Bear Grylls: Waifu Edition… would be a shallow and reductive way to describe this show. Many edutainment anime series fail by wasting their potential. They give you their topical lessons and maybe comedy, but nothing more. No story, no progress, no characters - nothing that is supposed to be the point of fiction in the first place. This isn’t one of them. The story follows four anime girls stranded on an uninhabited island. While the lessons how to make fire, what to eat, etc. are still there, that doesn’t distract the story from being about characters first and foremost. The episodes aren’t formulaic and follow alinear continuity, there are no status quo resets, everything that happens affects the situation of our characters in a permanent manner.

Speaking of characters, they are three-dimensional. Both we, the audience, and their own group gradually learn their personalities based on the way they react to the rising challenges - which leads to the establishment of specific character dynamics. You know, the stuff one would call “character drama.” Even more so, despite being a 10-minute episode ecchi comedy, the story manages to dedicate at least some amount of time to explore the mental toll that struggle for survival takes on people.

Last but not least, the survival lessons are actually true to reality, as far as I can tell. Again, edutainment shows will often compromise and employ artistic license in order to not bore the audience to death, undermining their very premise in the process. This doesn’t happen here.

9/10 for a show that succeeds in what it’s trying to do.

“Are You Lost?” is shaping up to be my favorite of the “ecchi-cational” shows of the season. It’s not as slow and monotonous as Dumbbell and it’s a bit more creative with the way it delivers and paces the ecchi and “lessons” when compared to Magical Senpai. To me it’s also just straight up funnier. The premise here is about what you would expect when you think of an anime about survival. Four high-school girls of various archetypes get stranded on a desert island and have to survive. They are the sporty tomboy Asuka, the sensitive wallflower Shion, and the studious glasses-girl Mutsu. Rounding out thegroup is Homare, an otherwise plain looking girl if not for her convenient ability and knowledge of survival. You see, this is because Homare had a bad-ass father who felt that teaching her survival tactics was much more important than boring things like social etiquette and awareness.

This means that the basic structure of an episode is

1) The girls need to perform some basic survival task.

2) Homare does something very strange/extra because of their lack of basic survival tools.

3) The girls are weirded out, but grin and bear it because they don’t want to die.

4) Repeat.

I think most viewers will be able to enjoy the comedy of this one. It generally stems from the strange things Homare does, the girl’s reactions to it, and their struggle with basic survival tasks. The girls (that are not Homare) can be presented as a little dim at times, but none of it feels mean-spirited(And Mutsu seems like she can actually be useful). The main sticking point for some will probably be the ecchi. This show is not shy with it’s wet t-shirts and panty shots, but if you’re not big on that, I would still give this show 2 or 3 episodes if you’re even passively interested. The 1st episode lays it on a little thick, but the show chills out a little bit with more episodes.

Do you know how to make a situation so gloom and bleak feel like nothing? Cute girls obviously. Seriously, cute girls always take a situation so gloom and bleak and make all bright and cheerful. We’ve had many anime where cute girls do cute things and it uplifts the atmosphere into something more cheerful. So what happens when you take four girls and strand them on an Island? Well you get Bear Grylls- The Anime. Sit back, relax and get a football (or soccer ball for you American readers), draw a face on it and shout “WILSON!!!” as I present to you the anime reviewfor Sounan Desu Ka? Or by its English name, Are You Lost? Lets begin.

Story: 7/10

Due to a plane crash, our four main leads, Hormare, Asuka, Mutsu and Shion find themselves to be the only survivors (the rest are probably dead but remember, UPLIFTING). Stranded in the middle of the ocean, they managed to find a stranded island. Now in the middle of nowhere with no outside help. They have to survive. Thankfully, Hormare is experienced and has plenty of survival skills to help these girls survive on the Island.

Honestly, I do think the shorter runtime this show has helps with the pacing. If it were a more standard episode length, I would feel like each episode would drag. But due to the shorter length, its snappy, to the point and only focuses on one, two or even three survival skills that you need in order to survive. So the show moves at a nice pace to prevent the show feel like they are going nowhere as they always find a way to progress.

