My New Boss Is Goofy. What a unique title. With that, I chose to give the show a watch out of curiosity. I'm glad I did. The show is based around the lives of Kentaro Momose, who has quit his old job working under a powerdrunk and abusive boss and his new boss, Yusei Shirosaki. Momose starts working under Shirosaki and at first is worried about possibly getting on the bad side of his new boss. It soon turns out, however, that Shirosaki is nothing like Momose's old boss and is a kind-hearted, yet extremely goofy guy and the two strike up an immediate friendship.The two are joined by their friendly, yet quirky and attention-starved section chief, Mitsuo Aoyama and new employee who jumped ship after talking to Momose regarding his own abusive boss, the extroverted bisexual Aigo Kinjou. Along with the four human members of the cast, we also have a little white kitten who Shirosaki names Hakutou after finding him abandoned. Hakutou's internal dialogue reveals him to be a tsundere to the highest degree, which only serves to make the little guy cuter.

What we have from there is a 12 episode slice of life anime with next to no drama in spite of the set-up. While Momose's old boss is mentioned quite frequently and shows up a couple of times, there is next to no conflict in the show. There's certainly none among the main characters and even though Aoyama can get a little bit much at times with his neediness, what we get is a fun, charming, relaxing and honestly healing workplace slice of life comedy mostly based around the extremely close friendship of Momose and Shirosaki, their cat and their colleagues. All of the characters have their own charm. All of their dynamics work and even Hakutou add to the plot and are a draw.

The animation is perfectly fine, the soundtrack works for what it is, but neither are really the focal point of the show. There's certainly nothing bad enough to detract from the overall quality of the show, the animation and art style suit the show perfectly and the background music, opening and closing themes do their job and again add to the charm of the show.

My New Boss Is Goofy isn't an action-oriented anime. It's not particularly plot-driven either. The central charm is the characters and the goings-on in their lives in any given episode. Whether it's Shirosaki and Momose finding Hakutou and Shirosaki being the best cat dad he can be, Shirosaki and Momose visiting Shirosaki's grandmother and Momose meeting Shirosaki's older brother, Momose and Kinjou hanging out bonding over past relationships or even Hakutou trying to find Shirosaki's lost shirt button as a thank you to Shirosaki for loving him from the second he adopted him, plots are very character driven which is helped by the fact every single one of our central characters is likeable and has their own quirks. The show doesn't try reinventing the wheel, and it doesn't have to or need to.

As you can tell from my review, I really enjoyed the show. There are heavy BL overtones that the show never follows through with, which may disappoint some people, but given the charm of the shows and the warmth of everything, it's not something which detracts from the show too much. Some may even find the fact it's simply a show about two extremely close guy friends, their friends and their cat with no romance *more* of a draw. All you have is a purely wholesome, warm, pleasant, soul-healing slice of life anime you can just sit down, watch, whether as a marathon or an episode at a time and feel good after watching. My New Boss Is Goofy may never get the acclaim of say, Vinland Saga season 2, and it certainly doesn't aim to be the epic that is. But as an entertaining, feel-good anime, it does its job perfectly and is my favourite anime of this current season. Do yourself a favour and check it out.

This season's escapist slice-of-life is the office version of Cool Doji Danshi. Momose leaves his old job due to health problems from dealing with an abusive boss. In a generous stroke of healing, he gets a new boss who is sweet, wholesome, and socially clumsy in the cutest, softest ways. Shirosaki seems like a character who would've appeared in Cool Doji Danshi, but grown up—he's a full adult in his 30s with a manager position. He also has his own manager who he reports to, so he isn't the company's overall boss. Since he had good experiences with his manager as a new employee, he nowstrives to do the same for Momose. It's a similar dynamic as Hirano and Kagiura actually, minus an actual BL label.

At first I thought the anime would shove the characters' straightness down viewers' throats and emphasize this is a Straight Office Man comedy. Instead, the series shows off Shirosaki's softness and doesn't shy away from characters blushing in cute interactions. They don't actually flirt, and I def don't see them going a romantic route, but an amusement park date disguised as work is still an amusement park date.

