Wow an anime that actually balances comedy and romance perfectly, and has many well-developed characters that aren't the main cast, instant 9. This anime actually surprised me, because the premise isn't really something new; forbidden love. However, the way they executed it was well done and pretty funny. So, the story focuses on the hero team Gelato 5 and the villain organization Gekko, like other romcoms with this formula, two people from the opposing sides fall in love, and the show focuses on how they develop as a couple and how they hide it from the public. I don't think this anime focuses on the story, It'smore on enjoyment and character development. What elevates this show though, is the pure nonsense put into the world. Take the time where they confess to each other, fudo (male mc) knows about desumi (female mc), who's identity is supposed to be a secret, is through social media, lol. It was just so hilarious and it took me off guard, and that basically sets the tone for the story: a wacky romcom whos humor focuses on romantic situations in a dumb world, and I fucking dig it.

This show provides us with problems, new characters, all the stuff you need for a good story, and pulls it off in a really fun way. The art is nice , I don't remember seeing any drops in quality, and the character designs were cool. The sound, was full of different bgm that really set the mood of the scenes and I think it was pretty good.

The cast is full of interesting people and they all feel good to watch. The main couple bring healing to my soul. Desumi is a really well done character who feels real. Fudo, you could say is kinda one dimensional, and that does take away from the story a bit, how he's a dense dude that only values muscles and Desumi, and doesn't have much to deal with. However, I don't think this was a bad choice, as (imo) the show is really about Desumi, how being with fudo change her is a theme throughout the show. So, the fact that fudo doesn't have his own problems, all stem from their relationship, is not the worse choice. I do still think that they could've given him problems for desumi to fix, but to be fair, with the given amount of episodes, I don't think that was possible. Next, it the rest of the gelato 5, they also are pretty 1 dimensional and have one character trait that they stick with, but as I said, the show doesn't really focus on fudo the characters of the gelato 5 don't really matter as much. Then there is the princess series (basically the rest of the teenage girls who are in gekko), their characters are really nice to watch and feel real. How the show introduces new princesses and builds on the already existing princesses was really a treat to watch, not something you'd expect from an anime that centralizes on "dumb" humor. Lastly, there is the families of the main couple, and they seem to achieve their purpose, as problems/new friends and stuff.

This show was a blast and I can see people not liking this show, as both the comedy and romance aren't what you'd see in other shows of those respective genres. However, all I'll say is give this show a chance, the quality of each episode is really consistent, so watching the first few episodes can really give a feel for the show. I really enjoyed this show and would totally recommend it to people who like "dumb" humor, and yeah that's all. Great anime.

“What would you like to be when you grow up?” Most children say “a doctor”, “a pilot”, or other intriguing mainstream professions. These jobs all differ in functionalities and skill set but one thing stays the same, free will. Most children can choose of their own volition. But for Magahara Desumi that choice was never presented to her. At least not until the events of this anime. *This review contains minor spoilers that are highlighted* Love After World Domination is a story about 2 star-crossed lovers and their trysts whilst trying to hide their relationship from everyone in their lives. However, contrary to the show’s premise, this show doesn’t take itself too seriously. Exemplified by the villain organization Gekko being less harmful than a housefly and everyone’s Hannah Montana’s levels of double identity disguise that makes this moronic if you look at this anime critically.

This show requires 2 things from you to make it an entertaining watch, these being your suspension of disbelief and an open attitude. This is because this show relies heavily on subversions of the norm and comedic reveals for its comedy, where at times, even at the cost of its own practicality from a storytelling standpoint. However, if you can look past this, this show is a blast to watch with its exemplary character chemistry, diverse side characters, and hilarious albeit slightly repetitive comedic sequences.

*Minor spoilers ahead*

Desumi and Fudo have some of the best romantic chemistry in a rom-com. With one specific thing that is really appreciable in their relationship that isn't present in other rom-coms. This being the way that they support each other in achieving what they want. Many rom-coms in this day and age only play to the attraction of each other’s appearances making the romance feel extremely superficial. In a similar vein of thought, some romance MCs do help their significant others improve or achieve but do so in the hopes of them fitting the mold they themselves lay out. Case in point a similar anime called Boarding School Juliet, where the female MC actually says she wants someone “who can change the world”. This isn’t genuine because it shows that the MC only likes a type specifically but not them specifically. Leaving the viewer unsettled as to whether the MC would leave the other one if a better option came along. Desumi and Fudo however, do not defy each other’s choices, but instead support their choice and freewill regardless of the outcome that might consequently affect themselves. Exemplified by Fudo pleading with Desumi’s father to make her own decisions and Desumi supporting Fudo’s writing phase.