The main thing about this show that its just as educational as it is a light-hearted, ecchi, adventure comedy. I felt like I learned some things from this show by Hormare and, through flashbacks, her father Jouichi, explaining how to properly handle the situation. A couple of things did bug me, like setting up camp before finding a fresh water source, but the rest was very intriguing. The show does a good balance of making sure you are having fun watching this series while at the same time, you are learning something from it. The fan service never really gets in the way despite it being prominent but they hardly made a big of a deal out of it. There is one thing though that did distract me but I will get to that.

Characters: 5/10

Hormare is what I would consider the main protagonist because she’s the character the show likes to focus on. Considering her knowledge and survival skills, I can clearly see why. But really, she is just a vessel for us to learn new survival skills and not much else. She doesn’t need to progress or have a character arc because she is already arced out. She already has mastered survival skills so what else does she need to learn? In the context of this show, she is basically a Mary Sue and doesn’t have a flaw except maybe social cues. But, it seems she gets better at it over time.

Really the main character progression comes from Asuka, Mutsu and Shion and how they learn to survive and help Hormare. Like us, they start to learn survival skills over time and want to help Hormare more to ease the burden. It's simple yet shows how our cast besides Hormare are learning and what they need to do to survive. That’s basically it. Sure they do grow as characters but their personality's are rather generic and something we have seen countless times from other shows with nothing really unique about them and aren't endearing. They are however, rather relateable due to them having no idea how to survive in this survival situation and as the show goes on, they learn how to.

Animation: 6.5/10

The animation was done by studio Ezόla, who’s only other work was one of my favourite anime from last year, Happy Sugar Life. Their work on this show however is actually alright. It’s looks lively and has a light-hearted feel to it, appropriate for this series. If the art style was any different or looked more bleak, it would look jarring. So it is used to good use here. The character designs aren’t exactly unique and are distractingly, *ahem* “THICC!” Sure, for an ecchi series, you should be enchanted by how a character looks, but if the show is trying to make you learn something at the same time, you don’t want it to be too distracting. In this case, it is. But that is just me.

Sound: 5/10

Light, bubbly but rather basic are the three words I would use to describe the ost of the series. It does its job at keeping a light tone but it never captures my attention. That is a good thing because if you are ogling at the girls or learning survival skills, then you don’t want it to be a distraction. But I feel like it could have been done better. The ambient sounds though are good and add to the atmosphere, especially when they are on the beach and you can hear the ocean.

The opening “Koko wa Doko” by Ahomushi is one of those sing along openings. Did I sing along? No. But it was a cherpy opening that I didn’t skip. It matches the tone of the show and is trying to have fun while being stranded on an Island. So it is a very solid opening that is appropriate for the show.

The ending is pretty forgettable in my opinion. They try to go for a different look for the ending but it is one of those cases where nothing much happens to be more expressive. I only watched it a couple of times before I decided just to skip it.

Conclusion:

I felt like I learned some new things while watching this series. So that means that it has clearly done something right. The show manages to be educational and fun to watch at the same time and the cast of characters, while being rather unremarkable, still acted as good vessels for us to learn new survival skills. As Ezόla second anime, they have done an alright job here. Especially when you consider going from a Psychological Horror series to a Ecchi, adventure comedy as the next show you animate. Although I didn’t find it to be an absolute must watch (or close to it honestly), You can still get some enjoyment from this show and learn some new things along the way. Being a 12 minute, 12 episode series helps if you want to quickly plow through it. So if you are curious, check this one out.

I always wondered what would happen if you end on an island with Rambo's daughter after an accident (airplane crash, a sinking ship, etc)? However, Homare isn't Rambo's daughter but she received similar training from her father. The plot of the series is easy, following a group of girls that ended in a desolated island and watching their adventures to survive and how Homare an expert in those situations is helping them. On the paper, the idea was interesting. Once I watched the first episode, I figured the series is very average. Most of the jokes are silly, boring, dull, and in some casesgrotesque. Although survivability can be fun under certain circumstances, this show is becoming a lame combination between Lost and Gilligan's Island where the silly events tend to be boring and without a plausible argument.

