Reviews for World's End Harem
Back to Anime*Implicit spoilers ahead* I'm expecting a surge of reviews with ratings 4 and lower to be the dominant force in this review section, and whilst there is a lot about World's End Harem to dislike, to the point in which I can very well do the same, I come here showing what's good about the show. I mean, I watch anime to enjoy it, if I don't like it I kinda just turn it off, y'know? Despite being something to not take entirely seriously, I'm not very cynical with anime like these. My standards aren't too high as well. The good thing to talk about here isthe idea. Well, maybe not crawling into the sociopolitical side of things but the very concept is interesting enough. In a world where operation man bad is a success, we are met with a few individuals who seemingly forgot to turn off noclip virus consequently resulting in them going into a world where, well, there's not a lot of men strolling around. It does seem like self-insert bait, only proven by that one guy who basically sells that idea without fail, but we will get into more of that later. Though it should be noted that it isn't all as fantastical as it makes itself seem to be. There is a serious problem with men disappearing here, there's no way humanity can last without men (at least not with this anime's current technology, but that goes off on a tangent because you should see the technology there lol). The anime, although slightly forgetting a few thousand times about its own premise, does make actually put this theme into good use. Y'know, the characters do indeed attempt to revert the setting back to a more ideal surrounding rather than embracing wish-fulfilment. The pacing makes this ever so slow but it does get more and more interesting as episodes pass. With all the other pieces in the shadow, be it side character motivations or missing plot points, you are left wondering what more could happen in this weird world. I didn't think it'd be that decent, but hey, here we are, the writers know how to not forget about a premise.
Aside from the whole fixing the virus thing, another cool part of this story is that one self-insert dude. He reminds me of Keyaruga from Redo Of Healer because his process is the exact same thing only it starts from about episode 3 (I don't remember) to the end of this show. For the sake of your memory, he will be called Megane, because honestly, it was hard remembering his name despite having episodes all to himself. Megane had a very interesting development, for the most part, going into the depth I would have never thought an anime like this would have done. From honesty and love to a more sinister dude, reflecting on all of his actions along the way, I kinda liked how he changed as a character in this world. The same is true for that other guy, No.2 he's called. Although he didn't get the spotlight like Megane, his reflection on the current situation was impressive in a time when people cared about him. Like this dude swoops low at one point, you will know what I mean when you get there. But yeah, the change is pretty crazy and would make sense in a world where it is encouraged to orgasm more times than you've been told by someone that they were doin' your mom. It also just occurred to me that you could actually be doing someone's mom if hypothetically you were situated in this scenario. That's kinda wild.
Anyway, the main main guy. Reito. He's that pure-hearted "I don't really touch boobs" kinda guy who I can actually have some respect for in his quest to save the world. When I say pure-hearted, it is extreme here, dude abstains from the entire world for some one girl who herself is committing some various acts of extremism. It's kinda wild but I will tell you now that at least he isn't all that uninteresting and has motivations to do something about the situation at hand, which is cool I guess.
Anyway, that's all I have to say about the anime, it gets a little philosophical with existentialism rubbish, there are too many unintentionally funny moments to count, and well, if that doesn't float your boat, at least it is ecchi if you want nothing more than that.
I forgot to mention, that Suou Mira is best girl, a real sweetheart. If she isn't your best girl we have some talking to do.
Anyways, 8/10, although that's a little too nice of me in hindsight. Oh well.
What is the first thing you think about when you see a show like this? "Oh god, what a trash", "This can't be serious" or "Just another hentai dressed as anime"? Let me tell you, it was the same with me, until I actually watched it. Because this show is finally something that can achieve greatness with a such hentai-like story. "Our protagonist wakes up in a world, where men are almost extinct and he has to reproduce in order to save humanity". Even though the sitation is not likely, or let's just say impossible to happen, the atmosphere itself is quite serious. Relevant problems andhardships of women are depicted, while never losing the focus of the inner struggles of the protagonist as well.
And when we're talking about the protagonist: Already after watching one episode, you will notice that the director intended to make this a more mature and not-hentai-like show. The protagonist doesn't just want to mindlessly fuck every woman he sees. He is searching for his love, while trying to be as true to his morals as possible. Even though this makes him a rather unnatural and unrealistic teenage boy, it is certainly necessary. If this would be a real life teenager, all we would see is sex after sex with every possible woman he encounters.
But yeah, nudity and sex can't be completely avoided. And the "lustful teenager" aspect ,as previously mentioned, doesn't disappear (the protagonist is probably the only one who has a different mindset): There is a guy, who embraces this situation and is happy to reproduce with every woman. Fortunately, since the focus is not on him, it only adds to the ambience of the story. Though it could be a bit less.
In other aspects, the show also does fairly well. The animation is very nice with no 3D shit. The voice actors are not bad and music/sound effects are certainly above average.