*spoilers end*

Love After World Domination utilizes its side characters with a given purpose. The side characters are a bit generic but heavily contribute to the overall development of the story. They use your preconceived notions of them to subvert your expectations for comedic effect. As seen in the frequent reveals of many Gekko members and their many roles in everyday society. Similarly, the show also uses these side characters as an important catalyst for the events happening in each episode. Thanks to its largest cast of side characters, each episode feels relatively unique when they really have the same plot outline; the protection of their secret relationship from everyone else. However, this is also one of its weaknesses as the show sometimes trips over pre-established character traits in previous episodes in order to get an extra laugh or make the episode reach a happy conclusion. Thus requiring the suspension of disbelief and an open attitude to new developments.

The animations of Love After World Domination unfortunately aren’t the greatest with this sentiment only perpetuated by the Gekko costumes looking like a 12 year old’s rendition of a skeleton on halloween. The regurgitated power rangers getups are also a massive throw off that seem overly effortless from an animation and creativity standpoint. Leaving this entertaining and intriguing premise seem somewhat silly when you begin watching the show.

Overall Love After World Domination en masse had some outstanding MC chemistry and effective side characters that makes this a very worthwhile experience. However its animations and plot contrivances are a slight detrimental to the immersion of the show.

OH YEAH KEEP THAT TOKUSATSU INSPIRED ANIME COMING!!! We got kuroitsu-san last season, soon we will get fuuto pi but for now,we get this romance anime. Yeah you heard them right,a love story in a tokusatsu story, not between the hero or sentai but between two rivals.one a ranger that trynna protect the world and one trynna rule the world, their love language are probably "I WILL PROTECT THIS WORLD" and "WORLD DOMINATION". As a child that growing with tokusatsu, there's always that little fanservice scene where a lovey dovey moment between the sentais that i've always waited, some kids said that romance is boring bur for me?,it's a goddamn blessing, and it justa minor scene alone, this anime is a full 24 minute of tokusatsu based romance anime so i think i can call this a GOD MAXIMUM CRITICAL BLESSING.(did you get that reference 👀)

I expect more of this in the latter season,it's not even ended yet i already want a second season.I also love all the character especially our "villain",Magahara, ain't she just the most adorable and beautiful tokusatsu villain ever. Thanks for giving me even more reasons to love this anime.

The music is also on point, the opening is perfect for this anime and that opening animation is just AMAZING.(especially when Misaki tied her hair,it's making me feel things😖).

Overall i really enjoy this show, both as a toku fans and anime fans, totally amazing.it's so good that i want to do some epic transformation sequence.

To anyone whom has read or seen William Shakespeare's Romeo X Juliet, it's arguably one of the most instantaneously recognizable plays ever to exist in the English playwright-cum poet and actor's life. And it's so famous that even centuries later, many forms of media exist taken as an inspiration (an ode or form of emanation to be precise) to create something original out of it. This happens a lot especially when it comes to mediums like anime, the most recent being mangaka Yousuke Kaneda's ever-so-popular Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet a.k.a Boarding School Juliet which wrapped up in 2019 (the anime adaptation is flawless inmy book, and that's saying a lot even 2.5 years later).

It's then to my surprise to hear that the next successor to continue this tradition happens in the exact same Romeo X Juliet form, except that it adds the references from both the Tokusatsu-inspired Super Sentai and last season's monster-inspired Kaijin Kaihatsu-bu no Kuroitsu-san a.k.a Miss Kuroitsu from the Monster Development Department, and this is exactly what the mangaka Noda Hiroshi is going for in his rom-com series that is Koi wa Sekai Seifuku no Ato de a.k.a Love After World Domination, and it's arguably his best work to date. Also, I don't know why they didn't just go ahead and call this: "Love Is War" (whoops, sorry Kaguya-sama...)

Koi wa Sekai Seifuku no Ato de, or as the translated title goes "Love After World Domination", is exactly what it sounds like: the battle of good and evil, where love triumphs all at the end of the day. And this is the setting to give both our heroes and villains the context: the Tokusatsu, Super Sentai (whatever you want to call it) inspired group Freezing Sentai Gelato 5 with the usual Power Ranger-type colours vs. the Kuroitsu-san evil organization inspired group Secret Society Gekko with Supreme Leader Bosslar and its Generals which are the Princess Series (which I'll get into) and monsters of different quirks and features. But what you just need to know in this show, is that the Romeo X Juliet plotline plays the same here between the main characters: the bufflord and dense-but-honest Red Gelato Fudo Aikawa and the superhuman strength and perceived sadism Reaper Princess Desumi Magihara, as they attempt their relationship stints in secret while being new into the romance game and hiding the fact from their respective organizations. And just like Boarding School Juliet, both Desumi and Fudo would do everything in their power not to get noticed, for if they're found out, then all hell would break loose. It's your typical simple rom-com setting that does its service well as intended.

