I liked this show for the following: - Medieval fantasy setting - No characters seem truly OP yet, all have a weakness and go through trouble - MC has an interesting backstory - Large-scale battles, tactics, kingdoms - Human/demon interactions are interesting - MC has a secret identity I disliked this show for the following: - Harem-like aspects (to be fair one is a pig-demon-man, though)- Ending was weak... I actually didn't realize what I watched last week was in fact the final episode 12 of the season

- Fairly predictable plot from episode to episode

- MC teleporting around so often, it sacrifices the journey/adventure of traveling in this world, all to increase the pacing of events

- MC's secret identity turns out to be not-so-secret as time goes on

- Some of the animation is bad at times, like for the mobs

- MC has not been put through enough of an ordeal yet, never really felt worried for him personally, but his troops/army/etc sure

If 5/10 means 50% like and 50% dislike, this is 7/10. I like the setting a lot, I have gripes about some characters, but overall I enjoyed it.

Lately it seems people are systematically review-nuking anything involving fantasy... I get that there is just too much, but you should always watch the first episode of a show if you think it seems interesting... and decide for yourself. Don't rely on the rating number or what other people think. If someone truly hates a show, they would drop it and not finish it! To finish a show means, by definition, that person found the show watchable, or they don't value their own time. The only consideration after that is whether or not you enjoyed it. It is very much NOT fashionable right now to admit enjoying fantasy or isekai.

Weak storyline, the plot is boring. I can't understand why some reviewers talk about "rebirth in another world". I didn't even notice a scene like that. The episodes are action-packed but most of the scenes don't make sense. Like episode 8, for example. The hole in the wall is patched up with a spell, only to then open a new hole in a different place during a counterattack. Military and strategic decisions are absolute nonsense. On second glance, they probably tried to add a "harem touch" but apparently didn't quite follow through with this idea. I really wonder where all these animes without a meaningful story come from. It's truly amazing that they even take the time to animate something like that.

The review that you only need to read!!!! I do not get the hate that this anime is getting, yes the anime is the same plot of op mc but isn't that almost all of anime are like that which btw base on manga or light novel. Take example That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, followed the same plot of isekai op mc path but why is it not getting that much of a hate? I think people are misunderstanding this type of anime, the anime is not bad just that the budget could be less that is why they are leaving out thecharacter development ones and focusing on the important/main plot. Give the anime a try you'll understand the plot and goal of the mc. pretty straight forward. Maybe if the anime has a lot of budget it could be one of the hidden gems this season since the plot is there and if you read the source material.

An unfortunately generic anime that has its music wasted on it. Every season we get dime a dozen of anime like this. Either an Isekai or a Fantasy (or both) with the concept of "but X". This time, it's a generic copy and paste BUT the demon general is actually a human. Unfortunately, it changes nothing. The MC is generically OP, but is also the super nice guy and savior with no extra features or qualities. On the side, we have our own share of cute or hot girls who are all around the MC but are equally uninteresting. The CGI in this anime (for monsters, effects, spells, etc.)is pretty horrendous.

It's sad seeing Kohta Yamamoto's music (AoT S4) being wasted on this work.

Skip, 3/10.

Alright, guys!!! This is another anime to review in this fantastic season of mediocracy! Maougun Saikyou no Majutsushi wa Ningen data. Humans and demons have been battling it out forever... The main character is an OP spell caster in the Demon army. Who happens to be a HUMAN!!! PLOT TWIST!!!! He was raised and trained by a demon mage who made him strong and smart! However, only a select few can know that he is a human, so he has an elite disguise... a skull mask. The main gimmick for this anime is that the MC is trying not to kill anyone in the war butinstead find a way to live peacefully with the humans. Thus, he sometimes runs into conflict on how he spares lives.

He also happens to be building a Harem, and slowly, demons and humans fawn over him.

What this anime has going for it:

It follows your standard cliches that catch your attention and take no real risks to be edgy or unique.

What sucks about it.

It is yet another of the many animes I have watched before, and it has no actual character development or plot movement, which excites me for the next episode.

Overall:

It's a Fine anime to watch, but it's not one you will remember.

