Reviews for The Seven Deadly Sins: Dragon's Judgement
Back to AnimeFirst let me get all these out of the way- THE BLOOD IS RED. THE ANIMATION IS DECENT BUT STILL DOES NOT BEAT THE ORIGNAL SEASON 1. PLOTWISE NO MAJOR CHANGES. Honestly, if you were a long-term nantzu no taizai fan and season 3 made you cry this is a little compensation that you can find. Is it amazing? No.Like everyone else this was one of my first shounen titles and at that point in time it was awesome but as The market became more and more saturated with shounen with similar flavor you realize nantsu no taizai was never much special,
If you were a long-term fan who has been looking forward to healing the pain of season 3 this may just do it.
If you have more than 200 + anime watched and a couple of shounen under your belt it will only be good for the first two seasons and season 3 will be basically a waste of your time and you will drop it there anyway.
If you are just getting into anime this title is an amazing place to start.
***THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS*** So, finally the 4th season of Seven Deadly Sins have hit our retinas and is is something that one can watch without getting cancer from the mere sight of it? Well yes. It is an obvious improvement form season 3. For example even though the animation might not be the greatest but it is better that what season 3 offered. Also the blood is red this time. No more nut in veins. Still the show does not meet my expectations. The story is still more of the same but it honestly started off good. The first 3 episodes were honestly fun towatch. We saw Ban enter purgatory to find Meliodas and eventually he did after almost losing his sanity in the process. We saw Escanor beat another of the Demon brother. This time it was Zeldris. He already beat Estarossa and Meliodas. And Estarossas true identity was also revealed. After the 3 fun episodes we go on an adventure that is only downhill and just plain bad. it is inconsistent, boring and a complete mess. The fight against the big bad was pretty bad and the fact that the big bad was not the true big bad was also dumb as all hell.
Animation has again been improved but it isn't on the level of season 1 and 2 yet, but it is way better than season 3. Escanors The One wasn't as cancerous in this season as in season 3. But this show still uses a lot of still images with effects to give to feeling that it moves but it really doesn't. Also the character models still do look a bit wonky at times but it isn't as bad as season 3. It had some improvement in the second half but still it sometimes looks very odd.
The ost is this time pretty nice as always, but this has one big improvement and that is the opening. The first opening of season 3 was complete shit but this time it is actually somewhat good but still could use something.
Let's just say that this is an improvement to season 3 but still feels a bit lackluster. I have enjoyed episodes 1-3 quite a lot. Like they were some of the best episodes of SDS to date in my opinion but after that it kinda felt slow. Can’t forget my biggest beef with the entire CHAOS badguy thing which was never seen again. Stupid as hell.
I would say that it is still pretty mid. It started off being fantastic but then comes 21 episodes of absolute dogshit. I would say watch the 3 first episodes and just read the manga.
It's the end of everything...that for a huge series like Nakaba Suzuki's Nanatsu no Taizai a.k.a The Seven Deadly Sins, and what a shit-ton of drama from start to finish: the strong start with A-1 Pictures and Aniplex's backing for the first 2 seasons, then the unfortunate tragedy that is the original canon movie "Prisoners of the Sky" that caused Aniplex (and subsequently A-1 Pictures) to bail because they're in the same business umbrella after the movie bombed, leaving Studio Deen and the outsourced Marvy Jack for the notoriously infamous Season 3, and that brings us here, to the final season with the same co-production,which adapts the rest of the manga not adapted yet into anime form, from where Season 3 left off and finally to the manga's true ending. WHAT A rollercoaster of a RIDE.
After the horrible disaster that is Season 3, the reason why the minority of you (me included) just want to watch this to get the entire Seven Deadly Sins adaptation done with. Everything needs no mention because seasons have carried this show for 6 to 7 years (inclusive of this final season), and it's dead obvious by this point for a former Shonen juggernaut that nowadays, series like it are rife across the board today.
