The Sailor Moon reboot has been a decade-long bumpy ride. From an uninspired start with Sailor Moon Crystal Seasons 1-2, where the adaptation actually tarnished the source material by omitting most humane interactions of its cast and opting for an endless amount of ugly looking melodrama, to an amazing improvement on Season 3, which felt like watching an anime again and more often than not updated certain elements of the manga, to Sailor Moon Eternal that, as confusingly condensed as it was at times, brought back some charm and wit, to Sailor Moon Cosmos, which is by far the best addition to this incarnation ofthe franchise.

The Stars arc is a trendsetter for a lot of existential themes found in shoujo anime. Its symbolism, lore and overall message are by far some of my favorite in japanese animation. The two movies managed to explain several intricate/questionable points and visualized them properly by adding flashbacks/visions. There's not much left unexplained. Some ambiguity remains, but personally, this is why this arc works (weeell, except for the existence of a specific character that requires some mental gymnastics, ifykyk).

Despite the tightly-knit plot, each character feels true to their persona and their interactions completely make each of them shine. Taiki and Yaten are actually likable, who would have thought!

The movie format actually worked rather well here. It reinforces the high stakes and the shock value of the arc. With just three more minutes of screen time, some transitions between scenes would be less abrupt, but I truly think the team did absolutely everything they could to make all the time restrictions cast upon them work.

Director Tomoya Takahashi proved just how important good direction is. He uses flashy transitions, the camera work is eventful, the characters actually move and there's so much amazing lightwork. Actions scenes have energy and emotional scenes actually carry some weight. There were more than a few tears shed.

Even the music is more inspired and enriched despite being composed by the the same composer from previous seasons (Yasuharu Takanashi). The themes of Galaxia, Kakyuu and Cosmos are definitive highlights.

These movies contain the highest highs of the reboot animation-wise. There's much more movement and a somewhat consistent quality all the way through the films. The stock footage, even though it can feel redundant to some, not only is it really beautiful 90% of the time, but has amazing references from the 90s anime (I love nostalgia bait what can I say) and saves some money for the most pivotal scenes, which look absolutely amazing imo. The line-work and the colors are lively and impactful depending on the mood of each scene. I counted like fifteen (?) instances/seconds of wonky animation out of a 160 minute project. If Crystal had started out like this, I wouldn't even mention these moments because there is no such thing as perfection, especially in a Toei production.

Sailor Moon Cosmos was triumphant at what it set out to do, which is a faithful 1:1 adaptation of the manga. For the most part, it managed to embody and successfully decipher the manga arc (even improve upon it in certain ways). I really wish this had been the team working on the reboot from day 1. But I guess it wouldn't be a Sailor Moon project without a few "what if"'s.

As far as I am aware that this is how Sailor Moon usually is, I still have a tremendous amount of love for this franchise. I love the 90s series and the original Sailor Moon for me will always be that one, I gotta say that for sure. The whole new adaptation, Crystal, was kind of refreshing, it was like following my favorite childhood series all over again but I gotta be honest about how disappointed I was with the first season. After that, they kind of made it enjoyable with season 3 and even made a satisfying film with Eternal for me but Igotta say that Cosmos, which I had the most expectations of really disappointed me, especially with part 1.

I don't know if I am the only one but the story was jumping all over the place, the scenes were really incoherent and I had a hard time staying calm. I am aware that this is a movie and they have to make it compact and all but watching this movie felt like reading a whole bunch of drabbles and it's not my cup of tea when it comes to movies.

Look, I am IN LOVE with Seiya. I literally signed up for this whole mess only for Seiya and... anyways. I have some really mixed feelings for this movie, and as far as I am happy that it concluded I am strongly thinking that it could have been better.

Now, I am gonna go and watch the Stars season from the 90s version again just to relive my love for Seiya.