Finally, the length of each episode is only half from the average. However, do not hope too much from this kind of series or you will end very disappointed. Also, It won't surprise me if at the end we watch something like "Wilson, Wilson!!" correction "Homare Homare!!"

do not watch the last episode oh god do not watch the last episode it's just don't do it it's not worth it so anyway it's a fairly good show (fuck that one scene in the last episode). It has a lot of "fan service" which i usually don't like, but it never feels forced, and also i know alot more about survival situations than i did before (even things i don't wanna know, that one scene in the last episode is...). The story makes enough sense that you won't question it during a casual viewing, but it isn't perfect as most plots aren't. there are alot of flashbacks especiallylater on, and it can get kinda annoying but they're pretty short so it's not all that bad.

Sounan desu ka? was a short episode show you coulf enjoy while also learning about survival. The learning about survival part fell a bit short tho so, at least for me, I don't remember that much about how to set up some traps. There was many fanservice and the characters themselves were pretty likeable too with a decent amount of character development. It got a very very open end with nothing finished at all and I don't expect a continuation any time soon so to ppl that aren't in for that- or picking up te source material, shouldn't watch it However as the episodes are short it's a goodshow for in between!

"Survivor the Animation." That's how I see this series, like "Sounan Desu ka"! (the Japanese language has A BUTTLOAD ton of ways interpreting the title...) Compared to Tejina-senpai (which both shows air one after another, with this airing after said series), I find that AT LEAST this series knows its plot so rightaway it doesn't feel overboard with its comedic adventure about basic survival tips and skills should it come in handy one day. Plus, it's "ecchi-cational" (thanks for inspiration @Dr_Sephiroth) and with high school girls instead of guys. BUT WAIT, spoilers if this series entices you to read the manga further (and that's as faras spoilers will go)!

Anyways, here we are, stranded on an unnamed island after a (supposedly) plane crash, 4 girls must not outwit and outplay, but outlast their way in surviving on the island for God who knows how long. Rounding up the character cast, there's the able-bodied and sporty Asuka Suzumori, being a support in whatever help she could do with less, unlike the one who is OCD about everything and wants to be treated like a princess, Shion Kujou. The studious but shy glasses-girl Mutsu Amatani, and of course, "The Dummies' Guide" to surviving "guru" Homare Onishima. It's no surprise to see all 4 girls having different encounters about surviving in the wilderness, let alone, living on an island and awaiting another day to the day of rescue.

And in the characterization, it's as days as molasses to see that rightaway, Shion is the odd one out, the negativity to living life stranded on the island, and wants to be treated like the rich (since she comes from such a family), but over time, we see her grumbling and complaining less and being part of the team of 4 to help increase their chances of survival. Mutsu on the other hand, is a worrywart most of the time, and it's a VERY natural human reaction to not be able to discern what's next for life you know, could stop at any moment. But like Shion, she soon is able to adapt and help the others going forward. Asuka is the sporty kind, so huge obstacles and such is no match for her spirit of prowess, though she can be a bit of an airhead sometimes. And I most certainly don't need to explain how essential AND critical of a character Homare is, being trained by her dad from young meant that she is capable of any situation when it calls, being able to know the good and bad, along with not the best, but basic tips for survival that rounds the educational aspect of the show. Getting to learn alongside one another knowing different viewpoints never felt this good.

On the animation side, Ezola returns after the first stint that is Happy Sugar Life, with the same production team, director and such. That's not a bad thing really. With good directing, this series could go as far as it wants to, and it did succeed and fail in some areas. Balance of comedy and actual plot was subliminal to say the least with decent art and animation.

Again, OST is just decent and nothing really stands out a whole lot, but just like Tejina-senpai, I can only give it the benefit of the doubt. Hear good? Yea that's honestly fine by me.

Between Tejina-senpai and this one, I'm gonna choose the latter just because of the educational content that builds up per episode, not that we'll be utilizing these tips in our everyday lives, but if come one day where we have to live like these 4 girls, these handy tips come to mind. On the other hand, it's worth a watch on a good break.

·Story: 3/10 I know this is a 10min anime, but I have seen a thousand times this type of plot. There is nothing new to see from that type of series (where the mc gets lost on an island) apart from the fact that in this case all the mcs are females. ·Art: 6/10 Art in general is decent, and obviously gets better in the fan-service scenes, which is something common in 10min animes.·Sound: 5/10

Sound effects are mediocre. From what I've seen so far there are only the typical tropical effects, like the sound of insects and waves?