At least, both Studio Deen and Marvy Jack took their time to finish this final season the "best" way they possibly can through the same subpar animation, and at least the blood is RED, not WHITE, so at least the botched "censoring" is outta the way. The OST for the final season is no doubt, great on the 2 sets of OP/EDs, though IMO Sora Amamiya's 2nd OP sure does not fit within the other song choreographies all that well. A bust on that one.
Take it or leave it that if you've come this far, your mission is one and only: finish the crap outta The Seven Deadly Sins, and be on your way, once the manga, now the anime. A conclusion that took 6.5 years to reach in animated form, with a strong high, rabbit-hole mid, and a decent ending to Nakaba Suzuki's long running-work.
Welp, a juggernaut finally put to rest in both read and watch forms.
It’s no news to anyone that’s strapping in for the final season that Nanatsu no Taizai has been considered to be going downhill after the Commandments arc, both for animation and plot reasons. In my opinion, it’s not so much that this series changed drastically after that point, although that definitely plays a role. I think it has to do with the fact that Nanatsu keeps using the same plot devices and cheap writing choices to keep it going, and the more you look at it, the more you can see the cracks showing. The result is a clusterfuck of plot armors, confusing action andforced emotional drama.
**Spoilers**
Let’s dig in the plot of this season. The plot is becoming less and less about this band of powerful fighters we’ve come to love for their unique quirks. The Holy War fight and the 3000 years flashback leave many questions to be answered: Why didn’t Zeldris talk to his father about the vampire clan? How the fuck did Gowther rewrite everyone’s memories about Estarossa with ~magic~? There are so many questions I could add that it could easily fill this text. I don’t even want to get started on Estarossa being Mael plot twist, this was the definition of ridiculously forced drama. He got his name from a puppy... a puppy. Christ.
Just as Estarossa comes to the ‘good’ side, our big baddie is revealed: the terrifying Demon King. You’d think that the final villain should surpass every previous villain’s qualities. However, the Demon King is as bland as dry corn flakes at 6 am. He has no motivation besides ‘more power’, no backstory, no important relationship to understand his character. He’s just the shallowest villain you can get that only says the same generic quotes about defeating the MCs. As the final arc progresses, the author repeatedly makes you think the story is wrapping up, only to say ha gotcha!, and prolong it even more. The fight with the Demon King is prolonged three times at least, but it has no weight. The Demon King is actually a pushover who is easily defeated by the main crew without them breaking a sweat. There are no stakes in this final fight, no suspense, nothing. Each time, the Demon King is defeated only to come back because the author wanted to milk the series to its last fucking drop.
One of the biggest advantages of Nanatsu no Taizai is the author’s boldness in his decision to include romance in a shonen series. Most shonen series shy away from romance and shove it in last minute making it seem out of left field, like in Naruto. It’s clear that almost all members of the Sins have a love interest that motivates them, whether the feeling is reciprocated or not. Exploring the characters’ relationships or feelings and how the dynamics begin to shift, like in Meliodas/Elizabeth’s case, or Escanor's feelings for Merlin for example, is very interesting and refreshing. The problem in this season is that every. single. character. is given the exact same romantic sob story in a very perfunctory way. Estarossa and Zeldris were the newest victims of this modus operandi. Their romantic feelings are shoehorned without properly exploring how their relationship with their loved one is unique or different from the others. We are just told that their goal is to save or be with the women they love. Is that a bad thing? Hell no. However when romantic factors are literally the only motivation to the actions and goals of the entire cast, this writing device feels recycled, boring and lazy. The author also tried to add Meliodas' and Zeldris' sibling bond in the mix, but without any scenes that solely had to do with them in flashbacks, or any development in their relationship it's hard to find this depiction moving in any way.