But what's your typical rom-com without the supporting character cast, and I think that they did an admirable job despite Fudo and Desumi having most of the screentime to one another. Kicking things off with Freezing Sentai Gelato 5, the ones that really stood out (in order of the anime adaptation as opposed to the manga) are the kid sister role of Pink Gelato Haru Arisugawa and the ladies' man role of Blue Gelato Hayato Ojino. That's not to say that there wasn't a reason for the big sister character of Yellow Gelato Misaki Jinguuji, the altruistic and protective Green Gelato Daigo Todoroki, and Professor Big Gelato (which definitely has that Astro Boy Professor Atom feel) to exist, they're merely team players supporting their team leader Fudo since he is the face of the Super Sentai group after all.

Same goes with the Secret Society Gekko, where Supreme Leader Bosslar somehow looks similar to the General from the Mega Man X4 game, and the various Princess Series characters and monsters which all look up to the Reaper Princess. From the likes of the frenzy Beast Princess Kiki Majima and silent Steel Princess Kyoko Kuroyuki (whom has an internal office relationship with the beary Culverin Bear) to the Komi-san's Ren Yamai-yandere inspired Anna Hojo, you have lots of characters overall that lend their own quirky personalities to make the show better, that's not just a duo couple show between Fudo and Desumi alone, and for that, it gets a pass. Also, a shoutout to veteran VA Fumihiko Tachiki for lending his voice as the narrator, I don't ever think that background vocals get enough love as they should, and for someone whom's also the narrator for Golden Kamuy, that is really saying volumes of how great his vocals are.

For such a manga that's easy to adapt, it falls into the staff team's hands at doing the best they could, and for newbie Project No. 9 in-house director Kazuya Iwata, that's what he did with his production team, and made it a heck ton of fun and enjoyment to be had. Personally, I find that this is one of the better shows that the studio has produced in recent years, and it's quite noticeable from the action to even the romance segments where punches and kicks are playfully done that still shows the extent of power. It's striking for a show that presumes to have limited budget, yet the sakuga in this doesn't make me feel it's unkempt enough. Overall, pretty good work.

When it comes to music, I always anticipate what would come next of Masayoshi Oishi since most of his song repertoire have been nothing but bangers across the board, and this show's OP "Koi wa Explosion" featuring famed Anisong-cum-VA Yukari Tamura, is once again a no-brainer for me to say that it absolutely bangs the way that's a style similar-but-different to Kaguya-sama's OPs with Japan's King of Love Songs Masayuki Suzuki with whoever he's paired up with. The ED with the well-established girl group DIALOGUE+, do I really need to say that it's also good as well? It's another plus point from the same goddamn aspect I've churned out for so long that would "save anime", or rather save the world first through love, after dominating the world, HA HA, geddit?

This show being a Romeo X Juliet Tokusatsu twist has no right to be this good given its inspirations, but it's definitely one of the better shows of the season that has a decent following and ample amounts of romantic comedy that would have you be Steven He slapping slippers on the floor and saying "EMOTIONAL DAMAGE!" that true than most, does inflict some emotional damage of the good kind. It's entertainment-worthy fun and doesn't take itself seriously, for the relationship works wonders and navigates like lovebirds wandering onto a treacherous path and carefully treading it to reach Paradise. Defo a show worthy of being under the TGIF banner of pre-weekend amusement.

I didn't know that I needed Power Rangers Romeo and Juilet in my life, but now I love it, and want more. This is what this anime offers, and delivers in so many moments. Let me explain why. Story and characters: 7 There isn't really too much on the story front in terms of the actual worlds story. As it's more focused in the romance between the supposed two sworn enemies. Which is played out super well, with very cute scenes, and it's rather sweet. You'll come to love the couple after their first date, and as the series goes on. Fudou is just a bif lovelyidiot honestly. He's buff, but he's also buff in the heart too. He's not just some hero after all, he legit gives a damn, but also with his sights set on love, and the encouragement of one of his peers. He's not gonna back down any time soon. Desumi on the other hand is a really sweet gal. Despite being on the side of bad, when more of character comes out, it really shows just how cute she really is. Bot of them really vibe off each other two, it's a special and cute connection.

For more context on the story however, it's the classic case of good vs evil, but with the twist within, that really pushes it along, and pushes it along super well. With hopefully, more highlighted bits on other cast memebers, as we've known some for the moment, and I'm sure, we will as we go along, but for now, it's blended together nicely to make for a fun ride.

Art and sound:7

The art is really well done in many areas, and they really capture the tone of the show hands down. From details on the expressions, but the clothing details in general. The second episode is a super highlight to me, as I really adore how that was shot, and framed, and how it looked overall. With the reactions of the characters, from our two main faces, to the rest of the ongoings, it's very well put together.

Koi wa Sekai can seem really weird at first, but then turns out it's a solid, charming, and fairly cute show, mainly because of the relationship of two characters. When a romance hits, it certainly hits, which it does really well here. Watch it now.

Here is my recommendation before the review; just avoid losing time with ep 11. What I like about this anime is that it aimed to be a simple romcom, and it delivered. There was one obvious problem that almost every anime has lately, and a few small ones. The obvious problem for me was that episode 11 shouldn’t exist, it was a terrible filler that makes us lose time. Why not just make the anime shorter and have a great anime? The other problems was that there were some lazy material xD. Also mc was a little too easy on some people, the girl mc is dressed extra slutty for noreason, maybe I’m being naive here but idk, you guys tell me.