So after all this is said and done, my final message is: Give it a try! You will honestly be surprised, especially if you start the show with no standards in mind
This story the World's End Harem, is just a male sexual fantasy of 5 billion women would be thirsty for sex, because a virus named MK has destroyed almost every man on the face of the earth. If this anime was an erotic comedy, it would definitely be one of the funnest of the year. However, here they try to sell the idea that this is a serious story and that all humanity depends on a man's sperm in order to restore normalcy. It's comical, as the protagonist is still in love with the girl he confessed to before he was cryogenically for 5 years,so he refuses to have sex with any other girl. I really thought this plot was really bad. As I said earlier if it was an erotic comedy it would have been much better.
First, there was Ishuzoku Reviewers a.k.a Interspecies Reviewers, which marked the new 2020s decade of nuttiness, uncensored harem and ecchi glorified for all Men of Culture. Then, there was Kaifuku Jutsushi no Yarinaoshi a.k.a Redo of Healer, which marked 2021 with an outrageous revenge story, harem and ecchi uncensored if you wish to see all the pain and burn from an objectively wrecked MC. Now, there is the trash of harem anime: Shuumatsu no Harem a.k.a World's End Harem, which marks the brand new year of 2022 of the same feeling you got from Redo of Healer, except that if you'd put the current world events intoll, you'll have the same objectivity.
Yes that's right, COVID (and now Omicron) has struck this anime, delaying it by a season to finally air right smack in the new year of 2022, and I feel like this is more than just a karma that every Winter season since 2020 has to have at least one Ecchi show to stand out (before the pandemic-that-must-not-be-named turned the world upside down). And for the brand new butt-spanking new year of the evolved Omicron variant, comes Shuumatsu no Harem, the apocalyptical, man's wet fantasy dream version of our current world if the "World's End" Times have already dropped upon us with Jesus coming down from Heaven to give His judgment, saying: "From now on, thou Omicron virus shall oust all Adams, leaving more than enough for all the Eves of the world, and I'm only leaving a million perfect Adams for all the 7 million Eves out there to get the harem SEGGS on for the End Times...enjoy and bon appétit!"
And that is what mangaka LINK (not THAT Link from The Legend of Zelda) has basically concocted an idea that preceded the "World's End" time we're living in now: this potentially lethal, life-threatening and contagious Male Killer (MK) Virus, which was indoctrinated by the UW (United Women), caused an androcide (meaning the systematic killing of men, boys, or males in general), leaving only the majority of women left with a million men in the world whom are so VERY lucky to be put into cryostasis as a means to treat their "rare" diseases before the world ejected into women-only lockdown. Focusing on Japan, there are but only 5 men whom survived the incident, and since every UW has a regional branch located in each part of the world, the Japanese Division labels these men as "Numbers" to keep track of their progress into this conspicuous breeding program by having sex with as many women as possible regardless of circumstances. In my own opinion, this story would've made sense years ago around its publishing start in mid-2016, and since mangaka LINK is still working on the many Shuumatsu no Harem series like the sequel After World, canon Fantasia and the recently ended spin-off Britannia Lumiére, it's definitely a unique manga series...if you have trash taste, or have nothing else to read in your spare time.
Let's Seggs-way to the characters, and for good or for worse, you decide.
The first man encountered is No. 2 of 5, Reito Mizuhara. Living with his childhood friend Erisa Tachibana and having the dream to be a scientific researcher, Reito is a pure Mummy's boy if you will: he's dedicated to Erisa, and will only want to have sex with the girl he loves. Despite being traumatized by the fact that he's the first guy to ever get a peek of the outside world of Japan where only women roamed the streets, he is determined not as a breeder of women, but to breed a cure for the MK Virus, which works the opposite way as intended to get some attention and find his sister Erisa in the process. His attendant is Mira Suou, a girl whom looks like Erisa, and has a calm exterior to her name. She can be sweet if you let her, but she is pertinent to have second thoughts about getting it on with Reito, even if she looked like Erisa at first glance. In a situation like this, I know that a lot of people will chastise Reito for his decision to only make love to Erisa, so much so that he's one tub of a boring turd. But it's after all those events where he'll become useful...after the adapted events of the anime, that is if you can tolerate trash incoming.
The second man is No. 1 of 5, Hino Kyouji. He's the definition of a lustful and hedonistic man whom gleams at a women-only world to take on sexual activities with them in law and order benefitting the women and the man in tow...if he just follows orders and does what is intended to live his wildest dreams. He's not that all interesting, or should I say, the men's wannabe of a popular male enough to have girls worth surrounding his ass at every corner. His attendant is Neneko Isurugi, and is just like him being goal-oriented at being yet another lust-filled character. Just meh.