The concept of a human living among demons, seeking to bridge the gap between two warring species, offers a wealth of narrative possibilities. However, the anime falls short in execution, plagued by various issues that prevent it from reaching its on-paper potential. The series opens with the Demon King's army engaged in relentless battles against humans. Ike, the leader of the Undying Brigade and grandson of the great magician Romberg, is revered for his unparalleled magical prowess. Yet, his human identity remains a closely guarded secret, as its revelation could spell disaster. This central conflict could have set the stage for a compelling story of espionageand moral ambiguity, but the anime stumbles in its delivery.

Pros

- The anime features a few war tactics and espionage elements, though they are simplistic and not particularly innovative.

- No LitRPG nonsense and nerd video game terminology; magic and spells are not explained unless necessary, which is refreshing.

- Morally grey conflict where human leaders, despite facing a great threat, remain selfish and divided. In fact, human leaders are more concerned with the distant future, focusing on securing their future positions after defeating the demons, leading to internal disputes and lack of teamwork.

- The Demon Lord, Dairokuten, has an interesting level-headed personality, believing how humans can have desirable traits (such as humility) demons could learn from to become stronger.

Cons

- Dairokuten does nothing interesting besides sitting crossed legged on her throne. Leaving command to her minions, and by minions I only mean Ike, because he does everything, resulting him to be practically the de facto leader of the demon kingdom.

- Excessive exposition and thoughtless superfluous dumb dialogue.

- The so-called 'genius' protagonist and his 'intelligent' foes are disappointingly incompetent. Ike could have used his mind reading powers at numerous occasions but didn't for reasons, Ike explains his mind reading ability to opponents for reasons, and despite knowing Ike's mind-reading abilities, Jace the goblin foolishly orders an attack directly, only to act surprised when Ike finds out. Not only that, Jace could have at least pretended he was not involved, because mind-reading powers and interrogation are still not proof or evidence that he betrayed the demon kingdom by ordering his underlings to shoot Ike with an arrow, causing Jace's demise. He then challenges Ike as if that would do anything; Jace was already doomed from that point on, as he became wanted by both demons and humans with nowhere to escape. Jace then offers Ike alliance against Demon Lord, rendering all his previous actions unjustified; leaving you wondering why he attacked Ike in the first place. That's not a rational way to start a revolution.

- There is a noticeable lack of tension. Ike doesn't face threatening adversaries, and his human disguise is not convincingly dangerous. He is often seen casually removing his mask at home, making it hard to believe that he has maintained his secret for 20 years before being discovered by a random maid.

- The forced harem elements is non-organic and unnecessary, featuring a naive defenseless slave maid the protagonist protects from one-dimensional evil rapists, a flirtatious mentor witch who supposedly has an unrevealed history with Ike and does nothing besides infodumping and plot armouring Ike with her broken powers, and a succubus who constantly follow the MC begging him for sex, adding nothing substantial to the narrative beyond wish fulfillment.

- The CGI during action scenes is horrible to say the least.

- The opening song and visuals are overly sexualised and misleading, showcasing characters that are not introduced early in the story, which diminishes their anticipated importance.

- Traitors and spies are introduced at the moment they are revealed, leading to random and unimpactful twists. For example, episode 3's titular 'traitor' is a previously unintroduced goblin, making the revelation feel hollow.

- The title 'Strongest Magician in the Demon Lord's Army Was a Human' is misleading. Ike's human identity holds little narrative significance, and he is not the strongest magician by any notable margin. The difference between humans and demons isn't highlighted either, lacking contrast, with some demons resembling humans or being allies with Ike, fighting for his cause.

- The light novel is still ongoing, meaning this is likely going to be yet another incomplete adaptation with an open ending. It's not even a good adaptation, with some scenes lifted verbatim from descriptive narration, which isn't welcome in audio-visual mediums.