Lastly, why was one team named Gelato?

I still think it is a fine anime tho.

This show might be the dumbest thing I've ever watched, but it doesn't change the fact that it's pretty good. If you told me that there would be an anime where the Red Ranger dates Rita Repulsa I wouldn’t know how to react. I still dont know how to react after finishing it. All I can really say is that if you're looking for a funny anime that you can just enjoy then this is the one. Art: 9 The art and animation are pretty good. I think the character designs are pretty creative and I personally enjoyed watching a bear with cannons. In all seriousness, the art compliments the anime really well.

Sound: 9

The sound design did what it needed to do. The sounds they would use in the background really suited the silliness of the show, also the op is actually perfect. An absolute banger.

Characters: 9

The characters are funny and wacky and even though they might not be super fleshed out. They all complimented each other really well whenever they were on screen. Plus watching Fudo and Desumi's relationship was actually really enjoyed every week.

Story: 7

The story is a really dumb premise that just hooked me, to be honest, but it was pretty much what I expected, and there would be times when the episodes would slow down and get a little bit boring. It's nothing too drastic that would take away my enjoyment of the anime, but still a flaw. Overall the show was still pretty good.

Didn't know what this was until I just saw it on AnimeCorner's top 10 of the week, and just binged all 3 episodes that are out I found myself laughing out loud at the very first scene in the first episode, and knew this was gona be good This is what good comedic anime is, the fact that the team is called "Gelato 5" and the enemy is this Dark princess who really is just such a sweetheart on the inside is perfectly over the top While this anime is clearly not taking itself too seriously, and it's not the first or last spin off the "Romeo andJuliet" plot line, the romance hits you in the feels. The voice acting is superb and I feel like they captured the characters perfectly with the art style as well

This anime "comes alive", and you feel so immersed in the character interactions

I almost would say this is close to Kaguya Sama: Love is war this season, in terms of entertainment value and comedy. Both of them are absolutely hilarious and Kaguya Sama in particular I think is raising the bar for comedic anime as a whole, with this being a result of that increase in standard :)

P.S. In addition to Kaguya Sama, this is also coming close to Shokugeki no Souma in entertainment/ comedy value, and that show in my mind is the gold standard and a Masterpiece. One of my favorite anime of all time, so that goes to show how much I'm enjoying this and Kaguya. Absolutely great entertainment

arghhhhhhhhh finally a good chill anime with comedy and romance Walmart Power Rangers Back at it with Forbidden Love I can't say how much I love this couple. They're so amusing to watch. Mind this is not that simple, Throwing hands with your loved one can be a challenge. I gotta give 'em credit for the acting. I Like how fast they're growing, I'm glad there was no misunderstanding like during the interview, Desumi could've gone mad or realized she had no chance or when they were on the date I thought she was gonna be mad & find the date mid but that's why they matched. Onlythe simple details matter. I'm sure not every girl would enjoy this date the way Desumi did, Fudou is one lucky bastard.

I really can't wait to see them make their relationship official, they are cute, they enjoy each other, and get each other so well.

One moment I forgot to mention, Desumi took a photo of Fudou on Live TV🤣🤣 I guess she was that down bad.

The OP and ED slap as well. plus the animation quality is really good.

There is not a lot to say about this show. It's what I would colloquially describe as a 5/10 show, but even that's a little generous. This is watch and forget television. It has a pretty unique premise and setting, however it manages to do less unique and interesting things than something like Komi-san or Azumanga Daioh, both of which have arguably mundane and retreaded settings and plot devices. The art, the animation, the character design, the jokes, none of it is particularly bad, none of it is particularly good. Even by the standards of feel good, by the numbers romance, when you have somany options out there why would you pick this? If you've ever walked into the cereal aisle, seen 20 boxes of Korn Flakes, from 20 different brands, this is that. This does not contribute anything, nor does it take away.

I understand that sometimes you just want a mid tier show to not focus on, but even then you have so many choices. The one character I did like was the warrior on the evil side, who constantly gets clowned on. Even she is just an archetype of the character I like, that I have seen done better 100 times. This is not a terrible show, but just why? Why does it exist?

Err, I guess I'm at the point where I'm absolutely sick all of these generic rom-coms. While people might complain about isekai's being omnipresent in a lot of shows, it being a direct mutation of the classical high fantasy novels and old school RPG games, people tend to forget the other tropes that have been around forever, like power rangers, or even stuff like Godzilla. This show is comedy based on Super Sentai, or Power Rangers genre, and I still don't get why it even uses this trope. There's basically no meaning at all to using power rangers as the theme, as the story has nothingto do with them, other than the initial premise. It could have been another fantasy setting, or even just a normal medieval setting for how little the show interacts with the sentai theme.

