An office romance that makes the same mistake as other anime in this genre: putting a school romance in an office setting. If you like these kinds of stories, that's fine, and I respect that. But if you tell me that the anime is a good representation of adult life and workplace problems, then I have my doubts. Let's break it down because there are a lot of things that bother me. First, Kannawa, the female protagonist. The story portrays her as someone who struggles to communicate and is always misunderstood. This leads to everyone being afraid of her because she tends to be quite aggressivein her responses. Up to this point, there's nothing wrong with that, until you learn her job title. She's in charge of a Marketing department, which involves many meetings with clients, and she's very good at managing them. This is where it doesn't make sense: how can someone who knows how to communicate with clients not be able to communicate with everyone else? The girl communicates perfectly, so it's a bit contradictory. In the final part of the anime, they explain the reason why, and it's somewhat resolved, but at the beginning, it doesn't make sense, and it ends up looking like a teenager afraid to talk to her classmates, even though they're adults. Second, despite being set in an office, this aspect of the work environment is barely explored. The problems are always personal and rarely professional. In an anime that initially focuses on a boss training a new employee, you'd expect them to show how complicated it is to integrate into adult professional life. It doesn't have to be something complex; it just has to be problems that adults commonly face. The male protagonist, oh my god, he's a piece of furniture. He contributes nothing and lets Kannawa carry the entire story. He's incredibly slow in both his actions and reactions. The story tries everything to put him in situations to develop their relationship, and he doesn't take advantage of them. They make them share a room, walk under the same umbrella in a hurricane, work on a cafe project together, and he does absolutely nothing. You reach a point where you ask yourself, "What more do you need, you jerk?"

The anime improves significantly as the episodes progress. The introduction of two secondary characters breathes a lot of life into it. It allows the girl to have a wider range of expressiveness and interactions beyond the romantic. They make you appreciate her and even develop a little affection for her. The problem is that so much focus is given to the girl that the boy is neglected for long periods, making him easily forgettable. The boy has to be there because a romance requires two people, but if it were an office slice-of-life anime, he would be superfluous. Although the anime improves somewhat, it still suffers from the same underlying problem: it still feels like a school romance. Adult issues are absent; they simply don't exist. There are no problems that a worker can empathize with. Because the girl, as a trainer, does the bare minimum, and the boy spends more time trying to win over the boss than actually working. The anime had a lot of potential in this regard because the company is a marketing firm that works with all kinds of industries. It was an opportunity to use the story to explain how anime collaborations with cafes work or how advertising is done in Japan. Instead, they chose to portray the protagonists as if they were 13 years old again.

When an office romance is announced, it's expected that professional challenges will be included in addition to romantic ones. If you don't, then why even bother thinking about an office setting? This romance, if you extrapolate it to a school, can be told in the same way without any changes.

This is so far not an awful anime. I really like the OP (it's got a kinda South American bossa-nova feel to it) and the plot itself is nice enough, I guess. But... okay, let's talk about the elephant in the room. Bocchi the Rock was a very popular anime a couple of years ago, and it featured a socially anxious girl who... joined a band and came into her own. Which is fine - I liked that anime and this isn't a review of it. But ever since that anime, we've had a spate of awkward/socially anxious characters. Like Monica in"Silent Witch", and, well.. this.

My Tiny Senpai was a very popular anime a couple of years ago and featured a rather buxom young woman who was senpai to someone and eventually they fell in love and all that, in a workplace, and... which is fine - I tolerated that anime and this isn't a review of it. But ever since that anime, we've had a spate of office senpai/kouhai romances. Like "Servant x Service", etc.

(I could be getting the order wrong, if I am just switch it, reverse it. My point still stands).

Well, mix those two anime tropes together, not all that well, and you get this.

This is about a socially awkward woman (senpai) and her kouhai, and this anime seems to only exist to capitalize on these two tropes. I'd be a little less critical if it had anything interesting to offer rather than being a rather opportunistic mashup of two overdone tropes, but here we are. You have the awkward senpai, who is outwardly scary bit inwardly a mess, and the kouhai, who is way, way too tolerant of workplace shenanigans, but weak-willed male characters seem to be the norm in Japanese media.