Although it is tagged as isekai, it doesn't reveal this element until later, worsening the story as the isekai aspect proves to be a needless gimmick (much like most contemporary isekais). The narrative could function perfectly well without a human being transported into a fantasy 'Dragon Quest knockoff' world; it could have been a generic low fantasy. Additionally, the series incorporates harem elements that add nothing serious or consequential, merely fueling the wish fulfillment fantasies of twenty-something male virgins. Despite its promising premise, it ends up being yet another otaku wish fulfillment power fantasy. It is not entirely without merit, offering some interesting ideas. It isn't complete trash, one step above average current isekai, but that's a low bar to begin with.

The anime is good, better than expected, its story tends to be a little interesting, the affection of the main character makes the anime watchable, as well as the maid and the pig, it also has other interesting things in its story, especially on the side that, there are objects and indications of a much more advanced human civilization that was lost in time (although it does not focus on this, it only mentions it). It is an anime with an interesting premise, but the low budget in animation takes away too much from it, taking into account that after the management of territories, thisis the second most important thing, but the story although it has already been seen is interesting, since they do not show the main character as all-powerful, the story is somewhat interesting, but the animation makes it heavy to watch

The premise given by the title seems unique--a human not only working alongside demons but commanding their respect--but it nosedives straight into a subpar generic plot. It's impressive that the anime with the most unique title/premise turned out to be the most generic out of a lineup of fantasy and isekai anime with far more generic titles. Granted, I'm only 4 episodes in, but a lot of the promises that were set up in this anime's story have been broken. Of those promises: the MC who is the human in the demon lord army and who is designated the "strongest" is not shown to be thestrongest (or smartest or otherwise having any sort of interesting quality) in any of his actions; and (not really a spoiler but if anyone truly cares this is a very minor SPOILER) his race being human being a secret to the other demons is not actually a secret and it doesn't even matter.

The problem with an uninteresting character goes beyond the MC. It's not entirely due to the characters themselves, as the plot and pacing tends to breeze by events and moments that could instill character development. And stakes. Golly gee, the characters treat the stakes with minimal care, which subsequently just leave the conflict feeling so benign and unengaging. An example: the MC was given a test on behalf of another character he cared about that put her life on the line. None of the characters treated it as important including the character whose life was at stake, and the MC anticlimactically completed the test in a totally unimpressive way that defeated the purpose of the test.

Outside of plot and characters, the animation and music aren't things I'm going to complain about but they aren't great either.

We'll go straight to the points (without mentioning its animations because I already anticipated it): What's good? + Jiron (he's carrying the entire series really hard) + Tensura wannabe (?) + Generic isekai story, but still interesting What's bad? - bad CGI - brightness- colour composition & details, especially some of their outline that hurt my eyes

- lots of boring scenes that made me sped up to 1.25x

As a crappy Isekai anime watcher, I'm still intrigued for a 2nd season if existing since they haven't dug up enough Ike's story before death and Romberg. However, this needs a slight studio upgrade.

Overall, this anime is recommended only for anime fans with low standards.

This show is another generic fantasy with nothing more than that. Humans and demons fight against each other, but why? The show doesn’t bother to explain. In fact, basically everything that happens in this show has no reason to happen. We follow the MC who is once again a nice guy who can never be mean to anybody ever. Definitely a solid choice for a guy who’s supposed to be commanding a demon army. As events unfold around him, you, the viewer, have no reason to care about anything because nothing has any weight and zero world building is established. On top of being a failurethrough a storytelling perspective, the other elements of this show are just as horrible and boring. The visuals are godawful CGI vomit to look at so no point in watching for the cool magic battles or any of that appeal. Dialogue is slow and is perfectly described as “stock standard”, so no point in watching for how the characters interact with each other. While the music is decent in some parts, anybody who’s ever watched a show will tell you that audio is most impactful when complimented with good visuals or dramatic writing. This show has none so the audio falls flat despite being good on it’s on merit.

Skip this show. People are somehow giving this show a 5 or 6 and I totally disagree. While you can enjoy mediocre shows, and I do myself, there is no point in watching something as dumb and boring as this. Hard pass, 2-3/10.