Compare this to Kaijin Kaihatsu-bu no Kuroitsu-san, where they are still both comedies based on the power rangers/hero genere, yet look at the layers of interaction and worldbuilding that Kaijin Kaihatsu-bu no Kuroitsu-san does, that this show just does not bother with even attempting at doing. The power ranger theme isn't just thrown there, but it's actually developed. It shows how people get hired in villian organizations, how monsters get created, the relationship and rules between the villians and heroes are, and how these seemingly ridiculous organizations can function in modern society. Of course, this is all done with a comedic tone, but Kaijin Kaihatsu-bu no Kuroitsu-san definitely takes a lot of effort in developing a believable setting for the comedy to take place. If you want to actually watch something that takes the power rangers theme and does something with it, I highly recommend Kaijin Kaihatsu-bu no Kuroitsu-san.

That was a bit of a tangent, but this show basically has nothing going for it. Basically, it's just a rom-com. It's been done over and over again, but basically it's just a couple that's embarrassed about the smallest things, have misunderstandings, and also comedy that's generated from the interactions from the other characters. I have to say, comedy wise, I did not even come close to laughing or cracking a smile. You could argue that there wasn't even any comedy attempted in this show. Were there any jokes? Could these shitty setups even be called comedy? At least the romance exists. Not that it's any good. It's just giga cringe. Like haha, girl is embarrassed about holding hands despite wearing a glorified garter belt. Let's watch her fight in randomly low angles to get a good look at her garterbelt. Super funny!!

You have to give me a reason to like the characters. Like cool,. the Male lead and female lead are dating. So what? Their personality doesn't even exist. All you get is elemetary levels of "dating" and you're supposed to find their "embarrassment" funny? Relatable? Cute? No, it's just cringe. Get me out.

So this is a romcom. The twist is, you take your everyday average romcom's last episode and make it the first ep of LAWD. So they confess in the first ep and it goes on from there. The whole show is rather average if you look closely, there's nothing exceptionally good or bad about it. But I must admit after watching a few romcoms I was really missing the part where the MCs enjoy their relationship. Yeah here everything is easy and stakes are looow, any problems they have they just resolve by talking. Starts with the first ep (not a spoiler really and greatlysimplified):

-b-b-but we are mortal enemies

-yes but I love you and I'm sure we'll work it out

-hmm, if you say so then let's try!

After seeing countless "will they won't they's", stretchings the plot thin, delays, misunderstandings, doubts and all.. I couldn't help but smile when they met in LAWD as a couple. Reaper Princess is softly spoken, cute, has beautiful eyes and a pretty smile. I just liked it haha.

YEAH I KNOW IT'S DUMB! They are generic, they look generic, everything is generic here. And I think that just is intentional. The show doesn't pretend to be anything more. It's just easy cutesy get along well. But not cutesy but trying too hard to be serious and turns out cringy awful. It's also a parody aimed at all the stupid serious superhero shows.

Apart of MCs there are some characters from both sides of the conflict. Not much to say, nothing deep, they're all comically bad. Most are good at heart but pretend to be bad. Evil organisation comically sucks. Minions trip over their own legs and always lose. Bosses are hoplessly stupid and gawky. They have a nice bright canteen in the dark and gloomy evil HQ and so on.. You get the gist.

The amount of butts and tits is ehh.. acceptable. That is, it's there (of course...) but not in amounts that made me roll my eyes in disgust. I try to mention this as some shows go way overboard with it.

Animation is very nice. Colorful, smooth and pretty. Super nice I'd say for such a silly show.

Music was also okay.

Bottom line is that the show knows exactly what it is. It's low stakes, pure, silly, get-along-well, happy ending fun. If you don't expect anything more from it, then it's good. But if you'll set your hopes too high, prepare for disappointment.

I enjoyed it mostly because I needed that after seeing too many failed romcoms.

Score - 7 - good, it was just good, that's all to it!

When you find an Anime which is really good, you don't need to think twice on how you're gonna describe it. But there are Anime in which you have to think about where to to even start. This Anime is one of those. Sure some might say that this Anime is "UNIQUE" and I am all in for "UNIQUE". But I don't think this Anime is what I will call unique. In my opinion, it's not unique. It is something that I'd call "RIDICULOUS!!". Why? Character Designs are decent, that is, only for the ones that are in focus. Sure it's a comedy and a differentkind of Anime and few characters might seem funny, okay, it's understandable. But!! Some of things that are shown in this Anime are also ridiculous. The concept is so ridiculous and the events are handled in such a way that even in the serious moments, you'd think "Was it trying to be serious just now?"

The "Ridiculous" aspect is present in majority.

And with no notable character development, they get all emotional and serious. I mean, was I supposed to feel some kind of emotion as well at that point? There was nothing special about them to make me feel attached to them and they suddenly start being emotional for. It's hard to take them seriously.

At moments, it felt like that the Anime was trying to do something. You know what that is? It was supposed to be a joke to make you laugh!!