After 9 years, Sailor Moon Crystal is finally over. Comparing the beginning of this reboot to the end is almost like night and day. Sailor Moon Cosmos is the second adaptation of the Sailor Stars arc of the manga. It does a much better job at adapting the original storyline of the manga than the 90s anime (that is VASTLY different than the manga). Where Eternal had some issues in regards to the pacing, these movies were paced a lot better (despite being the same length as Eternal as well). While Stars could have easily been a 13-14 episode season and add a lot ofmore things that weren't in the manga, the additions that are in the movie are sufficient. Instead of feeling like a stripped version of what happened in the manga (like Eternal), many scenes that were in the manga that aren't in the movies were replaced with original content to compensate (part of the ending just to name a part). The visuals are also gorgeous. A lot of time was put into making sure this movie was visually stunning, it looks like an updated version of the 90s anime. In my opinion, these movies are the best that Sailor Moon has ever looked in an animated form. Overall, I think these movies are great, and they do a great job at adapting the mangas ending that was very different in the 90s anime. Most Sailor Moon fans will enjoy these two films a lot.

Although I have rated this as average, the second part is actually a solid 7.1 because the last 15 minutes the pacing finally slows down, and we get to see the most beautiful animation of Sailor Cosmos (thanks largely in part due to Sidney Deng's contribution to some key frames as well as the transformation for Chibi-Chibi). So everyone was right in that the pacing for the films is truly not helping the story develop as it should and it's incredibly difficult to relate to characters when you can't even sit with them. Some cringe scenes occured in part I with no rationale behind them, such as a character I won't name switching from random dialogue to breaking out in song, also too many scenes occur on the same rooftop.

The star lights barely get any screen time, look I am sorry but that was the big appeal about this arc. They also took away the iconic music when they transform which is a shame. There is a bit of strange back and forth between "are these new fighters our enemies" and "omg the star lights have a concert tonight even though we just found out their real personas" fangirl moments in the same scenes and it's incredibly confusing. We also never get any closure whatsoever and it's the film's biggest flaw. It's fine to follow the manga but I don't get why not add a one-liner with an explanation at least. in the original version (sorry, yes I will mention it) we not only spend a lot of time to get a feel of their individual personalities but we also get closure, even though that respective ending was rushed and left the story largely incomplete. I feel as though you'd need to combine them to get any sort of satisfaction.

Ultimately, the animation in Part II is much improved, similarly to how Eternal films behaved. The final 15 minutes are really beautiful and well done, incredible use of colours and composition, the atmosphere is good, deep insight into characters. It was fantastic to see Galaxia and we got time to spend with her (unlike any of the other villains in Crystal) and understand her background and motivation a bit, which really helped with the world building and storytelling.

The OST was lacking yet again, apart from the intro music. Still largely choir music mixed with piano and some metal. I feel like 70% of the 90s atmosphere was the music composed by Takanori Arisawa, and the remainder 30% the voice acting. The original had a much much darker atmosphere and it was a bit frustrating to see this largely lacking yet again. It is a bit too vanilla when the manga clearly depicts various violent events. These were never translated into the Crystal remake. It can be quite bland in parts without this element.

The VA for Cosmos sounded bored, no idea what happened there. Still, I enjoyed the 2nd episode and thought it was the best the remake could do with the budget and attention. Nice closure and ending. It felt authentic.

It's sad we never got to spend some time with any of the girls and Usagi's friends in the remake, there could have been more scenes showing the girls bond and build on their friendship. you can't rush these things and just show character 1 cry over the death of character 2 with no background whatsoever and expect viewers to care.

The best thing the studio could do for Sailor Moon is remake the 90s version and get rid of the filler episodes.

Rewatching Naoko Takeuchi's magnum opus story as a reboot with modern animation and production wasn't wholly a delightful ride, Crystal had it's fair share of bumpy moments, but the Cosmos movies redeemed the whole journey by giving a worthy conclusion to this classic series which it always deserved. This was one of the best arcs from the manga, and Usagi handles it pretty well, she is an amazing protagonist, her charisma, personality and characterstics are very uplifting, and her emotions are very humane, she tries her best but also gets on the verge of giving up when she fails. It really makes her the perfect fitfor the role she's playing.