The third man is No. 3 of 5, Doi Shouta. And out of the 3 males that are extensively covered in the anime, he's the best written and liked of the trio, as his story is like Reito's, only if you inject much of the cynicism of Redo of Healer's MC Keyaru wanting a dark fantasy, revenge-filled life of mockery as the superior man on Earth. Being a behind-the-scenes good-gifted boy like any other goody-two-shoes attitude person, I feel like I have a kindred spirit for this boy whom was bullied all his life, and he was waiting for the exact moment to get his revenge on his tormentors which developed his PTSD, on top of being someone struck by mutiple sclerosis and in need of cryostasis. Fortunately, with the cryostasis, Doi was able to wake up into the World's End circumstance of the world only filled with women, and this was his chance of redemption that he could be worth a likable character to the girls that he'd never have met before. Doi's journey is a combination of the good parts of Reito and Hino: staying true to his first love, his teacher Yuzuki Hanyu, but also adhering to the UW's commands through his attendant Karen Kamiya, whom promises that the school that was specially made for Doi becomes a mating ground, the grandest of what Hino had and what he could potentially do to get the girls on and live out the "kind-hearted" world that he so desperately seeked for. Honestly, Doi Shouta is a chad that deserves to be preserved as a fine "Number" specimen (since 3's the (Lucky) Charm number).
Now for the girls, or should I rather say, the partners alongside the Numbers.
Starting off with No. 2 Reito, other than the childhood friend Erisa, you have his originally designated attendant Mira Suou (replaced by Rea Katagiri once higher-ups deem that her purpose was lost), nurse Akane Ryuzoji (whom her mother Kihara is part of the UW Japanese Division's upper management), child Sui Yamada whom has the obscene strength equal to a bear, and researcher Maria Kuroda whom is also seeking the MK Virus's origins as a virologist. Honest to God, not a bad diversity team of sorts as the research function to question UW about the MK Virus, but it can seem like an exercise in frustration.
No. 1 Hino has attendant Neneko Isurugi, the former UW actress Rena Kitayama and the bunch of other girls that I prefer not to waste my breath on, this group just feels tacked on without any clear thought, other than to add a Number onto the list of surviving men to speed the breeding process. Just self-indulgence covered and smeared in selfishness and self-centredness, pure wasted and contrived effort.
No. 3 Doi, once again, earns yet another deserved W for the girls that support his ideology of a women-only world, ruled by a man. Attendant Karen Kamiya who's free-and-easy, his real world teacher Yuzuki Hanyuu which supported him through his traumatic times, the once similarly bullied Shunka Hiiragi, rich girl Natsu Ichijou, athlete Akira Toudou, and the child-like Chifuyu Rain Kuroda, this is a team of girls that given the choice to have the harem of seggs with, this would indefinitely be my team of choice. As I mentioned earlier, the school that was specially tailored made for Doi's development, shows that these girls are more than just tickling fancies for the white-haired chad, and that Doi could actually live out a perfectly normal school life if given the right circumstances. Doi being led by Karen to do things that he wants to do, free and easy, along with the harem of girls that don't mind his undivided attention...be truthful to yourself: if you were in Doi's shoes, you would be a happy man with boobs and sex everyday with girls that love you with all their heart, soul, mind and strength.
I'm quite surprised that Studio Gokumi has chosen to do this seemingly controversial work, as do most of the studio's collab works with AXsiZ, and given how much this was anticipated back in Fall 2021, the pushback to Winter 2022 because of the need to "closely examine" the anime's production, certainly hurt the anime community's interest as a whole as it was largely forgotten. Reasons being from that Fall 2021 being a hugely stacked season, to only if you'd realized that this show is coming back the season after to complete the rest of its broadcast after the special hour-long Episodes 1 and 2 were scruitinized heavily and reception turned sour thereafter. Director Yuu Nobuta is hands down one of the most average directors with little hits (Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear) and many misses (Maesetsu! and Saihate no Paladin to name a few), and you can count Shuumatsu no Harem on the "miss" side of things as the anime production is just simply abysmal at best. I'd expected at least Queen Bee or even Collaboration Works (the best Hentai studio of the lot) like quality, but what I got is something produced by sub-standard producers like Milky's early days, and that says quite a lot. I feel bad, at least for illustrator Kotaro Shouno, because her craft as a Doujin hentai/ecchi artist is sublime given her prose works from 2009 to 2016 (before jumping onto Shuumatsu no Harem), and to see it all wasted with the anime, it hurts deep inside.
To edge the knife into the wound deeply even further, there are 4 versions of the anime:
- The complete censorship (as you'd see on an official licensee i.e. Crunchyroll) with black bars that at times made the anime almost completely unwatchable;
- The semi-uncensored version as broadcasted on AT-X, same 24 minute runtime as the complete censored version but you can at least see boobs and only boobs;
- The "Super Harem" version that airs alongside the semi-uncensored version, but a bit longer and uses the same black bars to censor away all the naughty private parts during sex;
- And last but not least, the BD version which is just basically the "Super Harem" version converted into a full Hentai, totally uncensored.
Basically, to get the most enjoyment out of Shuumatsu no Harem, someone better be off buying the BDs, doing the work equivalent of fansubs, and uploading it onto a Hentai website so all of us Men of Culture can enjoy. What a headache.