I recommend this anime if you want a wholesome, feel-good slice-of-life about two office workers who make each other happy. ^^

Art/Animation - 8/10: Solid, smooth animation. Indicative of a good-quality animation studio. Drawing style is cute. Sound/Audio - 7/10: Not many OSTs throughout the episodes. OK opening and ending themes. Characters - 8/10: Love how each character has their distinct backstories and personalities. Story - 7/10: Not much plot to it. It's one of those simple, funny, slice-of-life shows. Each episode can be a stand-alone, but definitely makes more sense when you watch the whole series together. Overall, I recommend this show to anyone who wants something light-hearted to watch while eating or before going to sleep, but this would be too slow for people whoaren't looking for that.

there is no heterosexual explanation for this, i- This is a really good comfort show, and there were no misses in any episode. I feel like towards the end it did lean in to the romantic interest, even though it isn't explicitly BL, like it's the gayest shit ever (good shit at that). Like I would not even call this Fujioshi bait because it's so blatant. It's the definition of "and they were roommates". While it's true this didn't have much animation and felt like slideshow story boards, the VAs really put their entire vussy into this and brought the characters to life. The story isjust very heart-warming and it can be a bit wishy-washy but that's what this entire genre is about, so who cares. It's very comforting and I'm glad I discovered the Cute Guys Doing Cute Things genre. We need more of those and falling down this rabbithole has been really fun.

But yeah, this shit gay af, specially towards the end. But that's the campy part of this show because it's a constant "there's just no way this isn't BL" , like they were so unserious and REAL for that I have not choice but to call this show iconic. its COMPLETELY for the girlies and people that want cuteness without the problematic infantilization you normally see in anime. it's dumb harmless fun.

If you like cat, cute boys, and wholesome storyline this anime is for you! Me my self Love it! I've been watching 3 episode so far and it makes me giggle. But the third episode is trully a masterpiece! It makes me cry, not a cry of sadness but cry of fluffyness. I really like the show so far, the only thing thats off for me is the animation. Animation 7/10 It's standard and i like the soft colouring, but again its standards nothing really special or something, but the artstyle really tells that its a wholesome anime. Soundtrack 9/10 Its nice, the momentum is Appropriate too. Upper mystandards and i like the soundtrack. The opening and ending is also wholesome, and i like it too. Not really into audio/tracks so i can't really talk bout it that much.

Storyline 10/10

Its fluffy, its wholesome and i feel related to the characters. They introduced it greatly so we can understand each character. I feel deeply related with the characters, i don't know is it because of the storyline or their mental health really suites me.

I like the story, i like the artstyle, and i think thats enough for me. The third episode inspire me a lot since i also have a cat. Overall a nice anime to watch when you have free time to relax and chill. Also nice for a cat lovers <3

I highly recommend this anime for those looking for something on the heartwarming/lighthearted side of anime. The genre of is Iyashikei, which is supposed to give a relaxing and "healing" feeling for the audience. This anime definitely achieves that. The plot is simple, office workers becoming friends. It does not move mountains in terms of story and plot, but its soo adorable and silly that you can't help but smile and laugh while watching. As I get older, I feel like I'm in need for more calming anime with adult characters. This achieves that. There is some serious topics such as PTSD and recoveringfrom trauma. Which I think the anime does a pretty good job at displaying what trauma can look like for someone. But it shows how the characters begin to heal from the trauma.

The last thing I'll say is that while the anime is not a BL, it does have some "bromance" themes. Highly recommended to those who enjoy BL.

This anime is lowkey BL and I’m living for it. I don’t really like the MC because he comes off as a simp for his new boss, and dramatic all the time. He gets nervous over every little thing, which triggers his ulcer. Suffering major PTSD from his last job. I like how the manager is clueless and clumsy which brings comedy to the show. He definitely cares for his employees which is nice to see. So hilarious that he can’t spin in his chair correctly. 😂 The animation is average; what you’d expect from this type of show. It has a Shojo feel to itwith the sparkly backgrounds and flowers which I enjoy.

I love BL and there hasn’t really been any in awhile, so if you like something wholesome and cute, I would give the show a shot!

