Reviews for One Piece: A Very Special Feature! Momonosuke's Road to Becoming a Great Shogun
Back to AnimeTypically, I wouldn't fault One Piece for including recaps. I've watched all 11 recaps of the Wano arc. This particular recap had the potential to dive into Momonosuke's ascent and his development throughout the entire saga. However, TOEI opted to concentrate solely on the last 10 episodes, specifically on what happens after the final act of the battle between Luffy and Kaido. Moreover, their focus was exclusively on Momonosuke and Wano, overlooking events occurring outside the country. Consequently, almost nothing needed to be recapped, hence this special served no meaningful purpose. I highly suggest you skip this as it adds nothing.
And end of an era. It feels so wrong to see Wano finally ending, after almost 5 years of serialization, there are people who went from highschool to college graduations during that time, the world has changed massively that it feels so weird to chart the passage of time by Anime release schedules. In recap episode, the 11-th Wano recap, we pay goodbye to Wano and its resident through the lense of Momonosuke, the once annoying child crybaby to the manly, still, annoying crybaby as he parts ways with the straw hats. Showing scenes of him gathering courage to unit Wano after Kaido and Orochi’s fall,to defending Wano from Greenbull’s infiltrating.
At least for me, the content of the recap wasn’t interesting or engaging enough for me to care too much for it, it feels like we’ve gotten dozen recaps of similar mediocre quality over the run.