Also, gotta commend all the VAs for giving out their best of performances, like how Kotono Mitsuishi (VA of Usagi) delivered the same voice she did 30 years ago, is just amazing.

I have been looking forward to the addition of Cosmos for quite some time now and while it did seem a bit bumpy at times I highly recommend giving this a watch at least once. If you perfer the original 90s series of sailor moon you might not like this but however if you are open to change this movie is gorgeous. The music score is gorgeous and really sets the scenes and voice acting was great as well. However dude to it being a movie it did seem a bit rushed and a tad bit confusing at times. While this movie is about the starlight Ifeel we don't actually see much of them at all in this. Which might sound ridiculous but I fear had this been a season instead of a movie it would have had more time to develop the starlight as charaters, as well as giving them thier much needed screen time.

While this definitely could have been done differently, Still loved it none the less.

“We’re all lonely stars searching for companionship. Each and everyone of us carries a star deep within our hearts” Like most fans I’ve been waiting for most of my life for Sailor moon to get a proper adaptation, and like the rest of crystal, this is not it. Just like eternal, this suffers from the worst flaws of crystal, amplified by a ridiculously short run time. Again instead of prioritizing manga content we are plagued by cheap senseless fanservice and references to the past series. There are few meaningful additions to the story which honestly is a travesty considering how vague parts of the ending areeven in manga form. For a franchise as popular worldwide as Sailor moon to be done such a disservice, what does that mean for the future of anime as a whole?

Let’s start with some surface level criticism. We get cheap and lazy references to the old anime like Mamo’s clothing in the airport scene, the outer guardians finally get their final attacks animated only to be done the disservice of changing them into energy balls like the the old anime and crystal did for their initial attacks, and while I was prepared to complain about the iconic transformation sequences and attack animations cutting into the shockingly short runtime, the anime actually plaid those moments on double time (praise Neo Queen Serenity, we need the runtime for everything else). However back to criticism. Instead of Sailor Venus’s love and galaxia shock being animated with the stars and galaxy beads from the manga we get the same generic stock animation. Toei has once again proved they don’t know how to handle this cash cow of a franchise beyond cheap lazy tricks to appeal to basic nostalgia. Toei I promise you, it’s worth putting in some effort. If you used your collective intelligence you’d realize you could have sold proplicas of the new attack. But hey what do I know, I mean you couldn’t even be bothered to animate that the inner guardians now have physical objects for their weapons like the outer cast. God forbid we reinstate more of the world building you scrapped in eternal. Let’s just let Toei continue to pop out proplicas mainly for the 90s version of everything.

What’s good? The nostalgia of course. That’s literally the most effort they put into this. I’ve been endlessly obsessed with the opening animations since they got added to YouTube last year and they are still flawlessly done. The new vocals are fantastic and the visuals do an excellent job of foreshadowing the plot. The best part of oppening one is the future fading away in front of Chibiusa, and opening two’s highlight is of course the Sailor Galaxia and Kakyuu moment, as well as the galaxy cauldron being shown in the beginning.

Their fantastic visuals show toei knows what fans love, and yet why did they put so little effort into adapting the content itself? It’s honestly just as fascinating as it is rage enducing. For a series as world renowned, and with a company created by Takeuchi to protect it how could things be done so lazily? It’s 2024, this fandom has survived and thrived for over 3 decades, we jump at all content and all merch. Do better Toei, we may be simps, but we want effort.