It's time to write my opinion about Atarashii Joushi wa Do Tennen hehe! :) Starting this series I kind of had a hard time getting into it, after episode 3 it kind of started to grow on me and it became more fun to watch! It's a very relaxing and funny anime which I've missed watching since I normally watch either romance or fantasy. The comedy and goofiness in this anime is top notch as well as the relationships and bonding of the characters. It's honestly a very heartwarming anime and I recommend it to everyone who's into slight of life/comedy, or even just for fun!((Hakutou is hella adorable and love his sarcasm so thats an even better plus point.))

So yes, if you'd like to sit back and relax while laughing then this anime is for sure something for you! <3

Out of all the anime to air in the Fall 2023 season, My New Boss is Goofy completely flew under the radar. This anime follows Kentarou Momose, a new hire at an advertising company after quitting his last job due to an abusive boss. Kentarou’s new manager is Yuusei Shirosaki, someone who almost immediately puts the former’s anxieties at ease. I actually like the character background behind these two and how it’s utilized for the sake of the series as Momose’s traumatic experiences at his old job still haunt him from time to time, but Shirosaki is able to bring some comfort to his newsubordinate in a way that helps them form a strong bond with one another. The comedy and banter between these two helps build the very at-ease and chill vibes that this show gives off. However what makes this show work so well are how all of the character’s lives are fleshed out. Given that this is a slice of life, we follow the characters throughout many different episodic adventures, from meeting family members again to having wholesome interactions with the clients they work with, the menial everyday jobs that the two main characters do are given some form of vibrancy through how all of these directly impact them. Throughout the season, we are given great depth to both Momose and Shirosaki, especially when it comes to stuff like their motivations for taking up certain jobs and whatnot. Hell, even the side characters get a lot of breathing room to shine. Characters like Hakutou, who is literally a cat, gets a couple of episodes for characterization and I legit actually felt bad for him when learning about all of the emotional neglect he went through with his previous owner. Mitsuo Aoyama and Aigo Kinjou are some secondary characters in this anime and they are also given ample screentime to flesh out their background and try and build a fun dynamic with the main two characters.

This is what a slice of life anime should be: flesh out characters and give them depth through their everyday tasks. This not only makes us care about the characters, but the menial stuff that they do in their lives are also made interesting. The show made me care about Kentarou’s ad becoming a success or him finding a new place to live. The anime made me care about Shirosaki trying to be a caring person who looks out for others, whether that be for Momose, Hakutou, or literally anyone else he works with, and fit what the title of this series is, he is indeed goofy. I will say that the only downside to this anime is the fact that it can feel very repetitive at times, since there are many moments where Shirosaki is being clumsy, but I think how it’s implemented works for the most part. I honestly don’t mind it since the show isn’t making fun of him for screwing up since both Kentarou and Yuusei himself find it amusing and fun when stuff like this happens. The Iyashikei elements of this anime work since they provide both Momose and us viewers light-hearted and wholesome banter that can help us escape and even recover from the trauma and hardships that one has been through. My New Boss is Goofy is good soul food for those who are tired and stressed out from all of the tedious tasks of the real world. This show is fun, relaxing, and wholesome with a relatable and likable cast of comfort characters. If you’re looking for a lo-fi and chill anime, then this might just be for you.

This is a simple Slice of Life anime. Plot Our MC works in a really bad company, where the manager abuses our MC to the extreme. Now, he changes to a new company and this is where we meet the rest of our cast. Our MC's new manager is clumsy and that leads to a lot of cute and funny moments. He is also really nice and makes our MC feel comfortable. This will be the start of the journey where our MC slowly heals his past trauma and starts finding happiness in his career again. Characters As expected in a SoL, all characters are super nice. Learningabout these characters is part of the journey, so i will avoid spoiling their characters. But rest assured that all of them are different, and are lovely in their own way.

This story is full of fluffy heart-warming moments, as well as cutesy humor. The colors and art are especially relaxing. There is no drama, except the MC's past trauma being reminded to us repeatedly. If you want something that is truly relaxing without any overarching plot, then i would recommend this series. I almost always feel better after watching an episode.