And if you think I can't complain anymore, there's the music, which is just about as subpar as the entirety of the show itself. For one, H-el-ical//'s OP I can accept, at least THAT is a good OP to match with the themes of the show, but EXiNA's ED is just plain bad, there's no excitement, even from an ending song that has a song calibre that thinks it's as good, but has no punch (or lack thereof) to it.
All in all, my typical Spidey senses would recommend for you to go read LINK's manga (or better case, the other series) for better or for worse, but unless you're really someone whom can tolerate trash (I know I used to), then this series would just be your good-ol' fashion sense of a poison. If given a chance to re-do the entire production from scratch, I'd say that what came out of the advanced pre-screening back in end-September through Kadokawa's YouTube channel should have been a red flag to choose not to continue with the production at all. This show literally was a waste of time, even watching it semi-uncensored, because it could not live up to the trash manga's "superiority" at all.
My final verdict would be to say that just watch any well-known Hentai series, and I guarantee you'd have better time spent watching quality and not crap like this. Now I'd feel like I want to spend yet another 4.5 hours just to re-watch the BD version once it gets fansubbed to cleanse my eyes from this pile of turd and satisfy my inner sword for fap enjoyment values. Someone PLEASE buy the BDs and do a service for us, then I'll flip that atrocious score around.
In terms of being a fan service anime, honestly I think this was a massive disappointment. Heck, Sono Bisque Doll (My Dress-up Darling) from the same season is substantially better as a fan service anime, albeit having no seggs. I really don't understand what this anime was trying to achieve. It was trying too hard in the worldbuilding department while showing non-stop seggs every single episode. As a result, it failed to deliver neither successful plot nor satisfying lenny faces. Story 4/10 I'm gonna be honest here - it did somehow manage to make me a bit intrigued at first - which didn't last long.Story involving Mizuhara Reito was boring af. This mf refused to have seggs for some genuinely stupid reasons when he is literally one of the very few living men on earth. Instead, he tries to uncover the 'secret' of MK virus/UW and... guess what, the anime ended before he could try anything.
Meanwhile, Doi Shota's evolution from a virign to a chad (literally, not metaphorically) was actually entertaining. Maybe, just maybe, if he was the true MC of this anime, it would have been rated higher.
With 11 episodes only, rushed storyline and inconclusive finale was inevitable. Despite having watched numerous rushed shows and being used to it, I don't intend to give this an exemption.
Art 3/10
Yes. Uncensored nipples. But that's it. No cock. This ain't a hentai. Nowhere near as explicit as those. Low budget and unsatisfying quality. I used to watch tons of fan service anime before and no, this is not really up to standard I'm used to.
Sound 6/10
I was subtly surprised at how the OST fit well in some scenes.
I skipped almost every ED, but OP was cool.
Character 3/10
Fuck Reito.
Doi is the better one. Not enough to undo my score though.
Enjoyment 4/10
Well, it failed as a fan service anime. Did I enjoy the story then? Not really.
Overall 4/10
Don't watch it if you are looking for the plot or the "plot."
It's not worth your time.
If you want some fan service, watch My Dress-up Darling. It's miles better. Or maybe To-love Ru from more than a decade ago. I'll guarantee you that's a better choice.
If you want good story, well... I don't think you are here for that, right?
Shuumatsu no Harem is a series that when I read the synopsis I really thought it was going to be a dumpster fire, however as I watched the series I really got interested in the plot and it was more enjoyable that I thought it would be even if I wasn't expecting much at the beginning. It was kinda interesting seeing different point of views in how to act between the different guys. Reito, instead of having sex as he was told to in the first place, decides to search for the girl he loves and also to create a cure for the MK Virus, anddecides to not have sex with every girl he meets. Hino who is very happy as to how he can have sex with basically any girl he wants in this situation, so he is fine with doing what he was told to. And Doi, who started as a middle point between the other two as shy but still willing to have sex, probably he is the character that developed the most by turning very different in personality for the best or for the worst for some.
Not much to say about the girls, most of them are there to have sex and not many have remarkable personalities or looks, the girl I will definitely remember the most is Karen, but she won't be remembered for the best reasons, but that is what made her remarkable to me.
The story gets somewhat interesting after a while, but the pacing is a little slow due to changing between point of views since Reito's pov is the one that is the most focused on moving forward the plot while Doi's pov make it pretty stall plot wise but focusing more on his development.
All in all, the series has an actual plot instead of what I was expecting at the beginning. I had some laughs here and there and there was a high amount of ecchi which is good for me.
Thank you for reading.
