in the chase scenes, Conan starts and stops jarringly with no acceleration or deceleration. Style wise, Inspector Megure isway more expressive to the point it's beyond comical.

Sound - 2

Definitely the biggest weakness of this movie. With an already poor pacing, the painfully obvious lack of sound other than dialogue made the film feel incredibly empty and dull. There were many occasions where the typical BGM or SE were missing, like "Conan's theme" during the chase scene, "Ran's theme" during the neutral parts and so on.

Character - 8

This is the only reason to watch this movie. A great deal of backstory is revealed on Kogoro Mouri and his wife, which also affects Ran. This was the first real time we see Kogoro Mouri in a different light other than comical, and even come to have some respect for him. We also see Ran's main motive in life, bringing her parents back together.

Enjoyment - 6

Has it's moments, definitely some great comedy here and there. The build up and pay-off is decent.

Overall - 6

It does still have the Conan charm from the TV series and then some. But it is noticeably lacking in certain areas especially in comparison to the previous movie. Still great to watch for the characters, their history and development.

Slight Spoilers Story: The overall story for the movie was quite interesting and reasonably paced unlike the first which I found to lag for the majority of the time. I think there was real growth in this script from the last. It was't so boring that you could tell who did it from the beginning but complex enough that what you may believe to be the plot is flipped around the deeper you get into the story. Art: The usual art that one knows and is familiar with and makes it easy to slip into the world of Detective Conan as per usual. Character: Gaining some backstory on main characters israther interesting since the first ~100 episodes before this movie don't have that. There are only just a few details given in them whereas here you can relate more with the characters based on the information given. However having seen this movie and the first I would hope Rachel/Ran is not at the center of the climax in the rest of the movies.

Enjoyment:

This movie is a definite mark up from the first. Where the other one was slow and predictable, this one kept you on your toes. The variety of crime and not solely murder, which is a common thread in the Detective Conan series, is refreshing and very much enjoyed. It is obviously not on the same level as the movie Clue (1985) but still a rather good mystery movie that I suggest one should watch if they are trying to kill some time. This is a movie I will personally watch again.

Detective Conan Movies Rewatch Before Watching Movie 26: Movie 2 The second Detective Conan movie was a strong follow-up after the first movie, and it was a proper murder mystery to boot! The movie kept the audience on edge by presenting a series of attacks on the cast and giving the cast clues about the next attack. Furthermore, while the movies are not canon, it was enjoyable to watch the movie explore Kogoro and Eri's past, as well as give the audience an epic parallel from Kogoro/Eri to Shinichi/Ran. The climax of the movie is among the most iconic moments in the DC movie franchise. Thepacing and the animation were also noticeably improved versus the first movie.

There aren't many flaws with the movie, though it was too obvious who the culprit was considering the method of the attacks. Also, the case itself was solved in an unsatisfactory manner, which felt like luck instead of logical deduction.

Overall, a solid movie upon a rewatch and definitely one of the more entertaining ones among the movies. 8/10

Storyline: 7/10 This movie’s about a series of attacks where the people targeted are linked to Kogoro, and they’ve got numbers in their names. Their names match a playing card deck, and they’re being taken out in order, from king down to ace. The premise is interesting, though it does feel a bit predictable at times. Still, I quite enjoyed the movie. The characters are decent but not super deep—some have strengths and flaws. Their reactions to the situations felt pretty realistic, which I appreciated. Overall, I think fans of Detective Conan will enjoy it. i personally prefer the first movie, The Time-Bombed Skyscrape. The tensionin The Time-Bombed Skyscrape just hit harder for me.

Art: 7/10

The art style? Just okay, but it fits the story well enough. It’s not groundbreaking, but it gets the job done for the series.