Its a 10 out of 10 ! Loved EVERYTHING ! Story is sad, but we have someone that do his best to work, that is still stressed by his old job and mostly his previous boss, and got a new kind and loveable one.. (small spoiler : Ddidn't expected that the cat would have a VA) buit i was in love with running gag of aoyama (mostly the last episode that make me laugh out very loud ! Relationship between our main characters was very beautifull and if i would say something bad, is the fact that we didn't end with more Yaoi,because the anime has a VERY BIG vibe of yaoi (mostly the 3 last episodes), but there no Yaoi tag, so it couldn't happens, but its the only part that i criticise but that i a way, i can't because, like i said "no tag".

Cute story with loveable characters, all of them with their own personalities and quirks. Funny interactions and moments than can make you laugh out loud. Mayor green flag energy from all the main cast. Talks about leaving and abusive job and moving to a new one with a totally different boss, and working to get over your trauma in this new environment with your unintentionally funny new boss. The comedy never fails but it doesn't make the dramatic and serious scenes less important or interesting. The anime is not about these huge and embarassing moments in life, but about small , everyday mistakes that makeit relatable. Even when working in an office, the show neves slows down or becomes boring.

It motivates me I want 2nd season of this anime i looooooooooooove it . This show isn't some big thing with complex characters and incredible well-written plot points—because that's not the point of this series, and I feel like that's one thing people in the community generally never seem to get. Some things are not meant to be a thought-provoking adventure. If you want something super exciting, this anime won't be for you. Yes, this is mostly a simple but generally wholesome story. The point of the anime is that the viewer has something cozy to watch without having to think too much of what's going in it. You could even call this a cheer-up anime. The characters andscenes are set up to make the viewer think, "That's cute!". Nothing more, nothing less. It does a really great job at that in my opinion. I mostly watched this when I needed something to pick my mood up and it did.

I think it's okay to acknowledge this anime might not be for you, if you know you like complex writing more or want more depth to the characters. To review this anime on the same scale you would review anime like Frieren or Gintama, however, is not a great choice, in my opinion. They serve a different purpose than this one, after all, so you can't base your main review points of it being, "too simple", when it's supposed to be like that. You can say you didn't like the simplicity and move on, but condemning it for its purpose is a bit wack.

So, to sum it up, if you want something simple but wholesome, then Atarashii Joushi wa Do Tennen is for you.

This is a story about four colleagues turned friends who are refreshingly open about their feelings and who do their best to make each other feel comfortable, valued, and happy. It's not soppy, though, it's absolutley hilarious! Besides one running gag that might become a bit old, the humour is on point, resulting in a dopamine inducing mix of cuteness, wholesomeness, and hilarity. The anime is also surprisingly progressive (one of the guys is openly bisexual) and sends an important message about growing as a person and finding happiness in life. In case you start watching and don't like the cat: Neither did I (atfirst), and I still enjoyed myself immensely, so please don't let that bother you.

Honestly, I'm not a fan of iyashikei anime, but this really surprised me with how much I liked it! Every character is endearing and likeable and you really just want to see everyone happy together. Honestly, the first two episodes were a bit lackluster and even a little slow but the third really picked the series up and it all flowed nicely from there. The anime is easily binge-able and the art style fits perfectly with the characters, the chibi art style they bring in made it even better. It was surprising to see how relatable the characters were, including Yuusei himself! Even the namelesscharacters bring charm into the story that makes it hard to forget them. It's extremely easy to fall in love with every character here and when you finish it, you'll be wanting to be in a workplace just like this one!

If you're thinking this anime might be interesting, you should check it out, you won't be disappointed.

I really don't like slice of life anime for certain reasons i'm more of a battle shounen guy, but this show really pleased me... STORY: the story is not special it is not something like Monster or AOT. simple but enjoyable is a term I use for the story of this show. the characters are one dimensional but they are funny but in the last two or three episodes I could predict what joke we gonna see or I could predict what a certain character wants to say. but with all said I think the author did a good job of giving a backstory toall main characters including the cat LOL! some of them were pretty sad especially the ones about Momose and Aoyama.

Sound: tbh I didn't like the OST of the show I know it gets the job done and is not a big deal for some people but it is for me. I want to be able to recognise a shows soundtrack even when I hear it out of nowhere. VAs did a good job voicing their characters. and the opening and ending were decent nothing special yet not a garbage.

visuals: A-1 pictures are a great studio they did 86, Mashle, Nier, and some project with FATE series so I had high hopes about the visuals. I think they did a good job animating this show it was not god-tier animation but it is good in this genre.

one thing that I like about this show is actually the dynamic of the characters. every duo has a unique chemistry and they have funny and emotional moments together.