The story opens up with two young medical researchers walking to the lab. Mizuhara Reito and Elisa Tachibana have known each other since they were children. There is an obvious connection between the two but it has never been acted on until this day. Reito finally confesses his love to Elisa but it may be too late. Reito was recently diagnosed with “Cellular Sclerosis” a disease that will kill him if he is not placed into cryosleep. Oh Yeah! I should probably back up and tell you that World’s End Harem takes place in the year 2040, and there have been so many technological advancementsthat humanity is on the way to creating a human utopia. Humans don’t have to worry about diseases because you can simply go into cryosleep until the cure for any disease is found. That doesn’t help our main character Reito. He just opened his heart to the girl he has loved his whole life, and with at least 5 years of cryosleep ahead of him who knows if she will wait for him?
Fast forward to Reito waking up from cryosleep. After many tests and checks, the doctor gives Reito a clean bill of health, but something is wrong. Reito notices that there are no men and that’s when Mira Suou, Reito’s assigned caretaker, breaks the news to him. In the 5 years that Reito was in cryosleep a virus that came to be known as the MK Virus wiped out 99.9 percent of the world’s male population. The newly formed United Women have become the ruling government and plan to restore the human population using 5 men who they believe are immune to the Man Killer Virus! Reito is 1 of those 5 men and it’s time for him to pick thousands of women to impregnate. Reito is not worried about any of that because Elisa has been missing for two years!
Reito is given the opportunity to have any women he wants and like a true gentleman, he resists. Reito is a one-woman man in a world where thousands of women are throwing themselves at him. One of the last men on earth still believes in true love. This makes Mizuhara Reito a very admirable character. Join him as he resists temptation and searches for his soulmate Elisa, who may have some more information on what’s causing the MK virus. I am praising the plot but don’t worry World’s End Harem is filled with fan service.
Hentai the anime I guess. At first it seemed irritating and obvious how the story was going to develope but when I watched a couple of episodes, it seems with more characters it's more tolerable. MC is annoying as hell but the other male characters seem mildly interesting. All the female characters are a bit one dimensional except the caretaker of the MC. Very much a power fantasy for men which I'm not too sure how I feel about. At least they have a couple of different male stereotypes to choose from I guess. I don't know who to recommend this to but it's not completelyunwatchable. Mediocre as hell.
As a feminist, I truly did enjoy this anime. It spoke to me on a personal level and I could really relate to the situation our cast finds themselves in. The usage of men in this anime was quite phenomenal. using them as breeding machines improves the world by creating social segregation of sex and gender, which as a feminist I quite relate to as I identify myself with at least 3 different genders. I loved the part where they showed how absolute shit the world became after every man died. It truly showed men's contribution to society and how dependent we truly are onthem (as breeding machines).
The American feminist woman with the big titties definitely shows and represents a lot of modern cancel culture within feminism, which I truly loved. Like how in episode 5 she threatened to cancel Mizuhara Reito if he did not keep quiet That was truly a #WomanMoment
Would absolutely recommend this to every woman in the world. Fantastic
10/10

This might be the smartest written harem anime I have ever seen. I actually liked it so much, I started reading the manga. While a bunch of reviews just dismiss this show as a shameless male fantasy (It has "Harem" in the name dude, why did you even watch it then?) Honestly this show plays out more like a horror story if anything. Admittedly it does initially start with too much emphasis on the harem aspect. Instead of getting the audience invested, I think the first scene actually hurts the audience's first impression by misconstruing the tone of the series. There's a lot to appreciate pastthat.
The story follows 2 main characters. Both are 1 of 5 remaining men on the planet capable of surviving the airborne virus which wiped out all men on Earth. As such, they are the only ones capable of repopulating the Earth. At first, you would think that sounds like the setup for a hentai, but the show doesn't take that approach. Instead the show subtly focuses on how much it would actually affect the mental health, and lives of those men. The world is painted as a futuristic utopia that is gradually falling apart. Infrastructure is falling apart, but you see it from the perspective of these men, who are more or less held captive by the government, and treated like breeding livestock. While they are given luxuries nobody in the ghettos can afford, it's only for the sole sake of keeping these men productive and compliant.
Both of the main characters awake from cryosleep 5 years after the disaster. The first character wants a normal life, and to just be with the woman he loves, who went missing during his time asleep. Meanwhile the world around him is constantly trying to pressure him into mating, with the weight of the entire species on his shoulders.
The second character the show follows is thrust into a fake school, meant solely for coercing him into producing offspring - A school he cannot leave. The entire situation has been fabricated by his personal assistant, Kamiya Karen. Karen is EASILY the best character in the show, and she steals the show anytime she's on screen. Karen is almost a representation for the Devil. At face value, she seems like this cute, exuberant, enthusiastic girl. But slowly you come to find out who she really is. She manipulates everything behind the scenes, and doesn't seem to care about anybody. People are tools to her, and are only useful if they can be used to advance her in her ambitions. You watch her gradually break the mind of the second main character from the sidelines, and erode his own morality. Everything is by her design. I really enjoyed her character.
So hopefully I've piqued your interest. This series has a lot more to offer than just fanservice. Go into the series imagining this to be reality, and you start feeling the sense of dread and hopelessness the show tries to convey.