Setting all that aside, it's not terrible. Art is okay, the plot is okay, there's nothing at all *wrong* with it. It's shaping up to be a pretty bog-standard awkward-girl office romance, and for what it is, you could do worse. If you like these two tropes and are okay with not getting anything original but with a kinda comforting sameness to it, then you'll probably really like this anime. But if you (so far anyway) want something inspiring, or unusual... look elsewhere. This is really just a money grab by some Japanese accountant somewhere who saw how popular those two tropes are and went at it with a cake mixer.

Rated 7 so far, which is my default. I reserve the right to change it and/or rewrite this review at any point,.

This is one of the anime from this season that I was most excited to watch, eagerly waiting for each new episode. It is a very sweet romance, the kind that truly warms your heart. Kannawa is beautiful and has a reserved, serious personality, but from the viewer’s perspective, she becomes even cuter because of how shy and gentle she is. I absolutely loved her character design as a female lead. When I first met the male protagonist, Kamegawa, I did not really like his appearance, and his personality did not seem very interesting at first. However, as the episodes went on, this couple genuinely managedto pull me in, and I started to like both characters more and more. Even though it is another anime about adults behaving like teenagers in love, it is still very enjoyable and well done.

Overall, it is a great romance anime, and I would give it a solid 7 out of 10. The animation is average, but the colors and character designs are quite beautiful. The opening fits the anime perfectly, it is original, engaging, and so good that I never felt like skipping it. The ending left me wanting more, and I really hope they make a continuation.

Plot: Bukiyou na Senpai is a romantic comedy that follows Azusa Kannawa, a clumsy and rigid senpai, who falls in love with her new subordinate, Yuu Kamegawa, a kind and cute young man, the dynamic between them is fun and emotional, showing how Azusa struggles to express her feelings due to her awkwardness with people, the story is light and enjoyable, making it a good option for those looking for a romantic and lighthearted anime. Animation: The anime's animation is well done, with direction by Ayumu Kotake and character designs by Kenrou Tokuda. The team at Studio Elle did a good job bringing the story to life, showcasingboth funny and emotional moments in the relationship between Azusa and Kamegawa. Angela's opening line, "Bukiyou na I love you," is captivating and fits well with the anime's tone.

Characters:

The characters are well-developed, with Azusa making an interesting protagonist due to her clumsy and rigid personality. Kamegawa is a kind and cute character who complements Azusa's personality well. The supporting cast is also well-chosen, with characters like Miho Hotta and Ritsu Kankaiji adding depth to the story.

Comparison with the Original:

The Bukiyou na Senpai manga was written and illustrated by Makoto Kudo and began serialization in Young Gangan magazine in December 2019. The anime adaptation follows the original well, maintaining the essence of the story and characters. The production team managed to capture the dynamic between Azusa and Kamegawa, making the adaptation a good representation of the manga.

Conclusion:

Overall, Bukiyou na Senpai is a romantic and lighthearted anime worth watching, especially for those who enjoy stories about relationships at work. With well-done animation and interesting characters, it's a good option for those looking for an anime to relax with.

I know it might be a little weird, but I put all this information so that anyone who reads it can have a general idea of the most important things about this anime.

If you are a shoujo enthusiast and want to watch some braindead, casual romance and don't care all that much about anything else, you can/should watch Awkward Senpai. Author advice; it's a good show to put on the side while eating something. The plot is pretty simple and straightforward, art is alright, characters are not super deep. The main conflict of the whole show is overthinking and the struggle of communication from both sides, which sometimes get way too dragged on and boring. First 2 eps felt like a lifetime since it was filled with female lead's inner monologues. If you're not a big fanof slow burn, office romance, (fake) dominant female lead, you won't enjoy it much because it is very repetitive and progresses slow.

That aside, I had to say it, I also don't find the male lead to be attractive or good looking either.

My Awkward Senpai — Workplace romances...don't you just love it when there's no drama surrounding the developing couple and you're even cheering for them, despite the taboo about office relationships in general? It is said that relationships can develop in quite a number of ways, no matter the TPO (time, place, occasion) that's a cultural phenomenon rather unique to Japan alone. Naturally, combine that with the perception of taboo topics like workplace romance, and you'd have yourself one heck of a stigma that is pretty much adhered to. However, it's these kinds of professional conversations that fellow office colleagues have that, when they blur the lineinto the office romance, can come out quite the opposite, though that depends on the circumstances.