The Strongest Magician in the Demon Lord's Army Was a Human - A demon-parading human wants to be like Tensei Slime's Rimuru to bring demons and humans together? That's quite the ambitious approach that's a long way to realisation. Ask just anyone around if fantasy, like Isekai, has gotten stale no matter how many AniManga works we've received, especially over recent years with a copy-paste rhetoric that has a premise that, despite being generic, is "unique" to the point of creating a story for it. And that's exactly what we get with novelist Ryousuke Hata's Maougun Saikyou no Majutsushi wa Ningen datta a.k.a The Strongest Magicianin the Demon Lord's Army Was a Human, whose premise/plot you should be able to capture the nuance by its very descriptive title alone.

"Kids, I'm about to tell you a bedtime story, about how a human can disguise his way to becoming part of demons. The TL;DR - just be a person strong in any attribute that's worthy of supporting the race you're fighting for and have a goal in mind to accomplish what you want to be in the organization."

Like seriously, the aforementioned human that is simply called Ike, he may be a human whom, in the uncommon case of a kind demon taking after to adopt and teach him magic skills, to which he's grown and now supported by a fellow demon sorceress, he's just someone being built different for his course of events: be a leading figure in the Demon army, hide his secret as much as possible even if the few will by chance know of his humanly demeanour, and keep the status quo pretty much for as long as he shall. But being a human, Ike has ambitions, like bringing both the human and demon race together to co-exist as one entity together, but this ambition is beset by the "needless" war between both races to determine who's superior, because demons are that egoistical to begin with. Alas, that's just really all that Ike's going for, because he seeks harmony with no matrimony for the surroundings, just being a plain average Joe who fights for the sake of the matter. He's a Lawful Good and Evil on that regard.

The supporting cast are just as hilarious in their own terms. The demon head honcho that is Dairokuten, exudes demonic and Chaotic Evil, but she comes off as being a Lawful or Neutral Evil due to her teenager-like stance that all she's just good for is being a spokesperson so that she can command Ike on what to do in her regard. Quite a lazy leader, if you ask me. Except for the maid Satie for whom she comes off as a Chaotic Good, the others are just a total misfire, just as is the setting and world-building, which are egregiously missing. But then again, this is a rather simple story plot, so the goal is pretty much what you see going with the 3-episode rule set in mind for this show, which is about the perfect "just one more episode" duration you could give to experience all that it is, because it's barebones as heck and hell to then and back.

Basically put, this is a show that has no care given to it, that screams of the people behind this just wanting to finish and be done with so they can wash their hands off of a failing project and move onto the next. Given Studio A-CAT's standards, expect nothing but the worst in both 2D and especially the studio's "signature" 3DCG production (which is actually worse than last season's Highspeed Etoile in all regards), and the music, despite being composed by famed composer Kohta Yamamoto, his talent is wasted and washed dry from the ashes of this anime, from the OST, and even right down to the OP and ED itself sounding like inferior versions of Attack on Titan's OST, if made demonic to begin with.

Like some others, I always say: there is good within the bad, but this show proved that assumption completely wrong, because there's just nothing redeemable about this anime, nor even its original source work, which was goodness-graciously not overstretched by the imagination of its estranged author thinking that he could be "inspired" to write as much as possible out of complete genericness for a retarded execution.

Sorry to break your bones, but this anime is just barely watchable. Skip this show, you're really not missing much.

The writers for the original season of Power Rangers (1993) called and they want their dialogue back. Action scenes are few and far between, bland and dear goddess how can they talk so much during a battle? Like how is that even possible? In addition to lackluster dialogue and action scenes the costume design is also... not fit for a high definition screen. They lack so much detail that you might as well be watching this on VHS. Of all the components of this show perhaps the most heroic efforts to save it are in the music, whichsometimes is so good compared to the (lack of) drama that it can feel a little embarrassing to watch.

The Strongest Magician in the Demon Lord's Army Was a Human , well the name already tell you a lot. A little bit about story. We meet our MC Ike who is a human that works for demons not only that he act like a demon too and its a secret that he is actually a human. He is a in 7th corps under command of Cefiro. We learn about he’s background how he became a 'demon'. Not only that this anime is an isekai so our Ike is i, Reincarnated from earth to fantasy world. Its not the most important part of the storyand actually its not get mention a lot expect some moments when Ike uses ideas or instruments from our world. He's main goal is to make peace between demons and humans and we see how he try to make demons and humans live together.