I had my hopes high when i first watched the preview episode that was aired. It was kinda good and the story was appalling at first, then came the second episode and i swear ive never been this bored. Instead of wasting time on something like this, just watch a hentai. Its much better and with decent story and overall okayish characters. This anime was a torture, they are trying to make it into something it isnt and of course the main character is an idiot who wants to stay pure so he can fuck his lover and lose virginity to her.
Much better than expected, I want a new season for now! My expectation when starting to see this anime was basically none, I expected to see something like a base story as an excuse to have ecchi and fanservice in the anime, luckily I was wrong. The main plot is a very promising premise, that's what captivated me to start watching the anime, and the anime conveyed everything I wanted to pass on to the viewer, when I watch an anime I don't stick to technical questions to evaluate if it's good or if it's bad, in this case I think that if the technical productionwas better crafted and the budget was a little bigger, it would be one of the best anime of the genre, without any exaggeration. Do you know what makes an anime good or not? If you feel embraced by the work. The characters aren't superficial and I can say that they were well written, as each character doesn't seem to be there just to fill the space needed for a plot to move forward, many well-rated anime these days don't have such a good job done on them. regarding character development and conveying to the viewer what the work really wants to make you feel.
I found the main plot extremely captivating, it's the type of work that when you start watching and go through the episodes puts you several questions in mind and it becomes unpredictable what will happen next, I really enjoyed watching the progress of the story.
If you asked me if it's worth watching, I would easily say yes, since it's a very easy work to be interpreted by the viewer, the scenes really cause an emotional impact in addition to being interesting all the conspiracy that occurs within the anime. the anime uses ecchi as a tool for the story to progress instead of being there for pure fan service, I can't imagine this work without ecchi, for me it's essential in this work and I'm very sad to see people rate this anime so poorly for that reason, while several works much less worked and with much more forced ecchi with such a higher note.
A big surprise for me.
I recommend this anime, however, the "ecchi" genre is not very accepted by the community, due to the excessive fanservice in the works, and the "true fans" of these works strongly defend it and cite coherence, tolerance and necessity in them, but what can you do! Well, where do I start... Well, first, let's talk about the beginning. In the beginning, honestly, the anime gave me a lot of expectations, because it showed an interesting plot based on futuristic science fiction, a coherent story and characters with non-robotic personalities. But after the twist, it simply became a scoundrel, one dirty trick after another, this anime ispractically a hentai, and I almost dropped it because of that. But as the story went on, I became more attracted to the development of the anime, because the bullshit started to decrease and began to focus on the main plot. The anime is interesting, and due to its open ending, it hinted that there will be a sequel, and I hope for a sequel next year, but despite the rating on MAL, it will be another distant dream for me and many other viewers. But what can we do, all we can do is dream.
What was the point of this show ? A story about how suddenly a virus wipes out a part of humanity. Said Humanity, tries to encapsulate said "wiped out part" as "numbers". From the first EP to the ending EP, I saw a numbwitted MC being a child till the end. The only one to develop a decent charisma got little to no screentime. The girls were well artistic but lackluster Honestly, you could had watched porn and called it a day.Even hentai have better story with actual "plot" to go with.
What an eyesore of a show and what a waste of time.
You've heard the term 'Down-bad', the definition of which being: "When someone is depressingly horny", now get ready for 'Down-good', when something good comes out of being depressingly horny. World's End Harem, or Shuumatsu no Harem as referred to in Japan, is a good example of how to utilize harem in a story fashion, and to develop on characters. Through the series we watch a world in aftermath from a catastrophe, wiping out all but 5 men on earth leaving 4 billion women behind. Of course, like any normal story utilizing this concept, you would have a lot of foolery and fornication, but what you donot normally get is a writer utilizing this concept to expand its story further, towards the characters and even towards politics, introducing alien concepts to the genre of Harem, such as terrorism, corruption, and even a lead to a full conclusion resulting in not only the peace of the main character but to every character. Great examples of this at work is during the latter half of the series with Doi Shouta, who starts off the typical virgin in a school, getting nowhere in relationships and everywhere in school, y'know, the archetype for bullied kid, but is later on in the series given development showing his change and adjustment to the mold this world has given him to fit into, making Doi Shouta into the kind of person whom he previously so hated, and feeds his newly found desires.
Something else in World's End Harem you have to applaud is its character dynamic. When given a generic concept you can expect a generic character dynamic, protagonist to antagonist, side character to protagonist, side villain to antagonist, et cetera. But what Shuumatsu gives you is the kind of twists in the plot needed to give it a proper mix and combination to really 'wow' you and give you that familiar sense of shock and realization, reflecting upon the details up to that moment and realizing how everything changed so suddenly and so smooth.
However, these overwhelming positive facts are yet unable to cover up what has failed to change, zero personality. While Shuumatsu attempts to deliver a healthy dose of difference and change during its short span of 11 episodes, it is unable to make up for the lack of originality in the overall concept and TRULY spice things up, I could watch the show over and over and never get a shred of content that makes me think: "Yep, that's Shuumatsu no Harem for you.", and more "This is a less brutal Redo of Healer", because as it stands, Shuumatsu no Harem is forgettable and just as it proclaims itself to be, a Harem about the end of the world.