With the preamble done, let’s dive in

Questions and uncertainties have plagued the fandom since the manga ended decades ago. Do we learn more about Sailor Cosmos and her war against Chaos? No time for that. Do we learn the fates of Usagi’s family and our beloved feline friends? Thank Neo Queen Serenity yes. Do we get an additional glimpse into the future to see for certain if Chibiusa ever reunites with Helios after their promise? Lol of course not. That would be ground breaking amd meaningful and we have to save time for what was originally cheap filler tin the 90s, the Iconic transformations and stock footage attacks that were done so lazily for the movie.

At the very least between all the cuts I get to see my beloved Asanuma one last time. He may have suffered having his scenes cut in early seasons but it’s refreshing to see him one last time. For those who don’t remember him, he is Mamo’s underclassmen, a boy with a crush on Mako and one of the few civilians trusted with their secret. A true shame that like most civilian side characters he fell out of focus as the plot got heavier and thicker with supernatural threats. It was my hope this movie would resolve some of the dropped plotlines of the series like Mako x Asanuma, but alas no time for that or any reveals for the side cast. But think of how nice it would have been for Mamo to actually be shown interacting with guy friends instead of the girls the whole time. Asanuma was truly a delight and good ally for him.

Now I need to give credit where credit is due. Despite the cuts and break neck pace, it expanded on several thing people have complained about for years. Naru is shown for the first time since the infinity arc and we thankfully know she went to high-school with the girls and see her eating with Usagi, Haruka and Michirru. Honestly no notes on that. We get the Starlights putting up a fight before they die unlike the manga where they’re attacked while unconscious. Now Toei, I’m giving you praise for this, but you ruined it by not giving them and Kakyuu a proper send off at the end. They earned it, they fought hard to bring peace and deserved to receive a proper goodbye before disappearing back to their home planet.

We also get a rather awkward (yet also refreshing) scene where Usagi returns home at the end and see Shingo for the first time in years! Even better, we get confirmation her whole family and the cats survived / got revived. Now the edgy subset of the fandom can finally shut up and accept reality, cause Cosmos knows the rest of us are tired of those inane questions popping up monthly. We needed more of this, the story is designed to be expanded on in adaptations, not have content skipped. And it’s nice to see Shoujo Queen Takeuchi sensei managed to get some brief complaints people have had resolved. Now let the next reboot do better Queen, your fandom needs you!

Let’s keep the praise going, the character models are even more perfect then they were in eternal. Sailor Cosmos is especially gorgeous. And we even are treated to a new character design, we get a proper look at Sailor Chaos for the first time ever! And Takeuchi slayed it with the medusa inspiration for her. Let’s talk transformation sequences next. The starlights get underwhelming references to their old sequences, Cosmos and chibi chibi get scraps, Kakyuu faired slightly better then the starlights but nothing spectacular. Sailor Quartet? Nothing at all. Sailor moon herself though got more then one transformation. The first referenced stars, even used the locket and the second one is absolutely brilliant. It’s full of references to past 90s ones. My favorite part by far is the feathers making her skirt like the S transformation with the heart. But guess who finally got the solid gold treatment transformation wise? My girl Chibiusa. It’s flawless. Cute and feminine and 100% her. We even get a new adorable emblem (Maybe locket). A+ work. 100% makes up for her only having a short one in the 90s (with the exception of the movie), a horrible one in crystal 2 and 3z and the same joined sequence in eternal as supers. This was worth the wait, too bad Saturn didn’t get that effort for her transformation in eternal. We waited 30 years and got scraps with that one.

Now the songs are on point. I praise the new oppening and endings elsewhere, but the new version of the 3 lights song (search for your love) is also excellent. And what’s more, we get the adorable marriage song to close the series, and a phenomenal new piece in moon flower. A beautiful song written as if Sailor moon is singing it to chibi chibi. It captured the theme of the movie and conveys it beautifully.