So why I dont like it? This anime is mostly about Tactics Ike plans and uses and most of them is not working. Most of them are stupid or very basic for an anime that rely on them. Mostly we see Ike in battles for cities and how he attacks or protects them. Its actually a good idea to make an anime about it and it can be interesting. But its must done wrong. Most of his plans work because of the plot and not because they are good. Not only that story sometimes gets away from the main theme and we have stupid episodes that we don’t even need.

About characters its actually 50/50 for me. The cast is not bad but not enough to make this anime decent. Ike is not the worst MC. He has he’s good moments and he is pretty smart. Understand how he needs to act and good at magic. But in the same time he is not that interesting he is just there. In the other hand Cefiro and the demon lord are pretty interesting characters but we dont see them too much. Cefiro is Ike’s mentor a very powerful demon and commander. Sadly we didn’t see her enough, same with Demon Lord, interesting character but they didn’t shown her personality to us. The last people Im gonna talk about is comedic characters which are Satie, Lilith and Jiron. Expect of Lilith we dont need them for story but they are pretty enjoyable. Satie is mostly needed to shown human side of Ike that he cannot shown to others. And its kind of enjoyable to watch three of them fight for Ike’s attention.

Basically not the worst cast for an fantasy anime. But I think the humans can be done better. In the end demons fights with humans and that side was pretty boring so the battles did lack at character expect too.

Animation was bad. I dont like overuse of 3D and I dont like it its just annoying to me.

Overall, its an bad to mediocre fantasy/isekai. Not enough powerful moments to call it good. Its lack tactics and interesting battles, more interesting MC and better world building

"he Strongest Magician in the Demon Lord's Army Was a Human" is one of those animes that come every season with the typical overly powerful protagonist without much of a personality except for being capable, humble and noble (so that the viewer may self-insert), where women seem to gravitate towards and fight for his attention but he's oblivious and every time someone makes an advance it is interrupted. A dumb relief character, fantasy elements (magic, demi-humans...), and one-dimensional villains can't be missed either. The story is simple, we follow a human working for the demon lord (who is a young looking girl who seems to havea slight crush on him, just like every other girl) who is on a war campaign to unite the races. Along the way there will be rivalries, alliances, many fights (poorly animated, with lots of still images and ugly-looking 3D animation), drama with fanservice sprinkled in between and lots of irrelevant episodic plots that you can easily predict the outcome of.

There isn't much I can say in favor of this anime, the fanservice was pretty tame in comparison with what's out there, the characters where hollow and without development but mostly likeable, and the world-building was lacking but what I got to see was interesting. The story was engaging enough for me to finish 12 episodes but I don't think I could withstand another season of this generic slop.

Episodes 1-4 earn a place on the Watchlist with decent animation and an, albeit generic, solid standard fantasy anime story. Episode 5 removes it from your Watchlist on its own by bringing the combat animation and tactical execution of important scenes to ruin, displaying an unwillingness to invest the necessary funds to follow-through on the goodness (not greatness) that was episodes 1-4. Episode 5 was sufficient to convince me not to watch further. It is UNHEARD OF, not just rare or super rare, UNHEARD OF, for an anime on Crunchy with a review of 4.8+ (at the time) to air such an abomination. It almost immediatelydropped to a 4.3 which is nigh-unwatchable via Crunchyroll rating standards. Based on this one episode.

What did the author do to the studio in order for them to absolutely butcher his work like that? They dropped multiple CGI nukes. It was carnage for the viewers eyes. I've seen plenty of horrible animations across the years. But it's gonna take a literal slideshow with no frames to defeat this one. It's all CGI of the worst magnitude. In like 90% of the frames. But there's no point in ripping in the obvious flaw of the animation. Because i took a little time to search this show's manga out of pure curiosity. And i found out, IT"S SUPPOSED TO BE AN ISEKAI. Like theyskipped this entirely at the start of the show. SO it wasn't a hit on the author. It was the isekai treatment. Also, the pig was supposed to be a thinner ORC. Honestly the manga is also meh in drawing quality. The only reason im not giving it less is because the story is honestly half-decent . It's nothing special or new, but it's good enough to draw you in.