Ok, so my review may have been a month late.....but, let's just cut the crap.... So, Shuumatsu no Harem, wtf was studio , "Studio Gokumi and AXsiZ" thinking when they decided to make an anime of such very pathetic manga adaptation, honestly, the manga itself was bad and this being adapted to an anime was just as worse as the manga itself and not to mention as worse as the one who created it an individual maned "LINK", so let's get down to brass tax: Story-Pathetic 1: Ok, so the plot was set in some sort of dystopian future where at first two protagonist where diagnosed withsome kind of rear disease (leave it to them Japs to come out with some kind of mysterious sickness), one is a super genius college undergrad Mizuhara, Reito and a wussy Highschooler " Doi, Shouta" were made to undergo cryogenic sleep for 5 years only to be awoken to a future where a kind of pandemic almost wipe out the entire male population....with the two being awoken their drafted to bang hot babes in order to repopulate the world.....Well, that was the plan , until we're made to know that the ones who created that so called pandemic using an MK Virus were a group of lesbian higher ups, who were they, we weren't in the know...at least in this anime.....but what really makes this anime's story plot sooo lame was that the plot itself was more like created to be a "Hentai" than anything else, the only way that they didn't make this as a "Hentai" was how the first MC doesn't have balls to fuck his harem , while the wussy highschooler did, starting with his MILF teacher to his classmates....IMAO, doing it such only adds insult to injury to this series as a whole.
Art-Very Good 8: Who among them doggies doesn't like a good eye candy like those female cast? C'mon, doggies like all the fan services that comes with this anime....that's why this series should be a "Hentai" than anything else.
Sound-fair 6: Who give a fuck as to who did who, when it was the fan services that were the stars of this anime?
Character- Pathetic 1: Ok, let's go over the two male protagonist:
Mizuhara, Reito and harem: We have a guy here who can be called aa "Gay" but he isn't really gay, it's just that him not wanting to bang any of his harem and protects his Virgin card was just too stupid, in fact he is the very definition of being anti climatic given that he collapse when is was about to be banged by Akane Ryuuzouji , now him not wanting to give in to the dark side of having his cherries popped was simply unforgivable given that if this were hentai having a character like him would surely put a damper in watching it....
Doi, Shouta and harem- Now his is what was expected, thought it would have been nice if he also gets to do his female lacky Karen Kamiya.
Enjoyment-Pathetic 1: Cu'z it was very clear as to which episode's that puts a damper to your libido and that would be the episodes that has Reito in it, while there were episode's that really boost your libido and , yes it is with Doi.
Overall-pathetic 1: Let's face it , this :INK character whoever he is, was juts one individual who at first would wanna tickle your sexual desires and then when things gets excited, that's were the damper happens.......pretty much not something , I would recommend , when there were episodes where Reito is around.
Humanity gets FUCKED! As a lover of ecchi anime I was really hoping that Worlds End Harem would become a new guilty pleasure of mine like High School DxD and Chivalry of a Failed Knight. It’s first episode which aired in October of 2021 set up an interesting story premise where after 5 years of cryogenic sleep, main harem portag-kun Reito Mizuhara awakens to a world where 99.9% of the world’s male population has been wiped out by a virus leaving only women. Now a valuable resource for repopulating the world he is given the task to have sex with as many women as possible. Howeverhe refuses to do so until he finds his childhood sweetheart and thus ecchi harem anime clichés ensue.
Straight off the bat I’m going to say that Reito Mizuhara is one of the most frustratingly annoying harem protagonists I have ever watched. His goal of finding his childhood friend who's name I literally can’t remember and fucking her first is portrayed as a noble one, which would be fine in any other story. However, in this specific context there is literally no reason for him not to fuck as many of the women that are quite literally thrown and are throwing themselves at him outside of that one goal. In fact he is arguably morally and ethically obligated to doggy-style, 69, tit-fuck, missionary, deep-throat, reverse cowgirl, Wheelbarrow, face-off, Leap frog, spread eagle, notebook and scoop me up as many women as he possibly can for the sake of humanity. He doesn’t even know if childhood friend is even alive to justify his lack of action. His mysterious assistant Mira Suou looks exactly like his childhood friend yet he doesn’t even notice let alone question why that is. That’s defiantly not going to be plot relevant or anything.
It’s boringly predictable plot and characters aside, the art looks pretty good when the characters aren’t moving, but the actual animation is noticeably janky expect for… the boobs, and even then it’s not really any better than your average hentai. This becomes particularly noticeable around episode 3 and 4 when Shouta Doi is introduced. The way he walks looks more like a robot disguised as a human and the women’s faces tend to fall off model making the ecchi scenes even more uncomfortable than they already are.