For me they sound like if they were taken from a pre-made online website.

From the four mcs there is only one that surprised me a little bit, which is Homare.

She is the only one that has something different from the mythical female mcs which is her survival instinct.

The rest of the mcs are common and don't have nothing new to see.

·Enjoyment: 3/10

As I said, in my case I have already seen this type of genre many times, so this anime didn't surprised me at all.

I am not really enjoying it a lot for that reason, which is that this show is nothing different from what you have probably seen before.

In general the anime for me is bad so far and I would only recommend it if you have nothing else to do or see. (Having in fact that is a 10min anime)

Sounan Desu ka? takes the very unoriginal general concept of "what if you got stranded on a deserted island?" and applies it to anime, where it's actually something original (if there's more survival anime that came out before this, let me know and I'll eat my hat). However, as original of a concept as it may be, it still falls short as an anime. The story is the only decent category, followed by the music. It's not something every anime does, and I have to give it some credit for that. It's a concept that's been done worse, but it's also been done far better. Addingschool girls to the mix will only get you so far.

The art is lackluster and even bad at some points. Maybe I've been spoiled by KyoAni and other big-budget studios, but a lot of animation feels lifeless, robotic, and choppy. Character designs are about as bland as unflavored gelatin and the background scenery isn't anything to write home about.

As I said previously, the music is alright. It's more memorable than most anime, but not anything I'd go out of my way to listen to outside the anime.

The characters are stupid and fall victim to almost every stereotype in anime. There was a moment about six episodes in where it felt like one character was about to have some character development, and then there was nothing to follow through afterwards. There's really not much to see here besides "girls are the cutest when they're almost retarded".

Overall, Sounan Desu ka? was just barely on the border between being bad enough to drop, and decent enough to keep watching. The first couple of episodes really made me want to drop it, but I decided to keep watching and was not really rewarded for my time. The first one or two episodes are a very good indicator as to if you'll like the rest of this.

*****MINOR SPOILERS, THE STORY IS NONEXISTENT ANYWAYS, I DON'T KNOW WHY YOU'D REALLY CARE ABOUT SPOILERS*****

There really is no ending. Two girls spit bird poop water into each other's asses and then there's a ten second very ambiguous clip that solves nothing and gives no solid ending. You are not missing anything by dropping this show if you do not enjoy it at any point.

When it's not being completely disgusting, this show is an absolute blast. Warning for some colourism ep.9, and hope you have a strong stomach for the finale. I enjoyed the mini episodes approach to this show and loved the characters. I think the light romance pairings were really well executed and all the characters were given growth during the show arc. I also appreciated that there wasn't any over-explaining of the situation, it made suspending reality and joining these girls on their adventure really easy. I found it cheeky, playful, funny, and an easy watch. Again, the humour is very gross at times. There is alsolots of fan service. This with either make you love or hate the show, to each their own, just know what you're going into.

I’ve noticed a trend recently over the past couple years. No longer are we getting the influx of cute girls doing cute things. Now we are getting cute girls doing cool things. Whether it’s a bunch of friends sailing to Antarctica or camping in the wilderness or now surviving on a deserted island, this sub genre of anime has undergone a change that I believe is for the better. Sounan Desu Ka or it’s English name “Are You Lost?” is about 4 girls that suddenly find themselves stranded on a deserted island in the middle of nowhere. While this could be the starting point fora comedy about a bunch of whacky hijinks, Are You Lost? takes advantage of its surroundings to inform the audience of what to do when you find yourself in a survival situation. It’s like Bear Grylls if he was a kawaii anime girl. Of course with a short anime featuring four girls you are going to get some fan service but it should not distract you from the survival lessons being shown on screen as they are pretty useful.

The main character Homare is the expert survivor that guides the audience in what to do and not do. Trained by her hardcore father she has what it takes to survive but her friends not so much. While on break from Food Wars! Erina makes an appearance and we see how helpless she is when she doesn’t have the necessary utensils to survive on a deserted island. The rest of the cast fill out the typical damsels in distress trope with homare representing the white knight savior. Even though the episodes average only 12 minutes there is still ample character development throughout even from the unlikeliest of places.