ALLOW ME TO EXPLAIN - There's a difference between supposed jokes and actual jokes. I don't know how else I'd explain this but well I think you know what I mean. "Forced Jokes"

I was hoping to give this Anime a 7. This kind of thing always happens to me with such Anime. I wanted to believe that this Anime is good seeing other people's reviews. But it does not have that kind of charm which will make you want to keep watching it at one go. I had to take multiple breaks.

And my oh my, that narrator sure knows how to annoy someone, doesn't he? It's fine that you're narrating things, but don't you have something genuine? Telling me the most obvious things.

For Example (This is not in Anime, just a simple comparison example) - I don't want you to EXPLAIN it to me that the car that just passed by you had 4 wheels. I can see that myself, thank you!!

Despite nonsensical background of characters and sometime absence of common sense in their world it is still quite enjoyable to watch how their relationships unfold. This show is at base a solid 7 and depending on how much you can handwave some nonsense I would say you can have great time watching it. Setting is somewhat fresh and thankfully mostly kept out of school. Still, for some reason they are the school students, probably a requirement for target audience. Not that it makes much of impact on story, but gives chance for some cosplay screen time. Now that would be not much of a spoiler, asit comes right of the start, that MC have confessed straight away. So we a spared of usual slow build up to the confession and get straight to the part of developing couple relationships which are subject to some external difficulties and circumstances.

In general, heroic/villain stuff and ensuing combats is just a background and violence kept at kids level. This theme could take some more thought of creator to make some more sense but alas, it is not meant to be. At least it makes passable background for main characters.

2 minutes in, and you perfectly know how the show going to be. Under the cherry blossom trees, a tsundere offers her homemade cookies with slight cleavage, to a guy in tight red suit & he accepts them, all the while a battle between your favorite fruit-colored rangers and some skull-masked goons happens in the background equipped with flashy guns, punches and tight suits "Love After World Domination" (LAWD) is about "Desumi Magahara", the Death princess of an evil organization known as 'Gekko' & "Fudo Aikawa", the leader of the Gelato 5 hero squad which opposes Gekko. Despite being rivals, they end up falling inlove with each other and now, they have to progress their forbidden love story while still keeping it a secret from the entire world.

Excluding a certain 2 episodes, what LAWD does well is give a good old romance. Instead of prolonging a confession, it dives directly into the relationship aspect and just lets it sail, with the last episode being one amazing moment. There aren't any irritating love triangles that last forever or anything like that. Just you're cute & sweet, uninterrupted and wholesome romance. If you're here for that then you'll be pleased. Those 2 episodes though, actually are a bit rushed and interrupt this main romance, even though it tried to force development on 2 characters. Speaking of characters;

Where's the Power Rangers shit? The rival element isn't interesting one bit. It feels more like two working companies competing with each other rather than "Good vs Evil" organizations, like we should've seen in a Power Rangers setting. It's boring. The characters aren't anything special either. Desumi has some level of depth but apart from her, everyone (including Fudo) are just the same old stupid characters with same old archetypes you see in every other romance setting. And of course, there aren't any fights between giant Gundam-type robots & kaijus or anything like that. Very disappointing. Comedy? Yeah, it's not unfunny. Some facial expression and Fudo's "Oh.. How Cute!" can be found adorable but it wasn't that funny. There are some bright fights here & there to please the fans but wasn't enough. The opening & especially ending is really cute.

What LAWD should've done, is to maintain a balance tokusatsu & romance but what it became? A romance with a Tokusatsu cover. Apart from the somewhat of a unique setting, there isn't anything unique in execution. The elements are as generic as a high school romance (Dates + Study Sessions + Beach Episodes + Cultural Episodes... You should get the drill). And there really isn't anything going on other than that.

For romance fans, this'll be a treat.

But for people who were baited with the power rangers plot, it'll be a huge disappointment.

This anime kicks ass. It is cute, nicely animated and just a solid watch. Great job from the dub cast! An excellent 90's style rom com. Holds up to multiple viewings. Characters are adorable. Sound is solid. Music is extra silly. Side characters are well done! Every episode is just warm and cozy vibes. Fuck the haters. This show is adorable, but I actually wish it offered some more episodes to wrap things up. Both of the main characters are entertaining to watch together. This is just a good time! Grab a blanket, eatsome pizza and stop worrying so much.

Love After World Domination is a very good show, it isn’t that deep or takes itself that seriously, but it doesn’t need to because the comedy is very good and its overall just a fun show. At times it The characters Fudo and Desumi are both fun characters. Fudo does not have much to him besides being the typical strong thick headed buy, but he is serviceable as a secondary main character Desumi on the other hand I think is a well written character whose is just a lot of fun to follow she has family struggles and trys to live up to themand does many things to please them while still trying to be nice to everyone she meets. There isn’t a ton to the side characters they each get their mini arcs to shine and do a decent job at it.