The show had some yaoi vibes for me. I didn't have a problem with it but maybe for some it is so you have to keep it in mind.

as a whole I enjoyed this show I binged through all twelve episodes and loved the experience so give it a shot if you need something just for fun and comedy.

How Can My New Boss Be So Cute! Very enjoyable anime, the two main characters are wonderful and I also love Kinjou even if the chief can get a little repetitive with the self-pity. Momose is starting his new job and is feeling anxious about his new manager after having left his previous job due to a high level of harassment from his old boss, his new boss Shirosaki could not be any further from his old boss being a silly little delight of a man, caring, attentive and kind-hearted they bond quickly and slowly start to heal Momose from his work traumas. These two fellas 100%should have kissed IMO, we do get a mention of Kinjou having an ex-boyfriend as well as ex-girlfriends so it's not as if there was zero consideration to men loving men relationships in the show but it's honestly not a big flaw either way, I'm sure some people will prefer that it stays a story about friendship and healing at work and it does a great job at it!

Solid 9 out of 10 for me, funny, heart-warming, with 4 great characters we really enjoy getting to know over the episodes. Personally dock maybe a sliver of a point for not following through on the BL angle that there are very strong overtones for but we take what we can get, great show :)

Overall - 8/10 - A decent slice of life series; feels like it falls under comedy as a secondary genre. Character personalities a bit wacky but alright when not taken seriously. Recommended for people who like slice of life; may be a bit boring for others. Art - 9/10 - no complaints; clean, reasonably detailed, smooth animation, good facial expressions, etc. Story - 7/10 Generally a decent slice of life plot, has plenty of cute moments, which felt like the major draw. Personally found the comedy to be a bit hit or miss; some jokes/behaviors felt a bit overused for me (or simply not funny, which isfine - not all the jokes will be a hit with everyone).

Some behaviors/tropes/dynamics seem to be borrowed from BL, which could be alright, though I found some of these aspects clash with what I'm looking for in a slice of life series (i.e. looking for something mostly relaxed and light-hearted, not trying to build drama and suspense), though did not end up being a particularly major issue in the end.

That aside, I kind of felt like the relationship between the main two characters could have benefited from a greater sense of solidity or development.

Major Characters

- Momose - 8/10 - decent MC, some viewers may find the repeated use of health issues as a plot device to be irritating, though I personally found his approach to communication (or lack thereof) to be more annoying.

- Shirosaki - 9/10 - good deuteragonist, likeable character, charmingly airheaded, good source of conflict resolution, humor, and plot development. My favorite character.

- Aoyama - 7/10 - serves his purpose as a supporting character, kind of annoyed me in the second half of the series, his quirk can be funny but I felt it was used too often (or otherwise needed better setup or something).

- Kinjou - 6/10 - I think I would have liked him more if there was greater separation between his story and that of Momose/Shirosaki; his personality felt like it could be fine on its own, but it created an odd rivalry dynamic which I found quite unpleasant. Honestly, for me, it felt like he got in the way of the story - which is a pity, since I think his dynamic with Aoyama *could* have been interesting.

My New Boss Is Goofy is one of the few pure slice of life shows airing this Fall, and it's pretty good. Like most slice of life anime, the plot isn't too complex, just some dude (Momose) who has had a bad experience at his last office job because his boss was a dick to him, so he gets a new job at another office and his new boss (Shirosaki) is a very nice but clumsy man who does a bunch of tiny little mistakes that makes him embarrassed, in other words, Momose's new boss is goofy. This show is very similar to Cool Doji Danshi, themain cast consists of four dudes, they're both yaoi bait, and they both even have the little awkwardness between the characters every now and again. Despsite that, My New Boss Is Goofy has it's own personality.

My only complaint is that Momose is kind of boring as the main lead, out of the 4 he's just not as interesting to watch. Which I guess makes sense, since Momose is meant to be the average office worker.

All in all if you like watching lighthearted slice of life anime, I suggest watching My New Boss Is Goofy