Hell the only likeable character in this show is Kyouji Hina who is framed like an early arc villain when he’s introduced, but it turns out he’s just a dude who’s been given a once in a life time opportunity to fuck all the women he wants and has taken it. I can respect that.
World Ends Harem is a show that takes it’s story to seriously whilst also trying to be an ecchi anime and the result is a boring show with no substance that is not sexy which is a problem for soft-core parody porn. It’s not sexy to watch a dude get flustered and push away women who get out their boobs and literally throw themselves at him, especially when he literally has no good or moral reason not to have sex with them. It is not sexy to watch poorly animated women get out boobs for the 100th time in an episode without it going anywhere. There are many ecchi harem anime and manga which fall into the same trappings, but within the context of Worlds End Harem’s story this one really ticked me off.
When you’re in a season with My Dress up Darling which has actual sexy ecchi scenes coupled with a phenomenally organic romance story and The Case Studies of Vanitas which can be surprisingly sexy for a non-ecchi show, Worlds End Harem’s left me soft in comparison.
3/10 Wasted Potential.
The only decent plot is the one where the dude at school is basically living in a utopia, but that’s like 30% of the show. The other 70% is a boring plot where the main guy tries to fight the "villains?" while dodging all the other girls advances even when they are LITERALLY the last of the male population. I fucking hate this trope, I don’t care how much of a virgin bitch you are or if your saving your first time for some one; The entire earth is in a state of emergency and the human population is dying off, you don’t have theluxury of choice. The show acts like he's in the right but after watching the whole thing I still have no fucking idea why the "villains" are killing off all men on earth except for 5, then for some reason them trying to repopulate the Earth is evil???? If the other dude was the focus of the show it would be a hell of a lot better than what we got.
Positive things Doji: for me the best of the series, he is at least a decent character although he is a bit mediocre due to his forced development, anyway he seems to me the best of the series mainly because almost nothing is redeemable from the series Chloe: Chloe also seems very interesting to me, in fact, she seems to me the best of the entire series and the best character in fact of all this, everything focuses on the fact that we already knew her before, so discovering her true identity in my opinion was interesting She also seems to be a good antagonist, but sincethe series is over, she will remain a decent person, although I was a little disappointed with all that that she was part of the plan to exterminate men.
The villains: In my opinion they antagonized the series well
The rest: Akane, Maria, Karen and Kyoji seem decent to me and they really fulfill the role they have in the series well and some actually show some personality and charisma
the negatives
The animation: A very mediocre quality from the drawings to the low fluidity of movements
The rest of the characters: there are some that I half rescue like Akane and Karen but the rest is very mediocre and of low quality, the protagonist is flat and also hardly stars unlike several like Akane or Kyoji who at least intervene a little discreetly but decent, for the rest all at least I suppose they fulfill their role in a decent way
The ending: it was very forced, everything that happened in that ending to be at least decent should have been done in 3 chapters but everything was done only in one, this due to a very bad direction on the part of the director Yuu Nobuta
In conclusion the series was mediocre, the positive things are at most good but those good things are small details of characters, they are not even complete, on the other hand the bad ones are mostly bad but not disastrous, that's why this anime seems to me mediocre but for me the negative things are not so bad or so frequent as to call it bad, besides that no matter how small and few they are, it has good things as I already said
If you look at most of the negative reviews, they essentially read as "I came to watch a hentai and the trash character refused to have sex" If you want to purely see animated breasts go watch a hentai, this isn't that. Mind you, there's nudity in every episode as well as fan service, however there is definitely a story to be told here. The story: A few males with rare diseases are frozen so cures can be found for them, a virus dessimates the male population, a few males who were frozen are brought back later on to try and repopulate civilization. Now, that's agreat premise for all the sex you could possibly want to see but why in the world would you watch anything with a storyline, just go watch a hentai. Instead we actually get a story where, yes, we see the world trying to get the men to reproduce, 2 do and 1 doesnt. The one guy who doesn't is in love with someone who to him only a few days ago he was just with and has decided not to have sex with a bunch of women because he still loves her and wants her found.
The first guy has lots of sex with women, who we see from time to time but he really does nothing for the story because this isn't a hentai and his story is unimportant for the most part.
The 3rd man was in school, he was treated badly, now 5 years later they take all his classmates and put him in school with him. He was bullied while in school and as it's now these womens duty and only chance to have a kid most likely in their entire life they will do what they need to have a kid. This person becomes more sadistic over time as he finds he can do whatever he wants as he's 1 of 5 men alive and we see quite a bit of him because there is a story there.
Now, imagine there are 5 men in the world, what women would do in this situation if they wanted to have kids, what men in this situation would do and throw away the idea of "I just wanted to see naked women" and watch the anime.
If you want a hentai don't watch it.
If you don't want to see nudity don't watch it.
If you're interested or okay with seeing nudity as well as there being a story then watch it. It will be better than say, a monster matsume in regards to actual story.