Watering down the plot and the characters’ goals to romance is not the only thing that is poorly written in this season. The characters are also becoming plot devices to move the story forward. It feels like Holy War is an arc that undoubtedly had to be mainly action, but the fights so tedious you can barely sit through them. Our main crew is receiving power ups out of nowhere only to defeat the seemingly insurmountable obstacle in front of them-- granted with a plot armor of 100 tons of course. You need olympic medal gymnastics to be able to reconcile all these drastic and sudden changes that happen conveniently every time. These power ups are poorly explained and give off the idea that the author couldn’t think of a better solution and settled with the easy options. And it’s not just power ups without build up; The fights are boring both in choreography and inventiveness. That’s no news of course, since Nanatsu has always lacked inventiveness when it comes to action. The characters are using moves we’ve never seen before, and the villains are suddenly turning from invincible to weak when the plot requires it which makes it hard to engage and get invested in anything that’s happening really. Nothing seems much of a challenge or suspenseful when the author keeps making up bullshit to escape the corner he’s written himself into. I never thought NnT’s fight scenes were anything spectacular, but with the action in this season being more prevalent, the poor writing is even more apparent.
Last but not least, the elephant in the room: the animation of this season. As someone who hasn’t read the manga, I recognize that some complaints I’ve had about this season might be the studio’s fault and not the author’s. The artstyle and animation are supposed to elevate the source material, not make it worse. I’m really not a picky watcher when it comes to animation; I barely notice faults others effortlessly take up quickly. Studio Deen’s treatment of Nanatsu has been god awful. The animation is not just bad, it’s practically nonexistent for the majority of the show. The action seems odd and as if in slow motion; the characters’ faces remain emotionless and expressionless because the animators just wanted to use the same frames. When Meliodas was being lied to that Elizabeth was dead for good, his face was literally the :O emoji for a good 5 seconds. My point is, the dramatic effect some scenes could have had falls flat because of the poor animation quality and effort. I understand this is not the studio’s fault and the animators tried their best, but unfortunately the production committee’s decision could only produce a power point slideshow as a result. It’s sad because animation is not even half of what makes an anime good, but when the effort is so low that it undermines the source material you have a problem. The audience can’t engage in the action sequences nor can they feel the dramatic moments the characters are having properly, no matter how excellent the voice actors or the soundtrack are in Nanatsu’s case.
All in all, they say the journey is what’s most important instead of the destination. In Nanatsu no Taizai’s case, I can definitely keep in mind the good things the series as a whole offered us; the quirky characters, the funny moments, the intriguing backstories. But when the destination itself is so bad it washes away what you had in high esteem, you are left with a feeling that this story should have ended much sooner than it did.
It seems like Studio Deen finally listen to fans and got enough budget. Ho.. so basically everyone's got a motivation to do some shit just for love. Meliodas, Zeldris, Estarossa, Ban, King, Escanor.. 7 Deadly Simps. At this rate we're gonna find out the demon king and that angel goddess used to be husband and wife and this whole holy war is just them going through a divorce. And the fights are getting a bit average, Idk why but I didn't feel much from the fights. The animation has improved much more than the previous season but still doesn't have the same feeling as S1and S2 and the Sounds used doesn't make the fight scenes as impactful as it was intended to be. Overall I would give it a 7 so far.
Watching this anime was pure pain and, minus the odd 5 minutes once in a blue moon, I hated every single second of it. So, you may immediately think to yourself "so J, why did you finish the entire series then dumbass". Well there was one reason and one reason only why I finished this anime, the soundtrack is fucking amazing! Sawano has an ending song which is always going to be great but even the openings absolutely bang. Unfortunately, by the time I was about 10 episodes in and realised the soundtrack had lulled me into a false sense of security, the sunken cost fallacyhad already taken a firm grip on my mind and it was too late to drop it. I also did not expect this complete trainwreck of an anime to get 24 episodes you cannot imagine how devastated I was once I saw it didnt end after episode 13.
But besides the soundtrack, why is it so bad?