At its core, this story arc is about stripping away everything that gives Usagi her strength and seeing what happens when she is forced into an unthinkable despair. Her love, friends, family, her child and the promised future our all mercilessly destroyed in front of her eyes. But what is on the other side of despair? For Usagi, it’s still hope and compassion. She does not give into despair, she rises above her losses and overcomes her pain, showing mercy to her enemies and accepting that her actions may not be the best path forward for the world, but having faith that she can overcome any obstacle. Sailor Cosmos, her future self, the guardian who failed to stop chaos and lost hope, even has her passion reignited, she takes Usagi’s strength and accepts that she wasn’t wrong to make the choice she did. With this newfound resolve, she decides to continue her never ending war against Chaos, no matter the pain it brings her.

I think it’s important to point out that Cosmos and Chaos are the 2 states of the universe in Greek mythology. Chaos is the absence of life in the universe, a state of void and indistinguishable matter, while Cosmos is the presence of order in the universe or the universe itself. While Sailor Galaxia strived to be the strongest sailor in the Galaxy these two primordial forces of good and evil are the real deal. I encourage casual fans to look up various names you may not recognize so you can truly appreciate the lore. Some members of the Shadow Galactic Empire are also references to the mythologies that helped inspire this beloved series.

Lets talk about the end. We see a beautiful moment in time, the wedding day for Usagi and Mamo, as well as the day that Chibiusa is conceived. We end with her gaining everything she desired and close on this bittersweet ending with a closing monologue by Mamo. His words hang over visuals of their past and present meetings, as well as their future together. A truly flawless moment thatreally hammers home that this is the end while also setting up Sailor Moon’s future as Sailor Comos. Mamo can see visions of the future, his closing monologue about her living on beyond everyone else’s lifespan is a fact that we see with Sailor Cosmos.” Sailor Moon you will without a doubt live on forever. You are the most beautiful star and you will shine brightly until the end of time.” A bittersweet prophecy to close our beloved series.

10/10 would still recommend. When you wait most of your life to see some of your favorite moments on screen, you’re sadly forced to take what you can get and enjoy the ride despite the faults. I still recommend this train wreck of a movie to any Sailor moon fan who treasures the manga’s impeccable and breathtaking story, and for those who have never read it, please no the content is far superior in manga form. The story still moves at a fast pace. But it’s slow as hell compared to the movies. The characters, dialogue and world building is phenomenal in manga form, you can get so much out of each panel and it’s a shame that once again, instead of expanding on the fantastic lore, we’re plagued with an adaptation the cuts content. Each chapter of the manga is packed with dialogue and content because it was designed to move rapidly, so the anime which was always just a short ways behind, would have a lot to work with. I encourage you all to imagine what we could have had if crystal and the movies that followed were given adequate runtime, to not only fully adapt the content of each chapter, but expand on it in meaningful ways. While the first season of crystal did toy with this idea, it didn’t implement it well and wasn’t given enough runtime to do it without cuts and several meandering questionable changes. It’s a shame instead of improving from there we just got worse, cutting just as much content and barely adding scraps, even in the grand finale.

Hopefully in the future we are given a truly excellent reboot of the main series that doesn’t start off as a cheap cash grab and end as a decent yet disappointing adaptation overall. However in the meantime, I’ll settle for an adaptation of the iconic Prequel that started it all Codename Sailor V, or even a season adapting the collection of side stories. Get on it Toei, you know you want more of our money.

Stray notes for those who want more

The body horror is censored as expected. So the deaths are less impactful

Sadly Chibi Moon and the Sailor quartet get minimal screen time just like in the manga. While their 2 iconic attacks are shown, they’re done in a minimalistic way with very little fanfare. They are cute like the girls but should have been so much more considering these are their joint attacks and they only ones we will see from them. Like at least make pink ladies freezing kiss pink. Amazoness arrow was actually really cute and really them though.

Sailor Lethe and Sailor Mnemosyne get a slightly more detailed flashback where we see their plants fully.