In a similar fashion, there's the subgenre theme of adult-cast office/workplace romance relationships that we've seen in AniManga over the last few years, with the most popular being that of Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii a.k.a. WotaKoi: Love is Hard for Otaku, which got its start in Spring 2018. Since then, several more series of works have shown up on the seasonal charts to make their nickel-and-dime work, and while it's not hard to admit that workplace romance shows have gotten quite stale in their premise and more so in their execution of the characters that make their series stand out, where, for example, for every quality copy (e.g., Fall 2021's Senpai ga Uzai Kouhai no Hanashi a.k.a. My Senpai is Annoying) there is its cheap imitation (e.g., Summer 2023's Uchi no Kaisha no Chiisai Senpai no Hanashi a.k.a. My Tiny Senpai), it can be easy but yet difficult at the same time to find shows that truly give you the bang for your office buck. Similarly so, mangaka Makoto Kudo's Bukiyou na Senpai a.k.a. My Awkward Senpai, stands on this fine line of decent to good, such that it really depends on how you take a gander at this workplace romance series.

The ever-so-predictable senpai-kouhai close relationship, which is at least stereotypical for this series, sees the MCs of Azusa Kannawa and her newly minted underling, Yu Kamegawa, working together at their video game company's marketing department. At first, everything seems stereotypical on the surface: Azusa is quite the level-headed supervisor of a senpai who makes sure that everything that everyone does is quality-backed and up to the task, and the same can be said for Yu, who feels intimidated by her strict personality and her hard-working dedication to her work. However, as Yu is about to find out, Azusa has 2 sides to her personality — the fearful and ostracizing office side, as well as the tongue-in-cheek, awkward, timid, and clumsy private side that only she and the handful of people she trusts know about. And that sparks quite the relationship, from bonding over video games for a start to showing each other that they have their backs at every single moment, establishing quite the romance between the two that goes hand-in-hand as they grow closer to each other.

Office/workplace romance shows can be easy to watch, but it all hinges on characterization, which this series can be a hit or miss. Like Annoying Senpai, it's nice to see how Azusa and Yu are working together, as they do in workplace relations, and despite the flimsiness of Azusa in trying to wield her Senpai facade of an image to Yu, her troubled private self gives the newcomer a chance to dig at his supervisor's personality with her quirks and features that make her his ideal "partner," as much as Azusa is always seen being both strict and worried about Yu thinking that he would mess up his work, thus inflicting his reputation onto her (which ended up not being the case). However, like Tiny Senpai, the supporting characters do have their personalities too, but they are developed in a shallow way that only serves as emotional support at best. Sure, the ladies' get-together with Azusa, Mio Hotta, and Ritsu Kankaiji (to name a few), helping Azusa see how she stands with Yu, is only brought forth when Azusa feels down and/or needs advice on the "unfamiliar" feeling that she's feeling as the series moves forward with her development. That's not to say that the characterization done here is bad, though there's potential to be tapped that, unfortunately, is delivered on a friendship and case basis.

I'm surprised that Studio Elle was chosen for this project, given that the small studio's track record is bad enough that it leaves a bad impression. Despite producing bad Isekais that just fail from the outset, Bukiyou na Senpai cements the fact that they CAN actually produce decent content on the cheap. Even with a less-than-stellar staff team run by rookie director Ayumu Kotake, the decent source material does allow for some flexibility in its adaptation, and for what it is, I think that the show turned out alright. The music too is also alright, delivering its subtle tones, as are Angela's OP and Ami Maeshima's ED (though giving them a speed bump each would render the songs a little more hype to goodness).

At its core, Bukiyou na Senpai a.k.a. My Awkward Senpai is a decent showing at trying to stay true to the office/workplace romance subgenre theme, without relying much on external drama to present its romance theme well. However (and take this with a pinch of salt), I kind of wished there was extra spice to this that would just elevate the series to predictable but new highs, but maybe that's just me.

Anyways, this is a series that's worth keeping in your backlog if you fancy the stereotypical with predictability but still want quality at the end of it all.