Well they spend the first half of the anime in the main arc that the previous seasons have been leading up to, thats totally fine. The fight was overall pretty boring but whatever. However, for the latter half of the season they decide, for whatever reason, to cram in a whole other arc about "chaos", which they've never mentioned before by the way, leading to the absolute genius idea to use 3 episodes to have not just a boss fight but also a whole character arc for merlin.
Needless to say this did not go well.
Furthermore, the animation quality was also just subpar compared to the first couple seasons with half the characters attacks not even being properly animated
Realistically, the anime just fails to get the viewer invested due to certain scenes of terrible writing - they did my boy Escanor particularly dirty this season. The ending blew my mind for being spectacularly bad but I wont spoil you in case this review has filled you with the burning desire to watch it for yourself...
(If that is the case please consult a doctor immediately)
Basically this is the worst anime I've ever actually ever tried to finish and I deeply regret all my life choices that have led up to this moment. That said, I'll give it a 2/10 instead of a 1 because, as previously mentioned, the soundtrack was very good and I have just about survived watching every episode.
Nanatsu no Taizai is back yet again with its awesome array of colorful characters. Coming off the heals of Kamigami no Gekirin which felt disappointing for the fans, Fundo no Shinpan feels like a breath of fresh air in comparison. The story progresses forward at a decent pacing and huge revelations are in store for anyone who decides to watch this sequel. There has also been lots of info dumps which help with world building. You could say we are hitting the climax soon, if not already! As mentioned, all the great characters are back including the great Escanor (haha) which is a treat consideringhow well they all mesh together. Also, let me just say that Merlin is a badass and wish she got even more of the spotlight considering the pivotal role she plays in this series. Animation is better than the previous sequel and the sound is alright; nothing to write home about. I would say the best thing about this sequel is trying to piece together the mystery and being excited to see how things progress, even if some of them seem obvious.
All in all, if you enjoy the characters, are still interested in the story and don't mind average animation/sound, fundo no shinpan is just the right fit!
Nanatsu no Taizai: Funnu no Shinpan And this is where the plane finally crashes. After hearing years ago that the third season was going to be a disaster, I at least hoped that the fourth season would fix it. I thought to myself, this must be an exception, time pressure? Stress? But no, here with the fourth season the low point in quality is set. It should be forbidden to even charge money for this because no quality standards are being met here. Despite the massive disappointment, I got through the third season relatively well, at least there was still plenty of story, structure, and character background. But I can no longer say that here. This season is a pure disaster. Not only was the worst arc in the manga adapted here. It had an immensely stupid, broken power system, but also a massively rushed plot. No, this arc is 90% just fights with no end in sight. And on top of that, the pacing is insultingly bad and the animations have practically hit rock bottom. If I ever watch an anime that is worse animated than this one, I'll be really surprised.
And this has little to do with disappointment, it's more a matter of how they dare release something like this in the first place.
[Story 2]
Just like in the manga, I liked the Story up to the point before the final arc began. Until then it was decent, you had some interesting backgrounds, acceptable world-building, and pleasant character relationships. It was embellished with 2-3 decent plot twists on a shounen level and that was it, a pleasant average series to watch in the evening or read during lunch break.
At least until the author started making every possible character into an end boss, flushed the power system down the toilet and everything just runs along the lines of "random bullshit go".
Not to mention that the whole final battle with the Demon King was such a boring tragedy. Everything felt rushed like the author was trying to finish the plot quickly in a panic. Which resulted in a fight like one a 14-year-old would have imagined playing with his bionicles.
[Characters 4]
Here, unfortunately, you don't see much of the characters, as this is just another eternal cycle of dialogue and repetitive events. There were some scenes that I found interesting and that added spice to the character relationships. Especially Mael's performances. But that was it, up to this point everything was done that needed to be done, this whole season was supposed to just show all the fights.
[Animations 2 / Music 5]
The last 2 intros have been very average, but what surprised me was the fact that they were animated better than the anime itself.