So yeah... if you really ,i mean REALLY wanna pass the time i guess you could watch this, or read the manga? Im not sure how many more changes happend though.

This series gives me the impression that either the studio turning it into animation made it worse than the source material, or they absolutely manage to turn something very lacking into something actually decent. You can feel that there is some potential that was completely missed with this one. If I were to guess I would say the writer was a little bit too inexperience to write the story out in a way where it would actually be good. I want to believe there was pieces for a good series somewhere in here. Hopefully we'll see more interesting ideas and stories like this in future. What comesto technical stuff, the animation etc. were average, did not strike as anything amazing. I might finish the series at some point if I get bored, but for now it's on dropped list.

This should be renamed "The demon army's strongest mage is a modern day human pacifistic dumba*s". That about sums up why this sucks so much. Basically, we have this idiot that pretends to be cool and wants humans and demons to get along, despite from what I understand it never actually interacting much with humans in the first place as he was raised by a demon (this is shown from the start, not a spoiler). He is shown as being collected and "smart" but honestly, his tactics suck and he, despite where he was raised and despite the humans clearly being more evil than the demons in thiscase, refuses to kill. Not even the most despicable enemy will be killed, when he corners them he simply lets them go, even going so far as to stopping someone who had his people killed and pretty much enslaved because of him from killing the dude. Then when that particular character says he'll regret being a little justice hero p*ssy (slightly modified from the original), he just says nah, who cares, I'll be stronger later. Traitors who literally stab him in the back are also not killed, at most he'll run and tattle to the demon king after confronting them.

Like, what the hell.

Every single other character isn't much better as all of them exist simply to praise him or for the author to try making the protagonist look cool in some way. The demon king has zero personality, the rest have such a one dimensional personality that it's difficult to believe they actually exist in 2D.

Why would they even bother to animate trash like this? Do some people actually go "Damn, I wish I could experience more fake bullsh*t political correctness and self-insert as a bland pacifist justice wannabe teaching those savages in other worlds that killing is wrong even when said people kill dozens, hundreds or even more and do all kinds of vile acts with no law/force to properly govern them."

If you told me this dude is actually a generic shounen protagonist from modern day japan who goes "LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP IS POWER" in his spare time and just happened to get isekai trucked while crossing the road, I'd believe you. This dude just doesn't belong in a medieval-type place with wars and conflict everywhere and to place him there is almost offensive, at least in his position. This dude leads a part of the demon army at the forefront of the war, it's not like he's a random farmer or commoner just minding their own business out of everyone's sight and wishing world peace for their own and others safety. This dude decided that despite seeing all this crap and having grand goals of co-existence, he refuses to sacrifice anyone nor kill anyone and he doesn't even want to allow his subordinates to kill, risking their lives unnecessarily too.

If he at least killed people in defense but not civilians or people he attacks, I'd respect him a bit more, that'd at least be a better stance to have for world peace. No mercy for those who would massacre his underlings, but mercy for the innocent.

Quite a good anime, lots of action, interesting battle scenes, beautiful drawing, pleasant music. I didn't understand one thing, where is the isekai here, if this is just fantasy, it's not about the reincarnated main Nero, but simply about a strong mage-commander. But in essence it's like Overlord or Tensai Ouji no Akaji Kokka Saisei Jutsu, fantasy about the strategy of managing a "city/state" and the strategy of war, with accompanying forays for reconnaissance and solving internal problems. I treat it as a diary, which contains records of the great feats of the main character, and most likely this is so. The heroes here are well-written, they are interesting. Ilike the goals of the main character in many ways. At a certain point, you stop distinguishing demons from people (I saw this in some reviews as a minus), which in my opinion is good, because this is exactly what this anime is trying to show.

I wasn't bored, overall the anime left a pleasant impression.

What I lacked was a challenge, the hero gets everything too easily. The demon world is not very well written, as is the human world, a little more depth and detail would not hurt.

I put the opening and ending in the playlist. Listen, it sounds very nice to match this anime.