The plot is simple and well executed, a hero falls in love with a villain, and they must hide their relationship from each other's organizations and friends. Along the way you meet different characters, and they find themselves in different situations that most of the time are very funny.

The art style is a bit different, but I like it, it is very cutesy and simple. Studio project no.9 does an excellent job with the animation and sometimes they make the fights look good, but they did a wonderful job with the animation.

Overall it’s just a very fun show to turn your brain off relax and just watch the Romeo and Juliet power ranger crossover take place and have a few laughs along with some heartfelt moments along the way

Surely it may seem to be a unique take on romcoms where heroes and supervillains get into a "forbidden love", Love After World Domination is nothing but saccharine barf once you get a taste of getting cooties from naughty girls back at elementary school. (Also known as cringe) Overall the context of the show has "been there, done that" in every existing medium if you take off the Tokusatsu parody elements. No offense but it's baffling to me and more power to you if anyone out there found this anime entertaining. Now if you excuse me, I better get myself a barf bag...

It's really hard for an anime to stand out in the stellar field of Spring 2022 Anime that had a great mix of heavy hitters with under the radar fresh hits that went viral, but Love After World Domination (you realize this abbreviates to LaWd!) manages to do it because if its interesting premise combined with a top tier waifu! Fudou Aikawa, portrayed as Red Gelato, the main tank in Gelato 5, clearly a parody of the power rangers falls in love with Desumi Magahara, the "Reaper Princess", a combatant leader of "Gekko," an evil secret society bent on world domination. Their organizations are at war,so the two try to "date" IN secret, in Public!!

Story - 6/10

The story is fairly predictable with the characters falling into tried and true stereotypes but kudos to the mangaka for inventing really interesting situations and putting just that slight twist into everything that provides the comedic bits for the anime. One example is how Gekko is actually a decent place to work with a good training program, great benefits and lots of paths for career advancement, if they existed IRL they would rank pretty high on a list of "great places to work." The only drawback is their organizational strategy isn't always as effective as they planned.

Art and Character - 7/10

The animation is nice and fluid with spectacular character designs for the women. By the end of the first episode I was googling where to buy Desumi's garter belt (with the bow ribbons on the string bit) and wondering when we will see a Desumi cosplay because the costume will not be easy to make. Desumi is not just cute, but she's hot enough to be Anime Waifu of the Season if only Yor from Spy x Family wasn't in the same season.

She's not just all looks, there is some character depth here! She ended up in Gekko because her mother applied for her to join the villain academy. Then we find out her father is a staunch corporate villain salaryman whose specialty is doing everything "with artistry!" Her family are all pro-Gekko! THIS, and her innate gifts, are why she ended up on the "wrong side of the law."

It's not surprising Fudou loves her, in fact his unswerving devotion and loyalty are just #relationshipgoals that would make any woman happy. She's his first girlfriend so there's the whole falling in love for the first time vibe that reminded me of my angsty teenage years enough to ** Squee ** at certain scenes.

Sound - 8/10

Honestly the sound effects are realistic with very good voice acting. This coupled with a very catchy OP and ED make it an easy anime to watch.

Enjoyment and overall - 7/10

This was a ton of fun to watch. Yes, some bits are predictable but when the humor hits, it slaps hard. Up until the last episodes I thought I'd be rating this a 5 or a 6 but they did a fantastic last episode in which the supporting cast, plot and events all came to a head (Sanderlanche style) and worked really well! It elevated this anime to a solid 7, so now I join those who hope this will succeed enough to get a second season.

Welcome to part two of taking the p**s out of super sentai shows. In part one, we delved into corporate life of the villain workplace in Miss Kuroitsu from the Monster Development Department (which was probably the most underrated show of last season). In part two, we now tell a classic tale of Romeo and Juliet, but with Power Rangers and hey, I’m all for it. It was one of the show before the season aired that grabbed my interest. Was worth my attention? Yes, yes it was and here’s why. Sit back, relax and go go power on your kettle to make yourself acup of coffee as I present to you

the anime review for Love After World Domination. Let’s begin

Story: 7/10

Good and evil clash in battles as the heroes, “Gelato 5” fight the evil organisation, “Gekko” to prevent them from taking over the world. While the battle rages on, our two main leads, Fudo Aikawa and Desumi Magahara go about on a date while keeping it a secret from everyone else. For you see, Fudo is the “Red Gelato” of Gelato 5 and Desumi is the “Reaper Princess” of Gekko. Two people who are supposed to be sworn enemies are now in a romantic relationship. Despite that though, Fudo and Desumi are determined to make this relationship work and avoid suspicion of those around them.

What follows is a slow but steady growth of the relationship between Fudo and Desumi. Over the course of the anime, Fudo and Desumi try to find different ways to go on dates by coming up of contrived ways to go places like an amusement park or the beach (because what rom-com would it be without a beach episode, am I right?), but they are able to convince them because they have such sway within their respective organisations. It works though because of the light hearted tone this series sets. It just wants to have fun with itself and this reflects with the shows comedy and story. Here is how each episode is set up, so just go and enjoy yourself with how you go about it.