In recent years we've gotten an influx of office romance anime. And while I like them for the most part, I have noticed that they basically just put high school romance in an office. Like when it comes to character writing, there's very little, if anything at times, that would make me think these characters aren't high schoolers aside from the setting. A lot of the time they still act like children who haven't seen a member of the opposite sex their entire lives. And look, I get it. Just because you're an adult doesn't necessarily mean you're perfect whenit comes to dealing with and expressing your emotions towards someone you like. Not to mention, you can act "childish" in laid back situations without being labeled as immature, or at least you should be able to. And as a 31 year old man who's never so much been on a date before, just in case I ever do get the opportunity I don't want to risk having to put my foot in my mouth. But it does make you wonder what the point of changing the setting when the character writing is exactly the same. Might as well just keep htem in high school. Seems like the only real point is so that people can feel less weird and creepy when they waifu or husbando the girls and guys in the anime. I felt the same way with I Have A Crush At Work, which came out last year or the year before. That's not to say this is bad, because it's not. While I can't say it's amazing because it doesn't really do anything substantially unique, I still enjoyed it. Azusa Kannawa is super cute, her and Yuu Kamegawa have good chemistry, and there's several funny moments. My favorite is when Azusa is in the office after hours and tries on Yuu's sweater, and he catches her. It's a nice, fluffy romantic comedy anime, with more emphasis on the comedy than the romance, and even then I never laughed out loud, that I enjoyed in the moment, but will probably forget before long.

I was super excited at getting to see a new adult romance getting animated, but this really disappointed me. The FL, Kannawa, falls under the "cool, blunt, capable" trope of career women, which is great, but her gap moe that draws the viewer in reads as straight up incompetenant. She really killed my enjoyment here She scans the wrong card to badge in/out of work, that she's supposedly been at for over 2 years, but she wears her badge around her neck so that "awkward clumsiness" is pure incompetence The same can be seen in her desire to be liked by her kouhai, which in itself is notan issue, but the manifestation of this desire is a problem imo because the first main conflict is that she can't ask him out for lunch. Again, not a problem IF there was romance-powered shyness that she was self-conscious of, but she's oblivious to any feelings she may or may not have for him at this point & it DIRECTLY contradicts the straightforwardness that her coworkers fear her for and that she's aware & accepting of [see flashback in episode 2]

Episode 3 also has a horrendous voice acting moment where Kannawa's VA uses her standard anime waifu voice on Kannawa, which was so jarring I genuinely thought they spliced in a line from an entirely different anime

I felt some annoyancd with so many scenes having awkward faces due to the characters facing weird angles, but that's minor & a part of most anime

The ML didn't have enough meaningful screentime by the end of episode 3 for me to comment much on him & the side characters are the usual, 2-dimensional side characters you encounter in anime

Overall, the FL pissed me off too much for me to consider watching oast the 3rd episode, but it is one of the few adult romances out there, so it might be worth watching simply because it isn't loli-bait

so I did enjoy this show and I’m starting to enjoy the adult cast work life romantic more and more as I watch this one is a good one. The only problem is it’s sort of went downhill quite quickly. I only think that because with 12 episodes you need to maximise each one and about three of those episode episodes so a quarter of the show had nothing to do with the workplace it sort of felt like a normal romance show which was fine, but since I was sort of interested in the workplace it did drop that and didn’t really come backto it at all

Nothing said it was good and I didn’t enjoy the show so why do you recommend it? It’s not crazy. It doesn’t do anything amazing but it is just a good watch. And I’m expecting there to be a season two because of how it ends.

Overall I liked it

I can never get enough workplace romance stories and My Awkward Senpai is quietly one of the best I’ve ever seen. I don’t know, there’s just something about Azusa and Yu’s relationship that really hit for me. I am a huge fan of slow burn romances so seeing them start as an awkward senpai-kouhai duo before progressing to friends and then beyond was awesome. It’s paced just the way I like it, not too fast, not too slow and every episode brings them closer. I also think the show is somewhat realistic in showing how tepid employees might be to take that next step. There’spotential risks in getting involved with someone at work so it makes sense that the characters move slowly on that front. Still, we had a tremendous amount of progress in this show and all the interactions with our leads are diabetes inducing.