Nothing more needs to be said about the animations, no detail at all, unavailable pacing, disastrous actions, and so on. It's a tragedy in the literal sense of the word.
[Conclusion 2]
Even with the manga, I was very averse to this conclusion and found that the author practically ruined everything he had previously built up with it. But I was still willing to watch it a second time. And honestly, this production quality didn't exactly help smooth out its flaws. I believe that was all we could focus on.
A waste of a relatively enjoyable series on both sides. And kudos to everyone who made it this far without giving up.
[Enjoyment 2]
This is so bad no words can discribe it. Animation is trash. Plost would be okay but all the hype is lost because of how trash the animation is. I dont know who thought this would be a good idea to spend money on making something this level of flaming garbage. This and the last season literally destoryed all the good memories i had with this show. Dont watch it if you arent a masochist. Literally watch cat videos instead of this and your time will be less wasted. 1/10 in every possible aspect. Not worth any time. If you are interested in the story read themanga.
If you expect to watch something like the first two seasons ...... just read the manga. The animations suck, sounds are very bad and they actually achieved to make some moments that could be epic to something that makes you feel sad about its lost potencial overall. There is not even one topic that I can tell to persuade someone that this anime has something interesting to watch other than this is one of the worst anime I have ever seen. In my opinion don't lose your time watching this while you can watch so many decent shounen. Really hope this gets some remake from a serious studioin the next years.
This whole adaptation was a complete clown show by an incompetent animation studio starting with its second season and keeps going down ever since. I'm not the "manga was better" type of guy; an average animation does the job for me to enjoy it, but for this series it definitely is and there is a huge gap between the quality of the manga and the anime. Fights are usually images of characters standing still and a flash of light with a piercing sound on the background. This is "animation" as they call it. Story wise, I cannot say good things either, I hate the factthat everything has to revolve around Meliodas because he's the "main character" but has nothing interesting in his story writing that would make him feel like an actual MC. Escanor for me was the best bit of this series, I think he clutched the show on his shoulders not just because of him being an OP character but had more consistency and strong emotional background on his story compared to Meliodas. When I say consistency I also mean that the characters does not really depict their sins as part of their character except Escanor, yeah we got to see some moments here and there but it's forced and just to prove the concept.
Merlin's backstory also made me scream "can't we just have something in this series that doesn't relate to Meliodas?"
I don't suggest watching this series if you value on quality animation and love characters with backgrounds that actually makes sense and stays consistent.
This shit finally ended ! I loved season 1 and 2, 3 was also fine, only the animation had dropped. The story was still great. But, season 4. YUCK !! What a pitiful ending. The story lacked any sort of interesting features. The chaos arc totally sucked. A stupid way to end such a potential story. 4 seasons and 7 years of time to watch a pathetic and disappointing conclusion. A I am also hearing about a sequel that's about to come up. It's probably gonna be like BORUTO, even worse considering the tasteless ending arc. I hope they don't animate it for gods sake !!
Spoilers..................... Now, This show doesn't really makes any sense, what was the point of meliodas watching Elizabeth die countless number of times? and finally revealing that he has the power to release the curse? and why would the demon king curse Meliodas with eternal youth and Supreme Deity curse Elizabeth when they know that he could break it anytime? and they made us watch 3 seasons and only to reveal this now. There are also other meaningless plot points like gowther saying that unbalance of power between goddess clan and demon clan has caused the war and to stop the war, he altered everyone's memories and convertedMael into Estarossa and it will balance the power of the clans......................what is this lame logic..............how does this stop the war, rather than making it worse.....
and there are many more plotholes, lets leave it here, it's only a drag to continue......