Honestly it fills me with rage that eternal movies were such a mediocre adaptation of my favorite arc. The dream arc solves many of the complaints people had about the manga, by expanding the lore around the guardians and highlighting each of them and their pasts. It’s truly a beautiful arc that sets up Cosmos, and despite taking years for it to release, it didn’t receive half the effort that Cosmos received. Cosmos proves that they could have done a beautiful job with eternal despite its ridiculously short runtime and cut content. While Cosmos had slightly more chapters to adapt, it feels like significantly less content was cutz plus it had some brief additions.

One more eternal complaint. They skipped the full backstories of the castles in eternal, but they get one line here by Pluto explaining their origin as gifts from Queen Serenity. It may be included at last, but that doesn’t make them skipping them or the power guardians explanation in eternal less infuriating.

As an English dub watcher, got to point out that they couldn’t even be bother to get Asanuma’s original va back for this. Always nice when they put no effort into consistency. To further illustrate just how lazy some casting choices continue to be even here at the end, They have Amalee play heavy metal Papillion, most likely for the sole reason that her vtuber persona is butterfly themed. If that’s all it takes. To get a role these days then I don’t even know what to say. But good for her.

And with that I’m done. If you want more sassy complaints or praise, feel free to send me a message. I love talking Sailor Moon.

And remember, Sailor moon says "the Moonlight is a messenger of love"

Total crap and the worst part of this Crystal remake series, which was very mediocre and sometimes outright bad anyway. While the previous parts were directed maybe at 12-13 years old, Cosmos audience have to be some 7 in order to enjoy it. It's emotionally flat, with incoherent plot, too much talking, and lukewarm play of voice actors. The characters' personalities are inconsistent, and they behave in ways that oppose their basic characters. Stupid gags and improper humour ruin the presumably serious mood of this part, with the characters suddenly getting all happy and cheerful right after being sad and broken. There's nothing good to besaid about this movie, except maybe for Yasuharu Takanashi's soundtrack. Still, despite all my love for this composer, I appreciate the ost of the old anime much more. Definitely not recommended.

Fascinating as watching a Glenn Danzig movie like Verotika or Death Rider in the House of Vampires can be, meaning that this badly animated and awfully "written" movie is just a glorious, laughable trainwreck of epic proportions which only redeeming factor (the reason why I didn't give this a 1 but a 2) is that Kotono Mitsuishi IS Usagi Tsukino and always will be, no matter the quality of the material she's voicing. For the rest, if you have a particular fetish for the incomprehensible mess of the Sailor Moon terrible manga in terms of "lore" or "character development" (the worst parts of this turdare all directly adapted from the unreadable on all fronts manga) and you think some sparse fanservice from the 90's animated life changing experience is enough to satiate your needs to remember when the IP - of which appeal clearly hack Naoko Takeuchi, the one overseeing the entire remake fiasco project in person, had no understanding whatsoever of sorts - actually had an impact for people all around the world even years after the series ended (I myself became a moonie only a few years ago thanks to the anime), you might find this up your alley. If you don't, leave this alone without regrets. Hell, even if you're into the Super Sentais (the ones from which the entirety of the IP spawned in the first place together with the magical girls) and tokusatsus in general, leave this thing alone with no regrets whatsoever and go straight to watch the real japanese-made superheroics cosmos, Urutoraman Cosmos, which is not by accident my favourite iteration of the Urutoraman IP that I've watched so far. You won't miss anything.

I actually watched this back in August with bells on and just forgot to post here because I really enjoyed this two part movie event. Stars is not my favorite Sailoor Moon arc, but I don't dislike it. I think that Takeuchi really piled on the drama for this arc and wanted to bring us something different than previous arcs in the series. Once again, I think that the SMC team really did a good job with the manga material and made things engaging and fun to revisit. It reminded me of everything I enjoy about Sailor Moon. The characters, the stakes, and the romance. All of my qualms with this adaptation were qualms I carry over from being a fan of the manga. While I really love that Sailor Moon is pushed to her limits, at times the story feels a little slow and sometimes entrenched within itself. However, the finale makes up for it and it was nice to see such care and respect given to the source material once again.