Azusa is hands down one of my girls of the year. Her awkwardness really endeared her to me. Despite coming off like an asshole, she’s actually the biggest sweetheart and wants to make friends, she just doesn’t know how. I found her struggle really relatable because I can also come off like an asshole at times and get smart with people for no reason, but when people actually take the time to get to know me and see what I’m really like, they end up liking me. Some of us just aren’t the best people persons and Azusa represents our ideal character arc. I absolutely love how her character development plays out thanks to her meeting Yu. She goes from the most feared person in the office to someone who can be approached for help with planning parties, drinking events etc. Seeing her come out of her shell was so satisfying and I’ll never get all the adorable faces she made in this show out of my head. Have to give a lot of credit to Lynn for her performance as Azusa. She really sold the clumsy and shy personality and just made you want to hug Azusa every time she was on screen.

Our two leads’ relationship wasn’t too over the top which is always nice. Not a lot of melodrama or cringe dialogue. Just two people who go from colleagues to good friends by being vulnerable with one another. The kind and compassionate Yu and the awkward Azusa made a very nice couple and their interactions are genuine and diabetes inducing. The amount of times I had to cover my face because of how cute something was is crazy. The way Yu helps Azusa open up and be more honest about her feelings by the end of the show was great. The older I get, the more I appreciate stories like this where the characters are adults and still trying to find themselves. I know Japan likes the high school setting because that’s the freest part of many Japanese peoples’ lives, but for a lot of us in our 20s, we’re still trying to figure the whole adult thing out and making friends at this age can be difficult, especially at work where you feel you need to maintain a certain level of distance from everyone. But you never know, someone else might be feeling the same way and desperately wanting to connect too.

I saw a few negative comments about the characters’ multi toned hair, but I really liked it actually. I think the show and the character designs look great. The voice acting is solid, especially Lynn as Azusa and the pacing is good.

This has everything I want in my workplace romance. Supporting characters are fun and help advance the story, nothing gets dragged out too long, we get significant progress etc. It’s just a very satisfying watch and one of my fave shows of the year. I’m so in love with Azusa and I envy Yu so much for having her. Lol. I’ll miss this show a lot.

My Awkward Senpai gets 9 out of 10.

My Awkward Senpai: One of the very few shows I have been enjoying this season. I would go as far as to say this anime is under rated. My Awkward Senpai follows Yuu, a Junior that has just begun work at a new company and has been assigned to work with his senpai Azusa. Azusa is the type to look tough, calm, composed and professional but a lot of the times that's an act. She's tasked with training the new hire and this can lead to comical situations. Whilst at work she maintains this show, at home she's just your average adult coasting through lifeas a single 20+ year old

MAS has been what I can only describe as a pallet refresher. I've seen a lot of romance anime in my time. Some good, some bad. This one feels different. I absolutely have been loving this anime for a few reasons:

1. The chemistry between the two has felt natural and not forced: They didn't start out having feelings, but gradually over time they're moving into that and it hasn't felt like someone is forcing them to do something or they've realized it from the beginning and they just can't say it for 12 episodes

2. The way they interact with each other and defend each other is also natural and sweet: Yuu never hesitating to stick up for Azusa or Azusa looking out for Yuu. It makes for some genuine and sweet moments

3. Work related jokes and comedy: mainly because I work to pay my mortgage off and it just feels relatable. Also makes it funnier that when Azusa comes home she likes to play games and has barely anything in the fridge. This is just me.

there are many more reasons but I don't want to spoil anything. That's the hard part about writing these reviews. I try to keep it spoiler free. Overall I'm loving this anime and I'm praying that when season 1 ends, it ends up getting a season 2 because I don't want this to be the only thing I see from My Awkward Senpai

Aaaah, my comfort zone. It couldn't be greater than this. Last time I saw an anime with a workplace setting was "I Have Crush At Work (Can You Keep It A Secret?)." That was a blast! I have a blast with this as well. And not only that, but I also enjoy reading the manga. It's available on MangaUP! So, might as well read it, right? How did I find this? Actually, I have read it before and haven't continued it because of the length of the series. Could you believe it that this series actually has over 100 chapters today? Don't know if it's any good beyond theanime, because I noticed that a lot has been added and removed from the manga that I even forgot which one was canon. Lol

Appealing (Why did I get into the anime?)

I haven't seen much of workplace romance anime, so this is definitely a great addition to the roster of those types of romance stories.

Hmm, I should watch more of these, shouldn't I?

Platform

Catchplay, and... Crunchyroll. Huff... I should definitely use Catchplay again. I hate being a pirate.

*After researching before uploading this, it's not even available on my country's server. Haiya...