Ah yes, the ending of one of the most popular anime this generation. How well did it do? Allow me to put it into words. First off, the story. It's not bad. But I can't help but feel like a lot of potential were cut from the story. Also, it's rush but slow at the same time. It's pacing was really bad. There's nothing for me to say other than it's pretty unsatisfying. Sure, it's ending is fine, I guess. But everything leading up to that point is just plain bad. The characters are... Decent at the very least. There are a lot of underused characters and... reallyunderdeveloped (especially the side characters).
The animation is as expected. Bad.
The music though, it's pretty good. The opening is great and the ending is decent. Ost is pretty decent too.
Overall, not bad of an ending. It could be better yes, but you really can't expect anything from a series like Nanatsu no Taizai. Especially when it's being done by Studio DEEN.
Personally, I've always hated those who criticize an anime saying that manga is better regardless, but I think I'm turning into my worst enemy. Nanatsu no Taizai represent a perfect parallelism of a descent towards the lowest circle of the hell, twenty episodes were enough to hit rock bottom, but I'm seriously afraid that with the last four we can reach a new concept of shitty product, I don't think I'll be watching them to preserve that shred of respect I have left for the manga. In my opinion for a successful anime are required 3 things: 1) a good direction. 2) at least a decent animationdepartment, and 3) an adequate and varied soundtrack.
Nanatsu no Taizai lacks all three of these aspects, which in my opinion are fundamental.
I cannot understand how it is possible that a work with a decent following, known outside Japan and spread by a large multinational such as Netflix, can find itself, in the technical sector at least, at different levels compared to much more niche works.
About story and characters I can't say anything, it's certainly not a great masterpiece but it's not terrible either, and believe me, I'm serious when I say that if you want to at least avoid getting intoxicated by watching an anime deliberately made ugly, just watch the first two seasons ( in theory 3, but you will never convince me that those four episodes alone make up a season).
And please, if you have a shred of respect for the manga author, forget about the existence of the anime's last two seasons, and read the manga to enjoy the ending of a work raped by an adaptation unworthy of being defined as such.
Deen oh deen, you destroy anime with good story, i hope this anime can remake with other good studio. Anime season with bad quality, that make fans hurt. S1-S2 that make this anime was great, the battle look like good than you Deen, why?. Studio deen have much time to working this anime, so should be have great battle, not like powerpoint slide, oh my good. I was know the quality of this anime start bad since S3, why so different S2 and S3, and then i know was change studio with Deen because A-1 chose to focus SAO. I Dont know, why anime japannow much with season, they make fans waiting the next season, and then how you know feel if the quality of anime bad than the before season.
Season 3, despite not having good animation, actually had a great story and worldbuilding and I was hyped for season 4, thinking that they would learn from their mistake. WELL, this season, not only the animation was bad, but even the plot. It was a naval battle rather than a combat anime from the amount of ships there were. Repetitive story, way too forced to continue (cath becoming a demon because why not). Power levels start not making any sense at all, Galiard was able to cut kilometers distant mountains with wind pressure with 40k power, Meliodas seem to have less power despite having 25 times more. Needsa remake not only in animation, but even plotwise (yeah I know it's not that easy and it will not get it but it does need it)
Nanatsu no Taizai ends. About damn time!!!! I'm not a fan of this franchise, never have been but I have a no drop rule. To give you context, I'll leave you here a summary of my ratings for each season: S1: 6/10 S2: 5/10 S3: 5/10 S4: 3/10 S5: 3/10 (this one) So, from here you can see that it started okay but as seasons went on, it just became a chore to me to watch and I'll explain why below. This revierw is something you will probably relate to if you're like me and consider Ban to be the only redeeming quality this franchise offers. Also, if at anypoint I'm about to spoil certain things, I'll warn you beforehand ;D
Art and Visuals:
I still dislike the art style and the seiyuus but at this stage those factors don't count as much because it's another sequel and obviously there has to be some continuity. However, there is something very important that has desperately needed a drastic change and that is the animation. These last Nanatsu no Taizai sesons have had very poor, sloppy and outrageous animation. There's no excuse to have frames with faceless characters, objects changing proportions throughout the same episode for no reason whatsoever and so on. If there isn't enough budget to draw a couple of eyes, a nose and a mouth or to pay attention to what you're animating, you might as well just postpone the project. You'll find so many examples of this that it will become the main focus instead of the plot or the characters.