With the story itself, there isn’t really much there. The whole Power Rangers setting is mainly played in the background as it is mainly just that, the setting for the show. It’s used as that Romeo and Juliet style setup to establish the main hook that Fudo and Desumi are on opposite sides despite their affection for one another. Fudo and Desumi are already in their relationship when the show starts but are inexperienced when it comes to romance. But what I think this show does subtly well is how comfortable Fudo and Desumi slowly become with each other throughout the course of the show. You see it throughout the show from when they start being embarrassed of how to do this right to by episode 10, you can see how they have become a great duo and are able to be themselves more and more. They do throw a few curveballs in there to test their relationship but I’ll save that for the characters section because it does do good for character development.

Characters: 8.5/10

The best part of this show is its characters. Both the main cast and the supporting cast are delightful and give this show life. Fudo and Desumi really make a good couple together despite their obvious differences. Fudo is a workout-holic but with a heart of gold and is not the type of person to back down. Full of determination and only needs slight encouragement from the people around him to get him motivated. Desumi is a sweet and cute girl who is mindful of others, but is super strong and is only really working for Gekko because of her parents. On paper, it doesn’t seem like there is a lot of depth to them, but when they get tested, it does bring the best of them and it does make you legit believe that these two care for each other and wants to find ways to make this relationship work. What results is one of the best couples this season and just seeing them get more and more comfortable with each other as the season goes on makes it that much better.

But it’s not just them that makes this section of the anime great, the supporting cast as well makes it great and they each get their moment to shine. Both members of Gelato 5 and Gekko have characters that are both likeable and entertaining. The members of Gelato 5 and Gekko may fall into archetypes you would expect with a Power Rangers setup but they at honour their role to an entertaining degree. The best part about it however is their chemistry and how they gel well with one another. You do get a good sense of comradely and friendship between one another and some of their interactions can be funny. For example, the brief yet entertaining interactions between Gelato 2, Hayato Oujino and Beast Princess, Kiki Majima. These little moments are scattered throughout the show and help make this more entertaining than it should be.

Animation: 6/10

I definitely like the art style and the aesthetics. They nailed the look of a super sentai Power Rangers show with the shows looks as well as the character designs making them stand out from one another and help correlate with their personalities and if the objective was to make Desumi as cute as hell, then I think they did that despite her skimpy looking design. That aspect the show nails down well, it’s just when it comes to animating where it we get some issues. It doesn’t feel like they cheap out to a ridiculous degree but there multiple times in this show where they clearly didn’t put much effort in to animate it and use sliding images or shaky camera to give that appearance. It’s a shame because they’ve proven in this series that they can do it, look at the fight between Desumi and Haru in episode four and you can see that they can do it, it’s just that they don’t do it consistent enough.

Sound: 6.5/10

Very thematic with the tone of the show. Like the art style, I think it does a good job of capturing the spirit of super sentai Power Rangers during the shows fights. When it comes to down time, it does carry it’s own varied tracks to match the tone but it doesn’t stand out as much when compared to the energy filled tracks the show provides. Even then, that’s if they play something in the background. Half the time, it’s silence; which usually happens in between the shows more important scenes. Obviously, you aren’t going to hear the ost throughout the entire episode but it feels like it stands out more in this show than other shows. It is a solid soundtrack overall even if most of it is something I will quickly forget.

The OP sound like a combination of a light-hearted, romantic show and a super sentai opening. Titled, Koi wa Explosion" by Masayoshi Ooish, it does a good job of capturing the tone and the theme of the show of romantic Power Rangers using a song that captures the spirit of both type of shows. The visuals do lean to being more of a super sentai show but there are scenes to show off the romantic angle and the song does more than enough to carry the weight. Overall, a solid opening.

In my opinion, the ED, "Koi wa Sekai Teiri to Tomoni" by DIALOGUE+, had one objective, to make Desumi as cute as we can possibly make her. Did they succeed? Yes, yes they did. While there isn’t much there in the animation department, the art still does a good job of making Desumi cuter than she already is with the song helping for the ED to move at a nice pace. It’s just a sweet ED to make Desumi cuter.

Conclusion

Love After World Domination is a fun show that uses it’s gimmicks to create an experience that was worth sitting down and watching. It’s fun and likeable cast of characters combined with the shows themes and aesthetics makes for an anime that can be loved, even if your not familiar with super sentai types of shows. Because unlike Miss Kuroitsu from last season where the genre was so ingrained into that show, this type of show treats it like you don’t need to be a fan to enjoy it. It’s used as a theme to tell a sweet Romeo and Juliet type story about two people on opposite sides falling in love with one another. Could we have had more in the story department and better production values? Sure, but what we got was good enough to be recommend for anyone looking for a fun rom-com and in a season full of them, this one is worth it.

My Personal Enjoyment: 8/10

Overall Score: 7.2/10 Recommendation: Watch It