If you enjoyed the previous offerings in the Sailor Moon Crystal adaptation of the manga, then you will enjoy this too. If you prefer the original anime to the manga, then this might be disappointing. I had a lot of fun and I'll probably watch it again sometime when I feel like doing an SMC rewatch in the future.

eh first half was incredibly fast paced and a bit unpleasant to sit through, and if i wasnt aware of the series at all, i wouldve dropped it. 2nd half was very good, but honestly watching this all made me wish that it was a tv series instead of a movie. The buildup to that final fight with Chaos would've been incredible. All in all, as a long time sailor moon fan, the journey of watching the Crystal reboot since 2014 has been a very bumpy ride. I guess i'm glad the manga finally got an adaptation, but I wish Toei could've treated it with more careand dignity than it actually got.

If you're a long time fan, i'd recommend watching, but if you're new to the sailor moon franchise you'll be incredibly lost and you'll probably have an easier time getting into it by just reading the manga (if you want all the dark goodness without a weirdly done animation adaptation) or diving into the 90s anime and getting a fun campy experience.

The rating of Sailor Moon Cosmos will be discussed first, and overall, I believe the two movies are a mixed bag, although they have many exceptional moments that stand out. The primary flaw I have is that while the second season adapts the remainder of the story spectacularly well, the first half has a tendency to drag on and get caught in loops that would not be as bad if the series was told normally. Among these can be seen the fact that the first movie struggles to only focus on two characters being picked off at a time, and additionally struggles to fully fleshout characters due to the limited screentime, such as the Starlights and Animamates. There simply isn't enough time in the movie to give everyone the development they deserve, and although this is understandable due to the fact that it is an entire season worth of content being adapted, one would hope for a more streamlined telling of the story. As it is, the entire story, while perfectly serviceable, struggles to fit the formulaic nature of the manga's plot into an hour and a half movie, and things feel cramped. This is not aided by the persistent use of stock footage, especially in attacks and transformations that are repeatedly used in full. Additionally, while both movies are perfectly fine, the first movie has a somewhat jarring tone, occasionally not bothering to fully explain plot points, which makes some scenes incredibly bizarre and feel mismatched in pacing, with a lot of exposition only coming near the end of the movie and the first part of the second half.

The second half of Sailor Moon Cosmos is arguably better, because this half of the corresponding manga focuses solely on worldbuilding and lore surround Shadow Galactica's henchmen, despite a similar occurrence to the first movie with the Outer Senshi in their castles. What this means is that there is much more time to expand on their personalities and battles, with the Sailor Animamates actually being shown with compassionate sides. This is a great development to make the Sailor Animamates and other Shadow Galactica members multi-faceted, especially since one of manga/Crystal Sailor Moon's primary flaws is that a lot of characters can seem fairly one-dimensional, especially given their disposable nature. However, this works in Cosmos' favor in this particular case, because it emphasizes the control Galaxia has over her minions, and the ending forgoes the rather dark and ambiguous conclusion of the manga by instead ending on a positive footnote of lost and regained strength, which reinforces the series ideals. 5/10 for the Cosmos movies together.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As for the entire Sailor Moon Crystal/Eternal/Cosmos franchise as a whole, the series has always been on uneven footing, although it does follow the standard layout of the original manga quite well. The primary issue appears to be that the series, especially when presented simply as is, is somewhat bare; even accounting for the more unique aspects of the plot such as Pluto's battle in the second season among others, at times the franchise does feel like it struggles to find its own footing, especially earlier on. This is not to say that the series is bad, and it is in fact quite good. However, many moments feel dulled from the impact they may have otherwise had, although the story is overall still solid. One of the best aspects of Crystal is the heavy themes of destiny and fate, which repeatedly work in the series' favor, not only for the girls themselves, but even for tying together plot elements that would otherwise be only seemingly held together tangentially. This works especially well in connecting the seasons core themes to each other, and they also do admirably handling themes of depression and grief, among others. Overall, Sailor Moon Crystal is a worthwhile watch and has its own merits that help it stand out. 7/10.