For a short anime the art and animation was surprisingly done well. Everything looks real nice and flows satisfactorily. As for the music, I must say I am a complete sucker for characters that sing and or dance in the OP/ED. Are You Lost? checks both of these boxes making the show pretty fun starting out.

Overall, I thought I was going to get an ecchi comedy kind of show, and while I did get a little bit of that no lie, in the end I came out of it learning something. I wish more shows could be educational while still retaining the entertainment factor. It makes for an insightful watch.

This anime is simple, but both funny and educational. The characters are likable - not very complex, but not too cliche - and slowly build up their new lives from scratch depending on the survival techniques of the odd but reliable Homare. There isn't too much detail, but the instructions/explanations are clear to the viewer, passing on easy but potentially life saving tips, although hopefully you'll never need to use them. Definitely interesting just for the trivia, but the characters make the minimal story enjoyable to watch, rather than being like a straight up lesson or guide. With it's short episodes, I think this is aneasily digestible show that will make you laugh, and leave you a little better educated for it.

Personally I really enjoyed this series, and hope it gets a sequel so I can see what other curious methods Homare teaches the others!

Homare's Declassified Stranded in an Island Survival Guide: Anime Short Edition 4 girls gets stranded on an island when their plane crash, they need to survive as well as send for help in any way possible and Homare Onishima knows all the survival tips because of her father teaching her this at an early age. So that's the basic premise, how about the characters?, well due to Homare knowing all the survival tips let alone her childhood mostly in the dangerous wilderness, she a bit of a quirky, blunt social character and that makes her funny in a ways especially with the interactions with the restof the cast. Mutsu Amatani voiced by Kiyono Yasuno and Asuka Suzumori voiced by Hiyori Kouno help Homare with things to help with their surivial, with Mutsu being knowledgeable and taking on what Homare says to heart, while Asuka is this but more in the physical labor and helping the team. Shion Kujou voiced by Azumi Waki on the other hand at the start expects the same basic human resources and hardly does anything besides whine at the start of the anime and yeah becomes annoying but much like the rest of the cast getting that knowledge from Homare and working on their survival and helping the team, Shion DOES get into the groove of it and distance herself from her whiny self but she does get into trouble at times, not of her own volition. Nonetheless the cast though extremely minimal and to be expected for a "survival guide-like anime short" it's to be expected. Ohh and Homare's father Jouichi is a madlad!

The animation done by Ezola was pretty good even for an anime short and yeah there is expected fanservice, be it of the yuri and typical fanservice elements (considering it's essentially a beach island anime). The backgrounding though not spectacular does show off the grossness of certain survival elements but with the moe character designs of the core cast, Ezola did a pretty job with it's animation overall.

The voice cast, well to say that the voice cast had chemistry..well they had it at least and it helped even with their comedic moments. LA's favourite voice actor (and character overall) would go to...Homare's, that of M.A.O, she just had that blunt comedic tone about her and she kept it all throughout the anime and LA loved it.

Sounan desu ka is a funny, ecchi "educational" anime, it's not LA's favourite educationally ecchi anime for Summer 2019 but for what it was worth and all the comedy it gave whilst showing off it's knowledge of survival tips was a fun watch. Sounan desu ka?...yes the characters are, but the anime short itself KNOWS what it is and does what it needed to...

The story is weirdly decent enough for me to enjoy. I seem to enjoy survival. I like Homare's backstory. The story was decent with a bit of character development. Though most of the story is just how reliable Homare is. The art was decent at most. A couple of inconsistencies here and there. Though for most of the anime, the art was great. Also, fanservice. I quite like the opening and the ending. For some reason I can't remember any OST in this anime at all. Characters were great. Kinda. Homare is best girl, so reliable and never complains. Homare always try to satisfy herfriends. Asuka is just the athletic girl trope. Mutsu is quite cute at times. And I can't stand Shion, but she had some development near the end. So it's not that bad. Did I enjoy this anime? Damn right I enjoyed it. Who doesn't love a survival anime with a reliable best girl and fanservice. (ehe)

Finally this uninformative, unfunny, stupid ass trashfeista is over. God-damn my aversion to dropping series unless they're super long and intolerable. This was just short and intolerable. This anime features wholly unsafe survival advice. From drinking urine, which is unviable due to the waste products within it causing a number of adverse health effects that heavily outweigh any hydration benefits, to drinking blood, which will cause iron poisoning in most humans if done more than very occasionally and more importantly expose your digestive tract to any number of pathogens. The very small amount of remotely sound advice offered is offered with as little practical information as possible,I.E. the instructions for the construction of a snare trap being extremely vague and being entirely unusable in most scenarios.