The review;

Plot/Story

Your typical man and woman romance in a workplace. Actually, not just that! Female senpai and male kouhai romance!

The rest? Well, as you guessed from the title of this anime, it gets awkward. No! Not that kind of awkward. It's just that Kannawa, the female senpai, is really shy about everything. She is a shut-in otaku, you know? I can relate.

Now, after hearing that, imagine how awkward it would be when she has a male kouhai to mentor. Not just that, he is popular among women. YES! THAT type of awkward. Which is really cute in concept.

Character

Love it! Absolutely love it.

The delivery of both MCs is really great. The facial expression, the VA, and the animation delivered some banger to these characters. Props to the team for making it this good!

OST/SFX

The OP sounds so great. I saw a Japanese comment on the official OP video on YouTube, and they said that the song sounded like the early '90s. Now, I haven't seen many of those anime OST, but if they sound like this, I would love to consume more. The ED is also great, love to hear a great melody from the ED.

SFX? Well, I would love to talk about it in more detail because I do love some of those moments' SFX, it's just that I would like it to be more pop-ups. But as it is delivered, it might lose its power a bit, not gonna lie. Lol

But hey, still kudos to the team though.

Animation

Also love it! This has that simple style and a really easy-to-animate feeling in it. Seeing the studio that makes this, I realize this is the second studio, THIS SEASON, I found in the wild. I hope you have a great success, guys! I love, I mean LOOOOVEEEE the animation style.

VA

Great!

I never thought that Kannawa would have that deep of a voice when I was reading the manga, but hey! It works, so kudos to Lynn for the great performance of Kannawa.

Other than her, Two Thumbs Up! You guys did a great job to guys. Amazing work!

The conclusion;

The good

I'm glad that workplace romance is getting a little bit bigger. I love to see that.

The bad

I have to catch up with the manga now. Haiya...

Overall, 8.7/10

Great watch, and now, let's catch up with the current chapter of the manga, shall we? I have some work to do. Lol

Out of the many romance anime series I've seen, a small few are adult workplace themed like "The Ice Guy and his cool female colleague" and "Wotokoi" and although both have different themed worlds in mind, they wowed audiences in different ways and this [now] finished series is no exception. This is a series about an office worker called Kannawa Azusa that is a hard working employee at her job albeit slightly intimidated by her surrounding peers as being no nonsense and intimidating co-worker that masks her social awkwardness. And now she has to mentor a new kid- or should I say guy to theoffice named Kamegawa Yuu. The usual story stuff goes on, work things, post work parties, misunderstandings and all the usual romance stuff that happens.

The art style seems to honour the author and/or illustrators of the manga series that came before this but in colour and moving pictures and voice acting from the pages of the manga of Makoto Kudou-san to whatever screen that you may or may not watch this series on if you so choose. The voice acting sounds as if the actions from the manga is meant to sound like a character is expressing the right emotion no matter if confident, awkward or even drunk (adult office romance that isn't hentai). The music fits well with this series no matter if it's the typical background ones when in normal scenarios like at home or in the office.

There are many romance anime series that I've seen and a bunch were high school themed (don't call the FBI on me- put the phone down) and they were enjoyable to me as a viewer no matter if I saw it at the beginning of my anime watching journey or last season with Fragrant Flower. It is a good change in pace when an adult person thing watches one about a possible romance that isn't a "Jim and Pam" like couple like from "The Office US" in a way as the gap between now and your high school years slowly grows over the years.

Overall, I enjoyed watching this series thus far. It depends on whether this will continue on in a few years or if I have to find the manga in a bookshop or online. The sound is great and matches the character's emotions. The animation is awesome for it's genre. It is a well done office series that people can watch if they're getting tired of high school romances no matter not relating to the characters or needing a change of scenery within the romance genre. Watch/read away!

Um, I ate this one up??? What an incredible season this was for romances!!! I added about eight different romances to my watch list this season, and “My Awkward Senpai” was one I added on a whim thinking it would be middle-realm romance fodder that would get the job done but not be anything special, but I could not have been more wrong! This one was just so sweet, and the pacing felt really natural and real. The last episode is especially worth praising. There was something about the directing and the overall vibe of this finale that was just atmospherically fantastic. It almost felt likean entirely different show with how next level it was, exceeding the high bar most anime viewers have for Christmas episodes.