So I came to this not expecting much but recent samurai x remake gave a bit hope so Decided to give a try. And this was one of the bigest mistakes in my anime watching years. Friendly advice just watch original. And I'm not talkng abou the nostalgia, the entire anime are like 2 diferent pieces. Where did my character develeopment go, the galaxia throwing her humanity away and it becoming chibi chibi and not tometion sailormoons development was so shalow. At best this show has a lot of morl slogans and how beeing alone sux. The worst remake to this day. Also animatinationis horrible. Music is whatever, no atmosphere whatsoever like reading some webbtoons is better than this.

Personal Opinion One rant and suddenly it's good LOL. This one’s a big step up from "Eternal" The presentation in this part is way more refined—more logical, more grounded. They cut down the annoying repetition a lot (it’s still there a bit, but nowhere near as frustrating as before). I gotta admit, Usagi’s always been a pretty static character like, who she was in the first season is pretty much who she still is now. But what they did better here is give her more dimensions, showing different sides of her, which helps balance things out nicely. Direction, this movie feels the clearest in terms of themeit really nails the core of what "Sailor Moon" is about better than any other part of the series.

Visually and scene. They went all in. The magical girl energy was off the charts. Characters actually get to Action and fight moreso much (better than transforming for half an episode just to one-shot the enemy.)

My biggest letdown? Galaxia. She was built up so well, but then her ending was just... too easy. Her death had *no* real impact.

And don’t even get me started on the whole Star Seed + Sailor Cosmos stuff. They didn’t set any of it up. If you’ve never read the manga, you’d be totally lost.....like, I barely got it.

Overall, as someone who’s never read "Sailor Moon", this part finally delivered on so many levels it hit where it needed to hit.

So I watched these new films. I was so excited to finally see my favorite arc of the manga adapted, but unfortunately I was left disappointed to the point where I started questioning why I even loved the Stars arc to begin with. Even with all that I still somewhat enjoyed the films. I didn't like the pacing though and I just felt like the deaths of the characters were rushed. I wish we had more time to spend with them. If I were the writer for sailor moon I would've definitely have added extra scenes with the group of sailor guardians to help fleshthem out more. Like maybe there could've been moments where the characters are just having fun or relaxing without having to fight any monsters or enemies. Maybe we could have some scenes of the villains and flesh out their back stories more. Speaking of the villains I wish we had some more scenes with iron mouse and the rest of them, like maybe some scenes that showed them on their home planets before the deaths of their respective planets sailor senshi.

All that aside the animation and lighting was well done, I wish these movies still kept some of the really dark imagery, but maybe one day we'll get an adaptation that improves on the manga like what the 90's anime did. The 90's anime wasn't perfect, but they had nice characterization.

Rant over.

Halloween wouldn’t’ve been complete without this scare. It’s weird they decided to milk nostalgia now by using Moonlight Densetsu in the opening. Again, I ask why did the 20th anniversary project turn into the 30th anniversary project, with the constant delays and gaps?? It's beyond embarassing. It’s weird Haruka and Michiru have this much screen time. However it’s left unexplained why Haruka accepts to wear a girl’s school uniform. And whether Seiya and the rest become men when they’re in Earthling disguise. Apparently they do, like in the classic – I thought the point was to adapt the manga to a T, without copying the classic. Andyet, they copy the transformations, attacks and even the art from the classic. Plus, the writers still hate on Rei extremely much, she’s barely in any of these Crystal versions.

Why is Usagi holding those cats like a savage???? Of all the bad ways I’ve seen her, Minako and the others hold them, this has got to be worst. And to top it all, Luna, Artemis and Diana are also injured at this point. Literally wtf.