Unless you are a lonely, horny-ass motherfucker just looking to nut to softcore pornography rather than harder stuff, this series is entirely worthless.

Sounan Desu ka? This is one of two short-form animes for this Summer Season, and in my opinion, it's the lesser of the two. A group of four school girls are stranded on a distant island, three of them are clueless as far as survival techniques go, while the fourth girl, Homare, is well versed in her survival tactics, thanks in part to her dad. Story: The story isn't very deep. It more or less follows the girls trails on a daily basis, as they try to survive being stranded on this island. Each episode generally had it's own theme, or issue, that they were workingto get through.

Art: Nothing too special here. The art gets the job done, and so does the animation. I'm not gonna pretend to complain about the fan service that took place throughout the anime. Otherwise, I wouldn't say this made or broke the anime.

Characters: This gets a bit of a break here, because, I don't necessarily think a short-form anime NEEDS to have great character development. Homare, was really the only girl that got much of a background in this show, generally in the form of flashbacks to her fathers teachings in survival.

Enjoyment: This is the first short-form anime I've ever tried, generally speaking, I've avoided them, because I always worried that they'd lack any real story or character development, and I wasn't necessarily wrong. However, I did find myself enjoying both short forms these season, to a reasonable extent. They were quick, and generally gave me a chuckle here and there, plus, the Ecchi/Fan Service never hurts with this type of thing.

Overall: I give it a 5/10, not because it was bad, but, more-so because it didn't have the depth for me to really consider it a full blown anime. It had its moments, but, because there wasn't much of a continual story between episodes, I never really found myself looking forward to this on a weekly basis, it was always just kinda there.

Story 7/10 Four high school girls get stranded on an island in the middle of the ocean with no food, water or shelter thankfully one of the girls Homare Onishima is well versed in survival conditions and provides assistance and advice in obtaining water, food and shelter for the group as well as some ideas and advice for the viewer. Not the most complex and compelling story but it is executed well with interesting and attractive characters and interesting advice on survival conditions for the viewer. Art 7/10 The world and characters look good here with some nice colors and some good ecchi.Sound 7/10

The sound and music is reasonable and I liked the voice acting particularly Homare who has some excellent lines.

Characters 7/10

Homare is an excellent character who does a great job in leading the girls forcing them to overcome their fears if they wish to survive, the other characters do a reasonable job supporting Homare with each of them struggling at first but developing over the course of the show although none of them truly rise above a supporting role.

Enjoyment 7/10

Fun and entertaining show with some interesting ideas and advice about survival conditions with a good basic story and good characters.

Later On : "Distinguishing the full analogy of such girls who got stranded in an island where episode is almost half time POV Fanservice Skits.." Heard of Lord of The Flies? Over-Bloated of grieving.. yet unnecessary civilization against such certain pave of egotism.. Since the summary catches the eye of view within how hard blinded in sense of prevail that can be inevitable. "Nothing is pretty ordinary"A word of upbringing to have quite a negative view of human catalyst can be drawn from the messages it carries.

I mean We have Only girls between the ages of 12 who are stranded on an island after they had a plane crash. There is no adult who would force them to stay in line; there is no authority that would tell them what's right or wrong. They are left to their own devices and even though they were doing as good as you would expect schoolkids to do. Admit it, it's niche considered how the market would sell if it's only for every degens always wanted. Hardly to say that this matter can uphold the true essence claiming the island as their own, doing as they pleased because they could do so without anyone to stop them.

Rather than taking the rough approach, It depends to "some guy deciphering the hidden knowledge of accepting the true culture".