I recommend this in particular to those who really enjoyed high school shojos in their youth but are ready for their MCs to age up like they have. Workplace romances are becoming one of my new favorite anime sub-genres (even though they always have me screaming "HR” at my TV screen).

Writing this just after finishing the last episode. Overall it was a very sweet and wholesome romance that I would definitely recommend watching if you're interested in an office romance. (Spoilers ahead) 'My Awkward Senpai' is exactly what the title says it is. Kannawa is extremely socially awkward and has a hard time interacting with others in a "normal" manner. It can lead to the show seeming a little corny at times but I don't really think that's a bad thing and it was excepted to be honest. In fact I really enjoyed it looking back on the past several weeks as I've been watching. Itcreated some pretty funny moments.

I really enjoyed the art style for this show as well as the opening and ending theme. Overall there's really nothing negative I have to say about this series as a whole. But what I will say is although it may not do anything bad per se I also don't think it necessarily excels far beyond other romance anime. It's good, but not great or amazing. One thing I will say I absolutely loved was how it ended, I wish more romance anime would have the characters get together by the end of the 1st season. Episodes 11 & 12 were some of my favorites because of how Kannawa and Kamegawa's relationship finally developed. Not to mention I loved Hotta and Kankaiji as side characters. Them working together to try and push Kannawa and Kamegawa closer together was so funny to me.

Based on everything I said I'd personally give My Awkward Senpai a solid 7.5/10. I'm not sure we'll ever see a season 2 for this but if there happens to be one I'll be waiting for it!

My Awkward Senpai is a super chill romcom that focuses on awkward but sweet workplace interactions. The awkwardness is actually the main charm it feels relatable and can make you smile without even realizing it. The character chemistry feels natural. Those small, clumsy interactions are what make it enjoyable not over the top, but still hits in a subtle way. There are also some wholesome moments that feel warm, even if they’re not super dramatic. That said, the story is really simple. There’s no big conflict, so it can feel a bit flat at times. Some episodes also feel a little repetitive since the interactions follow asimilar pattern.

Animation-wise, it’s pretty standard not bad, but nothing special. The pacing is slow and relaxed, which works well if you’re just looking for something easy to watch.

Overall, it’s a light, chill anime that’s easy to enjoy. Not amazing, but still solid. 7/10 👍

My Awkward Senpai This show is just another low effort cringe romcom pretending to be cute and wholesome. The whole anime depends on one thing awkward behavior and it keeps repeating that shit in every single episode like it’s something special. The senpai is supposed to be shy and awkward, but instead of feeling natural it just feels forced and annoying. Same reactions, same blushing, same awkward moments again and again. It gets boring very fast. The romance has zero depth. No real development, no meaningful conversations, nothing. Just two characters acting weird around each other and the show expects you to call it “cute”. MC is also useless.Just standing there reacting to everything like a background character. No personality, no impact.

Overall this anime is generic trash. Repetitive scenes, weak characters, and fake wholesome moments. If you’ve seen one awkward romcom, you’ve already seen this shit. Nothing new, nothing interesting, just boring cringe from start to end.

This anime builds the relationship little by little and I love it, there wasn't a single episode that I didn't enjoy, even with some drops in quality, everything is so cute, I totally love Kannawa san. I won't lie to you that at first I had my doubts when reading the description I said "oh it could be good" but with low expectations, and I ended up being surprised by how good it was, I won't tell you that it is the best romcom you will ever see but it is very entertaining and quite cute, the main heroine Kannawa is very tender inside andthat makes her even better, it is very easy to quickly get attached to her, as for the male protagonist, he is not at all flat or pathetic, they handle him very well and you can empathize with him, he is not the typical immature protagonist, this anime has its ups and downs but you don't care at all, and the last chapter is good and not at all disappointing.

If you ask me for a recommendation it's a total yes, it hurts me that maybe this anime will go unnoticed this season, that's why you have to watch it! Needless to say, I'm waiting for the second season, we need it now.

I really liked this anime. The characters were cute and it was nice to see an office romance instead of something set in high school. Most of the episodes were good. I'm not a big fan of some of the tropes in the anime so one episode fell flat for me, but over all I liked the story and I would definitely watch more of it. If you're looking for a slice of life anime that has some laughs and romance to it then this is a good bet. If you're looking for something that's going to dig deep and be super dramatic then thisisn't that experience.