Characters:
1) Ban and Elaine: since the very beginning of the franchise, I only cared about Ban and Elaine. Every other character I either hated or couldn't care less. I only got enjoyment whenever Ban was on the screen. I loved everything about him: voice, character desgin and personality. However, this season changed me. For some reason, not even Ban (or Elaine) could save me from being bored out of my mind while watching this season;
2) SPOILER ABOUT KING: this character will get a new form and it looks awful;
Story:
1) the story of Nanatsu no Taizai has always been mediocre in my opinion and the actions scenes of this season don't compensate for that.
2) At the end of the season (20th and 21st episodes), SPOILER ABOUT MERLIN!!! ................................................. She decides to kiss Escanor on the lips because he loved her, although she doesn't feel the same way. I'm 29 years old and I've met plenty of other women and I've yet to meet one that would kiss a guy out of pity. It felt cheap ugly fan service. I'd rather she had feelings for him but no, she obviously had to have feelings for Meliodas instead, adding to the poor writting of this franchise. It's not even like Meliodas has any charisma or anything going for him, other than power level , but of course he could have a harem if he wanted to -.-'
3) I hated the ending. The new male character looks too much like a girl and has no charisma whatsoever.
I know there's at least 1 movie coming but I honestly hope this franchise dies out soon because I'd rather spend my time with other animes than this.
In conclusion, it's a 3/10 for me.
I cannot even begin to describe how disappointed I am in the new season. Story: The story felt very disconnected as many people have said. It is a lot of talking and poorly animated actions scenes. There are many plot holes and characters just randomly gain abilities to beat certain foes that are invincible at first but then become weak afterwards. The Demon King fight really had no impact at all. The Seven Deadly Sins never had any consequences for any actions they took. Nothing in the entire story of the show changed; except for Escanor and some side characters that were better than the maincharacters dying. The ending was lame as everyone has already said.
Voice Acting English Dub: Season 3's English Dub on Netflix was great and now we get some voice actors which don't even match the characters themselves. Ex: Adult King's VA is terrible and Demon King Meliodas's VA which I am pretty sure is the same as Drayfus. There is a moment when Estarossa/Mael Voice Cracks which was funny but kind of annoying. The returning voice actors are fine otherwise. The Japanese Sub is better for once so just watch that if you want good voice acting.
Animation: As expected the animation was 'slightly' better but not by much. The action scenes still look like a PowerPoint by a 10 year old.
Music and OST: The OST is still decent but there are a lot of reused tracks that don't quite match some of the scenes well.
My Take: I watched it all in the Japanese Sub as well as the English Dub. Again I would highly recommend the Japanese Sub. I didn't like the story. Some parts of the music lined up well; like when Ban found Meliodas in purgatory. I enjoyed the little bit about when Estarossa got his commandment and wish we would have seen the story behind the other nine commandments getting their commandments. Overall I didn't enjoy this season more than S3 or any other season because it was mostly filler even though it's animation was 'slightly' better.
Overall: This season had so much hype but fell victim to it's outsourced studios curse again and overall decreased in quality.
Listen.. this may not be the best start of a season that we have seen. But it seems to be better then the end of season 3, which to be fair was a rushed disaster of many different ideas. You will SOME enjoyment from watching this new season, as you will receive a glimmer of hope for the characters which haven't been completely ruined unlike the likes of Hendrickson. I have high hopes for the rest of the season, as I really do believe this is just a rocky start with good things to come in the future. The first thing they could do is maybestop making BAN so god damn weak, but apart from that all they have to do is actually focus the original plot rather than continuously drifting further and further away from the path they layed out for themselves.