As much as thirsty as it gets, their own desire for control the first pig is certainly described with unmistakable sexual resonance. One of the girls pushes a sharpened wits "up her ass". On an island, living on fruit and harmony shows us the most sophisticated power and control over others can be wielded quickly and wrongly by just a few people. It's what's happening all over the world at this minute. Triggering the amount of lust and affection, those priorities are vain and interested in dominating and manipulating others. Are you lost? Yes I am. I was lost while searching new anime to watch and stumble upon this anime. Basically Sounan Desu ka? is about 4 high school girls stranded on an island after a place crash. They have to survive with what ever skills they have. Pretty cliche right? There are a lot of this kind of genre such as Lost (Hollywood TV series), Cast Away (Hollywood movie), 7 Seeds, Dr. Stone, and even documentaries such as Bear Grylls, and novel such as Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe. You get the idea how this genre are abundant out there. So what makes thisanime special? NONE. except for some cute girls and fan service.

So why did I gave it a pretty high ratings? Well to be honest, I am a fan or survival genre. I played a lot of survival game and watched this kind of genre. So maybe I am a bit biased. Sounan Desu ka is by means no special than others but that is nothing wrong with cliche story as long as it is well done.

First the story. It is pretty generic. You get stranded, you get to find food, you get to build shelter, etc. Along the story, you also get to learn something new as this kind of anime turns out to be 'educational'. each episodes tells different issues and how they overcome them. Neither great nor it's bad.

For art, nothing much to say. Not good and not bad. I kinda like how they designed the character as 'thicc' instead of 'fake model body' which is I find okay.

Sound? Nothing memorable came in mind. I heard the OP and ED once and skip them afterwards.

Then we venture into Characters. To survive, you need to have generic character. What if none of them had survival skills? If so, this anime will ended in 1 episode. Here is where Homura fill in. Unsociable high school girls who traveled a lot with his Dad around the world and picking up survival skills along the way. Then we have Mutsu, nerd spectacle girl (cliche!) who's educated but not so much on survival. She's eager to learn new things and pretty dependable. Next we have Shion, spoiled rich kid who acts like princess but has a bit of soft spot. Lastly, Asuka, the airhead and muscle of the group (Again, cliche!). Not to forget Homura Papa (that's cute of Homura to call her dad Papa >.<) where he occasionally appeared in Homura's flashback. Overall, I found that the characters are generics but pretty well done when they are interacted with each other. Since this anime only 13 minutes per episode, there's no much character development happens but it's still there. Pretty good though.

Enjoyment? I enjoy this anime. 13 minutes per episode is a great length. It's not too boring but shorter episode means less character development. I did binge watched it in one night. The educational parts of the anime is pretty well done to. I learned a lot though. Also, I hate anime that rely on fan service to sell but it is tolerable.

Overall, I find this anime is pretty much good and what as I expected. Before I knew, I already looking forward to next season if there's one (I hope so). This anime might not be appeal to a lot of people, even to survival shows enthusiast. It is good to kill some time but you gotta turn down a bit of brain and just watch it for enjoyment or yuri echhi-ness if that's what you're looking for.

A fun story about some high-school girls that get stuck on an island. With some hilarious situations, but it has some unnecessary lewd moments. The character interactions are very fun and the characters themselves play on a lot of tropes. Story – 6 It’s not bad, the fun is the character interactions and the reactions from the characters. With the main survivalist character introducing some new, funny aspect to survive. Sound – 8 I like to Opening, but not the Ed. The background music is basically non-existent. Art – 7 Great Panty art, everything else is pretty normal. I’m going to give it a 7 because it hassome fun reactions.

These 4 characters are the only characters that are introduced in the entire series. it’s great to see their interactions and stories.

Homare is the survivalist expert with plenty experience’s in being lost. She’s funny because she is blunt and doesn’t pussyfoot around the topic. She does some gross stuff, but it’s all for survival.

Shion is the pretty, rich girl that doesn’t want to break a nail. She inconveniences Homare by asking her to build showers and perfume. She has some banger jokes.

Asuka is the sporty girl, she adapts quickly to the her situation, but complains a lot along the way.

Amatani is the smart girl, she makes some of the traps and situations better, but she doesn’t bring many jokes.

Overall – 7

It’s fun; it has some great moments that I enjoyed a lot. The story is ok, with flashbacks and such. The characters a good and I enjoy all of them. The art is nice and I enjoyed this series pretty well.
